In the next version this option will be disabled if it detects 1080i. No problem for 1080p. :)

Always used those extra settings to help reduce macroblocking in dark scenes, background or flat areas.
--no-dct-decimate --aq-strength 1.15
Strange because I never had problems using these settings in RipBot.

I have uploaded a new version. This is the changelog:

I decided to make some adjustments because some files are almost the size limit(4.37) for the DVD5.

So I removed a few MB's entering the amount below, but the result was much lower than expected (2.92GB).

I do not see that this to be necessary. If the source is a Blu-Ray or MKV the audio is already in the correct format. In any case, the downmix to 2 channels, etc... can make the player...

In this case, yes I see it useful. As you say the quality loss is negligible (24bit to 16 bit) and save the 7.1 does not make sense if then is played in 5.1 equip. I will look to put it as optional (in settings) for the next version

One thing I have noticed, with .mkv as the input file, the Scan Bitrates button is not selectable. I converted an .mkv (1080p, 57 mins long, 16 bit 5.1 FLAC audio) to DVD-5 AVCHD (with AC3 640kbps audio) and the result was 284mb undersized.

Your post is missing or is my impression?...:eek:
My source is a Blu-ray extracted with AnyDVD HD.
The machine is very stable, do a lot encodes without problems.
I just encode the same episode without resizing and everything went right.
The problem is that resize does tsMuxer that stop working halfway, or maybe some problem with the resizing of the subtitles(bdsup2sub).

Well, now I have more clear where is the problem. As you say it is almost certain that everything is fine until the TsMuxer step. Probably TsMuxer fails only when it has to resize the subtitles (but not always). The resizing does it TsMuxer in the last step, not used BDsup2sub to avoid a extra step and avoid to extract the track.

Maybe it's a tsMuxer bug, but I failed to reproduce it.

If this theory is true a solution would be always resize subs with the BDsup2sub.

I'll do some more testing to see if it fails resizing to 720p with subtitles…

I tried your application last night since I mainly encode for AVCHD 720p with CRF20 using other tools, but I noticed that the final encode had the black bars cropped and that's a problem with my Sony BR player since it will expand the frame to fill the screen. I tried with an MKV 1080p 2.40:1 source and want to know if there's a way to add those bars to a full 16x9 AR, or if I did something wrong on the settings?

By default, the program add black bars on the croped MKV's. You can activate "debug mode" (Options menu) and check out this:

I have not seen anything strange: I was doing tests converting 6 -7 jobs resizing to 720p with subtitles and all were OK in size and content.

I will not change anything if I can not reproduce the bug. I understand that the most conversions to 720 are successful.

I really do not understand, because I use a lot of time RipBot/BDRebuilder which also depend on the TSMuxer and never had problems.
Too bad because I liked its gui but unfortunately I can not use because I normally resize everything to 720p.

I talked nonsense in the post above:eek:, of course not depend on TsMuxer, otherwise I would have the same problem. BD Rebuilder uses its own code and Ripbot use BDSup2Sub.
TsMuxer really has trouble resizing some subtitles.

I think they're just warnings, because I just do the conversion(OCR) this subtitle for text(.srt) without problems.
But I'll check the other titles.

Yes, I confirm that the problem is in subtitles have errors but BDSup2Sub can correct them.

TEST A:

- Mux original subtitle track + 720p video track -> tsMuxer crash

TEST B:

- Export subtitle track with BDSup2Sub (open and save as, no resize).
- Mux exported track (1080p) + 720p video track -> tsMuxer finish OK and resize subs to 720p.

Thanks for your continued efforts with this program. One thing I have noticed since I started backing up with the last few versions is that the BD-R 25GB size is always about 20 MB over the limit that imgburn recommends. This is doing a straight conversion with the audio track being scanned for it's bit rate. When I tried to created a custom size of 23.2GB which is the capacity indicated on the disc, it's always undersizing by around 10%....

I also noticed a bug/limitation. I tried to change the TEMP and AVCHD folders to another drive, if i put the temp as e:\temp and avchd as e:\temp\avchd the program wouldn't work. When i changed both folders to the root of the E: drive they worked fine.

About to test the custom rate of 25400MB size, just under the 25GB limit set in the program and let you know how that goes.

I did try to burn the slightly oversized previous encode, sadly it failed, even though it was only 25mb over :(

UPDATE - After it had joined the MTS files together and extracted the audio successfully using eac3to, the program did not continue with indexing and encoding, it just stopped and deleted the files from the TEMP folder on E: drive.

I have 2 TB free on the drive that i set with e:\temp and e:\avchd

How can i remove all settings from windows? I uninstalled your app and checked the user appdata folder but find no settings their on in the registery.... Just want to start from a fresh install. When i did install bdtoavchd it remembered my custom settings for the file size.

I normally used in d:\temp and e:\avchd to improve speed.
Delete this key > HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\BDtoAVCHD
