Hello, thanks for the program updates.
I've found myself thinking about the problem that the Number of Scanned Frames in the Autocrop is passing the limit set. I've put 20 but the scan goes passing 20 upto 120 frames and still counting.
What are the possible reasons for this mate?

Selur
1st June 2012, 08:57
your source is probably a mpls file which links to multiple m2ts files, to make sure all these are scanned properly Hybrid will enforce a limit of min fps of frames (so probably 24 for you) per file,... I got some code to change the behavior, but haven't had the time to test it at all,.. will send you a test version in a few minutes. ;)

atm, there's no real limit, all the Blu-rays I own do not have more than 4 m2ts files linked in a mpls so this never made a huge priority on my ToDo list. :)

Hybrid rev. 2012.06.02.1

*fixed*

subtitle: 'Add' did not add elements to queue (when not used through automation routine)
subtitle: subtitles sometimes were created a wrong location
extraction: (mac only) exchanged mkvtoolnix with a newer version (still 5.5.0), which already includes the .264 extraction fix

*added*

avisynth: added STPresso
muxing: option to add (multiple) audio, subtitle streams and chapters in an iTunes compatible way

*changed*

autocrop: tweaked autocrop for mpls/m2ts files

Easy put sub in to video(hardsubing)
What it complicated the way it is atm? You select a subtitle, enable 'Embed subtitle in frame', (adjust the placing etc if you want), add the subtitle to the subtitle queue.
(Enabling: Config->Automation->Passthrough->Subtitle and Config->Automation->Passthrough->Subtitle->embed first does it automatically for you)

Better interface for batch encoding!
What would be better? What is the current interface lacking?

Please be more precise with request, otherwise I will probably simply ignore them.
Also consider that new features should not interfere with old features, i.e. I won't make a major GUI overhaul for batch processing it that will complicate the normal processing,...

The current interface is not very intuitive for batch conversion of files, there could be a window or tab with a list of files to convert and have the option of a profile for each conversion, or something.

This would collide with the main ways Hybrid is working atm. so I'll probably not add/change it. I'll note it down for when I do the next major overhaul of the GUI, so not all hope is lost but I doubt it will come any time soon.

Hi Selur, I came up with a new feature Idea. I don't know if it's currently there within the settings but I didn't find it. I extract like 20 .pgs subtitle files from a bluray sometimes.
Then, when extracting all the subtitles, I have to wait around 2 hours for the Extraction. Why not add an option to add the Extraction to the Queue?

This feature is ideal for Hybrid because of the following points :
1. When encoding a video from a full BD Disc, I'll have to wait for like 2 hours or more for the Extraction Completion.
If hybrid has the Subtitle Extraction Queue, it will be easy.
2. Sometimes I have to encode 2-3 BD's by using the Queue. At those times, extracting subs and waiting for that takes away a lot of time.
3. It will be very easy if there's some "CheckBox" to tick and then click Add to Queue makes the extraction added to the queue as an individual job.

Thanks

Selur
16th June 2012, 07:40
Why not add an option to add the Extraction to the Queue?
Config -> Automation -> Passthrough -> Subtitle will automatically extract and add all the subtitles

but you will still have to wait for it to finish, since Hybrid adjusts the file predictions to with the size of the subtitles,...
Since I personally don't use subtitles at all or normally extract them, then run them through BDSup2Sub or other tools to get text subtitle I never had to wait so long. :)
Assuming tsMuxeR allows the extraction of multiple subtitles at the same time I might be able to speed up the whole process by not calling tsMuxeR per Subtitle but calling it one to extract all the subtitles.
Will try to look at it in the next days, I'm really busy due to normal work&co so don't hold your breath, I should have more time next month, but like I wrote, I'll try to look at it the next days,..

Hi Selur,
here is a suggestion : allow to cut some parts of a video and export the extracts in 1 file, without re-encoding, or only the cut GOP (smart rendering), especially with AVC (h264).
I know that Hybrid is an encoder and not an editor, but this function is very rare and doesn't work correctly on programs supposed to do this.
SolveigMM AVI Trimmer + MKV (a free tool) can do this with progressive AVC but not with interlaced AVC.
I also tried SolveigMM Video Splitter, which is not free, and it works with interlaced AVC (in TS container), but not well, it creates some problems on modified GOP.

The program which will succeed in making it correctly will have a lot of success !

If smart rendering is too complicated to program, the cutting of interlaced AVC on keyframes would already be great.;)

Selur
16th June 2012, 16:04
Hybrid already has some basic cut support. :) (I even fixed the cutting of time codes a while back, but didn't release a new version since I wanted to wait for a new MediaInfo version)
I also wrote a small demo application (http://goo.gl/cwyAa) some time back which could do video-only cutting, which didn't get much feedback, so I didn't pursue it back than.
-> In general cutting with mkvmerge should work fine,.. (at least last time I used the --split Option it worked fine) and a smart rendering option is more a thing for a separate application,... (don't think I'll write one anytime soon, it's fairly easy, but a lot of work, especially if you want a crossplattform solution)

I didn't know, I usually use it only to add chapters to mkv.

What do you mean ?

Cool, I'm gonna try this. It would be great to be able to open TS too.

In general cutting with mkvmerge should work fine,.. (at least last time I used the --split Option it worked fine)
It has no preview and one can't cut several parts and merge them at the same time.

a smart rendering option is more a thing for a separate application,... (don't think I'll write one anytime soon, it's fairly easy, but a lot of work, especially if you want a crossplattform solution)
No problem, I can wait ... at least 1 week.:D
Do you know why so many softwares fail to do it correctly if it's easy to program ?

I tried MKCutter, there is a problem : after file analysis, nothing happens.
I tried with 2 MKV and no one of them has header compressed (which is sometimes problematic).

What do you mean ?
I just wanted to mention, that it is not a dead feature and I try to improve and fix it from time to time.

It would be great to be able to open TS too.
it does not and probably never will,.. because:
a. Transport stream containers (ts/m2ts/mts) are the worthed containers I have ever seen
b. I don't think I will write an application for cutting

Do you know why so many softwares fail to do it correctly if it's easy to program ?
it getting really hard as soon as your input is broken and you have to formats that are not well documented,..
if hdd space is not a problem one could simply write an application that:
0. analyses the input with mediainfo
1. remux the content to mkv using mkvmerge
2. write a small interface that
a. use avisynth&ffmpegsource to preview the content (ffmpegsource allows to see the frame number & type)
b. allows to set cut points
c. generates mkvmerge split calls for the cutpoints
3. reencode parts of the output of 2.c. if frame accurate encoding is needed (here it's a bit tricky since one has to match the settings during encoding to the input file)
4. merge the files that should be merged
5. clean up
6. remux to transport stream if the output needs to be a transport stream

I tried with 2 MKV and no one of them has header compressed (which is sometimes problematic).
If this would have happened 4 month ago I would have probably looked into it, but since I don't have the motivation for it nor will I probably have the time to write a new application and maintain it (next to Hybrid and my normal work) for the next 12 month, that probably is as far as it gets. ;)

I guess that MKVCutter is already supposed to do that (except for the TS remux).

I'm not sure I will ever look at anything regarding mkvcutter again. :)

Ok, but i meant : "what is the cutting of time codes"
when mkv/mp4 files get cut that contain time codes these time codes need to be modified as well, which Hybrid didn't do.

I guess that MKVCutter is already supposed to do that (except for the TS remux).
partially, it allowed to cut, but only 'video only', all non video streams were discarded,.. it was mainly a small test how hard it would be, after realizing that it wouldn't be really hard to write a small application (get's a lot more tricky if it needs to be cross-plattform, which is why I didn't merge it into Hybrid) that could do frame accurate cutting of mkv files and not getting any feedback I dropped the project.

Ok, thus I hope I will find a software able to cut MKV and/or TS correctly, which doesn't seem to exist right now. As many people are searching for that (I see that on forums), there's a niche to take.

all non video streams were discarded
If one can't keep the sound, it's not useful.

not getting any feedback I dropped the project
If you had talked to us here about this project, I'm sure some Hybrid users would have tested it, including me.
You should maybe wait that it becomes to be known, it takes some time.
Anyway, if you don't have time, I understand that you abandon it.

hello, I think there is a problem with converting audio in avi DV (the format with audio interleaved with video), in the extraction stage
- the line is "C:\8_Soft\Multimedia\#Video\Hybrid\ffmpeg.exe" -y -threads 2 -i "D:\__\capture0000.avi" -vn -ar 48000 -acodec pcm_s16le -f mov "D:\__\capture0000 DELAY -33ms__aid_0__22_11_22_021_01.mov"
- when -vn is present there is no output (in fact it autputs a 8k file and crashes)
- if I remove the -vn switch, all works well

Selur
18th June 2012, 20:32
that's strange, -vn should just disable the video which should not cause any problem for pcm output,..
1. Which flavor of Hybrid are you using? (Win 32k/2/64)
2. Can you upload a small sample somewhere and send me a link?
If I can reproduce the problem here, I'll fix it and send you and adjusted version tomorrow.

Maybe it has something to do with the size of the file - 12GB?

Selur
19th June 2012, 07:05
Stream #0:0 -> #0:0 (dvvideo -> libx264)
-> this will reencode the video to H.264 using x264, which will:
a. take more space than the pcm stream itself
b. slow down extraction quite a bit, due to the reencoding of the video stream
c. probably cause problems later on in Hybrid since the audio stream is not the first stream in the container
=> leaving -vn out is a bad idea
try if it helps if you use another ffmpeg version (older and newer), from http://ffmpeg.zeranoe.com/builds/

Ps.: side note: if you try to run NeroAacEnc on a 64bit ubuntuu system make sure you install:
sudo apt-get install lib32stdc++6
since NeroAacEnc seems to depend on it,..

since '/home/test/disco2 DELAY -53ms_und_aid_160__21_26_40_471_01.wav' was created and ahas a size of 1871.55 MB, the question is what happens if you call:
a.
"/usr/local/bin/ffmpeg" -y -threads 4 -v -10 -i "/home/test/Title_1_1-45 DELAY -53ms_und_aid_160__21_18_03_301_02.wav" -ac 2 -acodec pcm_s16le -f wav - | "/usr/bin/neroAacEnc" -br 128000 -ignorelength -if - -of "/home/test/Title_1_1-45_und_aid_160__21_18_03_301_05.aac"
and b.
"/usr/local/bin/ffmpeg" -y -threads 4 -i "/home/test/Title_1_1-45 DELAY -53ms_und_aid_160__21_18_03_301_02.wav" -ac 2 -acodec pcm_s16le -f wav /dev/null
the output of these should hopefully provide some additional infos

Hello Selur,
all the things are running perfect and I am happy with the performance and features of Hybrid.
While encoding, I came of a small problem and I want to clear it out.

This is a screencap of the encoding box and what's with the Time Remaining aka Rest-time?
