It's because BeLight doesn't like that you transcode a lossy file to an other lossy file.... :sly: :D

More seriously. The extension of your input file is in capital letter, right ? If yes rename it in lower case. I just fixed this issue...

btw, try to describe the bugs more precisely in the future...Copy here the logfile at least. Thanks.

No, actually the extension was lower case. The file did transcode correctly, it was just that the progress bar moved far too quickly for the actual work being done. Oh, and the final percentages were 0% as well. There were no anomalies in the logfile..

mmmh strange...So, :logfile: In addition, try to create a short sample from your input file and then send it to me.

Sorry this question has been answered before, I search but didn't find a posting. When I use belight 0.22b5 it sometimes brings up a popbox saying "This is the commandline verison a GUI is available at dspguru.doom9.org" I've tried rename besweet.exe file and have only a besweet.dll file in the belight folder, but that doesn't work. I've only started to get this popbox w/ the 0.22b5 update.

huh ?

1/ Did you grab the whole package or only the .zip file ?

2/ Did you use/write your own command line in the dedicated area ?

Suggestion : grab the BeLight-0.22b5_General.exe package and install it. It contains all the necessary. Then run BeLight and load your files. No need to rename something.

i have the p4.exe version , but aac encoding won't complete, even when those nero aac dll's are copied in belight folder

Did you read my last posts above ? Try to describe more precisely your problem... :angry: Is it too complicated for you, humm ??? I don't know what kind of input file did you use..What command ? and the logfile where is it ? Extension of your input file is in lower case ? If it's in capital letter try to change it...

I have convert mulity ac3 files to wav,the ac3 file in bottom of list have been convert like other list item but no wav files generated.
if I convert 01.ac3,02.ac3,03.ac3,there is still have decoding step on 03.ac3,but no 03.wav&03.log produced.

if I unchecked 01 and 02 in list,then do the convert,after 2 minunts,there still no more output files.

I need to tune again some different things but it works. This weekend I'll release a new beta with this trick.

PIV version works great for me here. GUI still has a bug where it sometimes defaults to Spanish language when launched though. Great tool though!

a) Partial encoding doesn't work. it doesn't cut the right timeframe
b) if you encode something, then try to encode it again in a different format. An About box comes up and you have to restart the program to encode the same file again.

How do you save the file you are encoding to a different folder? It will only save it in the source folder for me.

@Deckerr

In the FIle menu, select Save and choose a folder. :)

EDIT: I just tested what I said above and it doesn't work. Another bug?

I even checked the BeSweet Command Line from the Edit Menu and although the commandline had the correct output Path that I selected in the Save option, BeLight still saved my resulting .mp2 in the same folder as the source. :(

Not sure if this has been mentioned but the ac3 to mp2 preset uses Hybrid gain as the default this setting causes nothing but problems on mp2. when muxing with mpv/m2v etc the audio is fine for about 5 mins then cuts out have tested this on multiple files using various settings and it always comes down to hybrid gain where as pre gain works perfectly.

small request, would it be possible to store the presets in a ini file so we could use our own or edit the originals. ?

If it works with pregain, than use it instead of hybridgain.

if you use always the same settings for your own audio format, BeLight enables to remember your last settings when you (re)load it.

and my last sentence for Doom9... :) I hope you read it.

First of all, thank you for these great guides. If I had known that one day I would have seen my work on your website, I won't believe it... :p

So, I would like to point you some 2-3 notes :
For AAC :

Check Quality to select the encoding mode: Fast speeds up encoding at the expense of quality, and High does just the inverse.
The Fast & High Modes have the same speed up for encoding. The big difference is that the Fast Mode seems to use now a new encoding engine which gives the best results. That's why in the last BeLight beta I switch the AAC presets with this Mode.

For Vorbis :
First, I won't recommend to use OggDSF now. It's not updated and not developped anymore. For decoding, I would recommend to have the last CoreVorbis and to encode within BeSweet, I prefer to have the libvorbis.

In general : can I put a web link of your audio guides directly in my BeLight packages ?

btw, :thanks:

First, I won't recommend to use OggDSF now.Did I? I thought I recommended libvorbis but it looks like I was wrong. I guess I should also replace the oggds filters on my site with something else. Any suggestions?

thxs for the reply :D i have a mate testing my findings at the moment, from what i seen its related to the header somehow because the files are exactly the same size. but when muxed together with the mpv/m2v behave diffrently.

i had noticed that it saves the settings however it does not respect those settings i have to deselect them then reselect them for instance i had pregain selected but it used hybrid gain also priority setting seems to always default back to high. :confused:

IIRC, bsn uses High Mode by default.

Did I?
Not exactly but I've seen that you mention this OggDSF filter. :) The only thing which could be interesting with this filter it's to have the possibility to encode in vorbis with some DirectShow tools. But it's not up-to-date.

Any suggestions?
Like I said, I vote for CoreVorbis concerning decoding stream. For encoding, it depends of the tools. For BeSweet, I vote for libvorbis.dll. I'll try to bump DSPguru to include this library directly in BeSweet package.

for pregain/hybridgain : it depends of your output formats.

i have added a few log files to my earlier post that shows the diffrence between hybrid and pregain looks like it stops muxing at a frame early on. namely its just the mode hybrid/pregain/postgain where it fails to detect the changes on starting up however selecting and deselecting fixes it. prority would be a nice feature as high has a habit of killing the computer. :D

Hi Kurt,
a little bug report here. I am using BeLight v22b6 and it seems to not save the priority. I put it to "idle' and when I run the program next time it's not set to anything in the menu. And when I start processing it doesn't feel like idle either.
There is also another trick it can't do. I open an ac3 file. Set it to be recoded into mp3 with abr 128. Run it. Then without closing it or anything I rename the new mp3 file and switch BeSweet from "bitrate" to "quality". If I try to run it again now, it says "This is a command line program. You can download a GUI for it at: http://DSPguru.doom9.org"
Thanks!

I'm not sure if this feature is fully functional but in the last version it seemed to be working except the last file in the queue wouldn't go through. however in this version, it seems that sometimes it tries to put through all the files in the queue at once and messes up so nothing happens and when it does work the filenames come out correct but the content of the output files is all mixed up. I've been getting duplicate audio files in content eventhough the names of the files are correct.

for example:

1a.ac3 --> 1a.mp4 (correct)
1b.ac3 --> 1b.mp4 (correct)
2a.ac3 --> 2a.mp4 (when I listen to it, it's actually 1a)
2b.ac3 --> 2b.mp4 (actually 3b)
3a.ac3 --> 3a.mp4 (actually 4a)
3b.ac3 --> 3b.mp4 (actually 1b)
4a
4b
etc. (I think you get the picture)

is anyone else having this problem? sorry if someone else has posted about this already...

1a.ac3 --> 1a.mp4 (correct)
1b.ac3 --> 1b.mp4 (correct)
2a.ac3 --> 2a.mp4 (when I listen to it, it's actually 1a)
2b.ac3 --> 2b.mp4 (actually 3b)
3a.ac3 --> 3a.mp4 (actually 4a)
3b.ac3 --> 3b.mp4 (actually 1b)
4a
4b
etc. (I think you get the picture)

is anyone else having this problem? sorry if someone else has posted about this already...
I'll check this...Thanks for the bug report.

Probably yes...but I need to test it before. ;)

Good job anyway. Now, if you have too much free time an avs plugin for besweet could be great also...
