What a mess!
Is this a commercial movie?
I guess your file is broken because it contains very strange things...
Missing headers, packets lots of zero byte fields, etc....

I just used drmpeg's head program:
head.exe feature_1.evo cut.evo 30000000
That's all

Is it possible that whole evo file is broken?

And yes, it normal movie, The Rundown.

If you any tool i can use for cutting evo file, just let me know and i will post new part :)

You can cut with EVOdemux Rebuild function, but I don't think the problem is about cutting.
I think that is a broken file.
The EVOs have a structure with packs (2048 bytes), it hasn't.

Hi again...

Sorry for the OT question, but here it goes:

Does anyone know how to register .ax filters in Vista 32 Bit? Iīve tried regsvr32 and few filter managers but none of them gets the job done...

Can anyone please help?
Thanks.

Is there any way that I can set the out dir to something other than the source dir?

Michal, maybe something went wrong with the decryption?

zgx: Thanks. Maybe I have an old haali splitter - the version I am currently using is 1.7.100.18, which is only a week or two old.

zgx, maybe try adding the FFDShow Audio Processor after the Sonic Audio Decoder? I found that fixed my sync problems with WavPack streams in an MKV.

Okay. I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but I just successfully ripped/decrypted a Blu-Ray movie (Chronicles of Riddick). How do I get it into a format that can be easily read by most encoders (VirtualDub, XviD4PSP, etc. etc.)? I'm gonna recompress it in VC-1 to DVD-9 size and see what it looks like on my 360. Thanks very much.

P.S. I just have a bunch of .evo files (Enchanced VOBs?).

I just tried it again - and now magically Sonic Cinemaster Audio Decoder 4.2 is working again with MKVs!

Geez - I've been wasting all this time converting to FLAC and WavPack!

But - I will see if I can duplicate the sync problems you are having zgx.

Rectal Prolapse
16th March 2007, 02:57
zgx, I cannot duplicate the sync problems with VC-1 and DD+ (640 kbps) tracks. I used EVODemux 0.624b and rebuilt the Harry Potter Gobbbbles of Fire. No problems playing back with Haali Media Splitter 1.7.100.18. The filter graph looks exactly like yours, using the WMVideo DMO Decoder filter from WMP11. Playback was done in TheaterTek by means of the .grf file I made. What player are you using? I find that GraphEdit is kind of finicky - I think I detected a slight lipsync problem after seeking around with it.

The only difference is that I have Reclock replacing DirectSound renderer.

Try reinstalling Haali?

Oh - what is the bitrate of the DD+ soundtrack? Maybe it is a problem with the Sonic decoder - it may not like the bitrate of your soundtrack!

I checked the sample, looks like there are some garbage before the first audio frame. You should use hex editor to remove all bytes before the blue block (start with 0B 77)

@Pelican9, Is it possible that EVO contains partial audio frame in the first 2048 bytes pack?

Cool, this actually works!!! I demuxed mpa file again and removed everything before this sequence and now i am able to load it into your filter.
And vc1 track is completely fine, i watched the beginning of it and there is no problem inside. Also subtitles were correctly demuxed and converted by supread (many thanks to Pelican for new OCR procedure)

@Rectal Prolapse:
Thanks for all your support. I will try using "FFDShow Audio Processor" as you suggested and I will also reinstall Haali and give Reclock a try.

The DD+ track does have a high bitrate (1500 Kbps) but it does play normally when I just mux it to a MKA file.

I have tried playing stuff back both in Graphedit and in ZoomPlayer and I get the same problem with sync.

It seams that the movie runs somewhat in slowmotion and that the audio plays as it should.

@madshi:
I have tried muxing files both in Graphedit with Haali Matroska Muxer, in gdsmux and with mkvmerge (both official version and pre versions). I have a MKV with just the video but it also seams to play somewhat in slowmotion for me. When I get home later I can upload a sample.. might be just a playback issue I'm having.

I think I have discovered a problem with the Cineplayer decoder pack 4.2. My demuxed vc1 is from a 2 hour movie (Training Day) if I play the VC1 in MPC with Cinemaster 4.1 it displays the correct running time, however if I install Cinemaster 4.2 it displays a running time of 1 hour 27 minutes! The real problem is not the running time itself, which can easily be changed with the use of avisynth but the fact that the number of frames is wrong. EVODemux reports the framecount as 175677 which when added to a script

directshowsource("F:\TrainingDay\Demuxed\TD.vc1",fps=23.976,audio=false,seekzero=false,seek=true).trim(0,175677)

and used with Cinemaster 4.1 correctly displays it's 2 hour 2 minute running time. The moment Cinemaster 4.2 is installed the framecount is reported as 125375 and a running time of 1 hour 27 minutes! I have tried changing the fps in the avisynth script to 29.97 just to see whether it is a pulldown issue, but that causes the frame count to be registered as 156719, still with a running time of 1 hour 27 minutes.

I don't think this is a bug per say, just the way the decoder handles the footage. If I play back the VC1 in MPC, it plays perfectly and continues on after the timecode stops untill the end of the movie. My quandry now is what version to have installed because although 4.1 enables me to correctly open the video in an encoder such as Mainconcept's h264 offering, the hardware acceleration does not work and the audio decoders do not work for transcoding DD+. 4.2 on the other hand will not allow me re-encode the video properly, but does provide the ability to smoothly play back VC1s, simulate smoothly in Scenarist 4.1 thanks to the fixed hardware acceleration and transcode DD+.

My first question I suppose is; can anyone replicate this issue?

Hi guys,
I stopped looking at this thread for several weeks now and don't want to read all that posts.
First of all, many thanks for what everybody has been doing here so far, its a real great coommunity.

Now my question:
Is there now a possibility to playback VC-1 correct with Media Player Classic.
If yes, how can I manage this?

Thank you very much.

I just wanted to help by reporting the following using EVOdemux. The first is with 0.623 and the latter is with 0.624b. Note the differences in counted frames when the evo file is analyzed completely (first set) and after it's demuxed (last set):

Harry Potter and Goblet of Fire
226024 counted frames (2:37:07.084) in video stream 0.
225986 calculated frames (2:37:05:499) in video stream 0.
259252 counted frames (3:00:12.969) in video stream 1.
225986 calculated frames (2:37:05:499) in video stream 1.

Demuxing...
Done.

226026 counted frames (2:37:07.168) in video stream 0.
225986 calculated frames (2:37:05:499) in video stream 0.
225986 calculated frames (2:37:05:499) in video stream 1.

Batman Begins
201536 counted frames (2:20:05.731) in video stream 0.
201467 calculated frames (2:20:02:844) in video stream 0.
251725 counted frames (2:54:59.030) in video stream 1.
201467 calculated frames (2:20:02:844) in video stream 1.

Demuxing...
Done.

201539 counted frames (2:20:05.856) in video stream 0.
201467 calculated frames (2:20:02:844) in video stream 0.
201467 calculated frames (2:20:02:844) in video stream 1.

I didn't know if this would cause a big concern or problem, but I hope it helps to report it.

Also, for those of you who use the framecount in an avs script, which figure do you normally use, i.e., counted or calculated?

[EDIT] Here's the counts for MI3 which are correct on both counts (pun intended ;)):
180468 counted frames (2:05:27.019) in video stream 0.
180393 calculated frames (2:05:23:883) in video stream 0.
225312 counted frames (2:36:37.388) in video stream 1.
180393 calculated frames (2:05:23:883) in video stream 1.

Demuxing...
Done.

180468 counted frames (2:05:27.019) in video stream 0.
180393 calculated frames (2:05:23:883) in video stream 0.
180393 calculated frames (2:05:23:883) in video stream 1.

btw, in all cases I did NOT demux video stream 1 but it still showed up in the demux info. It would be a good idea to remove it from the output if it's not selected. Just a suggestion. :)

i can however play the original ripped evo stream with media player including the DD+ track. In order to play DD+ in MPC you need to use "Sonic Cinemaster Audio Decoder 4.2" to decode it. Set it as your normal "AC3" decoder as that is what your player thinks the DD+ track is.

Has anyone managed to get the correct number of video frames (as read by EVODemux) recognised using software such as Virtualdubmod since installing Cineplayer 4.2 (the software that contains cinemaster audio decoder 4.2)

Hi

@clownshoes

I dont have any Problemīs with Sonic 4.2 Video Decoder and AudioDecoder.

Calculated Framcount works like a charm .
I always get the correct calculated Framecount with no wrong Frames, so the Movies ends up with the right last Frame

About mkvmerge :
I have little Problems to with my x264 reencodes and DD+ Audio muxed with mkv merge.
The Beta works "always" perfect.
The Trick with the latest from 7.3.07 is to set the default Flag on the DD+ Track
"Default Track Flag" on "yes"

I hope it helps

Hi Crowley,

I am very confused now. I have tested this out now on several machines, always with the same result. Once Cineplayer 4.2 is installed the frame rate and frame count changes, once I uninstall and go back to 4.1 the problem is solved. This is very weird as the cause is obviously Cineplayer but no one else is reporting the same problem.

Is Filtergraph opening your VC1 with cinemaster video decoder 4.2? I'm wondering if other people have a different video decoder installed that is opening these files. I do not have anything like WinDVD or PowerDVD installed.

Crowley, can you tell me what other filters you are using?

Crowley, can you tell me what other filters you are using?

i always build the graph manually from demuxed VC1 Evo

Filesource - ElecardMpegDemultiplexer - Sonic 4.2

Which Demultiplexer are you using ?
Better use ElecardMpegDemultiplexer ,from latest Xmuxer vers 1.0.77 Build 60823 ,works perefct.
It Detects correctly the VC1 Video Pin and transmits to Sonic

In Avisynth :
DirectShowSource("G:\MI3.grf",fps=23.976,framecount=180393,seekzero=false,seek=true,audio=false)

BUT, i dont use VdubMod...maybe your wrong Runtime is caused by Vdub Mod !
In AVSP Editor and Megui everything works

The other Way without Framecount Value etc is to mux the VC1 EVO in mkv and use it for Directshowsource Input .
The graph connects to WMVideoDecoder DMO ( WMP11 Codec only)
So you need only Directshowsource(xxx.grf ,audio=false,fps=23.976)

@Chumbo
"Calculated" Frames is the correct one. Counted Frames is only the "raw Amount" of Frames

i may have missed an answer to this - this thread is fairly long now.

i have one ddp track that is plain weird!

i can play it back if i skip forward. if i leave it alone it sticks on 0 seconds in and thats it.

wouldnt load via directshowsource or anything. gave me that damn - the filter graph manager won't talk to me message.

graph was

DDP file -> sonic 4.2 audio -> directsound.

same issue with this. no sound unless i skip forward :(

Your xport.exe writes output files in the same dir as the source file by default.
Is there any way that I can set the out dir to something other than the source dir?
You can get around that by running xport from a location in the path. Copy xport.exe to system32 for example.

Go to your TARGET folder and run xport from there feeding it the full path of your source and voila! Make sure to use quotes if your source path has spaces in the name.

A question to orbitlee:

Your modded filter works great for DD+ files. However, it doesn't handle conventional AC3 files very well (in combination with AC3Filter) - and unfortunately blocking your modded filter in MPC doesn't seem to work for me. So I have to unregister/register your filter all the time. Would it be possible to change the filter so that it handles *only* DD+ files but no AC3/DTS files? That would be the best solution IMHO, cause then we had a perfectly working filter for DD+ and could use whatever other filter works best for conventional AC3 and DTS files. What do you think?

Thanks!

@madshi: I just collected a set of AC3/DTS samples with different bitrate and try to fix the bug. If this still does not work, I will trim the source filter to DD+ only. Be patient.

For other peoples have difficult on connecting audio decoder to source filter or demuxer, try to download mfc71.dll from www.dll-files.com and drop into windows system32 folders. Quite a few people confirmed this works.

idamien,

i dont use the haali media splitter to play back evos,

i use file source (async) to sonic HD Demuxer, to sonic video 4.2 and audio 4.2... video to video renderer 9, audio to default direct sound...

then u select the audio track u want to listen to in the sonic HD demuxer

I get PERFECT playback in zoomplayer

i made some evo profiles, since the sonic decoders do all formats, mpeg2, dd+,ac3,dts... its just perfect for all .evo playing

i still use powerdvd, if i want to use the hd-dvd's features
but i can also browse and play each .evo

mhhh, very strange What error Message did you get from Sonic ?

Have you a YV12 Passthrough Codec on your System ?
like Helix oder Divx ?

Hi Crowley, my avisynth error reads;

Avisynth open failure:
DirectShowSource: GRF file does not have a compatible open video pin.
Graph must have 1 output pin that will bid RGB24, RGB32, ARGB, YUY2 or YV12

As far as YV12 passthrough goes, does FFdshow not suffice?

Hi

Thanks to Pelican for this amazing work on Evodemux.
Just looking at post for ripping sub from HD-DVD , took SupRead, works great

Just a question : is that possible to rebuild EVO with a .srt subtitle created from Supread after OCR conversion ?

'Cause I'm French, I hate french dubbed language and prefer to keep original tracks with subtitles ;)

When I'm using Rebuild in Evodemux with VC1, one DD+ track and one subtitle, no sub appears in the final evo result.

Thanks ;)

@mitchjs

Many thanks for the quick answer, mitch.

Thanks for the hint... I had not done this the first time I tried going thru Sonic HD Demuxer. But I did just now and unfortunately the same error persists.

Iīm wondering if this is a Vista issue...?

Thanks anyway for the quick reply, Iīll keep on reading and trying.

@Orbitlee

Thanks for the hint...

Already had the file mfc71.dll in my system32 folder. Anyway, tried downloading from the indicated site and the download appears to be the same version I have. Same problem pops up.

Tried also your DD+ source filter going thru Sonic HD Demuxer and going directly to Sonic Cinemaster Audio Decoder 4.2. Neither worked... Same error...

Many thanks anyhow.

I think, you should edit the XPL file to match the rebuilt EVO.

I will test that , thanks ;)
But the xpl link to .map .. no to .evo , and the result is one big evo compared to the split original evo ..
But I will test !

Maybe you are right.
I need more info about map files to rebuild them too.
But now, I'm working on SUPread.

Edit.: I've made a new function in EVOdemux (http://pel.hu/down/EVOdemux.exe).
There is a new option: 'Rebuild ADV_PCKs'
If you check it, the rebuilt EVO will contain the Advanced packets, if not it won't.

Hey guys I tried to get eac3to to work and had trouble. I then realized I have Sonic's Audio Decoder 4.1, it says you need decoder 4.2.... Where would I be able to find the newer version of the decoder?

Did you try one of those search engines? [/vague]

Search engines can't really help me, I'm running WinXP Media Center Edition and you can't install Sonic's stuff on it, in order for me to be able to install the filters.

EDIT: n/m got em.
