n other GUIs encoder that I have used like, staxrip. These steps are not necessary. Just the enter the parameters and it would stick during encoding
Ah, yes. StaxRip basically has only 'Custom' as audio handling option.

Is it possible to have the dependencies updated too?
Whenever you want to update the dependencies tell Hybrid by 'Config->Tools->Clear all cached tool infos'
I know they are a lot that needs to be check from time to time
Which is hey the are not checked each time, but only on new releases (revision changes).
It seems changes are made in the dependencies like, x265 almost daily
Not really, see: https://bitbucket.org/multicoreware/x265/commits/all
Just because folks release new builds doesn't mean anything has changed aside from some different build option. ;)

I normally release a new version when one of the following things occurs:

I'm aware of a change in one of the dependencies that I would call important (+ I was able to adjust Hybrid to it)
I fixed some bug which I deem important + my list of 'bugs to fix' doesn't include any important bugs and I got feedback from all the folks that reported problems whether the problem was fixed
I added some feature that seems really important

something that stops me from releasing a new version is typically:

waiting for feedback regarding bugs
problems building some of the required tools
working on some major bugs
I'm in the middle of some code refactoring/cleanup to keep the code maintainable adding workarounds and quick-fixes during the week require some major clean-up from time to time
simply swamped with real world occurrences

Is it also possible to have 2 updates a month?
short:
Sorry, but my free time doesn't offer that option.
longer:
During the week I have 1-1.5 hrs travel time to work, 8 hrs work, 1-1.5 hrs travel time back home, ~7 hrs sleep that's 17-18hrs a day gone then there is that matter of getting ready for work, shopping for food&co, making food, eating, cleaning the apartment, occasionally meeting friends&co, reading up on stuff (system maintenance etc.). So after answering questions and working on bug fixes *, changes etc. releases and larger adjustments (requiring more testing or coding) are normally planned for the weekend which, like for most working folks is my main relaxing and coding time. Also note that it takes quite some time to build all the tools required for an update. (on windows for example I use https://github.com/jb-alvarado/media-autobuild_suite to build new versions of the tools which sometimes quite takes a while to complete,..)
Don't see me releasing a regular two releases a month unless I win the lottery, change workplace or similar.
=> That's the downside of hobby projects :D.
They usually simply don't pay the bills and if you have an intact social life with real people interaction and time for coding&co is limited.

Cu Selur

* Which both (bug fixes and general user support) can be quite challenging.
Especially if you got google translator in the middle. Especially when Arabic users use it I sometimes spend a few hours just trying to figure out if the folk on the other side of the translation is trying to describe a bug or whether they simply tried to use Hybrid in an (for me) unexpected way.

nlmeanscl2 evolved to knlmeanscl which is why the nlmeanscl2 thread was renamed
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1718490#post1718490 <- there is the last version named NLMeansCL2
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1719416#post1719416 <- here's the first version named KNLMeansCL
I just kept NLMeansCL2 due to the request of a user, don't know if there is still a working download for the NLMeansCL2 download somewhere.

Thanks!

You may want to take a look at fluxsmooth. Cleans the video well with minimal degradation on the image itself. Most importantly - it's fast

I could add an option to specify the 'Cores' value of Interfame. Still 27 seems a rather high value.

1. I have been toying around the test built with "Core" parameter. Is there really any difference if I just use Avisynth -> Misc ->"MT Thread" setting? Right now I don't see any difference. Maybe the right combination of "Core" and MT Threads" must be right? Would you suggest some value? I have a 28 threads Xeon Processor. Maybe the right amount of memory setting?

2. Can you recommend an optimum memory setting for the ff filters:

f3dk - > Undot -> VagueDenoiser -> Interframe

Sorry, no clue. Due to my experience on high core count systems avisynth simply sucks in regard of cpu core count vs speed scaling. Vapoursynth seems to scale better, but is way slower.

Why is it that qaac -> low complexity can only resample up to 48khz? Is this a limitation of qaac?

Selur

You can see the supported formats<>sample rate<>bit rate qaac supports by calling:
qaac.exe --formats
which gives you:

Selur,

The latest x265 has new switches:

--qpmin <integer> sets a hard lower limit on QP allowed to ratecontrol. Default 0
--qpmax <integer> sets a hard upper limit on QP allowed to ratecontrol. Default 69
...
--log2-max-poc-lsb <integer> Maximum of the picture order count
--[no-]sei-dump Emit SEI packets in bitstream. Default enabled

--log2-max-poc-lsb <integer> Maximum of the picture order count
--[no-]sei-dump Emit SEI packets in bitstream. Default enabled
-> don't seem really interesting. Any inside how these could help with encoding?

--qpmin <integer> sets a hard lower limit on QP allowed to ratecontrol. Default 0
--qpmax <integer> sets a hard upper limit on QP allowed to ratecontrol. Default 69
'x265->Quantization->General Quantization->Quantizer (min/max)' (wrote code for that a while ago, but it's not in the current released version)

will look at it once the attachment is approved, which might take a while,... (so don't blame me if I forgot about it until then)
In case the encoding command line is as it should, the only way to fix it is to report it to the webm-team and probably wait 1/2 year till they look into it.

Selur

I probably fixed that a few days ago,.. (see: http://forum.selur.de/topic1287-avisynth-preview-error.html)
-> will be fixed in the next release (avisynth filter preview didn't behave properly when handling 10bit input; normal avisynth preview should work)
Might look at the debug output in case it gets approved before I forget about it.

Is there a way to control the smoothing I-frames for VP9? Starting frames at the test got very smeared (high bitrate does not help).

Strange, @Selur not posted the latest release on the topic, has this changelog:

rev 2016.08.27.1:
*fixed*
avisynth: srt subtitle styling
avisynth: dither mod4
input: ffmpeg timecode extraction
subtitle: tagging subtitle streams which get converted form sup->idx/sub
nvenc: ui glitch with cabac
some unicode file handling
decoder: mencoder->ffmpeg yuv444 handling
preview: color handling during filter preview and yuv444 content
*changed*
some file size checks during subtitle extraction
avisynth: filters updated
prores: interlaced signaling
cuda: 1060&1080 cards should be supported
*added*
avisynth: support save settings for each filter
nvenc: set target size (note: this is just an estimation, target size can still differ a lot since nvenc doesn't have 2pass encoding)
nvenc: support 10bit and lookahead feature
subtitle: 'add to all' option
x265: added support for --log2-max-poc-lsb, --discard-sei,--qpmin, --qpm

Great, looking forward to it, especially on linux, where nothing comparable exists

One of the road bumps atm. is that mplayer, mencoder don't support vpy scripts as input thus there's no av-preview. In my current dev versions I use a modified Vapoursynth Editor version (https://github.com/Selur/vapoursynth-editor) which adds IPC support that is needed to control the editor via Hybrid to use it for preview.

Hmm..I dunno why but I never seem to make preview working. I've been ripping a dvd and I couldn't make preview work at all. I was getting just a blank screen. Are there any settings I can try changing specifically for preview\cropping preview?

PS Where can I set(and see) acceptable aspect rario error?

Selur

Hybrid doesn't calculate the aspect ratio error.

I've changed it to directx and it fixed it! Thanx a lot ;)

Hybrid doesn't calculate the aspect ratio error.

How am I supposed to check it? It is kinda hard for me to determine whether the image gets stretched or not yet another person spots it the moment he sees it. That's why I always checked in megui so that AR error wasn't higher than 1% to be on the safe side.

PS Oh and is there something like meguis suggested resolution that changes depending on your height and mod?

I new milestone has been released for x265

Selur
7th October 2016, 10:32
@Vesdaris: Hybrid will not hint at any aspect ratio error since I think it's silly. You specify a width or height and a modulo and Hybrid will select the other height/width to match both as good as possible. Hybrid will not start to suggest resolutions based on some wild guess work.
@MagikMark: only thing that isn't supported atm is ' --limit-TU' iirc. -> so no hurry :)

AVS preview does not give information about the frames I-P-B for x264/x265-10bit.

Selur

That should depend on the input filter used.

Also experiencing the problem with decoding > hotfuzz.vc1 (https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BzeF_1syecQwakhsX3RuZGhWcjA) (before playing it is desirable to pack the file through mkvtoolnix to .mkv).
AVS preview and the output is the result of a dirty after encoding.

Selur
27th November 2016, 17:55
Decoding you vc1 file with:
- DGDecNV, I have no problem and all frame types are shown
- using LibavSource decoding is fine, but no frame types are shown
- using FFVideoSource decoding is fine, but no frame types are shown (signals always I frame)
- FRIM doesn't work
=> whether Hybrid can show the frame type depends on the 'info'-option of the decoder used. Nothing I can do about it.

Ps.: Merry Christmas to you all!
For those that want to try the experimental Vapoursynth support on:
- Windows 64bit: download the Addon-File from the download page and extract it into your Hybrid folder
- Linux: use the repository, add the Hybrid Vapoursynth packages and add vapoursynth="true" to your misc.ini file.
(no Vapoursynth for 32bit Windows or Mac atm.)

General goals for the next release are:
a. further Vapoursynth stuff
b. updating VP9 encoding (just noticed that vp9 got some new features Hybrid doesn't support atm. :))

PPs.: This and future version will probably not work under Windows XP, since latest ffmpeg, mencoder, mplayer,.. do not support it.
Hybrid itself should still work.

Selur

Previously Hybrid let me use my GTX 670MX to convert videos to my notebook. Are you no longer compatible?

Selur
26th December 2016, 10:41
The "GeForce GTX 670MX" should still be detected as compatible card for nvenc, it that is not the case for you, what does the Hybrid log mention. My guess is for some reason the name inside the registry changed.
-> need details.

Havokdan
26th December 2016, 12:06
Well, it just only detects my Intel HD 4000 (Quick sync), it is not that version only, it has not detected since the last version, I use a Clevo P151 notebook, with Intel HD 4000 and Nvidia GTX 670MX. Older versions still work, much like StaxRip works, but the Hybrid does not, nor does it appear for selection.

Hybrid checks the registry 'Device Description' entries under "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Video" to find the video cards available.
My guess is that for some reason your NVIDIA card isn't listed there or it is, but under a name that Hybrid doesn't recognize.
-> What entries are there on your system?

Havokdan
26th December 2016, 12:18
It has 3 entries. All Intel HD 4000. Maybe reinstall nvidia driver help me.
Well, I removed all the intel and nvidia drivers I had installed and with the native Windows 10 drivers, the Nvenc option reappeared.

You are right! My misc.ini setting are as ff:

fontSize=15
toolTipFontSize=15

However, I don't have this problem in previous version. Is there another way to enlarge the window of hybrid? I have 60" panel and the default window size is really small. It's really hard to see
