Dunno what Nero will have to say about that (but yes.... their filter is pretty good) :)

You are talking about Nero ShowTime?

SeeMoreDigital

You are talking about Nero ShowTime? Not specifically!

For quite sometime Nero have included their own decoder filter (ie: NeQTDec.ax) that makes it possible for you to play Sorenson SVQ1 and SVQ3 video with QDM2 audio streams within .MOV using ShowTime Player

However, because Nero's NeQTDec.ax is a direct-show based filter (and is not locked), it is possible to use it with other software media players - but probably not for much longer!

About the Nero's dshow filter: I dunno the reason, but on my OS Media Player Classic seems to playback MOV and 3GPP using a QuickTime engine (I can't seen any filter in the filter tab and 3gpp subtitles are rendered just like QT does).
Is it normal? Also if I set the MOV/MP4 internal splitter it uses always a kind of qt engine.

Hi Hyper,

Have you remembered to adjust/select these filters: -

I found a bug in MPC (or at least it's a bad feature imho). It ignores the settings from HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Media Type\Extensions\.mov. I have set Neros parser as a preferred source filter there. Works fine in GraphEdit, but MPC insists on using Gabests own MP4 splitter (external, internal is disabled). Disabling the external MP4 splitter will turn on the internal one (in low-merit mode).

Nero probably wants you to use their own apps and not some evil open source stuff that harms their profits and is only made to crack and hack their stuff.

clsid
16th June 2006, 15:59
Then they shouldn't make DirectShow filters. The purpose of DS stuff is to be useable in any DS player.

When I rename graphedit to mplayerc.exe then it still works, so the filters are not blocking specific apps, like in Nero 7.

possibly MPC's problem. See also

Thanks SeeMoreDigital... how do you configure to use M$ own filters? I have the wmv redist codecs installed but not WMP, this dosen't mean I have to install WMP 11 dose it?

Windows Media codecs:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/forpros/format/codecdownload.aspx

You might also need the Windows Media Format runtimes.

Liisachan
17th June 2006, 01:58
if WMV in AVI, you may need this VCM codec and any DS players can play it.

Is there some configuration I'm missing?

I have the same problem on my computer at work. First I thought it is because I don't have Administrator rights and I can't install codecs (filters). But now I "hacked" my computer, installed all filters and it still doesen't work. I have Windows 2000 and WMP9. It plays fine in it, but doesen't play in WMP 6.4 neither.

clsid

I don't think WMP6.4 is compatible with the Windows Media DMO codecs (*DMO.dll). You'll need DirectShow filters. You can find a codec pack specially for WMP6.4 on the site that I posted a few posts above this one.

I have tried that too, clsid. MPC doesn't play well those wmv files: picture freezes after a few seconds, or immediatly after resizing ...
Try it with any wmv trailer from http://www.gametrailers.com ...

It uses the following decoders:

- msadds.ax

It's OK here too, but try this:
http://trailers.gametrailers.com/gt_vault/t_scarface_trailer.wmv
(you must set the referer to this: http://www.gametrailers.com)

and resize to 200% (ALT+3), video freezes ...
- WMVideo Decoder DMO
- WMAudio Decoder DMO

ps: what is msadds.ax anyway ?

clsid

That trailer plays without freezes too. Resizing is smooth.
msadds32.ax = Windows Media Audio decoder (DirectShow filter)
But with the DMO audio decoder it works fine here too.

Hi gabest,

a feature request (if you read the thread):

1)
I like your shoutcast filter but in recent time a lot
of radio stations use "ICEcast protocol" for streaming.
e.g. http://www.soundportal.at:8000/live160

Unfortunatlely, this new protocol isn't supported in the shoucast source filter.

More info:
http://www.icecast.org/

2)
Can you add an interface to support a user-supplied
buffer size value in the shoutcast filter like winamp does it? this would help to eliminate the interrupt-problem.

Thanks in advance!

wow thx for the info!

if anyone is interested you can find the source here (http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/guliverkli/guliverkli/src/filters/parser/mp4splitter/?sortby=date)

it is based on the new bento4 mp4 code, i hope its any stable...

i hope someone can make a standalone build? its easier to test it in graphedit imho

hehe a good opportunity for gabest to maybe update vsfilter to handle ttxt :)

(of course vcd/svcd is mpeg-1/2 and not .mp4, but you can place mpeg-1/2 video in .mp4 too, which is i guess what elias meant)

hi dude,
your link doesn't work for source code, can you update please?

thanks

Look up the mpc project on sourceforge (guliverkli) and browse svn to /guliverkli/src/filters/parser/mp4splitter/. Or just use an svn client to get it all onto your system.

VMR9 Renderless + VMR mixer mode + YUV mixing = MPC's internal subtitler doesn't work.

Can anyone confirm?

Doesn't work when a filter outputs YV12 only as well. About time this problem was fixed.

Hi,

My MPC (celticdruid build rev611) freezes when i try to watch this mov file with directshow: http://www.a-film.nl/film/trailer/00000397_quicktime_HOOG.mov

I use the ffdshow videomixer9 build ffdshow-tryouts-rev47-sse.exe.

Does somebody reproduce this problem ?

thanks

It crashes in WMP too. Both ffdshow and Nero's QT decoder make it crash.

It plays correctly in MPC is you play it using the QuickTime engine.

Hello, I have one small question about MPC and subtitles.
When use VMR7(renderless) or VMR9(renderless) my picture become strange(pale, bloodless)
but when select default video renderer picture is normal. I have checked Help and there
say it is recomended to use True Color desktop color space, but I was looking for and
didn't find it.I would like to use MPC(free, small, powerful) but don't know to solve
this problem, also searched this forum and didn't find answer.
If you can help, I would be grateful.
Thanks in advance.

You probably ran into the problem with video levels vs PC levels. Video levels 16-235 in a PC monitor will look pale/contrastless because 0-255 is expected.

If you use ffdshow, you can fix this by either enabling the levels filter to convert 16-235 -> 0-255 OR forcing RGB32 output by leaving only RGB32 and HQ YV12 to RGB32 checkboxes checked in the output page. The latter takes more CPU, but is better quality.

Alternatively you could use your video card's own video settings (brightness, contrast etc.) if they work with VMR rendereres. Depending on how the contrast and brightness settings work you may need to alter both of them or just contrast. Fixing the problem this way isn't quite exact without some kind of calibration video which has a grayscale gradient and markers at 16 and 235.

You could also use Overlay renderer plus VSFilter for displaying the subtitles.

and best results get with overlay renderer + VSFilter and also with my video card's settings.

Guys, could you help me out?
I have very outdated PII-300mhz laptor w/ 2560kB video memory. Any default overlay mode in any player (mplayer,mpc,vls...) displays with distorted colors, and there's notheing i can do. I know it is hardware/driver problem. The only colorspace that works correctly is YUY2. Is there any way of using this colorspace instead of default one?
(I think default is YV12, not sure though)

Liisachan
23rd August 2006, 00:56
I think that's possible in many cases, just by ticking only YUY2 and unchecking everything else (Y* RGB*) in Output | ... colorspaces.

Sry, I shoulda been clearer; i was talking about ffdshow
Start->ffdshow->Video dec. conf.->Output

You can also look at a few previous posts, like "If you use ffdshow, you can fix this by...forcing..." That's what I was talking about too

Install ffdshow and make sure that FLV1 decoding is enabled in its settings.
