Hi, I'm using Staxrip 2.6 to get ride off some noise in a video. I'm using temporal degrain 2 for that purpose but I notice that works incredible slow (0.6 fps) because it's using only un cpu core and apparently none of the cudas of my gpu. I'm wondering if I could take some advantage of the hardware with this filter or any other in Staxrip that works the same in order to speed up the process.

System
Ryzen 7 5700x (8core 16 threads)
Nvidia RTX 3060 ti
32 GB ram
Windows 10 64bit

Thanks in advance for any help.

If that wasn't a typo, that build is over 2 years old :(

You might want to see what SMDegrain filters do for you, I'm sure there are a few more options in the newer builds.

Good luck.

Hello, i switched from bdrebuilder to staxrip because bdrebuilder doesn't support VCEEncC h265 (AMD) and QSVEncC h265 (Intel).

I don't have much experience in encoding.

However, I have a problem with VCEEncC h265 where my HDR information is lost. MediaInfo shows:

Source:
Video
ID : 1
Format : HEVC
Format/Info : High Efficiency Video Coding
Format profile : Main 10@L5.1@High
HDR format : SMPTE ST 2086, HDR10 compatible
Codec ID : V_MPEGH/ISO/HEVC

After encode with StaxRip VCEEncC h265:
Video
ID : 1
Format : HEVC
Format/Info : High Efficiency Video Coding
Format profile : Main@L5@High
Codec ID : V_MPEGH/ISO/HEVC

Why the HDR information are missing? And why it change the format profile? Can anyone help me? What i have to change in the settings?

If I encode with QSVEnc h265 (Intel), then the information remains the same as in the source. however, it takes longer, so I would like to encode via AMD.

Thank you

Regards from germany

By the way be careful, I don't know if it's related but few hours later I had major problems with my PC where I couldn't do anything. I had to shutdown and do an integrity check and I got this.

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them.
For online repairs, details are included in the CBS log file located at
windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For offline
repairs, details are included in the log file provided by the /OFFLOGFILE flag.

Is it possible for StaxRip to show more information (esp. bitrate) during an SVT-AV1 encoding job? It shows progress, and every so often the "average system encoding speed" is reported. For example, I have no idea when using CRF mode if the bitrate is in the desired range while encoding. I've tried "--progress 2" but it reports so often it can hang or crash StaxRip.

Edit: Opened issue (https://github.com/staxrip/staxrip/issues/1045)at GitHub, response was incredible. Dendraspis and Patman86 to the rescue! Many fixes for AV1 (SVT-AV1, AOM) in StaxRip 2.24. Thank you guys so much.

2.17, 2.18, 2.19, 2.20, 2.22 on Win10P64:
Drag-and drop of a .avs onto Source drop region, or loading an .avs script via file manager collapses StaxRip.
2.16 works fine.
.net incompatibilties ?
4.8.04084 was installed, as part of OS.

On a different system Win7U64SP1:
2.19, 2.22 throw CLR20r3 Error.
2.16 works fine.
.net incompatibilties ?
4.8.03715 was installed, manually.

Can anybody repeat that (I would make a report at github then), or is it just me ?

P.S. From 2.23 on this seems to be solved.

May I request a feature?
I'm heavily using StaxRip's Video Comparison tool.

Big disappointment today when the UI looked like I could load an .avs script in there for comparison - but it didn't work out.
https://i.imgur.com/EWO3mwk.png
Would be so helpful when comparing sources with different framerate / frame count / frame interpolation or where one video has a slight offset.

It looks like StaxRip is under the hood generating an .avs file in "C:\Users\[User]\AppData\Local\Temp" as soon as a video is loaded - but manipulating this .avs is useless as StaxRip doesn't seem to reload it ever.

This error was randomly occurring in older build so updated to 2.25.0 and still occurs.

Have an Arc A380 which appears to sometimes not be "found" then it goes to the UHD 770 albeit at a very low fps.

https://imgur.com/9tqUlEd

When the A380 is engaged it says something about PG mode not supported on platform and switching to FF - I have no idea what this means.

Hi i am compresing 4k remux with staxrip using nvenc h265. Quality is great for my standards and ripping is blazing fast vs standard x265 cpu encode.
Now i have one problem and i am wondering is this staxrip issue or h265? i am using CQP constant QP and when my remux have dolby vision and i want to rip it with staxrip it says for dolby vision use variable bitrate.

At the moment, I use every staxrip verion in a separate folder with settings folder in app folder.
Can I copy the settings folder with my templates from 2.25.0 into 2.26.0 ?
Thanks fpr help.

...or, what ist the best way for update, when I use staxrip and settings in the same folder?

Just upgraded from StaxRip 2.25.0 to StaxRip 2.28.0, and what I'm seeing is that the 64-bit version of libFLAC.DLL was placed in the .\StaxRip\Apps\Audio\eac3to\ folder, but eac3to.exe is and has been a 32-bit executable.

The symptom I had was that "Blu-ray Folder" always came up with an empty playlist in StaxRip 2.28.0, because eac3to.exe failed to load its dependencies and never actually executed.

In x265 there is --aq-mode 2 by default. I don't think this was the case before. What does it do?

I did a little research, in the past staxrip didn't put --aq-mode 2 in the command line but the result was the same as mode 2 while x265 docs say mode 1 is the default!

?
mode 2 has been the default aq mode in x265.exe for a while now.

I just noticed that in the latest version, the log file has changed. In the log file, the mediainfo of the source is not added anymore. Only the target is added.
This is essential, to have the mediainfo of both the source and target.

Feed the following avisynth script matched to your requirements (don't know if .avs import works again)
source=last
faultframeno=<your faulty frameno here>
repair=source.<your repairalgo here>
Trim(source,0,faultframeno-1)++Trim(repair,faultframeno,faultframeno)++Trim(source,faultframeno+1,0)

Atlantis
10th September 2023, 17:56
Which means you have to re-encode the whole video. It is not just replacing a frame.

Haven't asked for a while, Can stax do auto HDR to SDR tone mapping automatically without user interaction yet.

I mean Stax will detect and use best settings based on Source?

if so, what would the sequence be inside the stax gui (where would it sit, at the end, middle, just after the source)

Thanks
