I hope to release something today.

why using installer when a single .7z is more than optimum ?

When you are xperianced Doom9 user, following all the BeLight updates, etc. than 7z is optimum.
When you are just a poor guy, lost in time and space, searching the web
for some audio converter, tha installer is something
that you'll appreciate ;)

i 2nd the installer idea
sillKotscha
23rd May 2006, 08:57
ehrm, what about that one...
BeLight-0.22b9_Lancer.exe (http://corecodec.org/frs/?group_id=45&release_id=245#r245)
isn't it already a professional installer? So why you are all against such an idea?

Yeah. This is exactly what I mean,
but more up to date.

1) There are three installer now, enough for unexperienced users:
BeLight-0.22b9_Lancer.exe
BeLight-0.22b9_Normal.exe
BeLight-0.22b9_P4.exe
I hope Kurtnoise continue in this installer style (without install DSF, modify the registry,...) when he want release a new beta10.
2) Some encoders (CT/Nero aac) can't be distributed in BeLight package, and always is needed the user interaction.
3) I appreciate your work with AudX but, for instance, I don't want install automatically your DSF in my system, because I have only stereo audio attached to pc, and is absolutely useless for me. I hate "professionall installer" if install DSF unwanted, modify the registry, ... Maybe a troubles source for unexperienced users.

Ad 1) Yeah. This is exactly what I meant by my question:
To be more precise, I wondered when the new installer (with all the changes from recent moths) will be included, as it was done in the past.
Ad 2) Sure, but still other components inside the installer make life easier (IMHO)
Ad 3) You misunderstood me. My intention was not to suggest that Aud-X should be a part of BeLight installer. Actually our installer comes with some other things (like our own conversion frontend, ACM codec, DSdecoder, etc) so it would make completely no sens to add it to the BeLight installer.
Cheers, 3d.

@3dsnar : I'll create a new installer when the last bugs will be gone. I hope as soon as possible.
All in all, existing installers (Lancer & all) are and will be always on CC.org (yeah, I need to update them...) and won't include Aud-X codec. For people who want to have the BeLight installer including the Aud-X, it will be on Aud-X website. I hope it's fine for all.

Maybe we can ask Nero to get permission for encoder redistribution (in case when original licence.txt from Nero will be included)

Allright...
My first attempt to support ND CLI encoder is available (http://corecodec.org/frs/?group_id=45&release_id=288#r288) now.
You need to update bsn.dll (http://kurtnoise.free.fr/BeLight/bsn_20060523.zip) to be able to encode with this encoder through BeLight.
There are probably some bugs or some missings from my part, so feel free to test it. ;)
The last Nero Digital AAC encoder is of course available here (http://www.nero.com/nerodigital/eng/Nero_Digital_Audio.html).

Well, Kurtnoise13, your first try fail, because newest daily build show this massage:
neroaacenc is missing
It's strange, because I put that file in Belight folder.

Well, Kurtnoise13, your first try fail, because newest daily build show this massage:
"neroaacenc is missing"
It's strange, because I put that file in Belight folder.I was able to get it to run.... but only after selecting/checking "View or Edit BeSweet Command Line" and selecting "Run" ;)
EDIT: Nero have 2No AAC encoders, neroAacEnc.exe @ 804KB and neroAacEnc_sse2.exe @ 856KB..... Depending on your system, this might make some difference!

@wdmalik : what did you add/modify exactly in your cmdl ?
instead of -lame( --abr 128 ) i used -lame( -v --vbr-new -V 5 )

Why not using directly interface for this command ? Choose the Quality target and Fast Mode to enable this.
@Kostarum : I see. I've made some tunings this afternoon. I'll upload a new build asap. Thanks for the tests. Keep in mind also that neroAacEnc must be in the same BeSweet folder...

For me the latest daily doesnt work either. Log window shows all DLL files available and everything detected. I hit the 'start' button and nothing happens. Also tried as SeeMore Digital and used the 'run' command, still nothing happens. I have no errors or anything.

Otherwise, delete BeLight.ini file and try again.

Yes, all Nero executables are inside the BeLight folder with BeSweet, etc. I deleted the .ini file and still BeLight doesn't respond when I hit the start button, no errors reported at all in log. Strange. Encoding to Vorbis works fine of course.

Hello kurtnoise...
I'm sure you are aware of the helix project and I was just wondering weather or not you are going to support helix's aac project...
Kurtnoise
31st May 2006, 12:22
Well, AAC from Helix is very limited (only 5 target bitrates, no multichannel support....). Why not using Nero Digital or Coding Technologies AAC engines instead ?

Personally I don't care... I am using CT's aac encoding option as well. I just wanted to hear the differnces between Ct's and Helix's encoding. Everybody just says that the best encoding is tyhe one done by Helix's project. Thanx a lot for answering my question...
And thanx for both applications...

Everybody just says that the best encoding is tyhe one done by Helix's project. Nope... I can't remember ever saying or reading that either!
I will however go on record by saying.... I think CT's encoder generates better sounding 6Ch AAC-HE encodes at 128Kbps than Nero's new "freeware" encoder ;)

I found out that since WinAmp v5.22 (latest version) "nscrt.dll" replaces "MFC71.DLL" and some other things. I added it in BeSweet directory but nothing changed (adding it to MeGUI made it work work for CT AAC). Maybe the problem is this new dll. I hope you'll figure it out. Good luck!

no worries. alls fine with the new version. unfortunately i cant provide details, but the error mentioned above (Error 84: error configuring bsn!) happened to me before but somehow resolved itself when i left it alone for a while
the new ones works fine so i removed the old copies. if anything happens with this one, i'll post and provide some info :)

Just found all this - bit overwhelming:
Any good suggestions to "test" for AAC-HE or AAC-HE-PS (what is PS btw) when transcoding AC3 384kbit to mux back into my HDTV MP4?
Kurtnoise
15th June 2006, 20:27
PS stands for Parametric Stereo. One of a technic to improve efficiency at very low bitrates. This concerns mainly AAC encoder engines.
For suggestions, there are some presets available (Options --> Presets). First, I'd say to check out HE-AAC around 48-64 kbps. Both Nero Digital and CT's Winamp encoder supply this target. If this sounds good for you, well you can keep it. Otherwise, if you want to maximize your video backup and minimize the audio part, I'd say to test AAC-PS (32 kbps and lower)...

I have one question regarding BeLight. Why was the AVI support (wnich was in 0.21) removed? It worked fine for me.
I see it is still missing in the latest builds. Do you plan to put it back? Thanks.

yep. no diff. i think its something to do with using it too many times or something.
when i first installed it, it was all fine so i copied the folder. it continued to work and when it stopped, i tried using the copy and that works now. the original folder does not.
almost like a trial version. use too many times and it stops.

Unfortunately, there is no avs wrapper or something else for BeSweet. In addition, BeSweet is closed sources, so we can't do what we want/dream regarding input features...
