View Full Version : DVD Rebuilder (CCE One-Click Beta) Bug Reports
Hmm, that's definitely a still frame cell (single I-Frame). Looks like there still are issues with still images remuxing.

Using DVD-RB v.28 with QuEnc v.45 on Runaway Jury give run time error "5" during rebuild of VOBID-3 cellid 1.
I did remove some xtras with DvdReMake.
Same source works ok using Rejig.
The ReJig version looks very good and sized at 4.34Gb.

Hmmm.... now i'm getting a runtime 9 error "subscript out of range" on in dvd-rb 0.26 when trying to open up T2 (R2 Pal).
The only thing i can think of different to the other two i've tried is that there 7 vts series as opposed to 4 max with the other two i have tried.
edit: whoops that can't be the case- just tried processing the second disc which has 7 title sets as well and that works. having looked for this error through the thread this error is popping up as soon as i point dvd-rb to the source file which is on the HD (in my case "C:\VIDEO_TS") Everytime i open it thereafter it just chucks out the runtime error 9: subscript out of range. To get dvd rb to laod again i have to edit the source in the .ini file.
anyone lese have this problem?
Thought the decrypter may have crapped out when ripping but it opens in dvd shrink ok....

I got the same exact problem that oldeman got on VOBID:03, CELLID:01 after using DvdRemake to remove extras. I used quenc, addaudio(),ConvertToYV12(interlaced=true) and a film threshold of 70%. The DvdRemake didn't give me any errors and i'm using the newest version of both DvdRemake and dvd-rb. This was done on an anime series that I backed up with all versions prior to .28 after running through DvdShrink but this is the first time with DvdRemake.

ok Jdobbs heres my findings in the 28 days later Backup.
Processed w/DVD Decryptor and nothing stripped!!!!!!
dvd-rb: Version 0.28
OS: WinXP Pro
CCE: CCE V 2.66(sp)
the buffer Overflow error #0004 occured during the rebuilding phase at this point:
it was 99% complete of V0600000000 1001.M2V
-Processing VTS 06
-Rebuilding Segment:0 Vobid:1 Cellid:1
I hope that helps it was about 36% through the rebuilding stage.
People, please don't process the DVD through anything except DVDDecrypter before sending it through DVD-RB! In this early beta stage, noone can be sure the error is a result of the "butchering".

Can anyone please confirm if the overlow error you are experiencing is occuring at a still frame cell during the rebuild(phase iii) process?

Just checked it out. That Vob title set VTS 6 is all still frames on 28 days later. Is there a dvd stripping program I can use to remove it and see if it works with out that??

Are there any settings in DVD Decrypter that can cause DVD-RB problems? Just off of the top of my head (I am presently at work and can't check them at present) I know I have "remove PUOP's", "remove Macrovision...", "multi-angle" enabled. Is there a "right" way to set up DVD Decrypter that will provide files that are "pure" to process through DVD-RB.
Maybe a stupid question but I've asked.

I still get the runtime error 6 at the rebuild phase. Same movie, Texas Chainsaw, Directly run only through DVD decrypter, ISO .IMG, first then mount the .IMG thru DeamonTools and straight thru DVDRB. Should I try FILE MODE only?

Now for the kicker, reauthors fine in .26 :)
Im having the same strange phenomena. Why is that? .27 couldnt rebuild but .26 could? Please, explain it to me. Movie: The Bridge Over River Kwai.
PS. Didnt run anything through any other app. Dvddecryper and DVD-RB only tools used. DS.

I received the error 6 and ripped the DVD in file mode. Apparently mounting the image doesn't make a difference.

As soon as I go the error with DVD-RB, I took note of where it occured, then used notepad to view the avs file that RB created for that particular cell in question.
IfoEdit dispalyed a timestamp of 00:00:01.00
Inside the avs you should see trim(xxxxx, yyyyy). xxxxx is the start frame and yyyyy is the end frame.
I am assuming that if the both are the same(meaning start and end) then it's a still frame.

Just did Rundown (R1), straight after DVD Decrypter. I got an error #6 during rebuild with DVD-RB 0.28. :( I got tagged at V01002900002001. It's a still frame by looking at the trim line.

So it looks like .27 and .28 don't agree well with these still frames. Agree?

Finally got some spare time to test 0.28. The DVD I tested was Monty Python and the Holy Grail (PAL R2) which has also button over video. Main movie is just about 90 minutes and has 105 cells.
The whole process went without a glitch, using CCE-SP 2.67.00.23. Whole disc played fine in WinDVD, the only thing was that the button over video feature (called "killer white rabbit" :D here) didn't work anymore (yes I turned it on in the menu). The white rabbit subs didn't even show up, nor where there any "invisible" buttons that I could activate (used the original disc to note time codes where they show up). Also confirmed by MenuEdit, no buttons anywhere in the rebuilt VOBs. jdobbs, I think you are not transferring the button and highlight layer information from the original NAV packs.
I also had a theory about the audio glitches at chapter breaks that many people where reporting and I think it's confirmed now. I suspect the reason is seq_endcode=1 in the ECL, as a result CCE appends a MPEG sequence end code (0x01B7) to every M2V. I noticed this earlier but thought this flag is dropped during remuxing, but it's not. I demuxed the video M2V from the rebuilt VOBs with vstrip, imported into Scenarist and got the expected "Warning : Number of SequenceEndCode is 105" warning message (105 cells -> 105 sequence end codes). So more precisely, the audio glitches should be there for every cell, not just chapters (well most PGCs have as many chapters as cells). I'm sure some (most ?)standalones have problems with the unexpected end code and produce a small playback discontinuity when skipping over it. There should be exactly one sequence end code at the end of the last cell. Or simply drop it all together. It's not necessary AFAIK, I demuxed the M2V from some commerical DVDs and they always had no end code anywhere.
Also a suggestion about how Rebuilder is checking for the encoders still running. I noticed that during encoding, there was a peak in Rebuilder's CPU usage every few seconds. I suspect it goes into a tight loop every now and then and tries to find some CCE window or something. I don't know what's possible in VB, but here is what I'd be doing: launch the app via either CreateProcess() or ShellExecuteEx() APIs, the latter with the SEE_MASK_NOCLOSEPROCESS flag set. Now you have a process handle (hProcess) to the app you launched. Next use SetTimer() API to attach a timer to your window, 1 sec. timeout would be OK. So you get a WM_TIMER message every 1 sec. in your WndProc. When you get this message, use WaitForSingleObject(hProcess, 0) to check for the app still running. If the return value is WAIT_OBJECT_0, the app exited and you can close the handle via CloseHandle().
Oh and maybe you shouldn't make the DVD-RB window resizable, it doesn't look too well when you do :)

Another observation I have encountered is that I did one DVD that had motion Title menus (not in menu VOBs but movie VOBs), and when DVD-RB had successfully processed it, my menu buttons are non-existent. Don't know if this has been brought up before but I think DVD-RB can't process these types of VOBs with buttons in them.

Wicked tool however i have read this whole thread and no one seems to get the problem that i get :
1. DVD-R Version: 0.27
2. Encoder being used: CCE 2.67.00.23
3. Using eclCCE? 1.8a
4. Bug encountered: After it went through phase 1 when i comes to phase to to encode i get the following error pop up:
Trial limitation Error
Cant open ECL file
Any ideas ???
I am trying to back up 24 Season 2 Disc 7 Pal Region 2

Forgot one thing:
Your algorithm to decide which VTSes to skip because they are under a certain size seems to include the VTS menu VOBs (VTS_??_0.VOB) in the size calculation. You should leave the menu VOBs out of this (as long as you don't support shrinking the menus of course :) ) because in my particular case, this caused a 200 KB VTS_05_1.VOB to be processed.01.04.2004 16:43 36.864 VTS_05_0.BUP

You did not set up EclCCE correctly and/or did not enter the path to EclCCE.exe in Rebuilder. Run EclCCE at least once, point it at the CCE executable. Then in rebuilder, browse to EclCCE.exe (not cctspt.exe!) for "Path to CCE SP (New)".

Sounds like eclCCE isn't configured correcctly and your CCE is a trial and it will not open or save ecl files. Just a guess I don't use eclcce I use the CCE Basic. Anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it...

As for the check, right now I get the process handle for CCE and stay in a loop where I release control, sleep for 250ms each time through, and then check to see if the process has terminated.

Yes, I know, but you seem to include them in the VTS size calculation :) So this can cause a very small VOB to be processed that you would normally leave unprocessed, as you can see. The menu VOB is more than 200 megs whereas VTS_05_1.VOB is just 250 KB.

@jdobbs
I wanted to redo my Rundown DVD again so in a hurry, I didn't delete my VIDEO_TS folder which still contained previous files in my destination folder. I left home and came back thinking DVD-RB v0.28 would be done since I chose "One click" processing. Now, I didn't get any errors but my usual DVD-RB warning popped up after encoding stage had completed.
All contents of the working VIDEO_TS folder will be erased. Continue?
Now, it's a good thing in way since, at this moment, I really needed to rebuild with v.026 instead because this DVD gave me error #6 with 0.28 earlier. But, it's a bad thing down the road knowing that I have process stoppage since DVD-RB still needs user input to continue with "one click" option selected. Erasing VIDEO_TS folder should be automatic don't you think?
Note 1: Disregard above. Found that I didn't set warning supression on.
Note 2: I had processed this earlier with everything kept and my end size was 4.31 GB. My second time around, with only Spanish and French audio removed by DVD-RB, I got 4.61 GB. First time I had a sizing issue.
Update: By the way, I checked out to see if my audios were removed since I unchecked them in DVD-RB, they weren't. :(. I don't get it. If I keep them, I get 4.31 GB. If i choose to remove them, I get 4.61 GB.

I'm getting the much reported Run-time error "9" - Subscript out of range error during the Prepare phase. There are 11 VTS's on this DVD (main movie is VTS 4). The error is produced as it starts on VTS 10, which is just one of the many small Trailers on the DVD, this one was for Bagdad Cafe. I ran the whole DVD through DVD Shrink at 99.7% compression and tried again. Same result. Also when I click the Error box OK, it shuts down and so does ReBuilder.
Do I have to wait for 0.29 (or 0.30 ) for this one ?
jdobbs, keep up the good work, this is THE best program to hit the scene in the past 12 months.
Cheers,
cm
Further to this problem, I also tried DVD2One to pre-process but ended up withthe identical error in the same place, ie Runtime error 9 during the Prepare phase. Checking the D2VAVS folder, it appears the VTS 9 is not preccessed, ie processed ...6, 7, 8 and then 10 and errors out. VTS 9 contains another small trialer (the Marx Brothers in black & white).

Edit: Went back to 0.26 and still same error. This shows how VTS 9 is missed.

I think if you select "Suppress Warning Prompts" under the Mode menu it will stop doing that.

@RB,
I'm at a loss to explain this one. I tried to create an ECL that would work with 1.8 -- but I just can't do it... It matches everything in the original exactly. I even do a DOS compare and it says the files match. But if I try and drag-and-drop the one I created into CCE v2.50 -- if gives that same error.
If I didn't see it myself, I wouldn't believe it.
I'm going to bed, my eyes have to be deceiving me.

The whole process went without a glitch, using CCE-SP 2.67.00.23. Whole disc played fine in WinDVD, the only thing was that the button over video feature (called "killer white rabbit" :D here)... So you know this rabbit then :D

OK, I think you have much more important things to do than to work around this CCE ballerina :) I'll release EclCCE 1.8b and go back to the old way of loading the ECL into CCE-SP 2.50 there, no big deal. But out of interest, please email me or upload that ECL you created somewhere (we've exchanged email once before, you probably still have my address, otherwise please PM me).
Thanks for all the hard work, jdobbs! Truly amazing. I also have to say that this test I ran (with dynamically allocated bitrate option enabled) convinced me that this produces quality equal to an encode of the whole PGC in one big piece.
@onesoul:
Yeah, where is my holy hand grenade :D ? God, I love these movies!

I have an error message I don't believe has been posted previously.
The source is a PAL disk.
DVD-RB 0.28
Quenc 4.51
Dynamically assigned bitrates
The prepare and encode stages worked fine, however I got an error during the rebuild phase at 93.4%.
It got as far as segment 63, vobid:3, cellid:13, updating navpacks:-
"Error in UpdateIFO: Shouldn't happen - contact developer"
(Nice message JDobbs :) )
I also tried redoing the whole process with CCE and got the same message at the same stage.
Has anyone else seen this before?
I did Battle Royale II with 0.28 and got freezes/skipping at every chapter. So I installed 0.21 and Rebuild with that instead. And hey presto, it now worked perfectly (well apart from the missing Closed Captions, but that's another story). The problem is also apparent in 0.27.

Did 3 dvds went great ! !:D
DVDRB 0.28 (also 0.27 0.26 0.24)
CCE 2.50 + Eclcce 1.7b
Hit my fist trouble maker 3 days ago
PAL
Rules of Engagement CE
One click mode gave the "Runtime error 9" right at the start of the Prepare phase.
tried: dvd2one movie only and no compression
gave the "Runtime error 9" right at the start of the Prepare phase
tried: dotif4u to demux files (everything went ok)
rebuild (no compression ) with Maestro (subs couldn't be loaded?) (subrip->stl could)
gave the "Runtime error 9" right at the start of the Prepare phase.
Tried: removed audio tracks and trimmed the start and end of the movie to ~150MB (5 minutes)
(had to add additional vobs to prevent the dvd is smaller than dvd5 warning)
gave the "Runtime error 9" right at the start of the Prepare phase.
Funny thing is the m2v file shows as :
interlaced, bottom field first (bitrateviewer and dif4u)
This is the first dvd I have seen to have this, normally only DV material ?
Tried restream and checked top field fist flag rebuild:
gave the "Runtime error 9" right at the start of the Prepare phase.
still looking for the cause
:)

OK, EclCCE 1.8b (http://home.t-online.de/home/340044300675/eclcce.zip) released, this should put CCE 2.50 back into the game.02/04/2004 v1.8b
- Fixed: compatibility issue with CCE-SP 2.50/2.62/2.64, jdobbs's
DVD-Rebuilder and command line ECL loading. No more AVIFileOpen
errors with DVD-Rebuilder generated ECLs for CCE-SP 2.50.
- Some internal code cleaning and small fixes.

Thanks very much RB, now I can stop hunting for older versions of EclCCE.
I can confirm that eclCCE 1.8 works fine with CCE 2.50.

I tried this with v26 and rebuild with v21, but still have chapter stutter (already this setup available). :( I'll try the v28/v21 and see if that works for me also. Can't wait to get a good dvd. The ease of this software is fantastic (thanks jdobbs).:D

If i choose to remove them, I get 4.61 GB.  [/B] You're the second person to report this happening -- but it doesn't seem to be consistent. Anything else happening when you did this? Did you save a project and then open it on the second try? I'm trying to see what set of circumstances can cause this.
I do know that if you do a "PREPARE" with the items unchecked and then "REBUILD" with them checked it will do exactly what you are reporting.
Thx.
