@Honeyko
so.. the problem is within Automkv or ffmpegsource or DirectShowSource ?
i can only suggest to try the new beta
@jason288
thanks jason288 for all support!

@GenjyoSanzo
Your solution works great! Thanks again!
@jason288
Thanks for the tip!
I have always just ripped the main movie if all eps are 1VTS.
I couldn't select each eps in AutoMKV using the PGC dropdown. It only shows me the main movie VTS.
1 more question:
1. If I want to manually crop the video in the advance settings and click on preview, the extra window pops up but I can't see any videoframe. Moreover it seems to stuck with the last desktoop pic
Thanks for this great tool! ^^
Thanks for all the help so far and in advance! :)

@Shuichiro
I would just rip the whole disk if the episodes are in 1 VTS. Then you know the subs are going to work without any issues.
That means that the episodes are in different VTS. You have to go to advanced screen and choose process this ifo, then you have to choose the ifo that corresponds to the episode that you are trying to encode.
If you look at the following screen shot ( http://jason28.shackspace.com/futurama.GIF ) you can see that there is 1 episode in VTS 4,5,6,7 and 8. So I would have to choose the ifo that corresponds to the ep that I wanted to encode.

I'm routinly use AutoMKV to convert DVDs to XVID encoded AVI files. I use constant quality setting with unlimited size, so I usually end up with AVI file even bigger then DVD size. I opened that AVI file in Gspot and it reported "1.99 GB unneeded bytes at end of file". Is it true? Why this space is there and what might be causing it?
Note: 1.99 GB unneeded bytes at end of file
Multipart OpenDML AVI (3 parts)
(41908 frames in first part, 109920 frames follow)
Interleave: 1 vid frame (40 ms), preload=288
Audio frames: Split across interleaves

1.99 GB unneeded bytes at end of file
:confused:
please try analyzing with avinaptic, and use the bitrate graph to navigate till end of file
imho the message gspot gives is due to multipart opendml...
i suggest to ask to gspot support

Hi Guys
I have been using the program for a while and have recently upgraded to 0.95c running on vista. I am currently having a issue with the audio sync on one of my movies and i was wondering if someone can quickly tell me about the delay settings that are available.
Another issue that i encountered was when i was trying to archieve my Star Wars collection. The issues being that during the opening of the movie when the text scrolls the screen every second frame is a different language, does anyone know how to just display the english text.
(I am currently at work and cannot post the log, if i have to i will post the log when i get home)
Thanks
Eddie

@EddieT
First of All Welcome to the Forum!
delay settings that are available
automkv will automatically handle the dealy.. in that case i can suppose a problem of ripping. Please try with ripit4me
and about subs.. what player are you using ? try with VLC or Media Player Classic

Oooo, the opening crawl is a multi-angle scene?
I might have to go run out to the other room and retrieve my Star Wars DVD's just to check that out.
I tried ripping a disc with multi angle scenes once. I tried to strip out the second angle and ended up with a movie that alternated with a blank grey screen.
I'll be interested to hear the solution to this as well.

The program i use to rip the DVD'd is the latest version of ANYDVD HD. as for player I was using Nero Showtime 3 but it had serious audio sync issues but I am now using showtime 4

@ all above
Star Wars does use multi-angles to display the scrolling text at the start of the movie.
@EddieT
You should be able to rip the movie with only the angle you want (i.e. the one with the desired language) by using DVD Decrypter. Go into it's settings and under the "File Mode" tab, click the "Multi Angle Processing" box and select an angle. Angle 1 is normally the one I'd try first. Test the resulting output and if it's the wrong language, select another angle, and re-rip.
The resulting output from DVD Decrypter should process through AutoMKV without any problems and show clean scrolling text in just your desired language.

When I change the PGC I can no longer choose All Audio Tracks for the audio. I have a video I want to rip from DVD that has 3 audio tracks, but I can't get them all because it isn't the first PGC in that VTS (which is selected by default in AutoMKV).
Also, I've noticed that the browsing (explorer) windows doesn't persist with the same location. It seems to me that the location it starts in is the location it was set to when the program last launched.
Both of these seem like bugs to me unless there is something I'm missing about these issues.

open automkv, on advanced settings check "process this ifo", then select the IFO belonging to your vts

true, but not a true bug. It's a simple features i use for finding fast my input files.
If you have a specific (and always the same) folder for input file, select it and then click Save Setting

If you have a specific (and always the same) folder for input file, select it and then click Save SettingYou're assuming people want to input from the same place all the time, which (at least at this point in time) is never true for me, and I bet I'm not the only one. However, I can deal... The other thing that annoys me is that when you select the output folder, it starts in the input folder, which seems inconsistent with what you said above. Shouldn't it keep the same output folder as "always" instead of defaulting to the input folder?
All in all, a great tool and am very happy that you have written this for other people to use :) I looked and looked for something I can use to convert DVDs to MKV and this is by far the best - thanks!

Happily for me, for all my DVB captures:
input folder = output folder = always the same :cool:
@buzzqw: look, I've posted without a single mention of tweaking the GUI. :) Whoops, does that count :rolleyes:

Behaviour is re-producible here with 0.96b12 too. As soon as you select a PGC, whether it's the first one or subsequent one, the drop down list only has options of "NONE" or the individual tracks. "All Audio Tracks" is only displayed as an option until you click the PGC drop down. I've never wanted to copy all tracks, so don't know if this is a recent development or a long standing carryover issue.

Hi...first post, so first of all
a BIG THANKS, for this great tool ! I've been using it for 2 weeks now, and encoded about 30 dvd's to perfect xvid.
It works really great - I love it.
But also, i have a minor problem, sometimes when i queue 3 iso´s mounted with deamon tools. and encode them to xvid.
It messes up the subtitels, or the video not sure. I end up
with 2 perfect rips, and one with wrong subs....not really a big
problem...prolly some settings....anyone any suggestion ?

Welcome to the forum :) and buzzqw always like to hear "BIG THANKS" :cool:
What do you mean by "messes up" - wrong subtitle applied (i.e one from the other rip), from another title on the disc or just out of sync?
Posting the log of the problem encode would help us to help you further. Paste it inside code tags rather than as an attachment though.

I'm very frustrated right now. I'll post my log later on, and I know it says "Break! File not supported!" and all that crap, but it's wrong. Ok, I was encoding a vob earlier today, a straight rip from my dvd. It encoded just damn fine. Now, I try again, and I get that message. What the hell happened? It was able to encode .vob files just fine, and now it magically can't. I used the same settings and the same .vob

I thought I remembered reading a post somewhere that indicated Deen required a mod16 source. If correct, then that may be an explanation. Check the movie.avs as indicated by buzzqw, and if there are no other additional problems evidenced from that then maybe try using 0.96beta12 and checking the "Mod16 crop" box in the "Advanced Settings" tab.
Actually, the tooltip for that option mentions Deen requiring mod16 too. :D

It's definitely a little puzzling, as there doesn't seem to be any obvious errors in your log as you no doubt noted. One thing you may like to try is moving AutoMKV into a shorter directory path, e.g. F:\AutoMKV\ rather than in what I gather is your Desktop. Use a shorter path for your output directory too. It's possible that something within the processing is having trouble with the combined directory & filename length.
Also, you may want to reconsider the audio settings you are using for some videos. I note that in 2 of your movies you are actually increasing the audio bitrate from that of the original - essentially just wasting space.

Thanks Zazoc for your reply,
I will move the program, to another drive, this is also
the drive with the content on it for encoding.
About the audio bitrate, i am a little confused about this
setting. I got a few movies encoded, with 5.1 audio encoded
to ac3 in the end. I ended up with strange sound in the xvid.
As in, voices low volume, and effects pretty hard. So i thought
setting the bitrate a little higher for al my movies to encode might solve that problem.....
I must find a way to find out the bitrate from the originals,
so i can set it to that for encoding.
[btw sorry for my bad english] :)

@pvlll
No need to apologise for your English - it's quite ok.
You won't gain anything audio quality when your output bitrate is higher than your input bitrate - may as well just copy original audio instead. But you may not know before processing what the original bitrate is of course, and you may not want to copy original when your source bitrate is very high or when source is not AC3.
If you're having issues with output volume on certain disc's then you could try unticking "Normalize Audio" within the Advanced Audio options, and see if that helps with those discs.

Well, let me share some new results...
For now i stopped doing multi convertions, since i think
deamon tools, is the vault for messing up video and subtitle sources. Moving the program to a shorter directory path resulted in video without audio...strange...
When i moved it back to the original location, the one on my desktop with the large path - and did the same convertion,
automagicly it encoded with audio. So i'll leave it there :D
So, it does the job perfecly...one movie at the time - i am really happy with the result, Great !
got one more q. Do you guys think that using the computer while its encoding - will give frame drops in the end result ?
Or would it just take more time, since it doesnt drop frame's but it just takes longer to calculate ?

@pvlll
Why not just rip your DVD's in file mode to different directories, rather than to ISO? That cuts out Daemon Tools completely but still enables multi DVD queuing.
You won't drop frames by using your system while encoding. It'll just slow it down as you speculated.

Most of my sources are already in iso format. It takes aprox 3 hours per movie. No extra handeling. Thats fast enough for me :) Almost done with my entire collection..
If thats finished, i'm gonna test out all the other settings in this fine piece of software.
Thanks again Buzzqw, and zazoc for your support !
(i havent checked it out yet, but i dont think *.dv as input source is possible with aMKV is it ?, that would
have been perfect, been sturggeling around to get my home DV video's converted....i worked it out, but
a ALL in ONE solution like aMKV to do the trick would be great.)

Alternatively, as Ajax_Undone said, you could use his installer (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1127666#post1127666).
neroaacEnc.exe is the only one not installed. Just goes in the directory as you've done.
why program will not give me any output file even if log says job has finished?
The message at the end of the log about "Job Finished" indicates simply that it has finished processing, not that it has successfully finished processing. You should always check your output and/or the log for any issues before assuming processing is successful.
I'm not sure how viable it is to have AutoMKV report at the end of the log whether the whole process was successful or not. It's quite possible that some/many of the programs involved in the processing don't report error codes that can be captured and tracked. Buzzqw seems to have attempted to capture issues where he can - evidenced by the audio encoding failed prompt you mentioned in your earlier post.

Long time between posts (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=881164#post881164)for you ;) Welcome back if that's the case.
Synchonisation problems can have a number of causes, some limited to certain sources. Best way to troubleshoot it is for you to post your full log from the encodes, use CODE tags (don't attach it - takes too long for approval).
Also, it is de-synchronised by the same amount consistently through the video or gradually goes out of sync more and more?

Hi, sorry if this has been asked before. Is it possible to use AutoMKV to encode in xvid and play it back in the ipod?
I know that the ipod supports MPEG4 and I have an older PMP that also supports MPEG4. That is the reason I would prefer converting to xvid instead of h264.
Which profile should I use, because the default profile for xvid does not playback in the ipod.
Thanks :)

Is it possible to use AutoMKV to encode in xvid and play it back in the ipod?As far as I know, the iPod doesn't support Xvid. So you can't use AutoMKV or any other software for this purpose.
BUT, you can use AutoMKV with the MP4 container and X264 codec. Then, check the box "All Profiles" and from "Profile" select "iPod.xml". I believe that should do it.

I believe this is incorrect. Check the quote from the Ipod homepage:
MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
