Sirber convinced me to try it out, and indeed, I was surprised to see that it made zip compatible files much smaller than WinZip. With its own 7z format, even smaller than RAR as well. For a "compressionist", that's a compelling feature.

Please, people. If you are going to write quality stuff, use a real programming environment.
No, VB6/DelphiWhatever doesnt cut it.
Those two languare are the best to build GUIs fast. I don't want to spend next two years to make one :devil:
And 7zip? for crying out loud.
Why the hell would I download a weird unknown file compressor.
What is wrong with zip/arj/rar/lha/gz/bzip2?
7zip is by far the best compression tool. Also, I don't use old junk.

But we can not playback ralf content yet, can we? It is good to have it enabled for when ralf playback is possible.

hum...
I'm just adding producer features :D. Vorbis can't work also, missing DLL...
Hi,
I'm preparing to encode 26 episodes of Soul Hunter.
I'm usually do my encode with x2real because I could add filters and batch encode.
I've tested the last version of RealAnim (v1.10) with adding filters and Dup filter in the AVS.
Do some modification to the job.txt to set '1' to all 'VideoDupFrameDropper' section as adviced by Karl.
The prg work good, but take too much CPU load (30% in my case).
I've test to encode this at 410 kbits (1:40 min) :
-----------------
LoadPlugin("mpeg2dec3.dll")
LoadPlugin("dup.dll")
LoadPlugin("TomsMoComp.dll")
LoadPlugin("Deen.dll")
LoadPlugin("asharp.dll")
LoadPlugin("Convolution3DYV12.dll")
mpeg2source("U:\soul hunter dvd1\ep1\vts_01.d2v",idct=6)
trim(0,2500)
TomsMoComp(1,5,1)
deen("a2d",4,9,0,0)
Convolution3d(preset="animeHQ")
asharp(2.5,4.5,0.25,hqbf=true)
LanczosResize(560,416)
Dup(maxcopies=20,threshold=1.7,show=False)
--------------------
(the result is not good due to asharp parameters)
RealAnim
6:08 min --> 4572 Ko
Only producer cmd with the 'job_tmp.rpjf' created by RealAnim
4:55 min --> 4561 Ko (11 Ko difference ?)
x2real (without 'VideoDupFrameDropper' because I cannot launch with job) but using EHQ
4.55 min --> 4945 Ko (+ 8.4 %)

RealAnime takes 30% CPU? :confused: RealAnime.exe took here 0-2-6% on my 2000+, but it's supposed to use 0%. I guess it's the API management section to track producer activity. I'll check that when I'll return from work.
[edit]
Hum... this can't be optimized. What's your processor speed?
[edit 2]
I got a fix: Set RealAnime.exe to IDLE state. I'll add that so it will do it itself on startup. At IDLE mode, and producer at IDLE (by default), RealAnime uses 0% CPU. I'll make a fix soon.

I can't fix. VB6 is lame. I'll close that project soon and merge the techniques in Delphi in a new project. It's all Top Secret ;). More news to come later.

Seems that on your system RealAnime can't show open dialog. I'll update source soon so you'll be able to compile it yourself or *twaek* it for your system :)
This project is going to abandonware and will be replaced by something more efficient written in Delphi.
BTW, I'm french too, un québécois français francophone :D.

for all people unsuccessfully trying to get this GUI to run - try OCX librarypack in http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=56924&highlight=helix+producer+gui . Apparently some of my VB6 DLLs were too old; and the link under this topic have even older ones :(.

@sirber
perhaps could u try to add the sleep api in your loop this will help u to avoid to take to much cpu use.
u set the parameter in millisec.
somethink like this in VB :
do while ....
...
doevents
sleep(300)
loop
Ps: sleep is an kernel32 api if i right remember.
hope this could help u :)
Bye.

Sirber

@D.C.
I'll try. Right now I'm using something like:
Do While ret& = STILL_ACTIVE&
DoEvents
GetExitCodeProcess proc.hProcess, ret&
Loop
:confused:
I taught DoEvents was giving OS the power...
[edit]
I also tryed:
'Wait Module 1.0
'by Buttress Root Software
'
'Programmed by Jonathan Liu
'Copyright ©1999-2371 Buttress Root Software. All rights reserved.
Private Declare Function GetTickCount Lib "kernel32" () As Long
Sub Wait(ByVal dblMilliseconds As Double)
Dim dblStart As Double
Dim dblEnd As Double
Dim dblTickCount As Double
dblTickCount = GetTickCount()
dblStart = GetTickCount()
dblEnd = GetTickCount + dblMilliseconds
Do
DoEvents
dblTickCount = GetTickCount()
Loop Until dblTickCount > dblEnd Or dblTickCount < dblStart
End Sub
**
Same CPU usage :(

Oh yeah!
I got my book "for dummies" ;) about Delphi 7. My new top secret project will go way faster :cool:
Sirber

Oh yeah #2!
0% CPU now. I set sleep for 1 sec. While encoding, RealAnime don,t respond too fast, but it's ok for me:)

OK, I've had a look at it and it's quite quick an easy to use. One feature that might be appreciated is something like DarkCracker has in AutoRV9 for encoding end credits at a different bitrate. XviD dev-api-4 currently has zones, so the ultimate would be to have a little zones table where you can define the bitrate for certain ranges if you so wish. But just the end credits encoding at a different bitrate would be nice. Manually specifiable rather than a %age.
Hmm, what else... as I know very little about MSL, could you tell me what it does? Also what are "sharp" "normal" "smooth" and "slideshow" in HPG?
Edit: Oh and output filename. And clean up those outline boxes which go over the border edge. :)
Sirber
21st August 2003, 23:15
MSL: buffer time on playback.
"sharp" "normal" "smooth" and "slideshow": To set when codec will drop frames
Oh and output filename. And clean up those outline boxes which go over the border edge: :confused: I need more infos. Everything seems fine in here...
superdump
22nd August 2003, 08:18
How do I set the output filename? It seems to simply be the input filename with the extension changed.
As for the border thing, if you PM me your e-mail address, I'll e-mail you a png of what I mean. :)
Edit: And thank you for the reply. So the "when to drop frames" feature is on the ToDo list?
Sirber
22nd August 2003, 12:36
Hi
If you want to drop frames, check DropDupe and set the max number of frames to drop in a row. If you want to change the settings for DropDupe, edit manually job.txt.
my mail is sirber(a)myrealbox.com

Like I said earlier, this software is deadware. My new GUI will be way more powerfull, with AVISynth support and per-file settings.

Hi
Coz of increased RV9 interrest, I updated RealAnime's defaults and GUI. Get the 1.14 version!!!
Note: you may want to update to the lastest version of Helix Producer avalible on https://www.helixcommynity.org. The lastest isn't included with RealAnime. Reason? The one included works perfectly :D

I know that the RealAnime is kinda a dead project, but something to think about on your new GUI utility is the ability to select multiple files at once on the "load" screen (IE, holding down shift or control allows multiple files to be selected). I think that when you deal with a batch encoder, its usefull to select multiple things at once. Other than that, i'd like to say great job on all the work you've done so far, hats off to you mate.
Afterthought: you should have the real anime (or new GUI)'s settings store themselves in an INI file or something after closing the program to retain previously used settings
Sirber
20th October 2003, 02:00
Surreal UI will have the ability to save and load settings to apply them to multiple files. About RealAnime, you could get the sources, implementing the multiple load, then send the modifications to me, and I'll post a new version. I have no time to work on RealAnime again, too much projects like Surreal UI and a massive internet multiplayer game.

can it support compressing ogm/mkv with ogg audio? it seems everytime when the video has a ogg audio then it says error and cannot start encode.
ar....does real producer support compressing ogg in general?
Sirber
6th November 2003, 02:36
Hi
I really don't know. I never tryed encoding OGM/MKV. If producer don't support them I can't do much... :)
