Hey jdobbs, I've got a question for you: is "Deinterlace with DECOMB" only meant activate if it detects an interlaced stream? Because at the moment, it adds deinterlacing commands even for progressive streams. Thanks in advance for the clarification.

great day! it's very understandable how the easy errors get left in. You're concentrating on the hard stuff!
Keep up the great effort, because believe me, we appreciate it immensely

The only decomb package I have found contains decomb510.dll
Is this version compatible with RB?
If compatible am I suppose to rename it to decomb.dll?
If compatible am I suppose to rename it to decomb.dll?
That is what I did and jdobbs said it would be ok.

If compatible am I suppose to rename it to decomb.dll? You just have to make sure the DECOMB version you get is compatible with the AVISYNTH version. 5.1.1 is compatible with AVISYNTH 2.5 -- which is what I'm recommending for DVD-RB.
You can download if from Neuron2's Site (http://neuron2.net/decomb/decomb511.zip)

I havent prestripped anything or preprocessed it with anything. The only thing thats been removed is the audio streams and they are being removed by DVD-RB.

I loaded my files in DVD-RB 0.29b and was going to strip out just 2 of 4 audios (DTS and French) and I only had these detected in my movie titleset, VTS_06.
Audio stream to keep:
Audio_1 6 Chan,DTS,Lang: English
Audio_2 6 Chan,AC3,Lang: English
In actuality, this is what I have in IfoEdit, which is 4 audio streams.
Audio 1: English (Dolby AC-3) 6ch 48Kbps DRC normal (ID: 0x80)
Audio 2: English (DTS ) 6ch 48Kbps DRC normal (ID: 0x89)
Audio 3: Français (Dolby AC-3) 6ch 48Kbps DRC normal (ID: 0x82)
Audio 4: English (Dolby AC-3) 2ch 48Kbps DRC normal (ID: 0x83)
What confuses me is that my DVD-RB detected audios, Audio_1 and Audio_2, are swapped according to what I see in IfoEdit.

Quick question. Since the path for decomb and mpeg2decdg were added to RB setup, do i need to put in the location eventhough they should be auto loaded in avisynth 2.54.

If you already have mpeg2dec3.dll in your AVISynth 2.5/plugins directory, you won't need to give it a location in DVD-RB. But, you will need to give DVD-RB the location of your Decomb.dll (the 'Deinterlace with DECOMB' option won't activate until you give it a path).

If it is correctly loaded in the Plug-in directory and the registry entry is set correctly you don't have to set the path at all. But there were so many incorrectly installed versions of MPEG2DEC found on the first few rounds of DVD-RB that I decided to make a preemptive strike.

@KungFuCow
I tried to strip out any audios with Bring It On (R1) but there's still a problem with DVD-RB 0.29b keeping audios, in question, being unstripped. I knew I selected DTS for removal but it was still there as confirmed in VobEdit. Anyways, my end size came out to 4.31 GB.

I have a disc with a folder labled JACKET_P. After the Rebuild phase, can I just copy that folder from the source to the DVD-RB working directory and those files will work? Or do there need to bespecial entries in the IFO files to make them work. If there need to be entries in the IFO files, does DVD-RB copy them to the new ifo files? Last, what are the files in the JACKET_P folder for? I've seen an option in DVD Maestro to add jacket file, bu never had a clear explination of what they're for.
Thanks,
Stiff

ConvertToYUY2(interlaced=true) is no longer in the options. Any ideas? Also, it's not putting the path to decomb in the AVS's. I know this dvd is interlaced. I thought it also needed the FieldDeinterlace() command as well. just an fyi! Keep up the great work.

@ jdobbs
A minor point but if the Temp field is not set in the
main screen, the first third of the process is activated
and ends with an error when the .AVS files cannot be located.
Just needs some idiot proofing here - perhaps a system default path
or a rebuilder warning msg.
I got the overflow error again with v0.29b but will try v0.30
before posting details.
Thanks.

The Jacket_p directory is used to display a picture (The movie jacket for example) instead of a blank/blue screen when you press the stop button on your DVD player...of course some players aren't compatible with that option and just ignore this directory..My Sony NS715P does it....You can copy them, it will work...no encryption....just pictures...

Hi, just need some clarifications about 0.31. Does it scan if the source is interlaced or not ? If yes, does it deinterlace automatically ? Do I have to select "Deinterlace with DECOMB" to deinterlace the source ? And do I have to unselect it if I know it's not interlaced or is all automatic ?
Thx to make it all clear for me.

Thx to make it all clear for me. It scans no matter what. It examines the "progressive" flag. No, it does not deinterlace automatically -- mainly because that isn't always desirable -- but if you check the "Deinterlace with DECOMB" AVS option and it is interlaced the source will be deinterlaced. Sources that are recognized as progressive are never deinterlaced.

Yes but very excited is not the words to describe such a program jdobbs has created. I'm thinking more along the lines of an amazing piece of work from a genius when it comes to programming.
My AudioDub settings are checked upon initial startup of RB .31 but I have to uncheck and then recheck for it to be added to the avs files. Not a big deal really but every once in a while I will forget to do this and when I get back to the house after the phases have completed I notice that the AudioDub is not there.
That's the reason for my initial post. Hopes that this may be on the agenda for the next release.
Anyways thanks for your professional response.

i'm trying to back up csi season 1 disc 1 (ntsc)
dvd rebuilder v0.31b
cce 2.50
avisynth 2.5.4
one click method
it takes a while in Phase I: preparation... jumps right through Phase II: encoding, starts to rebuild, and then i get an error window stating that "There's nothing to be done"
sorry if this problem has already been stated, but i didnt feel like reading through 40-someodd pages. call me lazy.

ohhh... and one more thing.
as i'm no programmer i'm not sure exactly how difficult this would be but.... maybe have rebuilder check to make sure all the paths for exe's and dll's are valid BEFORE starting a project. i know it sounds dumb, but it might save some idiots out there (like me) the hour it takes preparing the sources before it discovers you renamed your cce folder sinse the last time you used rebuilder.
OR... add PAL to NTSC conversion. not sure how possible menu reauthoring would be handled... or is that just laughable? anyhow, i have a big donation waiting for easy PAL conversion!
at long last... i could watch david lynch's "lost highway" on something besides a cheap apex player.
regardless, i'll be making a donation of some sort as soon as i have the cash. thanks for the great prog

Are you using eclCCE? The eclCCE file needs to know where the eclCCE exe file is. Double click on eclCCE and it will ask for the location of the CCE exe file. You then need to get DVD RB point to the eclCCE exe rather than the CCE exe file.
cdburrner
7th April 2004, 11:16
man do i feel dumb... i thought eclcce was asking for a path to cce to patch it, making it compatible with command line. didn't know i had to open cce through eclcce. fixed. reencoding as we speek.
and no, i dont believe PAL the NTSC has horrible results... i mean, i'm sure it does when people try to use crappy programs such as nero recode, but using pulldown, it should look just fine. just wondering if there was a simple way to work it into rebuilder.

It has been already reported it is not recommended to switch back to older releases of DVD-RB. If errors are FLAGGED in the the actual release and not in the older, it does'nt mean that the ERRORS were not present earlier, it means just they were not stopping the program.
DVD-RB is in beta test, and the troubles you have are reported by many other beta testes; you'd better just be patient, looking for new releases of DVD-RB that hopefully will fix the reported bugs...
Cheers

Sorry if this is a question already answered or if it's too basic but I haven't had a chance to run RB yet due to hard disk space limitation. I'm relatively ignorant of the whole Big3 process so I figured I'd let the experts sort out the problems during this beta testing phase.
Anyways, does RB have the ability to combine different titlesets into one title? I often do backups of episodes and will use Shrink to trim out the repetitive intros/credits. But that creates several titlesets.
I figured with my space limitation (will have to buy an external HD for my laptop one of these days), maybe I could run Shrink and have it decrypt and trim the movie without any compression, then run that through RB. I never backup extras btw.
Thanks.

At this point RB can only do (nearly) direct backups, the only thing it can change (by removal) are audio streams. It can't even remove titlesets, let alone re-arrange them. I know Jdobbs has plans for it to do much more, but from what I have gathered any advanced processes (like restructuring the layout) would be a long way off, if it were to ever happen.
