The doubling thing happened with me too...

The options in the options tab (Convert input subs...) get wiped from the command line when you enter the "Mux" tab or when you click the "Mux" button.

Thanks for the test build.... I've opened, imported, muxed and closed the application several times now and so far I have not encountered the "doubling" effect again :)


I've also been playing with the PAR adjustment.

I've been able to adjust the PAR of MPEG-4 SP/ASP video streams, using the following pre-defined PAR settings: -

But I've been unable to manually input my own "Custom (PAR) DAR" settings, ie: 16:15 for 4:3 PAL, 8:9 for 4:3 NTSC, 64:45 for 16:9 PAL or 32:27 for 16:9 NTSC.... for use with 720x480 NTSC and 720x576 PAL pixel frame sizes!

Are you able to make the DAR settings work, and if so, could you include them within the application together with a "1:1 Square Pixel" option


EDIT: I've been unable to adjust the PAR of MPEG-4 AVC video streams, using any of the pre-defined settings :(

The files either crash upon playback or freeze!

That aside, there's nothing stopping anybody from manually entering the relevant custom PAR values to represent perfect 4:3 of 16:9 DAR aspect ratio's upon playback in your software media player!

I've been doing this within x264 ever since it began offering the facility with great success ;)

But I guess we'll have to wait for somebody to compile the latest build of MP4Box before we can see if YAMB is going to support changing the PAR values of MPEG-4/AVC streams. Happily, changing the PAR values of MPEG-4/SP/ASP streams works very well indeed.

I've just tried changing the PAR of an AVC encode which already included 64:45 PAR (16:9) signalling to 1:1..... and it worked perfectly!

And then fed the 1:1 encode into YAMB and added 64:45 PAR signalling to create a 16:9 DAR encode.... and it worked perfectly again!

In this case custom settings are useless...:-/ And what about confusion between PAR and SAR for n00bs ?

In the next build, the custom settings for this feature will be saved automatically. So, when you reload yamb, they will be automatically included in the drop-down. I hope it will be useful.

Obviously... the only way a DAR setting would make sense is if YAMB would read out the resolution of the video and from the given DAR and resolution would calculate the PAR. Giving different DAR presets for NTSC and PAL, just adds redundancy cause they would be doing exactly the same.

i get the same strange values when running -info on an anamorphic ateme encodeI don't think this is a problem with MP4Box. I've just checked and found that these weird "indicated track size" readings appear in all my old anamorphic Recode2 MPEG-4 SP, ASP and AVC samples and my old mp4UI muxes....

However, as soon as you manually enter the required PAR value into MP4Box and re-mux you obtain the correct "indicated track size"

It would seem Haali's splitter provides even less information about the individual streams within MediaPlayer Classic than MPC's own splitter!

I know that Apple stores their tags in a private atoms but.....erff i'm completely off-topic. Sorry. :p- you either tag via mpeg-7 (afaik far too complicated and powerful (uses xml and what not)
- or you use this meta atom i dont know exactly how its supposed to work (noone uses it anyways), as i read the specs there is no definition for how to place eg an "author tag" or anything similar in it

yep but with an another tool it does...;)the only cmdl one which does it is mp4tags from mpeg4ip, but mp4tags doesnt store the tags as utf-8, which is necessary, so it borks things with special characters, as you can read here:

also you have to make the decision if you want to extend yamb to other tools, which might become messy

this is not mp4tags but tg made by Richard123. And it should support the utf8 tags according to this page (http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=12075&st=50#).

In addition, this feature is NOT mandatory. If Yamb detects tg.exe in the root folder then tagging is added. Otherwhise nothing is done for that.

Its not the Haali's splitter that is providing the info, MPC is. Since Haali's splitter only spits out one audio stream at a time MPC only sees one.
