P.S: The Casino Royale problem was my fault. xport works perfectly fine. However, I do get discontinuity warnings with virtually any Blu-Ray I throw at xport.

Has anyone ripped a Blu-Ray with seemless branching (if there are any yet)? I wonder how it would work. Would the different scenes be on the disc as separate files or integrated into the main m2ts?

I don't think there are any discs out there using seamless branching. Even on DVD there where only a handfull of releases.

Question regarding xport: Is it possible to demux audio only?
Sorry for the long delay. I was just a little too busy with work related activities. I've updated xport to version 0.98 for audio only demuxing.
http://www.w6rz.net/xport.zip
Audio only demuxing is accomplished by setting the video channel to zero. Like so:
xport clip.ts 1 0 1

@Ron, you said earlier than Blu-Ray discs shouldn't have discontinuities. But xport reports them on almost any Blu-Ray disc I tried it on. Does that make any sense to you?
Are you combining all the .m2ts files into one giant .m2ts before demuxing? If yes, then the discontinuities are probably at the concatenation points.

I believe I have discontinuities for non-seamless-branching movies, too, but I'm only 95% sure right now. I'll double check that next time.

After I have used orbitlee's DTScore application to get the DTS core out of a DTS HD track on a blu ray rip, how do I put that DTS audio back into the .M2TS movie file? I am using TSremux to strip out the DTS HD stream initially. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ive successfully encoded the video from an .evo to a mkv/avi file using megui, but i cant re-encode the audio.
Using evodemux demuxes the audio to a mpa file, which is fine.
Then i rename it to a .ddp
Im using eac3to to convert it, it wont work. I've used about 15-20 programs to convert it, and still no luck.
How do i successfully convert the demuxed mpa/ddp file to a commonly readable audio track like mp3/wav?
PS: Im trying to convert the original .evo with video and audio to a 10-15gb avi or wmv file to watch on the pc via media player or something simple like that.. WHY IS THIS SO HARD?
Please ask this question in the eac3to thread and post there the full eac3to output text.

EVODemux does a great job of merging .evo files into one file for easy editing\re-encoding but I can't find any way of doing the same with m2ts. I know of the copy /b method but this is shoddy at best.

It can? That's a feature I wasn't aware of. How do you enable/use it?
idbirch2
19th September 2007, 23:31
Yeah, I wasn't aware of that either. I have 0.0.18 which as far as I'm aware is the latest version. If I open an m2ts file that is part of a set, with sequential filenames, TSRemux only displays the video length of the single file I have opened. I would expect to see the total film duration if it was going to merge the files. What am I missing?
madshi

You copy those m2ts files together with "copy source1.m2ts+source2.m2ts final.m2ts /b". And then you run TsRemux over the result to rewrite the timestamps and remove the "sequence end of code" chunks.

Doesn't work for me. When I play the final movie it goes into high speed for a few seconds after the join.
I also find that the playback time values as displayed in PowerDVD are wrong (up to 50% too high) in any m2ts that has been through TsRemux.

I found a solution yesterday. I have to put all the pieces through TSRemux, join them with the copy / b and then run the completed file through TSRemux again.
This fixes the fast forward issue, but not the time values.

Hi, im having trouble converting DTS-HD from a m2ts file to wav. Ive tried using xport from the m2ts file, then sox, then messing around in wavewizard. If I do it in that order, no matter what options i specify in xport and sox, wavewiz doesnt recognize the wav. If I split them up using tranzcode wavwiz recognizes them but I still get static, just like when I have the full wav file from converting it from .raw in sox. The most I know about the audio is its DTS-HD 5.1 48hkz (powerdvd) so ive tried those and all other format options from 2ch to 6ch and 16 to 32bit in sox for the wav. Ive also used tsremux to cut the file short so it doesnt take as long, I only want part of it which is at the very end anyway, and played around with that 195mb raw file which tsremux said was about 5.54mins worth. when I use sox on that file with options 48khz 6ch 16bit the wav length is 5.56 which is about as close as I can get it which hopefuly tells me im close but I dont know for sure. Another weird thing is wavwiz will recognize the file if I sox it to 96000khz 2ch 16bit but all I hear is static still no matter what I do.
Anyway Ive spent days on this trying to get it to work and trying this and that but I just cant figure out whats wrong. Any ideas?

xport does only *demux* the audio, it doesn't *decode* it. That means the file you get from xport is still DTS-HD. Sox cannot handle DTS-HD. It doesn't have a DTS-HD decoder built in.
You can use the "eac3to" tool to convert the DTS-HD track (which you demuxed with xport) to WAV, AC3, DTS or FLAC.

Thanks for that info. I was beginning to think that. About the eac3to tool, Ive downloaded that now and try to decode the file but it says it needs:
For decoding DTS-HD files you need these filters:
(1) "Sonic HD Demuxer"
(2) "Sonic Cinemaster Audio Decoder 4.3"
(3) "Dump" filter
Ive been on the sonic.com website trying to figure out which programs include these things so I can purchase but its hard to figure out. Lastly what is the Dump filter? Is that included in the Sonic software stuff? Thanks.
Edit: Ive figured out the command lines in eac3to, its outputting a file but I dont know why im still hearing static. Im guessing because of the missing filters, I dunno. Here are my steps ive done so far:
1. demux the dts-hd track from m2ts file
2. rename extension to pcm
3. convert pcm to wav in eac3to
4. get unplayable wav.

The filter it part of Scenarist. But maybe you can also purchase it separately to save some (a lot of) money. You'd have to ask Sonic about that.
Lastly what is the Dump filter?
The Dump filter is shipping with GraphEdit. So you need to download GraphEdit and then register the Dump filter by executing "regsvr32 dump.ax".

Just because you rename a file to PCM doesn't make the file PCM. It's a DTS-HD file and not a PCM file. So renaming it to PCM doesn't make any sense. It only results in eac3to handling the file incorrectly.

Not that I knew of. Of course most DTS decoders can decode the DTS Core just fine, but the additional DTS-HD information would be lost.

Edit: Ok. I got the Sonic dll's working finally I think. I created a graph m2ts > Sonic HD Demuxer > Sonic Audio Decoder 4.2 (4.3) > Dump. Im not sure what type of file it is when the dump is complete. The extension is .wav because I selected that in the file types when I typed a name for the dump but when I try to convert it in eac3to I get different errors like it has a bitdepth of 0 and has 0 channels. I tried renaming the file to .raw, dtshd, etc.. but no luck. The dump is DTS-HD 6ch 48khz 24bit though. So im confused on how to turn the file into a working wav. Whatever I do I just end up getting static again.
k I give up. I tried messing around more and I think all the dumping is doing is outputting a mpeg 1 2 channel file because when I go back and add that file I dumped in graph thats what sonic hd dmuxer says it is. On top of that it wont play and that would explain why I cant convert it into anything. I believe all of this is due to the .dll's not being registered correctly. So, if anyone is willing, could I just crop out the 5 or so minutes worth of the m2ts file and have someone demux the file for me thats able to do it? I can upload it to somewhere if someone can please let me know, thanks.

Why not just :
1) Use xport to dump the DTS-HD file or build a graph like this : m2ts > Sonic HD Demuxer > Dump (no need for Audio Decoder here, but name your file .wav to obtain the dump).
2) Rename your dumped DTS-HD file with .dts extension
3) Pass it through Tranzcode. Tranzcode will read only the DTS core and give you a valid 32 bits WAV output (or less, if you want 16 or 24 bits output).

I have just encountered a situation which is entirely new to me with EVODemux. I have 2 video sources. One is h.264 and the other is VC.1. When I merge the two EVOBs I get a file that graphedit doesn't like. I can't connect the rebuilt EVOB to the WMVideo Decoder DMO. I have rebuilt the EVOB with both video streams and rebuilt them separately. When I only rebuild the VC.1 video I get a small (600 MB or so) file that I can connect with the graph. I also couldn't help but notice that the resolution of the VC.1 stream was 720/480 at 23.976 fps while the H.264 stream is 1920/1080 @ 60 fps. Naturally this is very confusing to me since I don't understand how one video can have two different resolutions and frame rates. This is a new HD DVD which I was just able to decrypt tonight after having it for about a week and not being able to watch it on my non HDCP compliant monitor; so maybe this is some new arrangement never before seen?

look at the resolution of both video streams: the other stream with 720*480 belongs to the extras, it has nothing to do with the 1st stream, which belongs to the main movie

Makes sense. But when I rebuild the .EVO with only the avc stream I can't connect it in graphedit the normal way. Is there a separate procedure for loading h.264 streams? Could I just use DGavcdecode?

is there a way to remove the flags from a AVC HD-DVD to make it complient with blu-ray. Trying to get the video to stream to my PS3 over the network. Thanks
Thanks.

I have tried ripping and re ripping this movie with no luck. I have found no way to decode the .EVO rebuilt with only the h.264 at all. I have tried to remux to .mkv with GDSmux and every time I try GDSmux crashes at 9.2%. If I render the rebuilt .EVO with graphedit it gives me .EVO -> Sonic HD Demuxer -> ffdshow video decoder. I tried to load that graph and that doesn't work either. All of the searching of this forum and all of the Googling I have done reveals nothing overtly helpful to me in this instance. Can anyone please help shed some light on this?

strange, works fine on mine with AVC vids - via the EVO or just raw AVC.
you tried whatever.h264 -> sonic demux -> sonic video decoder?
raw AVC is read fine by DGAVC for me also (most recently for transformers)

It's not raw AVC. It's a rebuilt EVO. I don't know how to handle it. Can I extract the AVC from the .EVO somehow? I assume so. Using DGAVCDecode would be excellent.

of course, just use evodemux and just choose demux instead of rebuild.
evo's work fine too if you have haalis stuff installed.
in graphedit iirc its
haalis media splitter and choose your file. - link to whatever decoder you prefer. coreavc, ffdshow etc.
also works fine for me.

Sorry I must have spaced when reading your 2nd to last post. Transformers? The HD DVD? That's what I'm trying to tackle. I'm demuxing the AVC as I type (thanks for the tip btw). So you just loaded the AVC with DGAVCDecode in your AVS script?
