AAC+ can compete at 64kbps, not AAC, about saving the jobfile, it's against RealAnime philosophy: batch encoding.

BS. Cook and AAC are tied at the Roberto's 64kbps listening test.

BTW. The maximum score would be five but none of these can even hit four.

ha! the graph I wanted to see! :)

but, I see no point adding AAC right now. When AAC+ will works, I'll move cook for 64-96kbps and use AAC+ instead. RealAnime is a simple GUI, and I want to keep it that way.

I'm adding AAC and HE-AAC to RealAnime. Since RealAnime works by audio mode and bitrate, HE-AAC will replace cook from 64kbps to 128kbps and AAC from 160kbps to 320kbps.

*** Version 1.60 released ***

New:
* HE-AAC (64kbps to 128kbps)
* AAC (160kbps to 320kbps)
* Multi-channel (96kbps to 264kbps) *

Removed:
* Surround cook

Since sometimes producer hang (stop encoding) in the middle of a file, but the file is encoded normaly through AVISynth, I'm adding AVISynth manual custom script support. Version 1.70 RC1 will be out soon. To use this feature, you'll have to build your own AVS except the first and the last line.

Here's a shot:
http://www.webernic.com/sites/sirber/customAVS.png

With this, my problem is resolved and people will be happy to have AVISynth support in "batch-mode" :D

HE-AAC is broken. Please wait the next release.

You should relativise your warning from before. At least i had no excessive frame dropping when using matroska container for storing HE-AAC audio streams :)

But i am stuck trying to get the playback of rm and mkv files with (HE-)AAC audio working on linux using mplayer :(

Sirber
25th January 2004, 17:51
the warning is for RMVB + HE-AAC, haven't tryed with MKV yet. Could you try with realanime? If it's #1, I'll set MKV by default and remove the warnings :)

I will do some tests with v1.80 asap. I did two tests with RealAnime V1.7rc2 and hand-tuned the jobfile to use the rn-file-mkv instead of the normal file writer.
Both files played flawless.

Sirber
25th January 2004, 18:10
I converted a RMVB into Matroska, and the file is unplayable in MPC:

E:\Films\mkv>mkvmerge.exe -o E01.mkv E01.rmvb

Using RealMedia demultiplexer for E01.rmvb.

Opened 'E01.mkv' for writing.

I encounter some problems when trying to encode using RV8
with all Modes (cbr, vbr, const Quality). Producer does not encode the file. Not related to mkv/rm container.

Encoding audio with more than 160 kbps seams to work not flawless, too.

Choosing 320 kbps e.g., RA will forgett to add the codecName to the jobfile:

<stream xsi:type="audioStream"> <codecFlavor type="uint">0</codecFlavor>
<codecName type="string"></codecName>
<pluginName type="string">rn-audiocodec-realaudio</pluginName>
<streamContext type="bag">
<audioMode type="string">music</audioMode>
<presentationType type="string">audio-video</presentationType>
</streamContext>

coudl you post your complete jobfile? what settings did you use?

intABRate = 160
intCodecFlavor = 3
strAudioCodec = "raac"
Case 8: '192kbps
intABRate = 192
intCodecFlavor = 4
strAudioCodec = "raac"
Case 9: '256kbps
intABRate = 256
intCodecFlavor = 5
strAudioCodec = "raac"
Case 6: '320kbps
intABRate = 320
intCodecFlavor = 6
strAudioCodec = "raac"there is a typo for 320kbps :D

The select is fixed, I'm uploading it (same URL). I hope it was the only problem :D

In the section "audioStream" the codecFlavor is wrong - should be 6 - and coecName is missing completely.
This happens with every avi-file i have tested and an avs AviSynth script, too.

P.S.:
On my Windows98 the HE-AAC rm files still do not play flawless using MPC 6.4.7.6. But i will have to do some more testing to very this.

About the rv30 issue:

I ran the jobfile produced by RealAnime 1.8 manually, activating all logging categories.
I found this error message:

Error: Failed to Set Property: Key customPacketSize Value 16000

This is the relevant part of job_tmp.rpjf:

<codecProperties type="bag">

<customPacketSize type="uint">16000</customPacketSize>
</codecProperties>

Deleting the contents of the codecProperties bag like this

<codecProperties type="bag">
</codecProperties>

Producer could encode the jobfile flawless.

Looks like the rv30 codec does not know about the costumePacketSize or accepts only lower values.
Karl may know that.

About the MPC playback:
Of course you are right. Playback can not be smooth when i only reserve that low bitrate for the video.
I set an higher average bitrate and all the new files play fine with MPC.
Thanks for the great player, Gabest :)

Is there a way to encode embedded subtitles in the source avi file (which to my knowledge are only accessible through vobsub) along in RealAnime so that they appear in the encoded rmvb file? or is there a way to extract them first and input them in RealAnime as a 2nd/3rd stream?

Sirber
27th January 2004, 12:49
each "input stream" are independant. The only way is to use "AVISynth" for each of your "input stream" externaly. RealAnime wasn't designed to take care of external audio nor external subs. But! Surreal UI will be able to manage all that stuff :D

methos
27th January 2004, 12:52
i figured that much... i hoped there was a way to deal with embedded subs in RealAnime. However there doesn't seem to be any way to do that now :(

Sirber
27th January 2004, 13:00
(AVI+Sub)-> AVS -> RealAnime -> RMVB

methos
27th January 2004, 13:59
ordinarily that would work. However i can't find a way to extract the subs from the avi... vdubmod doesn't recognize a seperate text stream. Grahpedit does, but if i use filewriter it generates a file of 2 byte... and if i mux it back into mkv/ogm/avi (compressed/uncompressed) the text stream disappears completely.

Hi guys :D

I'm planning features for RealAnime 1.90!! :D

Here what I plan to add:
* Scheduler: start encoding at X hour, stop at Y hour
* Logs: instead if aborting, RealAnime will proceed to the next file to encode
* Drag & Drop
* CPU heat disipator: run HLT command when inactive to bring the CPU fan noise down (Delphi DLL or EXE)

Why these new features? Scheduler is for helping me to sleep :o, logs is to encode more and more whitout monitoring realanime :rolleyes:, and drag and drop, is for not wasting my time fighting with the "add" button :devil:

Any ideas are welcome :D, but keep in mind I won't change the main concept of RealAnime: easy batch encoding of my good animes :D

First, congrats for your new Matroska edition. Really nice how fast you integrated the new Producer10 and Matroska writer.

Now, runnindg HLT? Shouldn't a modern OS care for that stuff? However, on some AthlonXP boards (at least ASUS) HLT is disabled anyway, because the CPU can fall asleep and won't wake up again...

Just my thoughts,

1. can it convert ogm(avi+ogg) to mkv(rmvb+ogg)?
2. why only average bitrate but no max bitrate?

tiki4 By modern OS, I hope you're not talking about windows :D. Linux can do that, but windows don't. Alao, this feature will be in "advanced" tab and not enabled by default. CPUIdle does the same job, but not in the way I want it :)

2. why only average bitrate but no max bitrate? 1) Nope, RealAnime don't demux/remux stuff :(
2) Max bitrate is hardcoded to be 5x the average bitrate. Because of this, you need to have a SSE+3DNOW CPU or else you'll get 1x ;). Karl recommended 5x to have "constant quality" and help high motion scenes.
