V 0.40 - Well I knew I should not have said my Alcohol ISOs worked fine. Just got the "Run-time '75':Path/file access error" on rebuild using rejig.
/ADD: definitely something to do with dvd-rb and a mounted ISO. I used winrar to extract the ISO to a directory and changed the source path in DVD-RB to it. Rebuilding is proceeding well now.
/Add: Nah, didn't work. "buffer overflow 0003"
I've verified no other DVD software I have has any problem with this mounted ISO except dvd-rb.

Be careful while extracting isos with winrar!. I used it in the past to extract iso images and sometimes files get corrupted!

1. DVD-R Version: 0.40
2. Encoder being used: CCE SP 2.67.00.23
3. Using eclCCE? Y - 1.8b
4. Bug encountered:
Backing up PAL (UK) version of Tomb Raider 2 - encoding went fine - lasted more than 400 mins but then got "DVD Rebuilder experienced a buffer overflow. Error #0004. Process must abort." followed by "Stop statement encountered". The same thing happened with 0.39.
This occurred at 96.1% of rebuilding. The top progress bar had just reached 100% for "Rebuilding segment 6 VOBID:1 CELLID:7".
If I look in the VIDEO_TS folder there's only the last VOB file missing - VTS_12_1.VOB so I assume this is causing the problem. Heres the main part of the VTS_12_0.IFO file:
PGC_1 (program chain) : [Title(TTN0 : 1] [00:03:35:00 / 25fps] (Programs:2) (Cells:2) (uses VOB-IDs:1)
[Ch 01] [Pg 01] [Cell 01] [V/C Id: 1/1] :time: 00:03:34:14 / 25fps [Pos 00:03:34:14] [Frames:5364]
[Ch 02] [Pg 02] [Cell 02] [V/C Id: 1/2] :time: 00:00:00:11 / 25fps [Pos 00:03:35:00] [Frames:5375]
I don't know if this is the bit of the IFO you need so if not, let me know and I'll post the bit you need. Thanks for all your hard work so far jdobbs - this is the app the community has been waiting for.

@jdobbs: while you know you're not trying to write anything to the source directory, it sounds like you might have an open command that is wanting a write lock even though you use it for reading. There are a lot of options for that command. I'm pretty sure this doesn't happen every time so it must be code outside the usual loops.

Thanks for all your hard work so far jdobbs - this is the app the community has been waiting for. That couldn't be the right VTS -- it only has two cells: V/C 1/1 & 2 -- the error occurred on V/C 1/7.
You should be able to tell which VTS caused the problem by looking at the name in upper "Progress" bar. The first 3 letters of the name("Vnn") represent the VTS.
I found a bug that I've fixed for 0.41 related to this. It would be interesting to know if the offending VTS starts off with an SCR that is non-zero. Are you familiar with VOBEDIT?

Ah OK sorry. I've deleted the folder now and I've got to go to work in a minute but I'll do it again tomorrow and post back with the 'Vnn' number.
I have used VOBedit before but only to see what it does! If you're after some specific info from it about the problem VTS I'm more than happy to get it for you but you'll need to give me a brief explanation of how to get the info.

Be careful, though because encoding isn't 100% accurate and you can oversize easily.
But if you are within 50-60MB you are within 1.3% of the maximum size for the disc.
Thanks for information!
What is default value of "TargetSectors" (actually used by DVD-RB), please?

Honestly, I think it is dvd-rb because no other software seems to have any problems, but I do understand that there is no other software like yours :)
Supporting ISO is very important for several reasons, one is the obvious need to keep the DVD structure intact, but another one is for the technical support of dvd-rb down the road. People can't really mess around with the structure of an ISO created from the original DVD so you will know a standard source was given to dvd-rd. This should allow you to duplicate the scenario when chasing critters.
So my question is how can I help you pinpoint what is causing this issue? I have a replicatable that only errors when a mounted ISO is used as source. Filemode source works OK.

Let me see if there might be some circumstance where something strange happens... I just search through my code for every instance that accesses the source directory.

I think I have a good replicatable. Last night I started fresh with filemode source. It finished ok. This morning I renamed the video_ts dir and changed source to my ISO and restarted the rebuild. Got the same error again. It errors right after:

I have remade several other DVDs sucessfully with DVD-RB.
But Tora Tora Tora always fails at the same place in rebuild. There are a couple of odd PGCs in the main movie multi-angle? or interleaving? I'm not sure what they do...
I think its failing at the INTERMISSION frame
or just before it.
I'm gonna use DvdReMake to reemove the inrtermission and run it again...

2. Encoder being used: CCE 2.67
3. Using eclCCE? Y
4. Bug encountered: Full back-up of LOTR - Fullscreen (R1)Disc 1. The whole process was performed without a hitch. However, the resulting DVD files total 4.56 GB (4,903,780,352 bytes). Nero, of course, says it's too big. I used default settings and Dynamic Cell Bit-rate. One note, I paused/stopped it about 43% into encoding. It seemed to return to where it left off fine.
Is it possible to overburn w/Nero?

Could the trouble be related to the 0 sized files ?
I know it's a different situation, and please, take it as an example, but also Nero Burning complains a lot if you try to compile a DVD session with 0 sized files...

Like you said, it is a different situation. The dir.txt is where I created a directory listing via CMDline: dir > dir.txt and would never be in a normal directory. The reason the other file is 0 is because rebuilder failed at that point.

jdobbs: I noticed with 0.41 that if you stop/pause .. close dvd-rb and restart it, hit encode, the audio streams you removed in the original process are again ticked. But I guess that doesnt matter since the process files are not changed.. but it can confuse people. :)

If you resumed and finished the encodes followed by a REBUILD (without re-checking the ones you had originally) you will probably go over size. I'll have to look at that and save the selected audio in the rebuilder.inf file for the project.
Thanks.

Hey Jdobbs!
I have some good news and some bad news, however the bad news is more likely my error now. Perhaps the other xbox user can confirm that. So using These:
DVD-RB .41
CCE 2.67.03
ECL 1.7
The xbox stutter after chapter points has lessened significantly. Before it use to freeze frame and stay for about a minute, now it's pretty much only noticible if I am actually watching the movie. Bad news is, it's still there. Once again I am playing this on an xbox and on the PS2 it works fine as does PC drive. I don't have a "real" player to test these on just yet.
Next question that I hope someone can answer. First part, how essential is the decomb.dll? I noticed that I don't have one set in RB and it doesn't seem like I have that file in avisyth's folder. Next, if it is essential, could that be causing the minor stutter I have going? And lastly, where can I get this file if it is essential (or better) to have and especially if it could be causing the stutter. Thanks Jdobbs for your hard work and the kick ass app!

It is only needed if you activate Deinterlacing in the AVS options menu. This should not be needed unless you plan on watching your backups on a PC or other progressive display (not at TV). If you need it there is a link in the Install, Setup and Usage stickie.

The only problem is, the player won't display any subtitles. I can turn them all on (there are 6 total), but they never show up. The funny thing is the subtitles work fine in a software player (WinDVD 5).
Hmm, am I the only one having problems with subs in a standalone? Just trying again with v0.41.

Runtime 9, happens as DVD-RB attempts to rebuild the main movie file. Go to three step mode and do only the PREPARE. Then go into the D2VAVS directory and try to play some of the AVS files with Microsoft Media Player. If you are getting this error on every disc you try, you probably are misconfigured.

Jdobbs, yeah that's kimda important eh? I'm NTSC. Thanks for the clue in as well wmansir, could that possibly be what's going in? I'm testing with the movie My Best Friends Wedding Special Edition. Doing that now. Now, if they don't play, what configurations should I look at?
Otherwise, what if they do play?

The common errors are related to the avisynth plugins, copy your plugins in the avisynth plugins directory then just update the following registry entries :
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AviSynth]
"plugindir"="C:\\Program Files\\AviSynth 2.5\\plugins"
"plugindir2_5"="C:\\Program Files\\AviSynth 2.5\\plugins"
If they play it's something else ;)
(Did you check that for every avs file there is a m2v file after the encode phase ?)

Runtime 9, happens as DVD-RB attempts to rebuild the main movie file.
I also received the run-time error 9 about 50% through the rebuild. I am using RB v0.41, CCE 2.67.00.11, AVS 2.5, and ECL 1.81. My source is a DVD-Decrypter ISO of NTSC Fawlty Towers episode disc 1 mounted in Daemon Tools. I extracted the VOBs with DVD-Decrypter in file mode and used this as the source for DVD-RB. Process and Encode worked fine. Then the error occured halfway through Rebuild.
On my second attempt, I loaded the ISO into DVDShrink, set custom output size to 9.4GB, and created a backup at an automatic setting of 100% (no compression). Then I used the output from DVDShrink as the source for DVD-RB. This worked perfectly. There were no errors during rebuild.
Sounds like DVDShrink may have corrected a small error in the original DVD structure. Also, the output from DVDShrink was 4096 bytes smaller than the file mode rip with DVD-Decrypter. The size difference is in VTS_01_0.VOB. DVDShrink also completly removed VTS_02_0.VOB which is 0KB and apparently not needed. VTS_02 is the trailers and they play fine in PowerDVD and IFOEdit. The entire disc plays fine on the computer. I have not burned it yet, but it also passed the file check in RecordNow Max.

I also got the #0004 error, this is the first time I have gotten it. I am backing up Chapplle's Show: Season 1, Disc 1; Using CCE 2.50 (w/ eclcce). I've tried both RB .41 and .42 and I get the same #0004 error on the same cell with both of them.
And as always, even though we all know, great program, it's a pleasure to use.

Hmm, am I the only one having problems with subs in a standalone? Just trying again with v0.41.
OK, now processed two other (PAL) DVDs with 0.41 and again, subtitles work only in a software player, not in my standalone (JVC XV-S300BK).
Could some others (maybe it just happens with PAL?) please try to verify this?
Also, v0.41 didn't remove the layer break from the IFO. jdobbs, what algorithm do you use to identify the true dual-layer break?

I am only doing PAL DVD's (last one was Master and Commander). Subtitles have been working on all of them.
Hmm, OK, I'll do some research.

version: .42
encoder: ReJig
Error 63 bad record number? in prepare
movie: Schindlers List R1 side B
Side B encodes sucessfully in QuEnc with DVD-RB ver .41... works marginal(some audio dropouts) in Apex 1500, but B/W sections stutters/freezes in Toshiba 4900. Have no tried ver.42 in QuEnc yet due to processing time required.

Excellent news! Trying this now.

:( Still got it. Same point, on the rebuild.
EDIT: Downloaded .42, and switched to 3 click, just to do the rebuild, it gets this far:
http://www.ceand.com/images/dvdrb.jpg
And then the "Runtime 9, Subscript out of Range" error pops up. Always at the exact same moment.
EDIT2: This is what the corresponding section in Rebuilder.inf has to say about the above m2v

To the god known as Jdobbs......... :o (Smiley singing praise)
OK so I just made a perfect backup of My Best Friend's Wedding Special Edition with the following:
DVD-RB .42
CCE 2.67
ECL 1.7
So far, no errors, everything running perfectly. For others, I didn't use decomb so yeah I dunno in what situation I should, but this wasn't one of them. Jdobbs, you freaking rule. That's about all I got right now. I'm looking forward to the "complex" version of RB. I'll be sure to keep testing with other films and see what I get!

On DVD-RB 0.42 I got my first #0004 error doing Kill Bill vol1 R2. Luckily it happens at 97.5% on VTS_3 (while rebuilding) which is the last to be processed and was so small I could copy the original to the rebuilt project and the size comes to 4.34GB.
Did Get VTS Sectors and tried in both software players no probs. The movie looked so damn fine (even with the 800MB extras) that I'd hate to waste it, so I'll "risk" a dvd-r (it will work though).
jdobbs: If you dont mind revealing it, what are these 0004 errors related to?
edit: burnt, tested on 3 standalones: no problemos.

jdobbs: If you dont mind revealing it, what are these 0004 errors related to? It means there is a lot of audio and/or subpicture data at the end of a cell that has no accompanying video. I have some code that can create a buffer overflow as it is flushing these cells out to the end-of-cell. I just have to make sure the fix doesn't cause more problems than it corrects.

I was thinking it might have to do with audio processing since the vob that bombed out didnt have audio when you drag it into a player.
In any case, my first real error with a non-multiangle-weirdness disc ;) Not bad so far after about 10 discs.
A fix for it will surely be appreciated. Then again the occational error makes one appreciate a flawless backup even more
