in BeSweet I'd say yes...I made a short test with a 5.1 AC3 and compared it with fc -> no differences. So it seems that you are right. ;)

I use belight to encode some wav into mp3 (i use avi2wav which extracts audio stream from video files and saves it as wav),but i even though belight says encodning is complete i don't get any output files! Here's the log:

Hi,
Could you post somewhere a short sample of your wav file ?
All in all, BeSweet is able to transcode audio stream from avi to mp3...So, demux is not needed in this case. For that, you need BeLight 0.21. AVI as input file is not supported yet with 0.22 branch...
Chris Benoit
7th January 2006, 00:26
Actually it was saves as wav from avi2wav but it was an mp3!When i used avicodec to determine what kind of file it was it said something about mp3 dsh. Also i used vdubmod to demux as mp3 and it still gave me an error!
I'll try the version 0.21 and will notify you if the problem persists.

7th January 2006, 00:39
I tried it and it didn't work with avi input. It just popped a dos screen that disappered instantly. On the other hand i managed to transcode the so called wav (dsh mp3) but it took too darn long.
What are your thoughts?

Could someone explain to me ( awesome software / gui btw ) how to convert a batch from say 320kbps down to 128 abr? I'm sure it's simple just can't see how.

Could someone explain to me ( awesome software / gui btw ) how to convert a batch from say 320kbps down to 128 abr? I'm sure it's simple just can't see how.
1/ File --> Open and select all your input files.
2/ Click on mp3 tab and select bitrate Mode with 128kbps. The slidebar is helpful.
3/ Click on "Start Processing" to run the process.
BeLight 0.22xxx is required. (try the daily build first).
@All: a new build will be out very soon...

No.... yet.... :(
Could you or someone else test the last build ? Thanks..
I wouldnīt have bothered u without trying all options... Thatīs what I think is weird. Because I set a new name for the output file in Save..., no errors there (msgs or long abnormal filenames), but it ends up being the same as the input. Maybe Iīm the only one getting this.
It should be ok now in the last daily build.

Great. Iīll test the s**t out of it... :)
Did u enabled the .mux input features? cause I was hoping to beta-test it also with large files (> 2Gb), and using the .mux format allows me to keep the different-channel WAVs < 1Gb, therefore not bugging DirectShow.
A workaround to large files could be to enable .avs input. Iīve opened with .avs scripts all the large files that DirectShow used to choked on (but Iīm not a coder myself, donīt know if this would require too much unnecessary code rewriting to be achievable).

You already searched why with these newer builds is possible to maximize the window and with the old beta 8 for example is not? When it is runing ok (no resizing problem) it is maximizeable?

@Kurtnoise...no I have NEVER had any resizing issue...I think I posted this way back. Only issue I ever had was the quality delimiters moving around in a weird way when I did a manual resize...this was fixed months ago though. I use XP pro if that helps.

This GUI is a lot easier to understand than the original thanks for making it. I think a useful feature would be to have it recognize that if the input is not a wav then it should convert frame rate using ota instead of soundtouch.

Resuming (new compile):
- on AC3 input, the Delay is set automatically to 5 ms and the DRC to Enabled. After disabling, the DRC and Delay are enabled back whenever u click within the file list window but mouse-over does nothing, so Iīm able to move the mouse without a problem (so I donīt care...).
- on WAV input, the DRC is disabled whenever u click within the file list window (but this is no issue since WAVs have no DRC :)).
- when manul Gain enabled, Normalize gets greyed (canīt be enabled), and when Gain is disabled, Gain itslef is greyed, but Normalize is de-greyed.
Enabling and disabling Normalize de-greys Gain minor issue (wouldnīt call it a bug).
- kudos to the manual Gain anyway (uhuu!!).
- the channel mapping works great, no need to remap for HE-AAC :D.
- resizing OK. Stays resized after close. No crashing or bugging after re-starting resized.
- iīll test full movie-length files when .mux enabled (or .avs support :D).
- 5.1 WAV from 5.1 AC3 not happening. Settings are WAV 16bits 5.1 Wave, no DRC, no Delay, everything disabled on azid but Gain: 2dB (but CLI says "-azid( -s stereo -c normal -L -3db ) -ota( -d 5 )").
Command line from BeLight reports this:
BeSweet.exe -core( -input "C:\Documents and Settings\Athlon XP\Mis documentos\Audio\Hitchhiker Dolby EX 5.1.ac3" -output "C:\Documents and Settings\Athlon XP\Mis documentos\Audio\Hitchhiker Dolby EX 5.1.ogg" -logfile "C:\Documents and Settings\Athlon XP\Mis documentos\Audio\Hitchhiker Dolby EX 5.1.log" ) -azid( -s stereo -c normal -L -3db ) -ota( -d 5 ) -ogg( -q 0.200 -6ch 1 )
And Log reports:

Same problem.... :(
test me (http://kurtnoise.free.fr/BeLight/test_build.zip)...
- on AC3 input, the Delay is set automatically to 5 ms
well...if you input filename has a 5ms value, it's completely normal.
- when manul Gain enabled, Normalize gets greyed (canīt be enabled), and when Gain is disabled, Gain itslef is greyed, but Normalize is de-greyed.
We can't use both normalize + Manual Gain. That's why you need to choose either manual gain switch or normalize.
- 5.1 WAV from 5.1 AC3 not happening.
indeed...it's fixed.
I think a useful feature would be to have it recognize that if the input is not a wav then it should convert frame rate using ota instead of soundtouch.
Indeed...it's on my todo list. :)

Hitchhiker Dolby EX 5.1.ac3
The name doesnīt have a "Delay_5ms" structure to be detected. Unless the "5.1" is interpreted as a delay....?
We can't use both normalize + Manual Gain. That's why you need to choose either manual gain switch or normalize.
I know, the thing is (forget about Normalize in this) if I enable Gain and then I disable it, the Gain is greyed (it goes from selectable, click once --> enabled, click again --> disabled and greyed). THEN I enable Normalize and disable it back, and the Gain is de-greyed (I just enable/disable Normalize to get the Gain de-greyed).

I'm curious: what was the problem? Was something very dumb but hard to find or was something more complex?
And now it still has the maximization button, and when I use that it only move to the upper left of the screen, don't maximize or nothing. But that is not a big deal.
:thanks: for all the hard work.
Kurtnoise
10th January 2006, 18:34
As you can see, the problem comes from Maximize. So, for the moment this is disabled. Don't know how to solve this. *__*

@Kurtnoise13BeSweet doesn't need to extract audio streams from AVI.Please clarify, as I don't understand your reply. Version 0.21 of BeLight (in conjunction with BeSweet) allows for extracting the audiostream from .AVIs, while v.0.22beta8 does not.
I was just asking if this ability will be re-instated, to which you've answered, "But yes, It's planned..."

Please clarify, as I don't understand your reply. Version 0.21 of BeLight (in conjunction with BeSweet) allows for extracting the audiostream from .AVIs, while v.0.22beta8 does not.
Demuxing means that we extract each streams from the container. However, BeSweet doesn't extract each streams because with this own plugin it is able to find the first audio stream directly.
Re-installing is not the appropriate term because 0.21 and 0.22 branches are completely different in the code. Especially running process. So, I try to make my best. Stay tuned.

thank you for the new build... nice features added :)
and before someone asks (as I did :D )
- There are 3 packages now at CoreCodec.org (Normal, Lancer and P4). The main difference between these 3 builds comes from libvorbis. The Normal version corresponds to normal libvorbis.dll, Lancer bundle is optimized for speed without loose quality and P4 version refers to libvorbis.dll optimized for Pentium4 core. In addition, all versions use AoTuv enhancements.
