View Full Version : tsMuxeR update for 3D blu-ray

In tsMuxeR's Blu-ray tab there's a tickbox title "3D Settings - Use base video stream for right eye". I guess ticking the box is supposed to swap L and R views, but does anyone know if this feature is supposed to work? I did a couple of tests and it seemed to do nothing, so I was wondering if I'm using it correctly or if it's just not enabled yet.

I suppose that this setting simply sets the "right view first" flag in the playlist (MPLS file). It doesn't physically change the order of the streams.

So the effect on playback should be the same as swapping L and R in player or display..?

Yes. Or at least it should be.

Yup, that's what I was hoping for. But it doesn't seem to work :/

Hi all,
I am using TsMuxer version 2.6.12. I have got multiple 1080p files in MPEG2 format. When I tried to merge them to form a single file, for some files the TsMuxer is throwing the error
Error: Bitstream exception Unknown exception. It doesnot have to be! Please contact application support team for more information.
I even tried converting each of these MPEG2 files to TS format and tried to merge. Then also I am seeing above error message.
Can anyone shed some light on the issue please? Thanks.

running mpeg2 files through ProjectX or similar tools ment to fix mpeg2 streams might be a good idea.

I'm having a ton of problems with some files that I have. Every time I run them through TSMuxer, I get the response "Bad SEI detected. SEI too short." If I select "Do Not Change SEI," it comes out fine. However, I'm using these files to author a Blu-ray and every time that Blu-ray is authored, each of those files "jumps" (for lack of a better word) towards the beginning of the file. It's not huge but it's about 2-3 frames, I would say. Is there any way to fix this? Is re-encoding the only option? Since MultiAVChd uses tsmuxer to create the discs, this anomaly is there on all of them. :(
The odd thing is that I've done nothing different with these files than I normally do when recording. I used my Hauppauge HD PVR, which works without fail...until now. :(

Still holding out hope for a resurgence of development with this! It's still not as stable as 1.10.6 but I'm very interested in continuing to test and provide samples of problematic clips.

That would be super cool to do :)

Possible way
-use current tsMuxer version
- follow the indication in "Guide for adding a subtitle on a Blu-Ray Disc keeping the original menu and its functions" (2D only), which can work for 3D too (a # of times) with simple adaptation (2mts, 2clpi)
- use the DVDFab mini-iso solution (not perfect solution but ok)

Hi!
I have problem with subtitles (.sup) after muxing them in 3D bluray. I can't turn them off when I play muxed bluray in PowerDvd or in TMT6. Subs are not forced nor hardcoded to video. What can I do to fix this?
Thanks in advance.

I know that tsMuxeR is not developed any more, but I want to point out a big bug in tsMuxeR for peoples interested in the 3D-planes. The current versions of tsMuxeR does not assign correctly the 3D-plane numbers to the subtitle streams. I have described that bug in details in the BD3D2MK3D thread here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1693091#post1693091). But remember that you can't trust the tsMuxeR output for the 3D-plane numbers. (I don't know if a similar bug exists when muxing to a BD structure, but I don't think so.)

Bug exist for sure when muxing to BD structure.

Why? If you mux several audio or subtitle files, I think that tsMuxeR will mux them in the order of the meta file, and therefore assign correct IDs to the streams, and correct 3D-planes to the subtitle streams. (Of course, if you use files that you have demuxed with tsMuxeR and you don't pay attention to the demux bug, the 3D-planes may be wrong in your meta file, but in that case, it's the demux bug that happens, and there is no bug during the mux.)

You are right, I was thinking of process of using demux first and then remux. Muxing by itself is okay like you mentioned.

Only if someone:
a) manages to get in touch with physic, plus
b) manages to convince him to release the source-code.

Ok. But the ISO created by tsmuxer is not the complete disk. How can i add the other part of the disc back (menus, extras,...) ?
IF STILL OF INTEREST A POSSIBLE WAY IS
-use current tsMuxer version to add subtitle to the main movie (disc, not iso version). here not important what created as ssif as will have to be recreated later by DVDFab mini-iso
- follow the indication in "Guide for adding a subtitle on a Blu-Ray Disc keeping the original menu and its functions" - this instructions are for a 2D only disc but can be applied to a 3D disc too copying the 2 CLPI and 2mts files created by tsMuxer
- use BDEdit to update the playlist file of the main movie upon the added PG
- use the DVDFab mini-iso solution (which works)
try to believe it!

Do you mean the timestamp for the first frame in a Blu-ray mux ?
An usual value for --start-time in a Blu-ray mux is 00:00:11.65066666 or 524280 (dec) or 00 07 FF F8 (hex).

So how did you know that 00:00:11.65066666 is 524280? If I have the timestamp for the first frame is 00:00:02.000 so which decimal number that I have?
r0lZ

45Khz means 45000 ticks per seconds.
So, to obtain the timestamp in internal format, just multiply the number of seconds by 45000.
For example: 11.65066666 * 45000 = 524280
Or for 00:00:02.000: 2 * 45000 = 90000

I Haven't checked the thread over a month so i didn't see your reply. so thank you very much. I Actually manage to figure this method out on my own lol. Works perfect i might add.
Off topic question: is there an easier way to edit the IG Menus (Not JAVA) without the BDEdit method?
Thanks.

offset plane#Any value
The 3D-plane must have valid 3D data, or your subtitles will be displayed without 3D effect. Note that even when tsMuxeR tells you that there are 32 3D-planes in the MPLS, that doesn't mean that all planes are filled with valid 3D data. Most of them are "empty" (filled with 0x80 values). Some cheap 3DBDs have no valid planes at all, and in that case, you cannot display the subtitles in 3D.
It is not easy to select a good plane offset, as usually the 3D-planes of the original BD have been designed for specific subtitle streams. You should select a plane that is used for a language similar to the language of your additional subtitle stream: approximately the same length of strings, same positions on screen, and same forced subtitles.
Note also that for a good 3D effect, you need to position your subtitles precisely at the same places than in the original BD. Usually, an external subtitle stream has been converted from a SRT file, and therefore all subtitles are located in the bottom centre of the screen. The 3D-plane of the original BD may not be suitable for that subtitle stream.
BD3D2MK3D (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1685518) has several tools that may be useful to check the 3D-planes and to position the subtitles of your stream correctly (but to use them, you will need to demux the original subtitles and the MVC stream first).

Hello There
Same problem and we're not alone, there is an interesting thread on plex forums about this. Don't know if the problem is related to tsMuxer or
Samsung TV.

However, I have just discovered that tebasuna51's UsEac3To GUI is able to recognise the .ts stream. And is able to de-mux the audio and video streams without introducing errors. The de-muxed elementary streams are recognised perfectly by TSmuxer GUI :)

Download the executable textST.exe (http://multiavchd.deanbg.com/textST.exe) (80kb)
Using command prompt:
textST in_file [out_file]
* in_file must be in .m2ts or .pes format, containing only textST text subtitle stream (one per file)
* out_file if not set, output will be written to in_file.srt

The problem is to find the file containing the language concerned, that is the hardest thing.
Once you find then I can start the "textST.exe filexxx.m2ts".
This is the scren of MakeMKV that detects the subtitles TextST

I came here hoping for a solution, but did not know the program is no longer developed...I use TSMUXER on 3 & 4 TB drives all the time. I don't think that's the problem. I have seen random issues in the past, however, that are related to the use of USB drives vs. SATA connected drives. If I recall correctly, it was driver specific. Are both of the drives connected via the same technology in your report?

Well, from the bottom of the screen shot, it would appear that the title @ 29.9 gb is the main movie file containing the sub.
TestST Subtitles are kept in different m2ts files than the main movie, The Mummy has several small m2ts files of about 360kb that, I think, each contain a single subtitle track. In the m2ts files MediaInfo lists the subtitles as "menu" but there's no language which is determined in the mpls files, from the playlist MediaInfo doesn't say which m2ts file the subtitles are stored in... so...
Now that MakeMKV and MKVToolNiox are starting to adopt these text subtitles, hopefully a new generation of tools will be developed to deal with them.
