Hi everyone,

just downloaded Version 2.37.4 and ran into an error when trying to use SMDegrain: an error "Cannot load file C:/Users/xxx/Desktop/Staxrip-v2.37.4.0-x64/Apps/Plugins/AVS/AVS_LibPlacebo/AVS_libplacebo.dll. Platform returned code 126: Das angegebene Modul wurde nicht gefunden."
Last part in German means: the given module was not found. AVS_libplacebo.dll is there in the path where the error message claims that it can not load the file. I am using Windows Server 2019 64 Bit.
Can anyone help me out?

Thanks a ton!
Nathan

It's likely you're missing VisualC++ redistributables (https://github.com/Asd-g/avslibplacebo?tab=readme-ov-file#requirements).

I am sorry if this has been asked before but I can't seem to find an answer. How the heck do I stop staxrip from creating a temp folder of the source file in the temp folder. I am having serious issues with files that are longer, and the absurdity that I can't just have the files themselves dumped into a folder without having to create a named folder for the source is baffling to me. So for example, if I am encoding "my favourite movie that is really awesome" the resulting paths in the temp folder would be C:\temp\my favourite movie that is really awesome_temp\my favourite movie that is really awesome.<ext> for various files. I read on the git that there is supposed to be an option for 8.3 naming in temp files, but I can't for the life of me find it anywhere in the options. Yes this is a dumb windows issue in regards to path names, and it seems anything over 70 characters errors out, even with 260 character support. Am I just completely blind?? Is windows just that horrible in regards to support?

Each time it errors out it gives me a log that is perfect but then states that Quicksync is not supported. It's on an i5-1235u so yes quicksync is supported.

Windows 11 Pro, latest build of staxrip 2.37.5

I'm sorry. Just really frustrated with encodes failing when they should not be.

Any suggestions for best NVENC AV1 parameters for encoding 1080p good quality source via StaxRip? Any help will be appreciated. Sorry for inconvenience.

Given people are learning AV1 is software, I would stick with H265 where settings are pretty well known.

I assume you have a powerful system as need a 4000 series RTX.
If so consider H265 software encoding for 1080p as with a powerful CPU, won't be too slow.
I use NVENC H265. as encode quite a lot , so quicker, use a good amount of bit rate , for older movies use KNLmeansCL Light, as I feel tradeoff to picture so slight for gains.
I get pretty good SSim PSNR scores , except for 1 in 20 old movies where must add something to throw those checks . But when I check, it looks fine enough for me. Have heard some movies throw in hard to encode random noise, not sure it true

I'm on Win 11 and recently had to uninstall iTunes and use the Windows App version instead. The problem is that I don't have CoreAudioToolbox.dll anymore. It is in C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\AppleInc..... which is inaccessible.

Now what should I do for good AAC encoding? Can I separately get it somewhere or use something else to encode audio?

I know they are trying to implement more & more options, but.....

Yes it's not the right way to do stuff even if it's free.

StaxRip v2.38.6

Also replacing v2.38.0's StaxRip.exe only lets StaxRip ask you for the Settings folder like on a clean start. This is okay when updating from v2.38.0 and won't happen anymore. Just select the folder you already use and you're fine. Sorry for not mentioning that before.

When I open the app, and I see there is a new release, I check the patch notes and if there is nothing of interest for me, I just dismiss that version.

Hi Anyone using the latest Nvidia driver and NVEnc will need to download rigaya's latest version and copy it in, as encodes at a wrong bitrate, will naturally be fixed if you download a later version of staxrip with Nvenc colder updated

And regarding IntelQSV:
QSVEncC64.exe 7.62 brings the incompatibility.
QSVEncC64.exe 7.61 works in SR2.39.3

P.S. SR 2.40: the same problem with QSVEncC64.exe encoding .h265:
bitstream: Failed to get frame ID for pts -1
QSVEncC64.exe 7.65 can encode .h264, .MPEG-2, .vp9
(.av1 I can not test, not supported on my platform.)

P.P.S. I have just reported that to rigaya.
https://github.com/rigaya/QSVEnc/issues/202

Got rigaya's answer: add
--function-mode PG
to commandline and it works again.
BTW, huge options list in QSVEncC...

I used StaxRip for the first time in quite a while, today...

I have "chunk" & parallel encoding enabled, but when it was complete, I had 4 chunks (4 x .mkv files), why weren't they muxed into a single file ???

What have I missed, or has something changed ??

This is NOT exclusive to Staxrip either, this WILL affect ANY x265 encoding app sooner rather than later :(

I first noticed it in RipBot264 a week or so ago, with the first of these "new gen" x265 builds....

Surely it will already be fixed in version 2.42

I read somewhere, might have been Github, that Dendraspis posted a comment that the x265 issue has already been fixed for the upcoming 2.42 build.

Try downloading it again...

And/or use 7z to unpack it.
