can u tell to Gabest - "integrate haali media splitter, ro support nero avc *.mp4 files" ?

Info on Haali renderer: seems it's a subvariant of VMR9, and completely GPU based, i.e. operates only if shaders supported by 3D card. It's believed that the renderer now incorporates much-expected faster and proper version of bicubic resizer (compared to old MPC one, which is written by Haali as well :P).

I still dont' know how to turn that new render on, it's grayed out for me in that build.

I have tested MP4 spitter of the new build with some trailers from the Apple site to see how it now handles AAC in mov. The following trailers crashed MPC:
- monster house
- final destination 3
- lady in the water
- the fountain
- apocalypto
- the brothers grimm
- she's the man
- hoot
- when a stranger calls
These play ok:
- dirty
- imax desolation
- wildlife

All work fine with Haali's splitter.

I could need a little help here: I've downloaded a few mp4-files from Ahead's Nero-page (http://trailer.nerodigital.com/deu/index.html). Unfortunately I'm unable to play them with mpc, it just keeps telling me there is no video codec available. I've tried it with and without Haali's splitter, and with coreAVC, x264, Quicktime 7 as well as Nero 7 installed there should be enough h264-codecs on my system... MPC should be able to play Nero-AVC-files, shouldn't it? Any ideas?

clsid
26th January 2006, 17:15
x264 is only an encoder, not a decoder
QuickTime 7 only plays Main Profile H.264, not High Profile.
CoreAVC and ffdshow support most of the High Profile stuff, but not all yet.

Nero Showtime should be able to play them.

I can play them with Haali, CoreAVC and ffdshow (for decoding AAC).

So you can play those Nero files with mpc? Hm, I must be doing something wrong...
Have you blocked/prefered any filter in mpc? Which renderer do you use?
Thanks!

I only tried this one:

Unfortunately that doesn't work either...
It plays just fine with Nero and the Quicktime player though...
However, I tried that "Latest Game" trailer, and that one does run with MPC!
One of those which I can't play is the "Dick and Jane" trailer (http://trailers.nerodigital.com/Sony/DickAndJane_Stan.mp4), would be nice if you could test that one, clsid!

Same for me, MPC crashes with the listed trailers.
Even If I uncheck internal AAC filter and used the one from ffdshow.
And with the successful trailers I have to use overlay as output because with VMR9 my cpu is too high (with my P4 3.2ghz)

New version must have increased support for Haali media splitter video renderer :P I already tried test version of Haali renderer and it's quite nice. Though still buggy :) However, for those who don't have at least 6xxx series G-Force or equivalent, new renderer might be not much of use due to low speed.

@Gabest and @Elias: attempt to save image from mpc whilst using Haali renderer generates error message ("getDIB failed"). Don't know though if it's bug or feature :)

Apple's hd trailer which was played with the internal mp4 splitter (0128 compile):
firewall-tlr1_h480p.mp4
dirty_h480p.mp4

which doesn't:
hoot-tsr_h480p.mp4
whenastrangercalls_h480p.mp4
shes_the_man_h480p.mp4
click-tlr1_h480p.mp4

You need to get Haali render itself ^^ It's a separate file, dxr.dll. Then register it and then you'll be able to use it from mpc.

Sorry, as I just have discovered, the current build of that renderer happens to be still in alpha-test mode :P. Thus no redistribution so far. Besides, it still doesn't have full functionality and is already found to be buggy on 5500 and 5700 gforce cards. (I actually have one of them :)).

But Haali intends to do public beta test once some problems with current build are solved.

Ok, good to know. BTW, do you have any information regarding the planned functionality of the Haali renderer (ie. what does it do)? I can foresee some shader effects and the like. I wonder if lanczos resize with shaders is possible :)

Just tried one of those new builds and yes, I've been able to play AAC within .MOV

I've been able to use MPC's own MP4 splitter together with MPC's own AAC audio decoder. And also MPC's own MP4 splitter together with FFDshows AAC audio decoder.

When I tried QuickTime's "The Brother Grimm" .MOV trailer with CoreAVC (v0.0.04), MPC crashed.

However, after feeding the MOV directly into YAMB and re-muxing it to .MP4, it plays perfectly. I was even able to use FFDshow to transcode the 6Ch AAC audio to 6Ch AC3, with no dropped frames or loss of A/V sync.... Nice :D

what I have found out with these apple trailers...

MPC with it's own MP4 splitter together with FFDshows AAC audio decoder plays the files just fine as long as no 5.1 aac audio is used...

well,

"Aeon Flux_h720p.mov" and "The Da Vinci Code_h720p.mov" just play as expected while "V for Vendetta_h720p.mov" as already mentioned or "Superman Returns_h720p.mov" don't play... as you may know, just rename these trailers to *.hdmov and then they will play

omg, my english at a sunday morning :D - but I hope you understand

the thing is apple stores aac differently in mov as in mp4, thats why a mp4 player will never support aac in mov files (unless it becomes a mov player)

seems like apple invented yet another different, not backwards compatible way of storing multichannel aac in mov

how braindead is this?

people should use mp4. mov should be banned to quicktime only :p

And besides: I know no source of HighDefinition trailers but Apple! And I'm very grateful for that, I love those trailers! :)

But it's a great shame the trailers with 6Ch AAC are "unique" to Apple's QT7 player and it's MOV container.

Maybe this has something to due with QT7's ability to re-map the AAC audio channels within the .MOV container!?

In contradiction to Apple MS even released whole movies in HD. And trailers aren't something great, better to have the movies in HD.

Apple is maybe against MS, but their goal would be to replace MS with even more arrogance in about every sector. Security companies also complain a lot about Apple totally ignoring them and more ...

All Apple wants is get the cash that's going elsewhere, and their coding skills are below acceptable.

As you see with the mov container, Apple also only wants everyone to be bound to their stuff, they got no interest in being open for everyone. A world with Apple being the leader will look the same as a world with MS on top, only that Apple would prolly also kill off all competetion on the hardware site.

Maybe Google should kick in and wipe apples share on those trailers, as google seems to be more into using standards ...

Apple only get bootlicked as ppl are imagining things that aren't true, you always have the feeling something else is better than what you got now anyways, I know a lot non-techie Macusers that complain about shitty bugs and more ...
