You need to change your filter priorities, so that when drop your file into graphedit, DTS AC3 DD+ Source--> Cinemaster audio decoder 4.2, is automatically chosen!
Use mpc to change priorities!

Just noticed that evodemux is off by 9 frames on Goodfellas HD DVD. EVO muxed into mkv shows 209243 frames, and evodemux says 209352 frames. Only 9 frames, so I didn't mind, but thought I'd point it out(still a great app tho Pelican9). Could be because I only had it check the first 300mb of each evo tho.

I saw in Jokin's post The Good Shepherd has only five frames difference... Not bad. :-)

It doesn't default to using the sonic audio decoder however, and if I try to use it instead of power dvd's, it gives me an error.
any ideas?
You need to have a file called mfc71.dll in your system, e. g. in Windows\System32.
Do you have this file? If not, you can leech it off http://www.dll-files.com/

that didnt change the default when i open the file with graphedit, and mpc still crashes when attempting to play the file.

I also put that mfc71.dll file into my C:\windows\system32\ dir but that didn't change anything. :(

mpc still crashes when attempting to play the file.
There are about a million of reasons why that could happen. Mostly related to file source/splitter issues. Are you using the latest build of MPC? (Not the latest final release!)
Are you familiar with the configuration of external filters in MPC?

as you can see, eac3to obviously recognizes the file, but yet fails to do anything with it.

heres the first 50mb of the file in an mkv container: ftp://ftp:roflcopter666@72.49.176.178:47024/audiosample-001.mkv (if this link gives you trouble, try using a real ftp client like flashfxp, firefox/IE suck at ftp and opera is even worse. However, just pasting it into windows explorer should work.)
Let me guess: You've just renamed the "mkv" file to "eac3" and fed that to eac3to? That doesn't work, of course! A "mkv" file is no "eac3" file! The eac3 track is inside the mkv file, but there's a package around the eac3 track. That's why the Sonic Audio Decoder won't accept the file. I'm a bit confused why eac3to accepts the file in the first place, but anyway, renaming "mkv" to "eac3" doesn't make any sense. What you can do is use GraphEdit "Haali Simple Media Splitter (give in the mkv file as the source file) -> Dump (enter an eac3 output name)". This will extract the eac3 track from the mkv file into a new eac3 file. And THIS file can then be converted to ac3 by using eac3to.

Tried demuxing the first track of Ghost In The Shell 2: Innocence with xport 0.95 and got a 2.2 GB file.

Then I tried using dtscore to extract the core DTS track from the original but someone here on the forum informed me this track is simple DTS and not DTS-HD...

Well, the next step was trying to feed the DTS track to BeHappy to convert to FF AAC but BeHappy isn´t happy with the track and reports it not to be a DTS track.

Can anyone please give me any pointers? Am I doing something wrong? Isn´t the track DTS?

Thanks

Bug: Demuxing of Bourne Supremacy doesn't work. Crashes with "Access violation at address 00491F74 in module 'EVOdemux.exe'. Read of address 00000008".
This one has 32 subtitle streams. It crashes after creating 0Byte files for s00-s16 (and audio/video streams). Rebuild works but demux also crashes when used on the rebuild evo.

no, i used gdsmux to get the eac3 track out of the mkv. The clip i posted for download was just a 50mb chunk created with mkvmerge. I can't even get sonic audio decoder to connect to the file in graph edit, it give me that error message i posted a screen show of a couple posts back.

The .eac3 file i obtain when doing the method you suggested crashes mpc (which reads it as a 20 hour audio clip when its ~2), vlc doesn't do anything with it, and sonic audio decoder still can't be connected to it in graphedit. However, the default decoder for it isnt cyberlinks anymore, its intervideo's, but the file doesn't play anyway.

however, when i tell eac3to to encode the file, it no longer gives me the pervious error, now it says "connecting pins (1) failed"

Oh dear, you have a steep learning curve ahead of you. Since detailed instructions would be off-topic in this thread, I will only point out that in order to use external filters in MPC, you will need to disable the respective internal filters first. Otherwise what you set for preferences in the external filter section will have no effect whatsoever.

And i would assume that im using the latest version,

Hi all,

I've been watching this thread for a while now as I've been trying to convert an HD DVD into something more managible on my HDD (and also into 720P since that's the limit if my TV).
I always get an issue when I convert a vc1 file into something else like Divx HD, or X264, as random frames seem to get added every few minutes. I've tried using elecard and sonic demuxer, but to no avail.
I'm unable to create a graph using the WMVideo Decoder DMO that works, so I was wondering if this is a codec issue?
Has anyone tried the Nero codecs/plugins? (http://www.nero.com/eng/Blu_Ray_Plugin.html)
I wanted to see if anyone has any info on these working before I shell out money?

Thanks,

Robin.

Yes i did... and did it "just to test if.." and NO, the Does not,.. i couldn't connect nor FileInput->Demuxer->something from Nero.. nor Haali Splitter->something of Nero..
with VC-1 video of course,.. i guess Nero as h264Decoder will do,.. but i prefer to use "more another" decoders...

I've had the same thing happen to me. It usually fixes itself quickly tho(as in, if you play the video from that part, the green blocks disappear).

One problem I've consistently had is that all of the encodes I've made have a sequence at the very beginning of the film where grey frames pop up quickly. This only lasts for 1/2s, and I could probably trim it, but there doesn't seem to be a set length, nor could I figure out what was causing it. Anyone else having the same problem?

Just to be totally clear, the first second of each encode looks like this:

BBBGBBBBGBBBGBBBGBBBBB....(start of movie)

Where B represents a frame that is completely black, and G represents a frame that is completely gray.

1) Use xport or graphedit to dump the raw LPCM track.
2) Use sox to transform the raw file in a WAV-EXT file.
3) Load the WAV-EXT file in Wavewizard to convert it to 6 mono waves (you need to check the "stream manipulation" and "mono streams" options).

That's one way to do it...

At least some progress. That's better than what you got before. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the Sonic Cinepack. Maybe that helps?

When I add the DTS/AC3/DD+ source filter to the external filter list and try to play the file, MPC defaults to the intervideo audio decoder. with this filter, MPC can read the file length correctly, but it "plays" it slowly, it takes about 10 seconds for the poisition to advance 1 second.

When I add intervideo's audio decoder to the external filter list and block it, then try to play the file, MPC defaults to the cyberlink audio decoder. With this filter, MPC "plays" the file at regular speed, but there is no sound.

When I add cyberlink's audio decoder to the list and block it, MPC crashes when trying to play the file.

uninstalling and reinstalling the sonic hd decoder pack didn't do anything :(

Is there any progress with Dolby TrueHD?

We are trying to prepare for the Matrix trilogy, but there is only one audio codec, which we cannot reencode to DTS, and this is TrueHD.

Any idea about that? (If we can decode TrueHD to 6 mono wavs, it is enough for us :-) )

If anyone can advise a good DTS encoder (now we are using nuendo), which is "accessible", it also will appreciated.

Thanks!

gah, how confusing. mine is indeed march 06. I just downloaded the one dated 12-24-06.

MPC no longer crashes when using the DTS/AC3/DD+ source filter, it "plays" the file, but there is no sound.

Setting sonic audio decoder to highest on the list still causes MPC to crash however :(.

I think I give up on this EAC3 file, im just going to rip my dvd of serenity, steal the ac3 from that and mux it to my h264 encode of serenity from the hd-dvd. This isn't worth the trouble.

EDIT: ah, that took a whole of 20 minutes. why didn't i do this in the first place? :D

seem to have a bug with the new ms result from PTS. this is from the 2nd PEVOB file, the first PEVOB file count was correct but this one seems very wrong?

Dolby Digital Plus audio stream 0 found!
First PTS = 1F475C30 (+47721776ms)

i worked out 1F475C30 to be +58307816ms from that file, and my muxed file would seem to say it is correct as the audio is synced with a -81ms delay to the video.

anyways i also thought it would be cool if demux worked out the video PTS aswell as it doesnt seem to be outputted that i see anyways :)

thx all the same for a great app :)

NOTE: ok it seems to give the correct ms if you process all EVO files at once, but if you load just the 2nd one on its own it gives a bugged ms result even tho the PTS result is correct.

nero filters have protection on them, to use the majority of them in graphedit, you need to rename graphedt.exe to recode.exe, and it will let you use the majority of the nero codecs, I paid for the blurray/hddvd plugin for nero, its worth the 15 euro i paid for it, plays back hddvd/bluray magnificently, decodes eac3 in program, as well as cores the DTSHD (no program has support for this yet)

you'll have to block a lot of filters, ie sonic video decoder as that screws mpc up. I tried out scanner darkly hddvd, and that plays great, as well as the good shepherd hddvd & casino royale bluray.

all play perfectly.

this is how my filter order looks.

Just so you know i'm not talking out of my ears, I've never tried using it this way as if i want to playback hddvd/bluray I just use nero showtime w/ the bluray/hddvd plugin I was forced to purchase! LOL but i think it was well worth the money i spent, best value and use i've ever gotten out of playback software, most interestingly out of Ahead.

Michael

Edit: With Nero Showtime I just select Play Media From Folder point it at the HDDVD or Bluray Folder and it plays back with full menus, everything, if you are looking to use these filters for encoding, it might be a different story, as I've mucked around a bit trying to load the filter graph in megui, and without renaming megui to recode.exe, (not sure if it well mess up dynamic link library access and what not), Ahead's digital protection kicks in and doesn't let me load the audio/video decoder HD filters...thats something to try another time.

I've had the same thing happen to me. It usually fixes itself quickly tho(as in, if you play the video from that part, the green blocks disappear). i'm cirrently looking through video to search for greenEncoded frames...

Confirm. Yes i also have those GreyFrames in the beginning...

Open the EVO.
Open the XPL.
Read the XPL.
Write chapters.

Thanks, worked.. then .txt to ChapterGrabber.2.3 (nice proggy to edit chapter-Files.. and to paste Chapter names from clipboard) .. http://video.barnesandnoble.com ... search for title, copy chapternames.. paste , save.. and we have proper chapters.txt file..

but one fix request in EVOdemux.. could you save chapters .txt or into Output folder or show SaveDialog...
'cause, i was a bit confused whrn found chapters.txt in Input-EVO folder...

I just had the time now so I tried it out, and what do you know, it works very nicely when i rename media player classic to recode.exe.

you'll have to block a lot of filters, ie sonic video decoder as that screws mpc up. I tried out scanner darkly hddvd, and that plays great, as well as the good shepherd hddvd & casino royale bluray.

all play perfectly.

Thanks Mike for all these information. I am not sure, I will go for the decoder since I need first to buy the Nero 7 pack which is quite expensive.

Have you tested the performance of the VC1 decoder in software mode (that is followed for instance by ffdshow) compared to the Windows Media decoder?

Deep,

Well nero decoders use DXVA (2 i presume), for vc1/h264 playback so the performance is very good and is threaded (in my case : core2duo e6600 clocked at 3.4ghz, it seems to be about 30-40% cpu avg across both cores for hd dvd/bluray playback), I'll try and give you a better comparison on cpu/ram use later today, I need to reinstall nero now as showtime won't playback since I screwed with the filters in media player classic.

Michael

Edit: Turns out it was Nvidia's new forceware 165.01 that broke the PurevideoHD, as with 158.18 it works again. Performance is about 25-30% cpu with nero showtime & dxva.

Because nobody answered to my truehd question, I try to figure out a way myself to decode the trueHD tracks to wav.

First I tryed to demux the mlp track, and use it in graphedit. It won't work.

Second I tryed to put the evob in graphedit, then Sonic Audio decoder 4.2, then Directsound out. This give me sound, and I can change audio tracks with matroska spiltter. But its not good, because the second part of the evob is out of sight with this method.

So now I trying to remux the evob with just the one mlp(truehd) track inside to one evob, then put this into graphedit.

My question is: if I change - in the second version - the directsound output to Dump filter, I get a raw file, which can be used with SoX to convert it to wavs?
If not, which filter should I use to get a raw or wav output?

Second question: this mlp track is like on DVD-A discs?

MOD: the second version it seems a dead end, because the evob contains 5 audio tracks only one of them is truehd(mlp), but in the matroska splitter I can select only 4 of them.
Anyway, a trying with the remux.

pdvd 6.5 HD can decode truehd track. Is there any way to use pdvd directshow filters to get raw or wav files?

MOD2: I remuxed the truehd track to an evob (it contains only the truehd track). I tryed it in pdvd 6.5 hd, it recoginzed as a truehd 5.1 track, and it plays it fine (at the end, it won't stop playing, this is because the missing map file perhaps, but pdvd won't crashed.).

I tryed to open this evob in grpahedit(render media files), but it won't open. (unknown error). I tryed to rename graphedit.exe to powerDVD.exe, but also won't open.

Now I'am stucked. Any idea how to continue?

It seems that graphedit (--> render media file ) trying to open the evob with halli splitter, which is currently not supporting truehd tracks. Is there any way to open evob with graphedit without halli splitter?

You need to change your filter priorities, so that when drop your file into graphedit, DTS AC3 DD+ Source--> Cinemaster audio decoder 4.2, is automatically chosen!
Use mpc to change priorities!

-kalin

Filter priorities can be changed directly with this tool. No MPC tricks needed. Just set the "merit" of the filter you want to use and make it higher than the filters you don't want to use. http://www.softella.com/dsfm/index.en.htm
