Well.... can any of you guys explain how the exact same file is displaying different information in the same media player with different splitters - or whatever the filter is called?

I just told you, Haali's splitter only has one audio out pin, so MPC can only show one audio stream. And Haali's splitter obviously doesn't read out the stream tag.

Surely if Haali splitter can display the "stream tag" information via its own system tray icon... it can be designed to send the same information to MediaPlayer Classic?

I didn't say it can't, I said it didn't. (commonly known as "missing feature" ;) ) Although I don't know if is possible to pass the stream tag to MPC.

(I don't know what the official name for this is, stream tag just felt natural.)

the itunes tags are done for the whole file, not stream-wise

Kurtnoise

edit: ok it claims to store the tags as utf-8, but here special characters are still not displayed correctly, so i doubt it does utf-8 (correctly)
mmh yeah...I tested with french special characters and they are not displayed correctly. So, I'll try to improve tg but the last sources which are available don't have the utf support.

btw can you make it possible to configure the path to tg.exe?
sure...

@ Kurtnoise

I hope you do not forget my question regarding the personal setting support for the "-name function". I always use "French 5.1" for 5.1 AAC sound in french language (my daughter learns french in scool and will have this :) ) and "Forced Deutsch" for the subs. It would be easier to define my own presets. Bond says it would be better to adapt the way Nero does this - but I think this is not important.

Yeah...not bad. :) Ballack is a good player.

I hope you do not forget my question regarding the personal setting support for the "-name function".
Try the last build please...;) To change the name, click on Rename button and then validate your preset by press "Enter" on keyboard. I hope you like it.

btw can you make it possible to configure the path to tg.exe?

Would it be possible to include an option to "switch off" the ISMA tagging (or whatever it should be called)?

When playing MP4 files in hardware, there's no real need for OD and BIFS data

bifs/od is needed so you can play the stream in a mpeg-4 systems player

also keeping bifs/od does NOT hurt at all, so whats the point of removing it?

Any ideas what would be the recommended expression to use?mpeg-4 systems streams

eg mp4menu also works via these streams. the default isma streams are very basic ones tough

you can also see it as something comparable to flash

I what ways does a "systems player" differ from a hardware stand-alone playersystems makes interactivity, like menus, or animations possible

I don't need them... so why generate muxes with them.... It's just a choice option suggestion.yamb is definitely the wrong tool to ask this for as yamb is "only" a gui for mp4box, so mp4box has to offer that option before yamb can show it to you in the graphical user interface

Thanks mate :)

Looks like we are a forum of two at the moment.

I've read the paper and taken the dog for a walk.... I even went to Lidl to buy a cheap MPEG-4 DVD player (for £20.00).... but they had sold out.... bummer!

Something is behaving oddly....

I generated 2No "video only" files. One I re-named to say "Video Stream". The other I re-named to say "VideoStream".... but for some reason MediaPlayer Classic is not displaying the last letter: -

http://img373.imageshack.us/img373/9285/naming1ic.png

As a cross reference I also generated a file wth all 26No characters of the english alphabet. The last character is missing here too!

http://img273.imageshack.us/img273/48/yambcharactertest0rn.png

And finally.... mp4UI does not like these latest YAMB muxes: -

And finally.... mp4UI does not like these latest YAMB muxes: thats the same error as mp4dump tells me (mp4ui is surely using mp4dumps code) and might be a bug in mp4box (i already made a bugreport on the gpac site)

unfortunately, the presets are not saved with this build. So, wait the 1.3.2 version in a couple of hours. :)

Kurtnoise
13th November 2005, 17:17
too fast... :D

So, after some different builds, here is officially Yamb 1.3.2 release.

Changes from version 1.3.1 to 1.3.2 :
Add:
- Pixels Aspect Ratio, TrackName, Interleaving for Import Settings.
- Tags support*.
- New function for the output file renaming.

Update:
- Some hints here and there.
- Copy/Execute command lines options which were disabled (right click on the MP4Box Command Line Form).

Bugfixes:
- Some access violations for extracting part.
- Subtitles remaining.
- few others.

*: You must have tg.exe to be able to tag your output file. I didn't included this tool into Yamb package because this is not mandatory and is not part of mp4box. In addition, too much few players are able to display these tags (the last Media Player Classic, iTunes...). And the most important, if you plan to add chapters files and tag your ouput file, chapters will be remove. However, if you're interested by this feature, you can grab this tool here: http://kurtnoise.free.fr/mp4tools/ (tg_mp4tagger).

As usual, you can grap the last release here (http://www.unite-video.com/phpbb/download.php?id=1774) for yamb.exe only or there (http://www.unite-video.com/phpbb/download.php?id=1775) for the whole package.

Enjoy.. ;)

Indeed. So, blame tg not me... :scared:recently someone warned me that tg is not save to use as it seems to fuck up some atoms, also if you tag a file multiple times with it you will get duplicate atoms (look at them in dumpster), so tg is not save to use imho

edit:
I don't have quicktime 7.03 installed, so I can't say anything about that, but I see you testing with the "tg" binary. You should be careful with it.

After some.... massaging, I managed to compile it on Mac OS X. First of all, if your udta atom (I think) is over 200,000 bytes it bombs out (easily fixed). But then it also strips all but a handful of atoms in "moov.udta.meta.ilst". Granted, most I don't care about. On a sample iTunes purchases song, it worked: worked at stripping 21 atoms to 7. And it removed my "covr.data" atom. Besides that, while it deleted those atoms, all it did was make a "free" atom: 460kb worth of null space. That amounted to 11% - a heavy price if you do it a huge number of files.

Not to berate the author of the software, because I know we all start somewhere, and it was a good crack at it, but just know that that tagger isn't idyllic (although none really are), and there are compromises in using that tg.exe tagger. and as i said it doesnt set the tags as utf-8, which is necessary

mp4tags and tg seem to be buggy tough so people might better not use it

Yes, tg.exe needs to get improved because only with a comandline tagger you can do do the things in one GUI or in one batchfile :)

I would like to mux MPEG4 (Nero Digital) with AC3 but YAMB doesn't support it. Why?

celtic_druid
18th November 2005, 19:01
Because mp4box doesn't support it, which in turn doesn't support it because mp4 doesn't support AC3 (not counting private streams).

Strange...
MPEG4 ASP + AC3 5.1 is supported by many DVD players, no?
Any tool to do it?
