Hi Stax, I want to know if its possible to display/show what current video pass is encoding next to the ETA/fps. If that's not possible its not a big deal since I can check the current encoding commands that shows what pass is encoding, just that it takes some time to find it.

:thanks:

Hi luigizaninoni

That's what I did m8 and then it threw that error at me.

I've gone back to StaxRip_1.2_Technical_Preview because when I updated to the lastest stable version I had problem after problem.

Hi luigizaninoni

I've gone back to StaxRip_1.2_Technical_Preview because when I updated to the lastest stable version I had problem after problem.

Well, in your picture it says "the first and second audio files or streams are identical". It doesn't show that you selected "no audio"

Anyway, it works fine on all my pcs, no reason it shoudn't work on yours, so please recheck if you set "no audio" to your second audio stream

lordalibaski

Yes it does m8 but when I changed it to no audio for the bottom one that's when it threw the error up.

This option usually works fine on my PC too but this option on this DVD didn't work.

Like I said I got it working straight away in the older version.

Something isn't right out of 100's of DVD's I have converted I haven't had these problems at all. Got another DVD here which I converted yesterday I used these settings below

http://www.ultraimg.com/images/185574.png

but the final output put the audio bitrate @ 448

1. Make sure to use the latest test build
2. Make sure you are using the 64bit svp flow
3. Set source to automatic
4. For i7 5820 use threads = 11
5. My script is for 24fps to 30fps. You need to change num & den for another fps

I still use StaxRip 1.1.9.0 a lot on my old XP desktop computer. Now I installed the stable version 1.3.4.0 on a much newer notebook (Core i5, Win7 64), and I do have a couple of comments: ;)

First of all I was pleasantly surprised that AviSynth+ and all the other 64bit stuff does not interfere with my 32bit AviSynth. And the interface is very familiar, no steep learning curve from the old version.

But I also ran into some problems. I have only loosely followed this thread, so forgive me if there are already solutions to my issues.

yadimod2 crashes on my machine each and every time. The error message is "System exception - Illegal instruction" for the line in the script where "yadifmod2()" is called.

I do have all the VC distributables correctly installed, Net.Framework 4.61 is installed. Any ideas?

My next complaint is about how StaxRip handles interlaced sources (this was already the case in the old 32bit version, my feature requests were not answered).

When the source is interlaced, you can either deinterlace it or encode it in interlaced mode. For X.264 you need to add --tff or --bff to the command line. Why does StaxRip not do this automatically if the user did not activate a deinterlacer? Of course StaxRip knows if a source is interlaced, and it also knows the field order (it shows it under the source window).

And if deinterlacing is selected, most deinterlacers need the correct field order (not sure about QTGMC, Field Deinterlace does not need it, but TDeint and YadifMod2 sure do need it). If not explicitly specified they will take the field order from AviSynth, and this is totally unreliable. The regular AviSynth defaults to BFF, no idea about AviSynth+. But it is always the safe way to put an AssumeTFF() or AssumeBFF() before the deinterlacer. StaxRip should do this automatically.

So far I have always edited my filter profile to include the field order command before the deinterlacer. I tried the same with the new version, but I found that the %newline% macro is no longer there. As a workaround I used the . (dot) character between the two commands. Is this the recommended method now?

But what really makes the new version unusable for me is that I cannot use 32bit VirtualDub plugins any more. I frequently need VD plugins for logo removal, and not having these plugins any more is a real show stopper for me. So I guess I will revert to StaxRip 1.9.1.0 on the notebook, too. It does have some rough edges, but I got used to them over the years, and it sure still gets the job done...

Cheers
manolito

On a particular drive where I was doing a large batch of encodes the drive ran out of space. Staxrip showed the error relating to not enough disk space, but there isn't an option to cancel. If you click off the message it just goes on to the next encode. There should be an option to stop the batch process when this happens.

I couldn't find such a message in the code so it was probably a system message. I've added now a check before each job runs, if the disk space is less then 3 times the source size, the message is shown and job processing is exited.

I made a fresh install of staxrip 1.3.5.3 and now everything works. I do not know why, perhaps some setting carried over from previous install was interfering

Edit: I copied a template of the old install to the new install, and the issue is here again. So it must be something in the old template. I'll try to create a template from scratch, and see what happens

Edit2: I think I have found the issue. If in Options - Audio - Preferred languages I leave the default (eng, ita, und) everything works fine. If I make only ita the default, it muxes the uncut audio file

- Is it possible to define the compression quality for the thumbnails capture and also for the jpg capture we can do in preview mode, the current compression rate seems to be 75%, is it somehow possible to get no compression at all on those jpeg's or simply allow us to choose it ?

- In the drop down section menu for the Event commands editor some lines are really hard to see due to the narrowed size of the drop down menu like seen here :

https://s14.postimg.org/n7uvfvli9/80876420160602172036.png
Will it be possible to extend a bit the width of this drop down menu to see the list of commands more clearly please ? Maybe by reducing a bit the width of the second parameter " is/ contain " ) .

- Will it be possible to add an option in the Event Command Editor for the muxer/container type like :

Muxer profile/container is/is not/contain MP4 or MKV or any custom created one present in the created muxers profiles please ?

And last thing a bit more specific and complex :

I would like to add a cover on some MP4's using MP4box "-itags cover=" command for this, would result in something like this :

%app:MP4Box% -itags "cover=F:\SomePicture.jpeg" -nodrop -add "%encoder_out_file%#video" -add "%audio_file1%" -new "%target_file%"

And would like to get this a bit automated while using a different picture for each videos and the picture name and path being a variable able to be sent to the muxing profile.

Let's say i create a special mp4 muxer profile :

%app:MP4Box% -itags "cover=%JPG_Picture%" -nodrop -add "%encoder_out_file%#video" -add "%audio_file1%" -new "%target_file%"

My problem is how to pass a picture path that will change for each video into a variable to the program .

During the initial process i will just have to open the video preview, capture a JPG or Bitmap and somehow send the complete path of the captured picture to the custom muxing profile.

If there was a macro for the last captured picture in preview mode with full path, like %Last_Bitmap_Path% or %Last_Jpg_Path% it will make things very easy but i'm not sure if this is possible.

I tried various things essentially using batch but no success yet into opening a batch and pasting manually the picture path to it and then include it later into a custom muxer profile as variable.

Things like :
@echo off
set /p JPG_Picture=Set MP4 Thumbnail Path :

Does not seems to give any result for now.

Saw also the custom message box we can set but not sure if we can get the path for the picture asked there then pasted as variable into a muxer custom profile, did not found many infos on this custom message box possibilities for now.

Still discovering and testing stuff and for now beside leaving muxing off and using a separate batch file at the end of the encoding asking me first for picture path and doing the muxing i have not really any success, and i don't like much this solution, i'b better like to have all this prepared and automated from the start instead of having to include the picture for cover and do the muxing manually at the end.

Maybe i am for now missing some obvious and easier ways to do this ?

Thanks in advance and thanks a lot for this great tool.

Edit2: I think I have found the issue. If in Options - Audio - Preferred languages I leave the default (eng, ita, und) everything works fine. If I make only ita the default, it muxes the uncut audio file

I cannot reproduce it, please send me the old template.

I'll investigate it.

This can be done with: 'Target Filename' Contains .mp4

The cover issue is indeed complex, a macro like %Last_Bitmap_Path% would be possible but I'm not sure if it's a good solution, other options would be adding direct/real support for the scenario or extend StaxRip's scripting API so it can be scripted with C# or Powershell. I'll think about it, in summertime I focus on fixing bugs, update apps and improvements that are very simple so I cannot promise much for the next months.

Hello and thanks a lot for the quick replies,

This can be done with: 'Target Filename' Contains .mp4

In my screenshot in the previous post I used "Target File Path contain .mp4" and indeed it works, but my goal was to create a specific .mp4 muxing profile where i could add the cover path or even some other itags that for now i will have to edit manually for each video when this specific muxing profile is selected.

I will have the normal mp4 muxer and one "mp4 itags" profile and only when this particular one is selected it will open me the muxer profiles window where i will be able to quickly edit and add some itags infos like the cover path and some other infos.

Having a specific Event Command linked directly to the muxers profiles names will help in achieving this, ( ie : If Muxing Profile Name is/contains "mp4 itags" ) same if i want to create multiples mkv muxing profiles for different uses and do different things when a specific profile name is selected, but i understand it's a very limited use and probably not worth the effort to introduce such thing.

For the cover using directly the last captured image in the preview mode it will be really great to let us illustrate the Mp4's cover with something easy to catch for the eyes and fitting with the video content.
Maybe adding a simple way to add a custom path and transpose it as a variable will do too, and maybe more easy to implement and allowing the use of any picture for cover for example, not only those coming from the preview capture.

A simple way to set a custom path and paste it into the program as %Custom_Path% or something like this, not sure how this can be achieved, i know only a bit of batch coding but if such variable was possible it might allow to set a little batch opening under certain conditions and set a value for %Custom_Path% that will be sent into the program.

Thanks again for all the hard work you put into this, I'm not in a hurry so take your time and profit of the incoming summer, will continue to explore the possibilities of the program, like i said I'm really impressed by all work done and the evolution of your tool since the last time i used it years ago.
