So I use a pre-set for re-encoding x265 with NVEnc which I've used for a long time now. Seems decent(ish) quality and very fast.
Since v2.30 my Target box is missing options to Adjust Size in MB or Video Bitrate so having to stay on 2.29 for now.
Unless there's something i'm missing?

Can you add InpaintDelogo plugin:

You would just feed a script calling Inpaint DeLogo.

I tried but StaxRip has it's own plugins folder different from the system Avisynth one.
InpaintDelogo line which works when using system Avisynth didn't work in StaxRip.
I would need to put all InpaintDelogo plugins into StaxRip plugins folder but I've only recently started using it so I'm not sure how to do it.

Hi good day.
I'm running the latest version of Staxrip (v2.31.0) using SVT-AV1.
It appear the encoding would fail if I use any other preset other than the default (10). Please help.
Thank you in advance.:thanks:

Hello, I have a problem with staxrip and some denoise filters, every time I try to load smdegrain or mdegrain I get the following error
Script Error
Cannot load file 'C:/Apps/StaxRip-v2.30.0-x64/Apps/Plugins/AVS/AviSynthShader/Shader-x64.dll'. Platform returned code 126:
The specified module could not be found.
The file Shader-x64.dll exist and it's exactly in the path mentioned in the error.
I tried with staxrip 2.28 that worked perfectly in the past with these filters but now I get the same error, also tried with the latest version v2.32 but it happens the same also.
Any idea of what could be happening? I'm using staxrip in Windows 10 64bits.

I know this is a late reply to the post. It is possible the build of the plugin is not compatible with your CPU. What you can try is renaming the failed plugin to something to save it. Then copy the plugin from the working version and put that in the folder where the newer plugin is failing. You can also check details on the file to see if there is a version difference. My best guess is that something in the compilation is not compatible with your hardware.
An alternate possibility is that some other plugin that shader-x64 requires is missing. You should do some research on the plugin and see if it requires something extra to be functional. It may be that in the previous build that helper dll was included, but was omitted from the build you are using.

@Khun_Doug Thanks for reply but it has nothing to do with my hardware (Ryzen 7, 32GB, 3060ti with the latest drivers), I've installed all Visual C++ libraries from 2010 to 2022 and latest DirectX and JRE. It's a staxrip problem.
I tried returning to v2.12 and it works perfect, all versions that came after freezes or crash with SMDegrain, MDegrain, CASm LSFMod and probably more filters, at least in my system.
The problem it's related to missing dependencies, it was introduced in v2.13 and apparently not completely fixed in v2.14 (although in the changelog of 2.14 say "Fix AVS SMDegrain not working properly due to missing dependencies (#931)").
A fix for this would be nice though, I'm using Staxrip on Windows 10 64bits.

@Bluedraft
You are not the only person who as seen this happen, I tried it myself a couple of years ago and using any of those filters either froze or crashed staxrip but not all the time which I found strange.
Though I have just tried SMDegrain on the latest version of Staxrip and on the same system Ryzen 7 1st gen 1700 and it froze for about 10 seconds but eventually loaded, but on trying to add the job it froze again for another couple of seconds but did eventually start. I won't be using it because it seems to be a very slow process and I don't really need it when all I do is convert old VHS rips.

Man don't install it. So many new bugs with 2.35. It seems they completely broke the parsing file name system.
I'm opening an SDR file and it wants to extract it as Dolby Vision just because I have DELAY in an audio file name!
I'm so frustrated. More and more they break basic necessary stuff that worked correctly before. I will no longer install a new version.
What was the last stable version? I don't remember any more.
I have to say that I have a complete clean install.

Good morning.
In my configuration with version 2.35 it happened to me 2 times with the x265 encoding during processing crashes.
Also since I set the pc has work at night, I always select the hibernate command for the end of the processes, well even in this case I end up the next morning with a warning message that the processing is terminated at 98.5% and that some frames have not been processed.
Which in the previous version never happened to me, the operating system and the various software did not change.
Today I downgraded to version 2.34 and so far everything is running smoothly
I can't give an explanation and I have no idea why this is happening, this is the first time it has happened with the latest release.
Khun_Doug
10th February 2024, 16:56
There are a few possibilities for the error. The first thing I would try is copying the x265.exe from the working version and putting that in place of the version that faults. That would show if x265.exe is the culprit. It's possible there are changes in the newer x265.exe that are tripping up your hardware.
Another thing to check only applies to systems that have been overclocked. It's common that an overclock has not been thoroughly tested. Since x265 can stress the CPU, a faulty overclock can easily break x265. If you are overclocking the CPU / motherboard, I would highly recommend stress testing for stability with tools such as Primes95 and Cinebench. If those crash / fail, the overclock is not stable.
DMD

My system is not in overckloc is by default withhardware as in signature.
I did other testing by setting in StaxRip the selection to avx512 and replaced the default installed .exe encoder (avx2) with "3.5+153+15-813ccbff0-.Mod-by-Patman.-x64-avx512-msvc1937" and set the hibernate command as I often do overnight .
I verified for the same file it was faster, about 2% and completed without any problem.
At this point I don't know whether to deselect avx512 and leave Patman's avx2 encoder.
I will do more processing to test stability, and if I still get error messages, however I use a CPU cooler with ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 280 A-RGB.
By all means, I reserve the right to perform more tests with default encoder (avx2) by unchecking the avx512 option.

After several tests and a few days of losing my mind to figure out where the cause was, I discovered via stress test with AIDA64 it was not completing the test on both cache and RAM.
Having 4 memory sticks set to the maximum frequency @6000 MHz despite the EXPO certification (for Ryzen cpu).
By decreasing the frequency @5600MHz the test was passed and the x265 ecoding was completed without problems.
Fortunately so far the system is stable.
I did not think this problem could be caused by RAM instability.
Doing further research I learned that EXPO certification at maximum frequency refers to 2 sticks, using 4 sticks the maximum working frequency must be reduced to ensure system stability.

I don't use Staxrip, and I also don't know what version of LibPlacebo is being used, but at least you'll be to date.
There's also been a very recent update of SMDegrain, too.

Hi,
just realized, that the autocrop is by default only be done on Dolbyvision Content:
This seems to be default since 2.35(?)
("Auto Crop after opening: Dolby Vision Only")
My Question:
What is the reason? In my opinion it makes no sense only to crop Dolbyvision Content
And why is it set to default?
Mistake?

"This one is an important update for everyone, who also uses sources with Dolby Vision metadata and wants to transfer them to the encode/target properly while cropping the image. As it turned out, a lot of guides and information are wrong, misleading or at least incomplete from a general point of view. It took me hours to get and verify all the information about that topic and develop a way to ensure all different types of sources are treated the right way, so the encode will be as accurate as possible.
Basically almost everything should be straight forward and handled by StaxRip, definitely a lot easier, faster and less error prone than before. Please make sure to run a new instance with new settings and jobs to avoid side effects like lost or changed settings and handling.

A HUGE first post, without really stating anything.
So I wouldn't be too surprised if it might be this:-

Thanks a lot for your reply. Staxrip already includes the very recent version of avslibplacebo.
Found out two interesting things:
1. Staxrip 2.24 does not need avslibplacebo for SMDegrain
2. Staxrip 2.37.4 using SMDegrain works without an issue on my other machine (Windows 10, different kind of CPU)
So this might be simply a platform thing. So I found a solution, at least for the moment.
