Thx Selur!
I just gonna finish my current encoding activities (by the way thx for the great tool :-) then purge all hybrid settings and check again.
Edited: I purged settings and high4:4:4 value went out. So the bug sneaked up during update to recent versions.
I suppose somehow Hydrid doesn't delete old setting during update.

I'm playing around with the idea of adding Avisynth file creation (using ffmpegsource2 and Directshowsource, later for vc1- interlaced only) and some filters to Hybrid. (windows only)
Since I personally haven't really used Avisynth a lot these last years (only use it from time to time for deinterlacing if yadif produces bad output) I was wondering:
What Avisynth filters do people miss in Avisynth?
Personally I only miss QTGMC, but implementing some basic script creating&co just for me and my QTGMC usage would be overkill.
-> some feedback would be nice :)

I`ll give this 1 and another GUI a try,
Does this use Nero AAC+ ? as far as i know thats the latest, i usually use HDConvertox `just for audio` then MUX it all together....
as Vidcoder`s AAC isnt as good.
cheers.

in Hybrid you can choose between:
- NeroAacEnc which supports aac, aac-he and he-aacv2
- Qaac which supports aac, aac-he and he-aacv2
and
- libaac which supports aac-lc
(assuming you downloaded NeroAacEnc and extracted it into the Hybrid installation folder)

Qaac ?, is that covered in the Nero AacEncoder....never heard of that 1, newest Nero aac format ?
Selur

There is no such thing as a 'Nero aac format' there's only a nero aac encoder -> http://www.nero.com/eng/downloads-nerodigital-nero-aac-codec.php
Qaac -> http://sites.google.com/site/qaacpage/ (needs Apple Application Support installed which comes with Quicktime/iTunes/Safari)

Hi, i havent had much chance to try it much, the basic x264 works ok. But whenever i set my own test profile for CUDA, its all applied etc, but i get a video conversion crash (something to do with ` no interlaced encoding support on main profile `) despite it not being selected in the profile being used....
confused.
Thanks.
Also on when using the CUDA prest default or custom, i can `add to queue`, but then the `start job` button does nothing.....

if that is not a debug output, I can't do anything with it.
Just tested it and over here the cuda encoder works without a problem.
(I assume you are aware that you need a cuda capable NVIDA card to use the cuda encoder,..)

i just got the web installer when i got this, it installed as 64bit application, are there any issues with 64bit that you know of??
(as sometime 64bit is a bit hit n miss).
also i noticed when i tried to set a default output DIR + working folder, as soon as i exit the app, and restrart Hybrid, it doesnt retain the paths.... something doesnt seem right...

sure it does not remember you settings, since you did not tell it to do so. If you want Hybrid to remember you settings in the Config-tag, save them as defaults:
Config->Save->select GlobalModel, hit 'Selected'

Nope, Hybrid is mainly developed on 64bit Win7 so I do most of my test on 64bit.

I'm having a problem re-encoding the audio mp3 stream to aac. I have neroaacenc in the \Hybrid folder but all I am allowed to do is passthru the audio. The video converts just fine to x264 in 1 pass and 2 pass, I just am not able to convert the audio. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

@Chairman_Meow: to encode mp3 -> aac
you have to:
1. set Main->Audio handling to custom
2. enable Audio->Reencode audio stream
3. configure the setting you want
4. hit Audio-> '+' for your selection to be added to the audio queue
-> no clue what you are doing

Hybrid does not use DirectShowFilters or eac3to,.. here (http://www.selur.de/licence) is the list of tools Hybrid uses. (no eac3to no ffdshow)
2ch->PLII should be possible with sox, so if you find out how to do it with sox I can add the appropriate remix call and an option to use it to Hybrid.
DJ-1
16th February 2012, 16:09
erm ok, just had a look, i see the Sox.exe in the config->tools area, but after adding a source, i looked at the audio tab, lots of other places, but can`t see where to select `use-of` sox as a decoder... let alone see how its set up.
P.S: ah ok, just re-read ur post, (half asleep, LOL) assuming at the moment its non-visible within the GUI, a few selectable presets would be great...
:)
Selur
16th February 2012, 16:16
you have to use sox through the command line if you want to use something that is not offered by Hybrid atm.
Hybrid will automatically use sox whenever it needs to:
1. resample the sample rate of an audio stream
2. apply volume gain to an audio stream
3. stretch an audio stream
4. change the speed of an audio stream
5. normalize an audio stream
if you figure out the remix call needed for the conversion you want I can add it to Hybrid, http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=152034 and http://sox.sourceforge.net/sox.html might help you to understand how sow and it's remix parameter work.

mean Channel X and Y are mixed and the volume of level X is multiplied by 0.zzzz and the volume of channel Y is multiplied by 0.wwww before the mixing.

ok, cheers for the fixed version. I just ran a quick test, the CUDA side is now running without issue, cheers.
As for the other audio stuff, I`m sort of understanding bit of it, but its all based off of downmixing, what I want is the opposite (just a nice 2CH to `center voices` + LFE, basicly a DPLII or 5.0+LFE), i dont have any idea how to use the info i see to tell me how I get audio that isnt formatted that way in the source file...
Selur
19th February 2012, 16:16
A dpl2 stereo signal is still a stereo 2 signal.
Normally I would be created by converting 3 (left, right, center) or more channels down to stereo while adding additional infos such that it is possible to recreate a virtual center from the two channels.
Problems is if you only have to channels, you can either leave them as they are or modify them in some way such that they contain some sort or virtual center channel info.
Since you wrote:
Also, can we select ffdshow as audio decoder?, as some of the. Older tv shows etc its nice to tweak the old 2ch audio to PLII
it sounded to me like ffdshow could to the transformation you want and probably would show some sort of upmix-matrix to do the trick. :)
Stereo -> 5.1 is not supported in Hybrid since afaik it would require a lot of temporal files (see: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1385573#post1385573) which I don't like. :)
Cu Selur
DJ-1
19th February 2012, 18:12
yeah, the option in ffdshow is `decode 2CH source material as DPLII`.
Selur
19th February 2012, 18:25
Okay, that option probably interprets every stereo source as if it were a DPL2 source. -> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dolby_Pro_Logic it even shows the matrix http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dolby_Pro_Logic#Dolby_encoding_matrices
which should be something like:
FL = 1
FR = 2
FC = 1v0.707,2v0.707
LF = 0
RL = -1v0.872,2v0.489
RR = -1v0.489,2v0.872

Selur
19th February 2012, 19:32
me neither, but I can tell you, that 1v without a value behind it doesn't make sense :) needs to be just 1, also the sum of all parts of a channel should sum up do 1. :)

I put the audio stuff on hold for a bit since i`m lost with it....
Query: I`ve only recently got a home server and before that I`d always use the PS3 for streaming stuff off of the PC, I wanted to convert old tv shows etc, but wanted a nice output Resolution so that i dont get all the extra zoom options on the player I.E: Zoom__>Zoom2__>full screen etc etc etc.
Purely by luck i found a resolution that seems to be a perfect fit, I.E: i just get "Original size"__>"Normal" only with no under/over-scan, nothing cropped....it fits the same as if a 720P would do (on a 1080P output)....original and Normal. But i cant find any reference to the 800x450 for 4:3 / 16:9 or whatever.
PS: the old stuff (SOURCE MATERIAL) I`m coverting at the moment is all PAL 4:3 720x576
DJ-1
22nd February 2012, 19:11
when i use Vidcoder to convert videos it has an "ignore AR" button and just "anamorphic" as `None` --> output as 800x450.
mediainfo then shows the AR as 16:9 @800x450 .
but i cant seeem to replicate this in Hybrid at the moment, i always get black bars on the Left/Right....?
Selur
22nd February 2012, 19:29
I'm unsure what you want,.. :)
assuming you got anamorphic input you can:
a. ignore that it is anamorphic by telling Hybrid to handle it as if it had a 1:1 PAR (change Crop/Resize->Pixel Aspect Ratio (PAR)->Input PAR to 1:1) and resize to whatever resolution you want
b. convert it to i.e. square pixel (change Crop/Resize->Pixel Aspect Ratio (PAR)->Convert output to PAR->Square Pixel) and resize to whatever resolution you want
c. crop and zoom it such that it fills the input resolution (Enable cropping + Crop To DAR)
Hybrid itself will one add black bars if 'Add borders to fit size' is enabled.
During playback it if or if not black bars are added mainly depends on how your playback device/player is set to handle the input (pan&scan, letterbox,...) if it has not the same resolution as you screen.
but i cant seeem to replicate this in Hybrid at the moment, i always get black bars on the Left/Right....?
Probably because your output PAR is not 1:1,...
Cu Selur
Ps.: you probably should read up on what Pixel Aspect Ratio (PAR) and Display Aspect Ratio (DAR) mean (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pixel_aspect_ratio) if you want to understand what is happening and why.
DJ-1
22nd February 2012, 19:57
gonna give it a quick try now.
I dont think the PAR is anamorphic, its just PAL 4:3 720x576 (hybrid recognises source as PAR 1.067).
the idea is to simply have the new video playback naturally as a fullscreen image without relying on any media players handling of the content, why i`m doing the 4:3 AR conversion.
is 800x450 a`paricular` resolution?, its not just the PS3 thats happy with that Res, i also get a perfect 1:1 fit when played back on my xbmc media box.
Selur
22nd February 2012, 20:09
hybrid recognises source as PAR 1.067
PAR != 1 -> anamorph, if you think this is wrong change the input PAR to 1:1
Assuming the source has no black bars you got an effective resolution of 768x576 if you convert the input to square pixel. Since the height is > 500 and the width is < 800 you need to crop&resize or distort the image (by resizing without caring about the aspect ratio).
-> Neither me nor Hybrid can make the choice for you either cut of some pixels (such that resizing will hit you resolution), live with the distortion or the black bars. There is no magic that will change the math behind this.
DJ-1
22nd February 2012, 20:31
the source has got black bars left/right (4:3)
yep i know that I`ll have to crop etc to get to a resized resolution, but off of the DVD the `Original` content on all this older stuff is not centered etc, so cropping is ideal in this case is fine as I`m only getting rid of the rough edges of the video. (wich is probably why i end up at that particular res..)
tried the PAR 1:1 you suggested in the earlier post, same left right black bars on output
