I just downloaded all available BeLight Versions from Corecodec and the one KurtNoise mirrored:
Just checked with two different scanners.
No Viruses or whatsoever.
So I think it's false alarm.
Which scanner gave you this message?
Cheers

Tnx. Kurtnoise13, the miror is fine :),
I'm very careful with my security settings, I'm running hardware firewall with NAT, Zone Alarm, Protowall, FireFox, and Symantec Antivirus with today's updates.
As soon I disabled everything today and went to the corecodec web site, Symantec popped up with a message "vtzx.exe Trojan Dropper"
I did full scan after that and everything looks fine, so I don't know what happend.
Anyway, keep up the good work, I like the new features.

well I think this is the first and I really wish I could give more information but unfortunaely no error logs were made because it was so sudden.
after encoding of AAC completed you have to press the green arrow to go back to the main screen. well I hit it and then blamo access violation and for only the 3rd time in the 3 years I've had this computer I got the blue screen of death.
Here are my system specs if that might help
Pentium 3 Mobile 1.13ghz
256MB SODIMM DDR 133 mhz RAM
32MB nvidia geforce2 do
20GB Hitachi HDD
Crystal Audio Sound
I also got this error message the very first time I tried the new beta
Violation d'accès à l'adresse 004A4DFC dans le module 'BeLight.exe'. Lecture de l'adresse 000002FC.
the second time I tried it I got the much worse BSOD and then a system reboot. any ideas?

oh yeah and it also ignores all AAC encoding settings. no matter what you use for bitrate it always ends up as 56kbps audio.
using oagmachine and the offical setup screen for nero audio it encodes it at the proper bitrate settings.

I like the blue screen of the death...:D
BTW, I fixed this error. So, be patient to have a new beta or try to use a *stable" release (0.21).

When uninstalling the Nero package 1 and 2 (the demos), the latest alpha doesn't work without it for AAC encoding, even though I got all the dlls in the right folder and everything. However, the latest stable release does work with AAC encoding.

Feature request (maybe call it bug fixing).
If I transcode file.mp3 (128k) to file.mp3 (64k) belight should first write a temp file something like file.mp3.tmp and when the transcoding is complete delete original file.mp3 and rename file.mp3.tm to file.mp3. Right now if I do such a thing a 0 byte file is generated.
Add GUI options for permanent command line switches like -noid3 and removing the -logfile switch.
Thanks and keep up the good work

STEPS I've done:
"Fresh Install"
Start BeLight
Click on Presets -> load AC3 Dolby WAV 5.1
Close BeLight
When I now start BeLight it crashes. Perhaps some problem with the ini files since nothing else changed?
Huh I suddenly started to get this error out of no where. Though I didnt touch the AC3 tab only mp3 :S

Can you explain why would you like to have a such feature ?
It could be dangerous to delete original file if you have miss something in the command line...;)

because right now it generates a 0 byte file and maybe you could add a prompt asking whether the file should be over written or not.
Can you make the advanced settings store in a file also like the codec setings...like if I select disable log file it is always like that and the file can have a text entry like "logfile=0"
Bug Report:
when I add a file.mp3 and select bitrate etc in the mp3 tab then I edit the command line to change file-new.mp3 to file2.mp3 and run it instead of using file2.mp3 it still uses file-new.mp3 as the name of the file.
After clicking run the command like window doesnt disappear which I think should happen.
Just a question wouldn't it be better using the besweet.dll instead of the exe?

Aah then another bug report BeLight doesn't remember old settings. If I uncheck "output logfile" encode a file and then restart belight the checkbox is again which should be unchecked.

Aah that is true...I am not much of a coder but I have seen that using external exes causes more problems than using libraries...but it works alright till now so no complaints here
Another request when "Restrict encoder to cbr" is checked the bar in mp3 tab should move in jumps i.e from 64 to 128 to 160 to 192 (just like mp2 tab)... right now it works ok if the slider is around the bitrate but seems slightly confusing.
A request for the future...I think this should be targeted at the BeSweet author but using the tag library from http://www.neilpopham.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/tag.html tag retention could be added.

Hi Kurtnoise13,
I just discovered you GUI by chance seeing it in your sig and I went to check it out.
I must say I was really impressed with it and have now switched to your GUI.
I find the default BeSweet GUI a bit mind boggling and confusing at times but your one is easier on the eyes and far better laid out and easier to get to grips with for noobs.
Great work I wish you luck with furthur development and improvements.
Keep up the great work. Love this GUI. :D

Nothing really fresh to add here, just wanna say: I can confirm this.
Source is ac3, producing aac.
At the end it says "Transcoding aborted" in info field, but the resulting file plays fine so far, correct length.
If possible in any way, the "pregain" progress should be indicated as such, or as a job itself. It was confusing that at first both the current track and total progress bar quickly reached 100% and then restarted while as seen below the total bars percent indication shows o% all the time.
Apart from this, great job, Kurt!

Yes I know...it can be confusing. I parse only the duration from the CLI that's why we have this problem but I'll try to tweak this.
Sorry for the delay concerning the new release...I try to add lst & mux input files and it's not easy with the new batch mode.

Apart from the bug that you have already fixed above, I only have one other problem. I get this error when I launch beta1 on 3 different machines here. It appears to be an access violation? It appears twice in a row, I click ok for both and then Belight launches and operates smoothly:)
Picture attached waiting for approval.

Hi,
Apologies if this question has been posted before. I am using Besweet 1.5 b29 Belite gui 0.21 on Win ME.
The start button doesn't appear at 800x600 screen resolution, so I can't begin encoding. Have to change settings to 1024x768.
Is there any way around this? I have 15" monitor and want to use 800x600 not 1024x768.
Thanks in advance for any advice/help.

I know your main interest currently lies in developpment of YAMB, which is a nice GUI also.
But I hope you will continue on this one.
There's a bug in the recent version: manual delay settings (not via file name detection) doesn't seem to be considered while the command line does contain the corresponding switch.
I was trying to transcode wav->aac.
The same procedure worked with BeSweet GUI v0.7b8

I hope nobody mentioned it before:
If I manually edit the delay it is correctly shown in the command line (see picture) but obviously not used.
delay.jpg (http://www.bugie.de/delay.jpg)
The log file:
BeSweet.exe -core( -input ac3 t01 3_2ch 448kbps delay 0ms.ac3
-output ac3 t01 3_2ch 448kbps delay 0ms.mp4 -logfile ac3 t01 3_2ch
448kbps delay 0ms.log ) -azid( -s stereo -c light -L -3db )
-bsn( -6chnew -vbr_streaming -aacprofile_he ) -ota( -d 0 -g max )
Anyway, it's a great GUI: When do you release the next version?

I put online a version with installer (http://corecodec.org/frs/?group_id=45&release_id=76) (BeLight 0.21 + BeSweet 1.5b29 + dlls updated).
input dts files is almost finished (see picture).
I added a lst writer (see picture).
mulltilanguage support has been completely rewritten.
last thing : I need to finish & fix several bugs before to release a new one...
Thanks for your patience...:)

Anyway, i think i found another bug. Just for the case you don't already know it:
If i first set the settings for a 5.1 AAC file and then open the file i wanna transcode, acid settings are reset to the default value "-azid( -s stereo -c normal -L -3db )"! It doesn't matter if i use the preset or set it manually, it happens in both cases.
If i first open the file to transcode and afterwards set the settings, everything works alright.

Hi, Kurtnoise13
First I'd like to thank you for your great Besweet GUI!
Then I wish to know about its option to output in 5.1 ogg:
-Is it the same than "FL, C, FR, SL, SR, LFE" , "FL, FR, C, LFE, SL, SR" , or "FL, FR, C, SL, SR, LFE" in 5.1 ogg with latest besweet GUI v0.7 b8 ?
-Is it the same than 5.1 old or 5.1 new in Oagmachine ?

No, it's not the same thing. In BeSweetGUI you can choose the channels ordering for vorbis 5.1 streams. I'd recommend you to keep the first one.
-Is it the same than 5.1 old or 5.1 new in Oagmachine ?
Nope...this concerns the choice between the old and the new AAC Nero plugins (see Q21 from AAC FAQ (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=68300#post424070)).
Kurtnoise13 great work on the GUI, few minor issues, if you could squeeze the file input area it would fit much nicer into 800x600 resolution.
can you add a more specific progress information, the way it is given by BeSweet, like transcoding, encoding and the progress of timeline.
Kurtnoise
7th June 2005, 12:36
Try the last beta release...it's little bit buggy but you can see the progress, etc...
do you mean 0.22 beta 1 ? i did i saw the progress bar which is great, what i meant was the actual running numbers like you get from the BeSweet command line.
