View Full Version : BeLight 0.22 beta 8 released

7th November 2005, 21:27
Just to say I finally achieved to encod my wav file using BeLight, just by reinstalling the full package BeLight-0.22b8.exe from scratch.
There was probably some dll missing or mismatching during my first tests.
Sorry for that.
By the way, after my reinstall, I have no more display issue in the BeLight GUI (like reported by LoRd_MuldeR).
Thanks.
Marco

So, your display issue occurs only with daily builds.
On my side, no more GUI problem, even with daily build (11/07/2005), after fresh reinstall + patch with build 11/07/2005.
Works's fine.
Thank's for your great job Kurt.

Sorry Kurtnoise, but the problem (see screenshot) is still there even with the latest Build (BeLight-0.22beta_20051107.zip). I have deleted the INI file, but this didn't change anything...
@Marcovelo
How did you solve the GUI problem?

@odyn : thank you...
@7ven : try to update your version with the last daily build.
@Lord_Mulder : could you test Version1 (http://kurtnoise.free.fr/BeLight/version1.zip) and Version2 (http://kurtnoise.free.fr/BeLight/version2.zip) and tell me if it's ok with the 1st or the 2nd...

The latest daily build still has the issue wher Dynamic Compression is turned on when the mouse cursor hovers over the white queue box. Same issue as 7ven mentions above.
Edit- Also, the Belight process doesnt set its self to "idle" mode but the Besweet process does.
Kurtnoise
9th November 2005, 14:07
ok, so I'll try to fix this issue asap.
but,
Also, the Belight process doesnt set its self to "idle" mode but the Besweet process does.
how do you know that ? coz by default BeLight transcoding process uses "Normal" mode.
MacAddict
9th November 2005, 14:20
Options->Priority->Idle is set currently. Using the task manager I can see that Belight is in "Normal" mode and Besweet is actually in "Idle". Should Belight also be running at "Idle" priority?
Kurtnoise
9th November 2005, 15:46
No, coz you transcode your file with BeSweet not BeLight...;) So, priorities tasks are applied to BeSweet.
MacAddict
9th November 2005, 15:49
Hmmm...but Belight is also consuming CPU cycles if you watch the task manager. Is it just for the gain cycle maybe?

Cosmetic bug:
In the WAV/PCM tab when click on DD-WAV (output format) then 'Output channels' doesn't disappear. These output channel only affect to WAV or AIFF not DD-WAV.
In fact if you select DD-WAV as output format nothing happens to 'output channels' but if you change the tab (i.e MP3, VORBIS,...) and come back to WAC/PCM then 'output channels' options disappear.

Come on...go back to the earth. This is not a bug. You have probably an US Windows. That's can explain why. Coz I don't have this trick here with a french Windows. Btw I can modify this.
@dimzon: sorry. :( I check again and again and I don't know why for the moment.
@opsis : Thank you very much. I'll add it. :)
@schrady : what do you mean ? A batch mode or a Job List ? coz the batch mode should be ok now and I'm working on the Job List.

I want to be able to designate a group of files to process the same way. Dont I do that by creating a LST file, then loading and processing the lst file?
Doent the lst file tell it what files to process?
When I try and open the lst file I create, it says "not supported" Try v.21

Also, this is not a big deal, but I have no time designation what so ever when it is transcoding. Not progress bar, no time. Nothing across the bottom.
When its done it just says finished.
I am running US WIN XP Pro SP2 with newest belight .22 for P4.

well...I don't know but I use this function to detect the font size :
function GetSystemFontSize: Integer;
var dc: HDC;
begin
dc:= GetDC(0);
result:= GetDeviceCaps(dc, LOGPIXELSX);
ReleaseDC(0, dc);
end;
and with the Form.Create :
if GetSystemFontSize > 96 then PixelsPerInch := GetSystemFontsize;
So, I don't think this is the problem. Or Am I wrong ?

I was looking for a program that uses Lame to recompress my MP3 to lower bitrate for my portable MP3 player. Guide on doom9.org suggested BeSweet and so I found BeLight. I draged one MP3 file to test it if would work.
I chose MP3 as output and constant 64k bitrate. When I press the start button it does nothing. I waited and then stoped. My RAM usage was 700MB and when I checked my MP3 file it was 0 bytes.
So... What I figured is that it wants to use the same filename and sufix and so at the very beginning it overwrites the files and then does a loop wich fills up the memory.
Can you fix this in BeLight? You can detect if the input and output files would be the same and then let's say add "_new" string to the filename.
Or am I doing something wrong?
