@hypo20
Thanx for the reply - i pretty much guessed that was it. however...
Still get mixed results on Pirates of the Caribbean D1. Using v0.23 plays perfectly on the cheapo Venturer, even plays the Disney title without skipping on my Yamaha but then the Bruce Almighty still kicks in; pauses, ignores the rest of the trailer, more pauses, then into the menu ok. However it then misses the credits and the 1st 3 or four minutes of the film (where they pick up the young Turner adrift at sea). Can't get that portion of the film using chapter selection either, nor by rewinding.
So I would say that whatever the problem is it's down to how individual players handle (or don't as the case may be) the DVD specs.

BTW. In the navigation packs, RB changes the Prohibited U-OP from the original.
The original was 00 00 00 00 00. After rebuild 01 c0 40 10. Are you sure? I've never changed the U-OP (although that would be on the way-out wish list). It isn't often that an original has no restrictions at all. Was it preprocessed through something else?

Thats good news

Yes, it was preprocessed by DVDstripper, but in the processed VOBS the Prohibited U-OP are all 00 00 00 00 as the original (LOTR_TT_SEE Disk4).

I've been setting that value to 01 C0 40 10. I guess it would make more sense to set it to no restrictions since I'm putting a constant value in anyway.

All,
Just so you know, I've made the fixes to the NAVPACKS and it works -- no difference when compared to the IFOEDIT fixed file. Good. But after some comments from some testers asking about audio sizing, I've also noticed that the resizing of the files has changed. Instead of 4.3GB output I'm getting 3.98GB... it started in either v0.22 or v0.23 and appears to be related to the size limit on VTSs to be processed that I added to v0.22. I'm trying to find it before posting. If not, I will post as-is and fix it in the next version.

@jdobbs
1. DVD-RB Version: DVD-RB v0.23
2. Encoder being used: CCE SP 2.67.00.23 (trial)
3. Using eclCCE? Y - eclCCE v1.7b
4. Bugs encountered:
1st (minor) bug: When viewing on standalone (Toshiba SD-3800), skipping chapters does not seem to work properly, attempting to go from chapter 1 to 2 actually has dvd going from 1 to 3. I can go backwards in chapters from 3 to 2, but in attempting to go from 1 to 2, the dvd actually goes to chapter 3. DVD being used: Out of Time SE (NTSC R1).
2nd bug encoutered: The DVD I am compressing is Out of Time Special Edition. The DVD is interlaced (checked with DVD2AVIdg), thus I used the "ConvertToYUV2(interlaced=true)" option in the AVS section of the Options menu. (And yes, ForceFilm is not enabled) However when playing in PowerDVD the horizontal interlaced lines appear. When applying the deinterlace filter that comes with PowerDVD the video looks okay but kind of jumpy. When playing the burned DVD in my standalone the video is VERY jumpy.
I am wondering what is the exact problem of this? The original is interlaced and plans fine in PowerDVD and my standalone.
I am sure it has something to do with the avs/cce settings and the fact that the orig video is interlaced.
Other than that, Thank You for a great program, its a real time-saver than having to do everything manually when using CCE.

Hey JDobbs
I'm using version .23 of DVD-RB and I keep getting Error number 52.
It says Runtime Error 52
Bad filename or number
This happens when I click on prepare or in 1 click mode. Any ideas?

I only have interlaced material and i don't have any of these interlaced problems.

@Pedro
What settings do you use with DVD-RB and your interlaced material? DVD-RB version, CCE version, eclCCE version, Options in DVD-RB, etc.
Just a question: You are 100% sure that the material you are dealing with is truly interlaced right? Some ppl mistake all DVDs they see the horizontal lines in as truly interlaced which is not true. Many NTSC DVDs appear to be interlaced but if ForceFilm is enabled then the progressive frames can be recovered.
Thanks.
Pedro Gouveia

I live in Europe and almost every DVD's in Europe (except some Music DVD's) are interlaced. (Correct me if i'm wrong)
Same versions of yours.

You're most likely encoding with the wrong field order, in order to fix this, turn off DVD-RB's one click mode, and after you finish the "Prepare" stage, open the ECL file it creates with notepad. Look for one of these lines: "offset_line=" or "top_first=" (it will be one of them, I can't remember what v2.67 uses), change the value to the opposite of what it is now, and save the file. Then, go back to DVD-RB, and continue with encoding/rebuilding.

I've posted tonight's update to DVD-RB (v0.24) the changes are listed below:
- Corrected a major problem that caused pixelation when switching between chapters and when FF/REW went over chapter boundaries.
- Corrected a sizing inconsistency that was always present but was revealed in by the implementation of VTS processing size limits (in v0.22).
- User restrictions (in the VOB files) are now set to 0x00000000 (no prohibited operations). Please note that U-OPs are not being modified in the IFO files.
- Fixed two variable initialization errors that were the root of several small NAVPACK video reference errors (associated with NAVPACK headers). These could only be seen when performing more than one Rebuild in a session.
- Added ability to adjust target DVD size. I've purposely not made this easily available so I don't get complaints of 4 hour recodes that don't fit. To use, just add TargetSectors=nnnn under the [Options] section of the REBUILDER.INI file. As a reference the default for DVD-RB is 2236400 and the maximum for a DVD-5 is 2297888. But remember there always should be a little room left for margin of error.
Download it from the first post on this thread.

Working=F:\TEMP\NEW FOLDER\ I just tested it on mine and it works correctly. If you look in the resulting .ECL file you should see a parameter that says vbr_pass=n -- n will equal the number you entered minus 1 (vaf pass plus n more). Looking at the file .INI you sent above the value should be vbr_pass=3.

Hi JDobbs
testing 0.24 tonight. I am setting up the batch mode by first saving individual project files. I save individual projects with only one of several possible English audio tracks checked. If I reload the project, all the English language audio tracks are still checked. Apparently the project file is not saving the updated audio tracks that I want and is simply defaulting back to the option to use all English laguage audio tracks.

The pixelation at the start of each chapter is still there. I did the full process and still get that.

When I suggested you to change the "offset_line=" / "top_first=" lines (in the ECL), you did change them for every single AVS file right (or at least for the main movie VTS set)?

Hey jdobbs. Congrats on what looks to be the holy grail of DVD backup!!
Everything seems to play perfectly using .24 except the stuttering/pixelization between chapters. I'm sure it's the same
problem DMagic1 is experiencing.
Movie is Blade 2, region 1, NTSC.
DVD-RB .24
EclCCE
CCE 2.5
Panasonic RP82 standalone
I think you're on the brink of having this thing perfected. Keep up the good work. It is greatly appreciated.

The sizing issues don't seem to be worked out. I just redid Lost In Translation and it came out to 3.5GB. This appears to have creeped in in the last couple of versions or so.

Had you tried fixing the problem previously by running it through IFOEdit? I was under the impression from previous posts that they went away when the pointers were fixed.

Needless to say -- I'm a little disappointed with at least two of the fixes that went in last night. I had high hopes. Oh well, that was about 6 hours down the tube... This error was related to my attempt to "remove" VTSs from the processing queue (v0.22) that were too small to make a difference. Somehow, it seems, that screwed up my size calculation.

Uhm, I wouldn't trust IFOEdit output too much... At least for me, every VOB sequence I have run through IFOEdit then had seeking problems in software players. FF/RW works fine, but dragging the timeline slider always kicks back to the menu, i.e. doesn't work.

That would be the TMAPTI table -- I'm confident that I have that one down (along with the rest of the IFO). But when I read the comments yesterday I saw several who said that correcting their VOBs through IFOEdit made all pixelation and chapter problems go away. It then led me to a problem I had with computing reference-end-blocks and a couple of other NAVPACK issues. Those are fixed now, and my test last night showed no difference between my output and one corrected by IFOEdit... so now I'm at a loss. My problem is that these play fine on my 3 players and on my computer (but so did the previous sets) -- so I can't really test them.
