dchard: I wasn't able to play TrueHD tracks using your method. I tried this a month ago and I get silence or the filter refuses to connect.
Are you sure it is using the TrueHD track? What if you use EVODemux to build an EVO that only contains one video and one TrueHD track?

I just had the time now so I tried it out, and what do you know, it works very nicely when i rename media player classic to recode.exe.
you'll have to block a lot of filters, ie sonic video decoder as that screws mpc up. I tried out scanner darkly hddvd, and that plays great, as well as the good shepherd hddvd & casino royale bluray.
all play perfectly.
this is how my filter order looks.
Good Shepherd.

Just so you know i'm not talking out of my ears, I've never tried using it this way as if i want to playback hddvd/bluray I just use nero showtime w/ the bluray/hddvd plugin I was forced to purchase! LOL but i think it was well worth the money i spent, best value and use i've ever gotten out of playback software, most interestingly out of Ahead.
Michael
Edit: With Nero Showtime I just select Play Media From Folder point it at the HDDVD or Bluray Folder and it plays back with full menus, everything, if you are looking to use these filters for encoding, it might be a different story, as I've mucked around a bit trying to load the filter graph in megui, and without renaming megui to recode.exe, (not sure if it well mess up dynamic link library access and what not), Ahead's digital protection kicks in and doesn't let me load the audio/video decoder HD filters...thats something to try another time.
hI!
I am not sure what Im doing wrong but my Nero Audio Decoder 2 wont connect to the AC3 Filter...any ideas?
Thanks

Are you sure it is using the TrueHD track? What if you use EVODemux to build an EVO that only contains one video and one TrueHD track?
As I wrote in the MOD section of my post, after some tryout I figured out, that the halli splitter won't recognizes the MLP(trueHD) track, therefor it cannot send it to the Sonic Audio decoder (which probably can decode the trueHD track.
1.
Is there any way to open an evob in graph edit without Haali splitter?
2. Will I get a raw file (which can be used for processing with SoX) if I use this graph? (no matter if the audio is eac3 or other)
Evob (haali) --> Sonic audio decoder 4.2 --> Dump filter ??
Thanks!

Shaolin,
Well, in graphedit, make sure your graphedt.exe is renamed to recode.exe, make sure you are using the bluray/hddvd plugin for nero. Im using AC3filter 1.30b, latest Haali, 28/3 i think it is, Nero dshow filters from 7.8.5.0, with the bluray/hddvd plugin activated.
Make sure AC3filter is set to accept LPCM as input.
There is nothing more to it, if you don't have the program trying to use the filter named as recode.exe it wont work, and if you havent activated the bluray hddvd plugin it wont work.

dchard, you can try the Sonic HD Demuxer instead of Haali.
Try using File Source Async->Sonic HD Demuxer. That should allow you to open an EVO file within GraphEdit. Unfortunately, I still could not get the TrueHD audio to play back. :(

Hi!
Thanks for the two method.
Rectal Prolapse:
I tryed your method with the following graph:
File Source Async->Sonic HD Demuxer -->
after the HD demuxer I tryed Cyberlink Aduio Decoder, Sonic scenarist audio decoder 4.2, Elecard Audio decoder, but I always got error messages.
The important thing is, that when I go to the HD demuxer's properties, it seems the demuxer was recognised the trueHD (48KHz, 6 ch, 24bit) track after I connected the Async and the Demuxer's pins.
I tryed another method:
File Source Async-> Eelcard demultiplexer --> Elecard audio decoder --> Directsound.
With this I got a fizzy signal. I repaced the Elecard audio decoder with cinemaster audio decoder 4.2, but again I got fizzy audio signal.
Now I trying to get a Nero version which conatins the Blu-Ray/HD-DVd plugin. If someone can help with this, it will highly appreciated. Is the plugin in the 7.8.5.0 premium, or Reloaded premium edition? Or it must be bought separately?

The "Scenarist Nav Filter" can open EVO files directly and will connect to the Sonic decoders. Have you tried that with a rebuilt EVO where TrueHD is the only audio track?

Currently I'am trying what you advised, and yes: i'am using an evob which contains only a truehd track.
MOD: i installed sonic scenarist 4.12, but I cannot found any "Scenarist Nav Filter" in the directshow filters of graphedit.

Confirm. Yes i also have those GreyFrames in the beginning...
I just did another movie, but this time, no grey frames at the beginning. Very strange. I think it might be something to do with the the decoder. I was using Intervideo's h.264 decoder, but I switched to CoreAVC, which doesn't have the problem. What decoder are you using spawnguy?

The problem is that while I do get 5.1 from my receiver it is at a lower pitch for some reason.

Hi folks,
I'm trying to convert 2 DD+ audio tracks from an EVO file (from King Kong HD-DVD), and it seems to be working for one of them only.
When reading the EVO file with EVOdemux, here is what I get :
Dolby Digital Plus audio stream 1 found!
First PTS = 00000D8E
Substream id = C1
Stream 1 is Dolby Digital Plus
frame size = 1536 bytes, number of blocks per frame = 6
Sampling frequency = 48 kHz
Transmission bitrate = 384 kbit/s
Channel arrangement = L + R + C + Ls + Rs, bsid = 16
LFE channel = present
Dolby Digital Plus audio stream 0 found!
First PTS = 00016D78 (+1001ms)
Substream id = C0
Stream 0 is Dolby Digital Plus
frame size = 1024 bytes, number of blocks per frame = 1
Sampling frequency = 48 kHz
Transmission bitrate = 1536 kbit/s
Channel arrangement = L + R + C + Ls + Rs, bsid = 16
LFE channel = present
(you can see the differences in bold)
eac3to can convert the file generated by stream 1, not the one generated by stream 0 ("The source file format is unknown").
Is it a known eac3to (or Orbitlee's filter) limitation ?
Or even an EVOdemux bug ?
Thanx !

Ok, I found a "working" combination.
Haali Simple Splitter ==> Nero Audio Decoder 2 (using SPDIF out) ==> AC3 Filter ==> Default audio (renderer).
This one finally gives me 5.1 at the correct pitch but there is one catch. Everytime I open the graph I need to go to the NERO filter and select the SPDIF because it wont save the setting.
I assume this means if I do the avs script to convert to wmv, I wont get any audio right? Is there anyway to configure the NERO audio filter to have SPDIF checked by default?

Using Scenarist Nav Filter on a rebuilt EVO with only one audio track (TrueHD), I get silence.
Then we have to get a Nero BD/HD plugin, and trying with that. Currently I got "this is for a newver version of nero" error, when I try to insert the serial, but I using the very latest edition. I tryed with latest Encanched, Premium, essentials ediition, and encanched reloaded edition, and the latest I downloaded from nero.com, but it always said the above error message. Nero update won't work in any versions.

Back to my concern : ACrowley had the same problem (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=976372#post976372).
So I did like him and it worked : converted each file separately and merged the 2 resulting AC3 files.
At first I tried to replace eac3to.exe by running the graph DD+>Sonic Audio>Dump in GraphEdit but after exactly 9GB written, GraphEdit crashed (tested 2 times).
Conclusion : both eac3to and GraphEdit are unable to properly handle very big DD+ files.

I don't think so. eac3to should have no general problem with big DD+ files. The error message you reported ("The source file format is unknown") means that probably the DD+ file you fed to eac3to was corrupt.

So you think that the problem comes from EVOdemux ?
Mmh I don't think so, because :
1) I've done a second demux with another tool (HD-DVD demuxer 1.2) and the resulting DD+ audio file has exactly the same size
2) The error message from EAC3to is exactly the same when opening this alternate file
That's why I think the pb comes from EAC3to (thanks for this great tool BTW).
Unless EVOdemux and HD-DVD demuxer share the same demuxing code...

Could you send me the first few MBs of that DD+ file, so I can find out what going on?
I could, but it would be useless, since the concern is about the file size. As I told above, if I split the file into 2 parts, each part can be converted with eac3to without any pb.
Actually, maybe I know what's wrong.
The file size is 2 158 490 624 bytes, which exceeds a signed 32 bits integer capacity (2 147 483 648 bytes).
So I think somewhere in your code you use a signed long integer to handle the file size, which turns into a negative number on my big file, leading to the "The source file format is unknown" error message.
If I'm right, using a 32 bits unsigned integer or even better a 64 bits integer should be the solution.

Remuxed EVOB->gdsmux to MKV->mkvtoolnix(timecodes)->graphedit

#RemoveGrain(mode=2)
crop(0,132,1920,792)
Lanczos4Resize(1280,528)
}
and then fed .avs to x264...
in my First Encode(without RemoveGrain(mode=2)) i have something like (3blackframes at the beginning.. then 15grey frames, 2black,1grey,1black,1gray,1black,1grey.. and then normal video)
second one i encoded is WITH Remove grain.. and there those grey frames are flashing for like 3seconds in the beginning...
it was reported that this occurs when decoded with "WMVideo Decoder DMO" (i have XP).. and also this decoder produces GreenFramse(something like 3 or 4) when randomly searched through video.. when i was testing my .avs. but the they vanish.. after that..
i guess the is no such problem when decoded with Sonic's Decoder... but i could not produce a working AVS sript(so i dropped that)

Shaolin,
Using this setup I generally dump the audio stream to a .raw with dump filter, and work with it from here. just replace the audio renderer & ac3 filter with dump filter. use sox to create a 16/24bit wave, and then either seperate it to its mono channels with wavewizard/tranzcode/soundforge/etc, and in your case recode it with wm audio encoder, or use file source/async filter to load the wav into graphedit, and select a decoder, then load the graph into your avs, along with the video, using two directshowsource() functions, one with audio=false, one with video=false, that way i suppose you can tell the encoder it is dealing with a muxed file.
there is plenty of ways to achieve what you want, its just a matter of what works, the problem ive found with dealing with hddvd/bluray movies is there is no consistency to what filter orders give a correct output and what dont, in most cases this method works a charm, just ensure you take note when demuxing a hddvd for example, of the starting address for the audio & video, cause they aren't always the same, and you can work out the delay if present by taking the difference of both. it's all been said before many many pages ago! One movie I couldn't seem to get the audio muxed in sync was Perfume, the english audio was out of sync horribly, but the french was in sync perfect both using the dts-hd streams.
any questions, just throw me a pm ;)

Using the HDTV Dump filter, as Chumbo adviced, does not solve this issue. So the bug is either in Orbitlee's DD+ filter or in Sonic Audio Decoder filter.
Damned !

Just noticed your KK problem.
I encountered an error in BeHappy while reencoding with a graph using Orbitlee's DD+ filter (the error happened when reaching the last 2 min of the movie).
Using FileSource(Async) -> Sonic HD Demuxer -> Sonic Audio Decoder did the job correctly, though.

Hmmmm... So the problem seems to be Orbitlee's DD+ filter? I guess I should add support for the Sonic HD Demuxer to eac3to...

No, because the HD Demuxer must be fed with an EVO stream, not a DD+ stream.
A good solution would be to debug the DD+ filter, but Orbitlee just did a patch to the original Gabest AC3 filter, which may not support big files. Debugging it can prove to be difficult...

If you're talking about Sonic HD Demuxer, it can be fed with a DD+ track (or with a DTHD track, even if we can't do anything with it right now).
When I was talking about FileSource(async), I meant the demuxed DD+ track, not the EVO.

Really ?
I can't connect the 2 filters.
Is there a hint to know ?

Does your demuxed DD+ Track have the .ddp or .ac3 extension ? I think the file extension is important for Sonic (.ddp/.ac3 for DD+, .mlp for MLP/DTHD, .dts for DTS and DTS-HD, etc...). I always use .ddp for DD+ tracks, and pas de lézards so far.

Well done ! Ca le fait :)
I tried EAC3 and MPA extensions, but not DDP.
It works fine this way, so yes madshi you can consider replacing the DD+ filter by File Async + Sonic HD Demuxer in the graph used by EAC3to. You just have to impose DDP extension for the DD+ input file.
Also madshi, could it be possible to allow RAW files as an input for EAC3to ? OK it's not very useful, just more flexible ;) This way one could use GraphEdit to generate a RAW file with the filters he wants and then convert it to AC3 with your tool. It would be more convenient than learning how to use sox and aften.
:thanks: everybody

Will do. And thanks to Darth Pinous for finding out about that the file extension is important.

I once had this in eac3to. The problem is that when only having the raw file there's no way for eac3to to find out how many channels are in the file and what bitdepth it being used (16bit or 24bit). That's why I removed RAW input support.

Hi
I have a little Problem with lpcm to wave
I want to get 6 mono waves from a 6CH 16bit lpcm from BluRay ( TearsO.T.Sun)
Demux with Xport ( also tried with graphedit)
Then convert the demuxed Track from Xport to a 6ch wave
with Sox :
sox.exe -r48000 -t .raw -c 6 -2 -s g:\lpcm.mpa g:\lpcm1.wav
But :
I cant get a working wave. The Output from Sox is only a loud cracking noise
Is there another Way to simply add a wave header?
Target is LPCM to Wave to 6 mono waves to whatever
Any Advice ?

xport LPCM export are Big Endian, so try this to force it :
sox.exe -B -r48000 -t .raw -c 6 -2 -s g:\lpcm.mpa g:\lpcm1.wav
you should have a working WAV that you can send to WaveWizard (or other) to make 6 mono waves.

Ah, ok i understand..didnt know that its BigEndian
What channelmapping in wavewizard ?
EDIT:
Mhh, the wave from Sox has no Center/Dialog ?

Also, for those command line interface junkies out there, Tranzcode will split a multichannel .wav to mono waves.

i usually use Tranzcode..
Mhh...Tranzcode will not work on the wave from Sox ?
It runs 1sec and its 100%...waves are zero
I will use to get 6 monos with channelmapping with Nuendo..works
EDIT:
I made 6 16bit mono waves from the Sox wave with Nuendo3.2.
Then a encode to WMA10Pro 768kbps 24bit 5.1...sound perfect und is sync with my WVC1 encode
