@Kurtnoise13: Since when? I grabbed the source from the CVS a week ago and it requires JVCL for some kind of buttons. I'll try again tomorrow.

I like BeLight very much. Good work!
What I like most is the ability to use Winamp's aacPlus-Enc :)
In the current Beta I found two problems so far:
1. The bitrate-selector for AAC (Encoder Engine = Winamp) is not very convenient! Could you add a better (more precise) way to select the bitrate? I would perfer a simple drop-down menu, but something like the quality-selector on the VORBIS tab would be nice too...
2. I think the drop-down menu's shuld be read-only. At the moment I can focus one of them and type complete crap into it. IMO the value for "TComboBox.Style" should be "csDropDownList" instead of "csDropDown". I'm a Delphi guy :D I got now idea how it is called in other languages...

This is exactly what BeLight does...;) It adds _1 in your output filename.
Sorry, it does not! It just overwrites the existing file without warning. I've tested that with the latest build (20052309). IMO this should be changed...
BTW: Would be nice to be able to select the output folder

No, I won't add this thing...I can add an edit area for sure but that's all.
2. I think the drop-down menu's shuld be read-only. At the moment I can focus one of them and type complete crap into it.
Well...do you want my feelings about this ? It's completely useless. A drop-down list is made to select something not just to see or to read a value. Period.

It works when we exit/reload the app. It doesn't works properly when we keep BeLight open... Thanks for the bugreport. I'll fixt it.

Please look at this screenshot, that's not very precise, eh? The slider is left from the 48kbps Label's center, but the value is 49kbps. Furthermore the only way to check the exact value us this nasty Hint message. Wouldn't it be possible make it similar to the VORBIS tab ???

It's because you maximize the form. If you keep normal form, you have the right value. Once again it's not an issue.

@Kurtnoise13: I can't understand you about the comboboxes style. I also think that they should be csDropDownList, except the SSRC Output Sampling Rate. And the currently selected AAC bitrate in WinAMP encoder engine you can show in the Bitrate Management groupbox caption. I've tried to compile BeLight, but had to spend some time finding the delphi components. TjvSpeedButton from JVCL is still there.

Correct, but it seems he doesn't want to understand
Nevertheless it's just a disfigurement. If this won't be fixed, we must except it as a quirk of BeLight ^^

It's because you maximize the form. If you keep normal form, you have the right value. Once again it's not an issue.
If maximizing the window makes the interface look incorrect, this should be fixed instead of a workaround like "don't maximize the window!".
What about a way to specify the output folder?

Hi Kurt,
I also join to LoRd_MuldeR in this issue (see my private mail 2 weeks ago).
Whatever, you are the coder, the work is yours.
Secondly you can find the updated Hungarian lang file:
http://sr1.mytempdir.com/174957
One comment: The text labels of new AAC engines are not added.
Consequently can not be translated.
BR, Immi
PS.: Would you be so kind to add a line for the translators in the ABOUT window. This will inspire the translators. ;)

guys, I think you misunderstood what I said (maybe my fault). I never said that comboboxes style must be unchanged. I said, I don't want to have a combobox value for the bitrate management concerning WinAmp encoder. The bitrate trackbar is very clear and very useful for newbies. We can add an edit component or something like that for sure. That's all. I hope it's more clear now ?
And the currently selected AAC bitrate in WinAMP encoder engine you can show in the Bitrate Management groupbox caption.
well..yes. After all. ;)
I've tried to compile BeLight, but had to spend some time finding the delphi components. TjvSpeedButton from JVCL is still there.
Indeed... :o I forgot a button. Check out the cvs in a couple of hours. I'll change that.

Good idea...For the moment, you can add what you want after my nickname in the lang file. (ex....Kurtnoise | Hungarian translator : Immi )
And once again for the developpers, there is a forum here (http://corecodec.org/forum/forum.php?forum_id=128) in CC.org. I prefer to discuss BeLight dev in CC.org because this thread is very huge I think. And It's more clearly for all...(you just need to register and open a new thread). Thanks...

I've never used BeSweet before, nor had I ever tried to transcode an AC3 (and maybe I shouldn't), but I have made numerous attempts to reduce the bitrate of a 5.1 AC3 file with BeLight, and each time I end up with a file that sounds like Alvin and the Chipmunks talking through a fan in a tunnel. Any suggestions?

hi kurt,
i have just started using belight, and let me say it rocks! i have a small questions for u, i would appreciate if u could help me:
i have a dvd movie that i have ripped on my hdd, it has 2 audio/ac3 tracks, 1st is 5.1 surround, and 2nd is dolby surround 2 channel. i do not have a surround sound setup, so i want to encode these tracks to stereo! which one should i use, the first 5.1 one, or the second 2-channel one! also, which aac encoding type should i use, faac,nd,3gp or winamp, and with what recommended bitrates, and for 2-channel ac3 to stereo conversion, should i use stereo mode option enabled or dpl2, should i use rear channel filtering, should i use dialog normalization reduction? pls help me!
Thanks!

The second (stereo stream).

Well...it's more difficult. I need to have more infos. What size/target bitrate would you like to have for your backup ?
and for 2-channel ac3 to stereo conversion, should i use stereo mode option enabled or dpl2
stereo
should i use rear channel filtering
no
should i use dialog normalization reduction?

For high quality (high bitrate) always is better LC-AAC (Nero), but is senseless transcode (always lose quality) a 192 kbps ac3 2-ch to 192 kbps mp3/vorbis/aac. Keep your original ac3 soundtrack.
If you have problem about the dialog volume ("with properly audible voice and other effects") use a player with AC3/ffdshow filter and use Dynamic Range Compression, Mixer, Channels Volume, ...(these last for ac3 5.1)
...one more thing, do i need to tick "Output Mode" in azid settings?
For a 2-ch conversion "Output Mode" is ignored (if is not set to "Mono" of course)

In the AAC Presets, try ND-->LC--> VBR -- Internet. If you are ok with this quality keep your file otherwhise increase your preset (vbr_streaming or higher).

Bug?
1) Add files.
2) Disable "LFE to LR Channels" in advanced settings.
3) Tick the View or Edit BeSweet Command Line ("-L -3db" shouldn't be there).
4) Move your mouse cursor into the file list box.
"-L -3db" will appear in the command line box. It doesn't go away until you go back into advanced settings and hit ok.
I'm encoding to ogg using version 0.2.2.0 beta8.

Thats due to having "LFE to LR Channels" ticked in advanced options should really deselect itsself when creating 5.1

Yep, I was using ac3 and outputting to stereo. But why is it like this? I'm wondering because this guide (http://www.doom9.org/belight-advancedsettings.htm) says to deactivate "LFE to LR Channels" for 2 channel input sources, and it gets bothersome when you're trying to batch encode.

Don't worry about this. With 2.0 channel input sources the "-L -3db" are ignored because don't exist LFE channel, the same for "Output Mode" <> "mono".

First of all, congratulations for the creation of belight, without it i wouldn;t be able to use the besweet.

I have an AC3 5.1ch (448 kbps, 23.976 fps) audio stream.
I want to do 2 things.
FIRST, I want to get an AC3 5.1ch (25.000 fps) audio stream
SECOND, I want also to have an AC3 2.1ch (25.000)
The problem is that belight let me do only one conversion ( ac3 to wav (16bit, stereo)), whenever i tried to get a ac3 , 5.1ch or 2.1ch, the belight crashed after the first pass reached 100%, a c++ window appears and says something about abnormal termination. Why is this happening??
I have the latest beta of besweet and belight beta8.
Please, someone respond.

FIRST, I want to get an AC3 5.1ch (25.000 fps) audio stream
Don't exist a ac3 with 23.976 fps or 25 fps, a 48 KHz ac3 have 31.25 fps, a 44.1 KHz ac3 have 28.73 fps.
If you have a movie with 23.976 fps video you need change only the video to 25 fps, the soundtrack don't need be changed, is the same for NTSC or PAL system.
For a .avi movie you can use VirtualDub -> Video menu -> Frame Rate -> Frame rate conversion -> Convert to fps: 25.
If you use VirtualDub -> Video menu -> Frame Rate -> Source rate adjustament -> Change to 25 fps, the video play more quickly and the duration don't match with audio.
Only with this second, not recommended, method you need stretch the audio
I think BeSweet-Soundtouch only work with stereo audio, then you need convert the 5.1 ac3 to 6 mono wav, stretch each mono wav with a audio editor, make a mux file and reencode to ac3.
Remember ac3enc have problems with low output volume.
SECOND, I want also to have an AC3 2.1ch (25.000)
Another BeSweet-ac3enc problem: only work for stereo or 5.1. To do a 2.1 ac3 you need a commercial encoder or Sonic Foundry Soft Encode.
And I don't understand why you need a 2.1 ac3, all audio equipments can redirect low frequencies to subwoofer, you can use a 2.0 without great difference.
Kurtnoise
6th October 2005, 08:15
It's 22 kHz. :)
In fact, it works *only* with 32000/16000/8000 Hz... So, it could be a plugin restriction.

I'm using the 0.22 beta 8 version and I have some complains:
The "qualidade" (quality) word of portuguese translation don't fit in it's space. This seen to be the only word in all languages that has this problem. You can fix it in someway? At least in MP3 tab for example, where space is not an issue, but it is cuted in some way.
In ogg, the nominal bitrate is not corrected when I change the Sampling rate.
In Mp3 tab, would be good if it show the exact bitrate of a certain point, in the same way as in winamp' AAC encoder "tab". And why I can't set 120kbps for example in Mp3's CBR mode? Is CBR mode more limited than ABR mode?
In Mp2 tab, in the right side of "encoding mode", the box seens to be a little cuted.
And some feature requests/sugestions:
When you click in the slide bar, outside the "pointer" (I don't know I call it), would be good if the pointer advances more, to the next defaut bitrate for example (96,112,128,160, and so on). This would economize a lot of time for me.
Make the queue space resizeable. That way I don't need to use the scroll bar when I'm in 800x600 resolution mode. Also, it can remember the last place and size it was when closed, because it is annoying have to drag it from the right boton of the screen every time I open it.
Make it able to receive correctly the "open with" calls. When I select an .wav file to be opened always by Belight when I double click it for example, I want to Belight open with this .wav file already in the queue, but it open w/o nothing.
Besides that, incredible app Kurtnoise!!! :thanks:

I see...yes for sure.
In ogg, the nominal bitrate is not corrected when I change the Sampling rate.
First, Ogg IS a container. Second, nominal bitrate is completely different of the Sampling-Rate. There is no interaction between these 2 settings.
In Mp3 tab, would be good if it show the exact bitrate of a certain point, in the same way as in winamp' AAC encoder "tab".
maybe yes, maybe no...:)

BeSweet restriction if I remember correctly...

Oops, I meant Vorbis. And at least in case of Vorbis quality setings, the sampling rate counts. At 48KHz the average bitrate of q-2 is 32kbps, at 8KHz the average bitrate is 10kbps, a big diference. See OggDropXpd for precise nominal bitrates for each sample rate.
For what kind of output format ?
I only see it in Mp2 and AC3 tabs. So, for all others, excluding WAV of course.
