Would it be better between megui and hybrid?
Selur

Not sure what you want, I guess you wanted to ask which is better, MeGui or Hybrid.
Since they both use the same encoder, there shouldn't be much of a difference.
Surprise! Personally I prefer Hybrid, but I'm the author. :D *gig*
MeGui:
- Windows only (afaik)
- always uses Avisynth (scripts need to be adjusted to use Avisynth MT)
- allows the user to manipulate the avisynth scripts
- easier to use, but has less options
Hybrid:
- Crossplattfrom
- uses Avisynth only if the AvisynthExtension is used (always uses Avisynth MT unless told otherwise)
- does not allow the user to manipulate the avisynth scripts
- more options -> more complicated to use, no One-Click-Mode

I used to use MeGui and now I use Hybrid, and I will not come back to MeGui.
Hybrid can do a lot of things and Selur always answer the questions and solves the bugs very quickly.;)

YES, selur does answer the questions and solves bugs very quickly.
Furthermore, Hybrid is natively cross-platform. Very interesting for us Linux users.
I just miss in Hybrid support for avisynth in Linux... but MeGUI also doesn't. And it is not Hybrid's fault. Maybe someday Vapoursynth...

You're right. Certainly it seems to be good than Megui. but I found some of bugs. for example After I finished an encoding from DVDISO source, as I input same DVDISO again.
Hybrid is crased. I always have to reinstall for re-work
I don't know why the program is crashed.

I suspect I probably fixed that problem a while ago but didn't release a new public version yet, since (a. still waiting for feedback regarding another bug b. got some problem connecting to my mac build environment atm.)
-> if you tell me which OS you are using, I can send you a link to a development version, if that version also doesn't help see: http://selur.de/support regarding what infos are needed for me to reproduce and fix a problem

Hybrid rev 2013.09.16.1:
*changed*
muxing: less folders to delete on AVCHD creation with tsMuxeR 1.11.x+
lot of refactoring to keep code base maintainable
*added*
resize: option to decide whether or not 'keep resize on source change' will be dis-/enabled depending if the source is a multi- or single source
encoder: Windows only: !experimental! DivX265 Command Line encoder support (muxing to mp4 requires recent MP4Box version), progress indication only works if ffmpeg is used as decoder. -> it's mainly ment to simply have a GUI for it, even if the options are really restricted (not by Hybrid but by the cli encoder itself), copy DivX265.exe into your Hybrid folder to try
*fixed*
extract: mencoder/mplayer audio extraction
input: crash when using DVD input on Windows Systems (caused by a threading bug in QT5)
audio: faac encoding with ffmpeg as decoder
audio: ffmpeg audio encoding with raw output didn't always use the proper output path
audio: ffmpeg audioID and ffmpeg audio index were mixed up on some audio extraction calls
a bunch of Mac OS X related problems
vp9: ffmpeg outputting yuv4mpeg instead of rawvideo when feeding vpxenc
analyse: analyse all title on a DVD not just all after the first selected
x264: error when applying 'zerolatency' tune option
jobs: merging of ffmpeg audio&video extraction calls with single audio source
input: wrong source selection when loading Blu-ray content through mplayer/mencoder since it uses it's own (not documented) mpls<>Blu-ray title mapping. -> dropping support for libbluray in mplayer/mencoder
muxing: automatic passthrough audio/video title, crash

added source selection option to Audio-tab
show current title in window title for multi source input

I tried testing in Hevc-MKV with original files that you launched and could not, because the Hybrid always originated errors.
Finally, follow the link 03 zipped executable files to their final tests in Hybrid and exchange if they want and if you can enable the option we can save the configuration of testing HEVC (. Xml) would be good for us.

Hybrid does not support hevc inside mkv since mkvtoolnix does not support it atm., the only way to save HEVC inside mkv is using some by DivX/Rovi modified mkvmerge&Co versions, which Hybrid does not support because the version is based on 6.2.0 (current is 6.4.1) and I'm not sure how future proof these versions are.

just a quick question really, does this program convert Bluray to Xvid without going through a Indexing process of any kind (i use XMedia Recode which does realtime converting, like handbrake does), I'm looking for something a little better than XMedia Recode, it's good for what it is, but one small thing that has always plagued this program is the way it crops, and the resolution aspect ratio downscaling functions.... it quite often gives me a really low height resolution which is much lower than what MeGUI would give, or handbrake for that matter, i have emailed the developer three times, with no answer!
Handbrake does now support ASP output (with the right advance command you can make a compatible ASP Xvid output, then just change the container for AVI), however it is not powered by Xvid itself, but rather a generic version of it (inside ffmpeg), which after many tests is far inferior to Xvid (profile=15:level=5:trell:mbd=2:mv0:v4mv:cbp:dia_size=2:pre_dia_size=2:last_pred=3:cmp=2: \
precmp=2:subcmp=2:bf=2:b_strategy=1) is as good as it gets with ffmpeg, but still no where near as good as Xvid.... only way to get good outputs is to throw about an extra 35% bitrate at the encodes than you would with just using Xvid alone.... sometimes a lot more if there are a lot of dark scenes.
any suggestions would be great, i just hate having to go through the indexing part with bluray films because it takes ages, and really puts a lot of strain on hard drives, also with ffmpeg and mencoder now being so mature in development, i'm still surprised how many converters still need to index stream first before encoding???
mediacoder is good on paper, but it's so slow, and very buggy, i can never get it to use more than 40% of my cpu no matter what settings i use (3770k)
any feedback i'll appreciate, looking for some insight aswell too.

i just hate having to go through the indexing part with bluray films because it takes ages DGDecNV can index a bluray in about 5 minutes. Is that really so onerous? Indexing isn't a useless thing, you know. It allows for accurate and robust random access, which is critical for the proper operation of many Avisynth scripts.
Pulp Catalyst
19th September 2013, 13:37
but to index a bluray stream, you have to demux first, i didn't say that part "demuxing", when i rip a bluray it creates a MKV or a .ts file, this can't be indexed without causing serious issues... so MeGUI for example will have to demux first, then index, then it can start the job, then it has to remux the final output..... 30 to 40minutes if not more has been wasted just on demuxing, indexing and remuxing alone. this is what i am trying to get around.... like handbrake does (but no Xvid support)
i understand the need for anysynth, but it would be nice to have a option to bypass that if needed (speed)
Guest

Not true. DGDecNV can index TS, M2TS, and MKV directly without demuxing.

Not true.

instead of saying true, not true, how about offering some insight, that is what i asked,
if my MeGUI setup is wrong, please tell me,
everytime i load a bluray into MeGUI, it first demuxes the streams i want from the MKV or .ts file, then it indexes the actual video stream, then it does the encoding job i want, but of course now it needs to remux the video and audio stream into a AVI container.
so that is not true, so please, tell me where i can forego, the need to demux, remux, and go straight to the encoding in realtime.

I have qaac portable with qtimes libs and put to the root Hybrid folder, qaac portable works good (for example in foobar2000). Is a way to use it without install Apple Application Support?
Selur
5th October 2013, 10:41
Only if you add the registry entries which come with the apple application support, since Hybrid checks these for verify if the Application Suppor is installed.
on 64bit systems:
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Apple Inc.\Apple Application Support" with "InstallDir" pointing to the folder where the application Dir is located
on 32bit systems:
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Apple Inc.\Apple Application Support" with "InstallDir" pointing to the folder where the application Dir is located
didn't know there was a portable version.
Does this portable version come with a modified qaac binary or does the normal qaac already support having the qtfiles in a separate folder next to the binary?

hi, Im on the newest Hybrid, version 2013.10.10.1...I got an errors creating AC3 audio file.
What I`m doing is :
File mode, .M2TS input
Pretty basic global profile, and having the `Add passtrough for reencode`option enabled under the audio tab.
So I`ll end up with 1 DTS-MA (passthrough)
+ 1 .AC3 track for older devices.
The Audio handling is `Custom`.
Add to queue, hit GO.
It extracts DTS-MA fine, then crashes with `exit code 1` (near bottom of the debug.)
Not mentioned video settings as it never gets that far.

Audio handling is `Custom`
Went into audio settings/misc ....enabled the Passthrough of source audio + the Before/after option also.
Selected a secondary AC3 audio profile to encode 2nd track to.
created job, hit GO.
same result with exit code1 (near bottom of log).
