Pistacho,

Conversion without subtitles has been completed successfully.

Perfect, then Haali is NOT causing the problem.

Is related to the Avisynt plug-in for subtitles or .NET Framework used by the plug-in. Try to reinstall or repair .NET 4.0 => http://www.filehippo.com/download_dotnet_framework_4/

I already have it installed, (I use Shark's Codec Pack) didn't want any issues.

Don’t worry, I have installed the same Codec Pack as well and there are no conflicts. (also Haali version is the same)

You can also try:

- Uninstall and reinstall .NET (not repair)
- Update Avisynth to v2.6.0 Alpha 3 => http://sourceforge.net/projects/avisynth2/files/AviSynth_Alpha_Releases/

I've tried it on 3 different machines (Windows 7 64 and 32 bit) and it works perfect with 3D conversions with subtitles... I not know you can be wrong.

I need Avisynth 2.58 for other applications and I think this version is still unstable so I running out of 3D by now.
Still I'll try to reinstall net framework but I think it will not do because I'm sure it's working well.

Hi pistacho,

I asked this ages ago and was told its pointless but just thought I'd ask again: ability to encode with CRF for bluray output.

Reason is, I like to keep all my encodes on hard drives rather than burn to BD-25, and prefer to encode using CRF 18 as 99% of the time will give a transparent encode but significantly smaller size than BD-25 size. Working this way means I can save a significant amount of hard disk space over specifically targetting a BD-25 output size, while still retaining complete bluray compatibility for the option of burning to BD-25 should anything happen to my original discs.

Cool program.
My question is, how do I calculate the bitrate if I want to put two movies(mkv format) on a single bd-25 disc, for example?
I'm planning on feeding the avchd folder output from bdtoavchd into multiavchd to create menus and such, but I would like to make it so that there won't be any more transcoding involved in multiavchd apart from menu creation.

Would it be possible to add the option to save the settings entered into the 'Advanced' box to a profile or just even remembered so as not to have to enter them for every job?

Also it would be great if you could add qpfile support. And an option to disable or hide the adverts...although you might not want to do that :)

New version is out! ;)

Version 1.7.2 (02/12/2012)

New: Added option for output in AVCHD with CRF mode. Guarantees a certain quality and is faster (one pass) but the output size is variable.
New: Added code to check at runtime if the optional tools (Avisynth, Java and .NET Framework) are installed when required by a certain conversion (only for 3D SBS or when have to resize subtitles).
Fixed: Occasionally some JavaScript errors on the ad banner could freeze active conversions because of a problem with threads.
Fixed: The conversion of some Blu-Ray with a secondary video stream could fail.
x264 updated to revision r2164.
Small fixes and general improvements.

At the moment I manually demux the chapter file using eac3to, run it through shon3i's ChapterGen to obtain a qpfile, and then add the --qpfile command into the advanced box of BDtoAVCHD. As obviously both eac3to and ChapterGen are command line tools it could be straightforward to add support for it?

Unfortunately with 1.7.2 I am getting java script errors which are freezing conversions, eg today I set off 4 jobs before setting off for work. I came home 12 hours later and the first job is only on the muxing stage, frozen there because of a javascript error. I clicked no a few times and muxing started and then it moved onto the second job.

Not that I really know if this is an issue either way but I've noticed that BDtoAVCHD muxes as --avchd even when untouched HD audio is selected. I thought HD audio is not part of the AVCHD spec so shouldn't it be muxing as --blu-ray when untouched HD audio is selected? Or doesn't it matter?

Hi,

It is only to improve the compatibility and also a "trick" to allow HD audio on a BD9. No impact on quality or have any negative effect.

New: Added support for command line parameter --qpfile. Forces IDR frames on chapters transitions.
New: In the first installation sets the default language for audio and subtitles selection as same language of the user's operating system.
Fixed: removed all javascript errors on the banner (now it is!).
Small fixes and general improvements.

Hi everybody,

nice prog so far, but why the 3D (SBS) encoding speed so incredible slow? ~6fps on my "Phenom 2 X6@3Ghz" is very poor in my eyes.
The normal 2D encoding runs much faster, about 30fps at 1080p!

Whats the problem?

Have a few Q´s!

1. Can variable bittrate be set somewere and can one set it to lets say 10000k/s as I would in ex. Ripbot?

2. As I would mainly use BDtoAVCHD for 3D HSBS backups, it would be nice to be able to be able to choose as many subtitles as one want, and be able to have them but not put on permanent as in burned in...like now.
Whats the plans and can I keep a subtitle and when I look at the movie, turn it off?

3. Again, one GREAT tool u have made with BDtoAVCHD!! =)

Encoded PH7b and tryed to set so the subtitle got 2 from bottom, but seems to ended up 2 from visual on screen! :(
Want to be able to set it to 2 and it will be 2 for real from bottom, so in this case it would be in the black area under the movie, not it the picture, how 2 ?

In the logs I've seen 3 things that can fail and I think you're doing these 3 things at once :) :

a) Have the temporary folder into the output folder? ("L:\AVCD-Done\_Temp_Workingfolder\Draktranaren (2010) - How to Train Your Dragon 3D.job_0.left.h264")

Please set up separate folders e.g:
L:\AVCHD-Done
L:\_Temp_Workingfolder

b) Why open the m2ts instead of opening the root Blu-Ray folder? (LAST CMD LINE => "C:\Program Files (x86)\BDtoAVCHD\eac3to\eac3to.exe" "Z:\BDMV\STREAM\00000.m2ts")

In 3D conversions will never work because the .m2ts is only 2D part. Please open always BDMV folder or root folder if the source is a Blu-Ray structure.

c) Any reason to use preset placebo? (LAST CMD LINE => "C:\Program Files (x86)\BDtoAVCHD\x264\x264.exe" --preset "placebo" --tune "film" --level "4.1" --crf 16.....)

You should not use the preset placebo if you do not have a good reason (and less for testing). Check that first works with a "normal" preset (medium, slow, etc.).

Could you make it possible for both possitioning to be edit:able + being able to have more then one (1) subtitle in each done encode + being abale to change and have no subtitle present?

Think alot of ppl. would love that feature!

Maby I´m lost in here abit, but thought that it was the best settings since I have all the time in the world and for great encoding result, am I wrong ? =)

And since I use the following settings in RipBot, I would really like to have the same set in BDtoAVCHD, how do I add them correct and were ?

AVC Profile: High
AVC Level: 4.1

DVDFab is about 5 times quicker at converting blu-ray 3D to SBS MKV in my experience My computer isn't very quick, I get 2 frames per second with BDtoAVCHD and 10-12 frames with DVDFab ripper. At least BDtoAVCHD is free though.

I think what insx is trying to say, and I could be wrong since he/she has not come back to post, is that when he/she is using subtitles with his encodes it will give that error as it has happened to me.

I could be wrong, but if you could verify this, but the default font size is 65 and the Bottom offset is 25. I could be wrong, but when I use a smaller font size I have no problems in encoding the movie, but still at Bottom offset 25 the subtitles the second line goes to far towards the bottom, at least that is how I see it in my HD TV, I have no picture of it, but normally the subtitles when there are two lines, one line is on the movie side and the second is on the black side and when I encoded the movie the first line was half in the movie and the other half on the black side with font size 45.

If it happens again I will try and post an image.

NOTE: I normally use Tw Cen MT for my subtitles and it has worked fine for me with other programs with the same font and font size.

Hi!

I understand you're talking about MKV to AVCHD conversion. In conversions Blu-Ray to AVCHD does not use the font settings (output subtitles are the same as input untouched).

If you happen again try to repeat the conversion with default font settings and default font type (Arial) to see if it is related.

Anyway insx said that any command line returned -1 and therefore did not finish the conversion (I think that is another problem). In this case would be good to know the "last command line" in the Error Log.

Yes I understand what your saying. But I think I didn't explain myself properly.

I too had had that error when encoding a movie with the default font and font size as in your program and had the encode quit all of the sudden with an error log saying the same error, but unfortunately I deleted the log.

I will try another encode with the default settings with subtitle and see what happens.

They share a lot of similarities, but each brings a different piece of cake to the table. I personally use BDtoAVCHD for most of my BD to MKV conversions as I love the one window interface and it handles all of my sources cleanly and correctly.

BDRebuilder offers more output possibilities, including MP4 and DVD, but doesn't have support for IMDB lookup and a few other things.

BDRebuilder requires Avisynth, while BDtoAVCHD is entirely self contained.

Both are great pieces of software, so pick whichever fits your needs.

Sorry, I checked in here a few times and then left it for a while. I don't think this forum does email notifications. I'm converting 3D blu-ray to SBS MKV and all subtitle options I have tried except 'none' generate the exit code -1. I will try to get something more useful from the log for you.
