Hi guys,

Actually, I'm developping a new Graphical User Interface for BeSweet, one of the best audio tools for transcoding. ;) Why a new one ? Coz the official from DaniDin seems to be out dated now (AAC support by example) and there are some bugs (Dialog Normalisation Reduction...). In addition, some newbies can be troubled by the interface...That's why I created BeLight (http://coreforge.org/projects/belight/). :D

New thread for BeLight can be found here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=122700)

http://kurtnoise.free.fr/BeLight/BeLight.gif

Features :
- AC3, WAV, OGG, MP2, MP3, AVI, VOB, LST & MUX in input.
- AAC/MP4 (3GP Reference, Faac, Nero Digital and WinAmp encoders), AC3, MP2 (tooLame or MP2Enc), MP3 (Lame), VORBIS, WAV and AIFF in ouput.
- Most of BeSweet functions (Gain, SSRC, Boost, Partial Encoding, Change Frame Rate, Soundtouch...)
- MultiLanguages Support (German, Spanish, French, English, Polish, Russian, Portuguese, Slovenian, Hungarian, Serbian, Italian, Japanese, Greek, Nederlands...more are welcome ;))
- Delay Detection for input files.
- Some AAC/AC3/MP2/MP3/VORBIS/WAV Presets.
- Mux File Wizard (in version 0.22)
- File List Creator (in version 0.22)

Notes :
- For the moment, BeLight 0.22 branches doesn't support AVI, VOB Files as input files. If you want to use these formats, I'd suggest you to try BeLight 0.21 instead.
- For AVI and VOB as input files you need VOBinput.dll (http://besweet.notrace.dk/VOBInput.zip).
- Tu use negative q values for Vorbis Transcoding, libvorbis.dll (http://www.rarewares.org/ogg.html) is needed.
- If CoreCodec.org is down, you can grab the last versions here (http://kurtnoise.free.fr/BeLight/).
- There are 3 packages now at CoreCodec.org (Normal, Lancer and P4). The main difference between these 3 builds comes from libvorbis. The Normal version corresponds to normal libvorbis.dll, Lancer bundle is optimized for speed without loose quality and P4 version refers to libvorbis.dll optimized for Pentium4 core. In addition, all versions use AoTuv enhancements.

How to use it :
First, grab the last BeSweet beta release in DSPGuru web Site (http://www.dspguru.doom9.net).Second, put BeLight in the same folder as BeSweet and load it.
Or you can install directly some BeLight package available in CoreCodec.org.

How to report some bugs:
Try to describe your bugs with some precision. First, post your complete logfile (which is in your input folder). And eventually the BeLight messages errors.

On my To Do List :
- Job List Support.
- BeSplit functions.
- UpMix functions.

Ok for the hints...I'll add them in the next releases.

My bad...This is a bug with Job List tab.:( I'll correct it. For the moment, don't push the Job List tab when you want to transcode. Stay in Output Audio Format tab.

Ok...I see.

And yes, I'll add some presets. It's in my todo list now.

@Kurtnoise13

If you already didn't add this, please consider disallowing the non-working resampling and changing frame rate (using BeSweet's internal routine) at the same time - or changing it so that SoundTouch is used, I think that works with simultaneous resampling.

Kurtnoise
19th November 2004, 16:31
@Jorel : did you use a firewall ?? coz all works fine here...:) Try it again maybe the server has some problems sometimes.

@Boulder : BeLight use -soundtouch routine for the Changing Frame Rate. ;) I tested quickly resampling + changing frame rate and all seems to be ok...

It's not necessary...:D BeSweet has already AVI/VOB support as input files. Yes, one more thing on my todo list.

I'll post a new release tonight. ;)

I have a question concerning AAC settings:

Is it possible to add the profiles (first line) of the orginal Nero encoder settings. see here what I mean (http://people.freenet.de/pipliner/Nero.png)

It's helpful because the profiles show an overview of all seetings:
VBR/CBR
kbps range
VBR modes
AAC profiles

Great work, Kurt!

BeLight definitely has a much easier to understand interface than BeSweetGUI.
And not only that: Even this first release does everything I'll ever need of BeSweet's features.

Only thing I'm missing at the moment is a show/copy command line function. I've already seen the checkbox in advanced options though, so I won't push you.

Here it is...the 0.16 (http://atlas2.tgv.net/~media-video/forum2/download.php?id=1545) is out ;)

Changelog:
- Corrected typos.
- Fixed some internal errors.
- Added Presets for AAC. --> yeahh filewalker ;)
- Added SuperEqualizer.
- Much More Hints.

I might be just dumb but how do I get the conversion process to start? There's no start button. I put BeLight.exe in the same folder as BeSweet.exe and BeSweetGUI.exe. I clicked to add to job list but nothing happened.

Edit:
Nevermind! Found it at the very bottom. It was hidden due to my 800x600 resolution. :o

really nice and very clear interface.
good work.
much better than the other gui.

what i would really like is the possiblility to switch between single input file (wav, mp3, ac3, mux, lst,...) and a multifile input mode.

not a single inputbox like now but six (maybe a flexible number for general multichannel usage) independend input boxes, with nice labels (front right, front left, center, rear left, rear right, lfe) in front of them. so i can independently assign my mono wav files, your prog generates the needed listfile in background and runs the besweet with this file. would be really great, so i don't have to play around with annoying listfiles.

Well...I don't think it's really necessary. For multiple mono input files, you can use already lst file for that. It should work great. ;)

But for this :
what i would really like is the possiblility to switch between single input file (wav, mp3, ac3, mux, lst,...)
It's the main purpose of the Job List management. It will be perfect for that I think. ;) I'm working on it...

One big request!

what about a GUI for besplit -> every time I use it, I have to switch back in good old commandline times!

I can´t code and if I could, this would be the first on my list!

Maybe Kurtnoise13 or anyone else could take a look on this and create a nice GUI for little Daphy  :D  ;)

For people who want to make a translation in your own language :
1°) Download this file (http://atlas2.tgv.net/~media-video/forum2/download.php?id=1548) and just do it.
2°) Please, respect the digits order and save your file by putting your own language in the name (by example : English.txt or Français.txt or Deutsh.txt or ελληνικός.txt or italiano.txt, etc...).
3°) When it's done, mail me the translated file at kurtnoise at free dot fr or PM here.

Thanks.

Hi Jorel, like i said in the last post, i have the same problem. I'm also from south america (Argentina).

Copy the url posted by Kurtnoise13, enter this site: http://anonymouse.ws and paste it.

I had some free time: German translation done.
Kurt, you got mail.

Stumbled over something in tooltip 2104 (OTA gain mode):
"For aac/mp4, use PostGain."
Shouldn't this read "use PreGain" as no AAC decoder reads postgain tags at the moment?
Kurt, if I'm wrong, could you please change 2104 in my translated file to "postgain", thx.

Is it me or is the 'alt-prest abr' function broken from within the GUI? My output is always 128kbps no matter what bitrate what I ask for.

Hi --

Nice interface.

A couple of recommendations:

The program should know to open in the center of the screen based on the size/resolution of that particular machine. We have several machines with differing screen resolutions, and BeLight opens in a different place on screen on each one. On our notebook with an 1280x800 screen, BeLight opens with about a third of its window lost from sight below the bottom of the screen, and it has to be dragged to the center of the screen.

On our machines with 1024x768 screens the BeLight window opens with its bottom and right sides hidden from view. Also, even when one drags it to the center of the screen the window is a little bit too big for the screen at that resolution.

I have a feeling your monitor is set at 1280x1024, because on our machine with that resolution BeLight opens pretty much right in the middle of the screen

And, as mentioned by others, implementing direct imput of VOB files would be great.

Best of luck, and congrats on a nice interface.

Hi Kurtnoise:

I checked ver 0.17 on our various machines and it opens properly in the center of the screen on all of them. Nice job. Also, it is no longer too big for 1024x768.

The change did introduce a small problem with the font layout in the interface, probably caused by the fact that we use the "Large Size (120 DPI)" font size setting on all our XP machines.

The resizing you did of your program's window makes several instances of text lines get cut off at the end of the line. For instance, in the WAV/PCM tab, each instance of the word "wave" next to the output channel radio buttons is missing one or more letters.

I can e-mail you a couple of screen shots if that would help.

Making the whole BeLight window a little wider might solve the problem, or using a slightly smaller typefont.

Best regards.

Hi Krutnoise,

is it possible to make a nice GUI menue for MUX/LST file list where it´s possible simply to mark the files (or selecting the path to the single file - like your input/output option) in order FL,FR,C,LFE,SL,SR to create an automatic MUX list or file1,file2... for LST?

I guess this would be a very confortable addon for all users!
