So, for you, a real 16/9 DAR (1024,576) is not compliant with AVCHD and/or Blu-ray ?
Has nothing to do with me, there are standards and the DVD, AVCHD and Blu-ray standards differ.

Where did you see this ?
from the tool-tip of the hardware restriction:
1. Blu-ray restrictions see: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=154533
2. AVCHD restrictions see: http://www.avchd-info.org/format/index.html
3. DXVA restrictions see: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=972503, Hyrid allows all mod16 resolutions not just the few mentioned

Why should my videos be deformed when encoded in x264 while a 64/45 PAR for 720.576 is ok in mpeg-2 on dvd ?
because there are different standards and if you are compliant to one standard it does not mean you are compliant to the next one

Ok, but why should the DAR differ from a media to another ? 16/9 is 16/9, whatever the codec used. And to get 1,777 (16/9) from 720.576, there is only one good PAR : 64/45, that's mathematical.

AVCHD restrictions see: http://www.avchd-info.org/format/index.html
There is nothing about PAR.

Blu-ray restrictions see: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=154533
16/11 and 12/11 for 720*576 are very strange PAR, not sure it applies to all sources. And I continue to doubt because, as shon3i wrote ;
it's based on original Blu-Ray specification, which are not available in public.
I'd like to be sure his post is complete.
If it is, I wonder why Blu-ray inventors changed the PAR for SD resolutions compared to dvd while the video sources can be the same on both supports.

Anyway, if I make an AVCHD, MKV will be converted in m2ts by TSMuxer, thus I should verify what TSMuxer does.

Selur

Sorry, but it's a moot point of discussion.
As far as I know the specifications are they are and they require a MPEG-4 PAR for MPEG-4 AVC content.

I'd like to be sure it's complete.
Specification is complete for some time and from what I know that point never changed.

If it is, I wonder why Blu-ray inventors changed the PAR for SD resolutions compared to dvd while the video sources can be the same on both supports.
MPEG-2 isn't MPEG-4, it should be standard compliant to put DVD content onto a Blu-ray.
Converting the MPEG-2 content to MPEG-4 and putting it on a Blu-ray requires the MPEG-4 content to have a MPEG-4 compliant PAR.
-> Can't tell you why the standard committees decided they way they did, but Hybrid will enforce (or try to enforce) standard compliance if it was told to do so by enabling "x264->Main->Restriction Settings->Hardware".

=> It's not a bug in Hybrid that it behaves the way it does and I can't help you change the standards.
For me atm. it's like you asking me why the MPEG-4 AVC level restrictions are the way they are and why Hybrid would enforce them if it was told to do so.
So sadly I can't help you since I don't see a problem I can help you more then I did, by trying to explain how thinks are from what I know.

Anyway, if I make an AVCHD, MKV will be converted in m2ts by TSMuxer, thus I should verify what TSMuxer does.
tsMuxeR doesn't care about either the Blu-ray or AVCHD standard when creating a m2ts file, it doesn't do any vbv, resolution or other checks as far as I know.

Don't worry, I understood with your previous post why Hybrid worked like this and I thank you for your explanations.

Specification is complete for some time and from what I know that point never changed.
Of course but I was talking about shon3i's post, not about the norm.

the specifications are they are and they require a MPEG-4 PAR for MPEG-4 AVC content.

(...)

Converting the MPEG-2 content to MPEG-4 and putting it on a Blu-ray requires the MPEG-4 content to have a MPEG-4 compliant PAR.
In this case, how to know that anamorphic 16/9 will be correctly displayed in 16/9 ?

tsMuxeR doesn't care about either the Blu-ray or AVCHD standard when creating a m2ts file, it doesn't do any vbv, resolution or other checks as far as I know.
Actually I meant using TSMuxer with multiAVCHD, which creates standard files or warn if a video is not AVCHD (or Blu-ray) compliant. And when using TSMuxer alone to create an AVCHD folder, it's maybe more exigent than when simply multiplexing in ts or m2ts.
My standalone players never refused projects made with multiAVCHD (except when I made authoring errors), so I guess the PAR are ok.
But that was before using Hybrid ; I encoded with MeGui (IIRC, the format was mp4) and I put it in TS with TSMuxer in which I specified the DAR (4/3 or 16/9).

I'm afraid the preview might not allow to make easily the difference between 1,777 and 1,817.
But I will make tests to see what happens on my TV screen.

Hi,
Hybrid rev 2014.03.21.1 failed to encode the sound in ac3, the whole process stopped and the picture was not encoded either. No problem if I select ignore instead of custom for the sound.
My source is an avs script which looks like this ;
A = FFAudioSource("G:\video.mpg")
V = FFVideoSource("G:\video.mpg")
AudioDub(V, A)
assumetff()
trim(0,0)
The sound is in mp2 but for Hybrid it's wave. Does Hybrid need a real audio file that can be demuxed ?
Anyway, the wave can be demuxed from an avs file (by Virtual Dub).

Selur
5th April 2014, 14:11
a. not sure what Avisynth version will be used to open the file (the one from Hybrid or the one or your system)
b. since the script is only one frame long, Hybrid will probalby ignore it
c. won't try to reproduce since you didn't use the latest (2014.04.04.1) version

Music Fan

a. not sure what Avisynth version will be used to open the file (the one from Hybrid or the one or your system)
I don't know how Hybrid works with input files but I guess the version used is the one of my system (2.6 alpha 4).
When I open this script in Virtual Dub, there is sound and I can extract it (file, save wav).

b. since the script is only one frame long, Hybrid will probalby ignore it
It's not one frame long, it lasts 1m25s.
trim(0,0) does not keep only frame 0, it allows to have exactly the same length for audio & video without effect on video by cutting the sound when it's longer than video or adding a blank part at the end when it's shorter than video.

c. won't try to reproduce since you didn't use the latest (2014.04.04.1) version
If you didn't change anything about avs input in Hybrid, I guess the problem will be the same on the last version.

By the way, I made an AVCHD with multiAVCHD using two MKV encoded by Hybrid, both in anamorphic 16/9 in 720*576 : one with PAR 64/45, the other with PAR 16/11. Both were accepted without re-encoding and both mts are detected as 16/9 by MediaInfo.
My two players display both files the same way (exactly same DAR), thus I guess these 2 PAR are not that important for multiAVCHD which consider these files have 16/9 DAR. I guess the behavior is the same with 4/3 (choice between PAR 16/15 and 12/11).

It does (just tried with rev2014.04.04.1). The crash happens with ffmpeg but the first step seems to work (the extraction with mplayer), that's what I see in the jobs window.

Very strange, I believed I had found the solution but now there is another problem.
There was no more sound problem when I erased the ffindex file and created it again (by opening the script in Virtual Dub), but now the crash happens during the remux with MKVMerge, here is the debug file ;
http://pastebin.com/0XdHRTej

Selur

My guess is that mkvmerge doesn't like the wav file which was extracted using:
"C:\PROGRA~1\Hybrid\mplayer.exe" -msglevel statusline=5:all=0 -mc 0 -vc dummy -nocorrect-pts -noconsolecontrols -nocorrect-pts -vc null -vo null -nocache -hardframedrop -aid 0 "G:\G Emissions\11 09 06 GJ 3 BàQ Dati Judor Bellucci.avs" -vo null -ao pcm:fast:waveheader:file=""""H:\iId_2_aid_0_17_16_32_1210_01.wav""""
here's the mkvmerge call:
"C:\PROGRA~1\Hybrid\mkvmerge.exe" --ui-language en -o "P:\bell4.mkv" --global-tags "H:\bell4_17_16_32_1210__09.xml" -d 0 --default-track 0:yes --default-duration 0:50i --aspect-ratio-factor 0:16/11 --fourcc 0:MP4V --chapter-charset UTF-8 --chapters "H:\17_16_32_1210__10.chp" --compression -1:none --forced-track 0:yes --no-audio --no-subtitles "H:\bell4_17_16_32_1210_05.264" --default-track 0:yes --forced-track 0:no -a 0 --compression -1:none --no-video --no-subtitles --no-chapters "H:\iId_2_aid_0_17_16_32_1210_01.wav"
if you call it inside a windows command prompt, does mkvmerge show any errors?

Music Fan
6th April 2014, 17:36
Yes : "the file H:\iId_2_aid_0_17_16_32_1210_01.wav could not be opened for reading : open file error".
But I don't see the original mpg file in this call and I guess the wav file is needed while it's not there anymore because it was a temporary file created and erased by Hybrid.
And bell4.mkv does not exist either.

Selur
6th April 2014, 17:47
And bell4.mkv does not exist either.
muxing aborted, so mkvmerge didn't create any output

But I don't see the original mpg file in this call
No, how should it end up there?
a. the input you gave Hybrid was an .avs file
b. Hybrid always extracts audio&video before muxing

the wav file is needed while it's not there anymore because it was a temporary file created and erased by Hybrid.
according to the log Hybrid didn't delete it

Music Fan
6th April 2014, 20:35
Actually the temp files are still there except this wave !
But the ac3 file encoded by Hybrid is there thus I guess the wav used to create it existed, at least during a few seconds.
By the way, why does MKVMerge need this wave while only the ac3 should be used for the final mkv ?

Selur
6th April 2014, 21:03
Totally can't follow you.
The script that you feed to Hybrid does not output an .ac3 file. Avisynth always outputs uncompressed wav.
-> if you want Hybrid to passthrough the audio and use the .ac3 stream from the source, feed it with the original source not an avisynth script,...

Music Fan
6th April 2014, 21:13
I believe you didn't read carefully what I wrote and the debug file : I want to encode the wav audio from the avs file in ac3, and Hybrid does it correctly, I still have the iId_4_aid_0_17_03_46_2910_02.ac3 file in the temp folder ! There is no reason to put the wav in the mkv, I just want the ac3 (and the video of course) created by Hybrid !
The audio source is not ac3, it's mp2 (decompressed in wav by avisynth), otherwise I would keep it of course.

Selur
6th April 2014, 21:41
Then post a debug output which shows Hybrid trying to mux the wrong thing. The debug output you posted did only contains a passthrough audio call.

Music Fan
6th April 2014, 21:56

I posted the complete debug file, you should see that I checked the ac3 encoding, otherwise I wouldn't have this ac3 file in the temp folder.

Music Fan
6th April 2014, 22:13
I made the test again, now there is again the ac3 problem
video is set on x264, audio on custom. In the audio tab, I checked reencode, encoding, ac3 @ 224 k.
Here is the debug output ;

Music Fan

Other test with audio set on passthrough all, but with same settings than above in the audio tab (reencode in ac3) and same crash at the end ;
http://pastebin.com/G0CAarmY
But this time I did something I didn't do before : in the audio tab, I removed the first job (added automatically when sound is set on passthrough) and I clicked on add current, which gives probably the same result than when audio is set on custom (keeps only the ac3).
I forgot to do this for the test I made for the first debug output I posted and I probably didn't see that sound was set on passthrough because audio encoding was still available.

Why is the audio encoding still available when sound is set on passthrough ? That's confusing.

Music Fan
6th April 2014, 23:03
To be complete, the last case : audio set on passthrough and audio reencode NOT checked. It's like with my first debug output : no audio encoding problem (logical as it is in passthrough) but muxing problem ;
http://pastebin.com/DqDiiDay
In the first case, I had checked reencode but as I forgot to add the audio job, I guess it's like if I hadn't checked reencode.
Thus I have 2 different problems (but probably linked) : ac3 encoding and mkv muxing.
And I recall that in all cases, the source is the same avs script.

Selur
6th April 2014, 23:13
I made the test again, now there is again the ac3 problem
Okay, I think I see the problem there, MPlayer can't handle the name of you .avs file. :)
"C:\PROGRA~1\Hybrid\mplayer.exe" -msglevel statusline=5:all=0 -mc 0 -vc dummy -nocorrect-pts -noconsolecontrols -nocorrect-pts -vc null -vo null -nocache -hardframedrop -aid 0 "G:\G Emissions\11 09 06 GJ 3 BàQ Dati Judor Bellucci.avs" -vo null -ao pcm:fast:waveheader:file=""""H:\iId_1_aid_0_23_07_49_5610_01.wav""""
should produce some error

Other test with audio set on passthrough all, but with same settings than above in the audio tab (reencode in ac3) and same crash at the end
"passthrough all" -> settings in the audio tab don't matter :)
Problem is the same mplayer can't handle the input file name. :)

-> I might be able to write a workaround for it.

Not necessarily. Compiling both MPlayer and x264 is a fairly easy job. Just make sure to use --disable-vdpau when configuring MPlayer and make sure you have yasm installed when compiling x264

(I mention --disable-vdpau because I don't know how Hybrid works. If you try to encode directly with MEncoder which has vdpau enabled, it will error out as it doesn't support it)

Here's what's essential and what not (not sure if I did miss anything):
ffmpeg, mplayer, mediainfo, mkvinfo and sox to analyse normal file input (all essential)
lsdvd is needed for dvd input (essential)
mkvmerge is needed for mkv cutting and muxing (essential for mkv output)
mkvextract is needed to extract timecodes and streams in general from mkv input (essential for mkv handling in general)
delaycut is needed to fix audio streams and fix their delay (essential)
tsMuxeR is needed to handle transportstreams (not essential if an up-to-date ffmpeg version with libbluray is used)
NeroAacEnc is needed for aac audio encoding (not essential)
oggenc is needed for vorbis audio encoding (not essential)
aften is needed for ac3 audio encoding (not essential)
frameCounter is needed for raw video input (essential)
FLVExtractCL is needed for flv input (essential)
MP4Box is needed for mp4 handling (essential)
dcaenc is needed for dts encoding (not essential)
mp4fpsmod is needed for mp4 timecode handling (essential)
telxcc is needed for teletext subtitle handling (not essential)
vpxenc is needed for vp8/vp9 video encoding (not essential)
mencoder is needed for audio handling and xvid encoding (essential)
flac is needed for flac audio encoding (not essential)
x265 is needed for HEVC video encoding (not essential)
Kvazaar is needed for HEVC video encoding (not essential)
x264 is needed for AVC video encoding (not essential)
Qt runtime 4.6 or newer (essential)

selur, how can i compile mplayer with bluray support? because my compiled Mplayer doesn't include bluray option...

install the development package of libbluray (usually called libbluray-devel or libbluray-dev) and recompile MPlayer again

you don't necessarily need libbluray in either mplayer/mencoder or ffmpeg, it just offers Hybrid more possibilities.
libbluray support only is helpful if you want to feed Hybrid with a Blu-ray as input
no clue, it's ages since I last compiled mplayer/mencoder with libbluray support on a linux system (and I can't get it working on Mac OS X)
I guess a normal search engine like Google&Co should produce some guides on how to compile mplayer/mencoder with the usual dependencies

The problem with the call above:
"home/norvin/mplayer" -v br:// -blu-ray-device Testing
wasn't that mplayer/mencoder wasn't compiled with libbluray, the problem was that the call didn't produce an output (more precise: didn't start) after 5 seconds!

you said that your software was worked in ubuntu, right?
is it possible to share it to me?;)

Yes, Hybrid does work on Ubuntu. The version for 64bit Ubuntu 13.10 would be the normal "Hybrid Linux64bit"-download.
Sharing binaries like mplayer&co isn't that easy on Linux since most tools can't really be compiled totally static, so they will only work with a specific distribution.

Most of the tools required should be available through the normal:
sudo apt-get install nameoftool
and some really need to be compiled on manually. (see: http://forum.selur.de/topic124-info-hybriddependencies-for-ubuntu.html)

is it possible to share it to me?
Not really:
a. some tools wouldn't work
b. some tools are not freely distributable in binary form
