@w4tt4n4b3
You have to create your own but since it's requested too frequently I might have to add some basic profiles so suggestions are welcome.
@burfadel
Will be one of the changes for the next built to be uploaded.

Dear Stax, the older version had more profiles and I thought there would be a way to get them from 1.1.4 and transfer them to the newer version...
You mean they have to be constructed all from the beginning?

I got the same message again even using the newer version of Staxrip.
The following error occurred:

Why does encoding always fail at the same point?
When I tried small files less than 100 mb it was ok and I did the same thing.
When I loaded a 2gb file it fails at the same point...

Would it be possible to be able to save audio encoder profiles. For example if I would like to create nero aac profiles for LC, HE and Hev2 would that be possible. I think it would be great to have a few specialised saved profiles for sudio setting.

@w4tt4n4b3
The MeGUI profiles have become somehow obsolete anyway since they do not take advantage of the newest x264 features. It's not so hard to make a few x264 profiles since you can use x264's profile, preset and tuning features as basis.
Regarding your crash, try most basic x264 settings, mod 16 input, newest x264 built, check your hardware.
@flebber
Do you mean creating custom audio profiles? This is supported, it's somehow hidden unfortunately, I'm hoping being able to make it a bit easier.

Yes stax76 your on the money, I did find the audio profiles option this morning. I wasn't trying to acheive anything spectacular I just wanted to ensure AAC used HE profile on low bitrate.
"%application:BeSweet%" -core( -input "%input%" -output "%output%" ) -azid( -c normal -L -3db ) -ota( -d %delay% -g max ) -bsn( -vbr 0.3 -aacprofile_he -2ch )
Regarding Megui profiles, in Stax76 I feel there is really no need to import Megui profiles since they are so easy to create and save yourself, use the megui profiles as guide but have fun creating your own :). However, you can find the up to date Megui profiles in use in Megui 1056 which Kurtnoise has updated, whilst Sharktooth is on Summer Break - you need to update from development repository.

Yo @ staxrip thanks for that response (although its been awhile since I posted)
but I got more questions.
I was re-encoding a 720p video and after I finished I noticed that the video and audio were way out of sync and that the duration of the video dropped like 5 minutes. I noticed then that the original video had the frame mode at variable frame rate like 23.976/29.970 (24/30). Also noticed this when I was handling some other videos that and variable frame rates and that too came out of sync:
Frame rate : 24.032 fps
Minimum frame rate : 11.988 fps
Maximum frame rate : 119.880 fps
Original frame rate : 29.970 fps
I was wondering: when I encode a video with variable frame rates how do I work with the variable frame rates? How do I bypass this issue? Is there a solution to this error? I keep reencoding and staxrip changes it from vfr to cfr am I able to retain the variable frame rates and not convert to constant frame rate?

@flebber
I'm interested in x264 profiles that don't use many switches and use the x264 presets, profiles and tunings as basis.
@turok
I've no experience with VFR.

I tried mod 16 input so that height and width will be divisible with 16. I have done numerous encodings with staxrip with this pc.
IT has a AMD Phenom II 920 x4 processor and enough ram to cope with the demands of an encode.
I use x264 basic settings.
There is no problem when I encode files at around 100 mb...
When I put a large file of 2-3 gbs then the problem arises...

x264 says : x264 [warning]: b-pyramid + mb-tree is not supported.
This means mb-tree ratecontrol and b-pyramid don't work together, you can have one or the other but not both.
Disable mb-tree via the --no-mbtree option if you absolutely want b-pyramid, however, you'll loose more by disabling mb-tree than what you'll win by enabling b-pyramid, so I'd simply remove the --b-pyramid option if I were you (not to mention that b-pyramid can break standalone player compatibility if you're not careful).

What operating system do you use? I'll try to reproduce it. For AC3 sources even when you cut decoding is not needed since VirtualDubMod cuts AC3 and BeSweet supports AC3 sources. For DVD sources you can use the default values which is Decoding Mode: Disabled and Cutting Mode: Automatic. These options should only be used for sources that don't work well with the defaults so people can try different options to make things work. In such a case feedback is welcome so I can further improve the default handling.

I am stuck using Xp sp3. I used nic audio on another Ac3 source where I was getting "washy" sound previously using besweet, I then added the f 1 switch in besweet to try and correct the sound issue. It didn't work. When I decoded same material with NicAudio I didn't get the washy effect so I thoug I would try NicAudio as default, but maybe this isn't possible.

@flebber
I tried to reproduce it, decoding with NicAudio followed by BeSweet encoding, no problems. After reviewing the code the only reason I found for a second decoding is the audio profile don't support wav, the default profiles support this though. Easiest the way to find the problem is having diagnostic files so I can load the project to see what settings you were using, just load the project under File/Recent Project and choose Help/Make Bug Report, it guides you then to mail me the files.

Hi Stax,
With 1.1.1.6, can't open AVI files!
I've only tried with XVID based AVI files, but the message is:
Failed to open file!
Are you missing a codec?
Please install and configure ffdshow tryouts!
Codec: XVID
C:\Downloads\Video\(filename.avi)
I've installed the latest revision of ffdshow from xvidvideo.ru, I've also tried the latest 3069 revision from ffdshow-tryouts, and also installing xvid codec, nothing worked! I'll have to use 1.1.1.5 preview 3 for the meantime :(
Edit: Well, I just copied over the 1.1.1.5 preview 3 staxrip.exe, leaving the other files as is. Works perfectly, the error is in 1.1.1.6!

stax76, wanted you to confirm a doubt, put 3 files in line with a template determining 172 mb in size, I thought it was for each file has 172 mb, but in a specific group of files, were much higher than intended The problem is Xvid? Note was converting mkv to avi (xvid + mp3)
burfadel
19th September 2009, 11:36
I think there's a problem with 1.1.1.6's detection of an xvid codec, this occurs running Windows 7 x64. Every other version of Staxrip I've used, both now and in the past hasn't had this problem! :)

@Havokdan
After the batch processing load the projects (File -> Recent Projects) and look what size it shows, take also a look at the log files (Tools -> Show Log File).
@burfadel
It tries to open avi files using VFW and shows this message when it fails, here it opens XviD files, it won't be easy to find out why it fails on your system, my only guess atm. is it happens only on 64 bit systems.
burfadel
19th September 2009, 13:33
ah ok! its just strange that every version up to 1.1.1.5 preview 3 worked, then 1.1.1.6 it didn't :) I just simply copied the 1.1.1.5 staxrip.exe over the 1.1.1.6 one, works perfectly, try again with the 1.1.1.6, no luck!...
stax76
19th September 2009, 13:39
The verification is new in 1.1.1.6, does the XviD file load in the 32-bit version of VirtualDub?
burfadel
19th September 2009, 13:54
The AVI's load fine in Virtualdub 1.9.4 and in Virtualdubmod. At a complete and utter guess, I'd say Staxrip is possibly?... looking for a x64 version of xvid on the system, even though if it were there it couldn't use it anyway?... since I don't have x64 ffdshow or x64 xvid installed.
stax76
19th September 2009, 14:46
@burfadel
It loads the AVI file exactly the same as the AVS file using the avifile API (VFW), if it fails throwing a exception StaxRip assumes a codec is missing and thus don't use it's exception handling but shows the codec message. I'll upload a debug build handling the exception instead, I hope this way we can find out more.
stax76

@flebber
Thanks for mailing the diagnostic files, I found some issues and will fix 'em but forcing decoding and using a 6 channel audio profile will create a huge wav file. Sooner or later I will add support piping from AviSynth, it's not a big task, it's just so far I don't see great benefit in it. There should be ways to convert a AC3 file directly per command line without intermediate wav file since you are not cutting.

a lot of problems. The MeGUI Profiles are gone, and I cannot recreate the settings from the XBMC Wiki page above.
When I just add the commandline I get a ton of errors.
Any suggestions?
I am using 1.1.1.5 beta BTW.

I'll check again when I convert the file. You can add the hours in Staxlog?. It's what I want to know the duration of each operation. I still have a problem with the conversion using DivX, the K-lite version (6.8.2) gives an error at the time of open VirtualDub mod, when I take the k-lite and install the Divx version VFW (VFW only, 6.8 .0) converts, but that error at the end of that encode I reported before continuing, I wonder if it only works properly with the official site of DivX (bloatware)?

Indeed, using the Xvid file size is totally different, in 8 files that converted only 4 remained with approximate size desired, 3 were much higher and others much smaller.

On various processing steps there is a time and there is a overall time.
gives an error at the time of open VirtualDub mod
Please use 1.1.1.6 and post the error message.

When you load a project of a too big file what does the filesize in the StaxRip main dialog look like? Is it the desired filesize or is it too big too? If it's not too big then it's likely not a StaxRip bug but you can still mail me the log file.

All my templates are for creating files of 172 MB, including the Default Template, but the file at a time out with another 93 mb to 280 mb, I open the file file in MediaInfo is the bitrate of the video is very different in what was displayed in StaxRip unfortunately I did the donkey to delete the files, I'm currently converting the same files via script done in notepad (DirectShowSource + Virtualdub) to see if the problem is with Xvid, I convert the back end and send you the log. Thank you. Note: When I used Divx (6.8.0) worked properly, except the error at the end of the encode (in the same error that I reported on earlier), but the file is normal, without error and about the size as indicated :) .

The problem was in the xvid, I had the same problem in VirtualDub, although the difference is smaller, the way is to try the divx.

Stax, did versions prior to 1.1.1.6 use VFW to open xvid as well? I think for newer versions of Windows such as Windows 7 Directshow may be the better course of action, since VFW is a relic of the Windows 3.1/9x days...

Taxi still crashes after audio encoding when ffmpeg starts(as with files I sent you for 1.1.6) not sure what is happening there, I used same settings and different input and it worked fine.
Having a little absent minded problem I do I set staxrip to import chapters from input and apply to final file?
@ turok did you right click on filters window and select edit. and add filter in format
filter = filter(settings).anyOtherFilter(Settings)

How do I set the resolution of a template? I try to convert a series of videos (Batch Conversion) from 720p to 720x400, but the Stax always changes to the resolution of 672x384.

@flebber
Sorry, I forgot to fix it, I'll do tommorow (no programming today). StaxRip don't extract chapters, it wasn't a issue in the past as DVD Decrypter did it, since then nobody made a request IIRC.
@Havokdan
StaxRip has a lot aspect ratio and resizing related options, please search and try to understand these options. (In the options dialog disable 'Auto resize image size'.
