A "funny" fact I would like to point out.
I remuxed a TS (1080i/p?) into Blu-Ray.

I burnt the folder structure into a UDF 2.5 disc. Upon inserting the disc on my PC, vista recognized it as "Blu-ray disc". The only option available was to explore the files, since I dont have anything install that can handle BDs.

The PS3, however, read it as a "data" disc.

Now, I burnt a new AVCHD project with Nero vision. This time, vista doesn't read it as a Blu-ray disc, and offers me the typical file options for any data disc.
However, the PS3 recognizes it as an AVCHD disc (and it plays!). Too bad I had no luck with the m2ts from TSRemux :(

I think this is a Sony-Problem :devil:
The PS3 don't accept BDMV-Video form BD-R and BD-RE.
Sony says: Perhaps we will change this in a later Firmwareupdate.

Not true, I've been able to write my own BDMV discs and play them back on my PS3 since firmware 1.7 using bd-r and bd-re discs

Could you please throw in some additional information regarding the process, such as what tools were used etc.? Thanks.

Have only tried this on a PS3, Scenarist 4.2 doesn't put the correct flag for playback on a PS3 so I need to do steps 6 onwards. Still waiting for Scenarist 4.3 which will.

Tools needed
EVOdemux
TSremux
eac3to
Scenarist 4.2 (only program I've got to remux the streams)

1. In EVOdemux Demux the video into vc-1 files
2. In EVOdemux Rebuild the audio stream into an audio only EVO file
3. Run the audio only EVO file through eac3to to get the AC3 or DTS file
4. Run the final VC-1 and AC3/DTS files through Scenarists MUI Generator
5. Use Scenarist to make a very basic Blu-ray Disc

If you only have 1 original video and audio file skip to 9

6. Look through the Scenarist Project folder and find the BDMV folder, in the streams folder you will find the video files now as m2ts files, move them to the route of the drive (e.g d:\)
7. Join the m2ts files to make 1 file using copy /b (Copy /b 00000.m2ts+00001.m2ts output.m2ts)
8. Open TSremux, Load in the output.m2ts file and run it using the m2ts file option to create a final file
9. Open TSremux load in either a final single file from Scenarist or the final m2ts file from TSremux, then build a BDMV folder using TSremux write it to disc and play

So far have made quite a few of these, only ones I've had problems with have been HD-DVD's using h264, and havn't got round it yet
I'm also pretty sure if you get the subtitle files you can import them into Scenarist and add them in as well

The Problem is XMuxer. The PS3 don't like the Mux.
I send Elecard one m2ts-File and they wan't to look, if they can fix. In the new Beta, the PS3 accept the Stream, but the Plyback is not ok. Always Stop and later 15 Sek. you must turn off/on the PS3

For some reason I suspected the problem was that, hehe. So, do you know what else I can try to remux an mkv into a ts, or something TSRemux will accept?
VLC didnt seem to work either :(

Thanks for the samples Robert. Will be fixed in the next version.

That's very nice to hear.

Here is another Sky sample which audio TSRemux sees as DTS-HD instead of AC3:

When writing in nero you have to manually set the UDF to 2.5 or higher otherwise it won't play back on a settop player

I just found out that VLC has a bug that wont remux h264 video into anything, lol.
https://trac.videolan.org/vlc/ticket/1217
Let's say, trying to remux an mkv video (with h264) into ts will result in a ts with the audio track correct, but not the video!

with what source file did u do that?

i have no problems with mpeg2 ts files. [mpeg2 ts file--->tsremux(m2ts output)--->rename the output file (*.m2ts)--->burn it with nero 7(UDF2.60)--->worked flawlessly on my ps3...]

What method are you using to "import" the h264 streams to TsRemux? I tried making .TS files out of streams (using Xmuxer) but the resulting files didn't work. My guess is that the problem relies there... hehe

I tried making a blu-ray dvd-rw..

I used newest tsremux for blu-ray format..

I burnt the dvd-rw with nero 7, using UDF 2.6...

but...

My pioneer bdp-94hd blu-ray player started to play the dvd (said it was a avchd), but went to black screen, then stopped..

It would not play..

The source was a TS with DD 5.1, h264 AVC ran through tsremux..

What am I doing wrong..

Thanx..

Thanks for this great tool. Would it be possible to add an option to map the vpid and the pcrpid to the same id. I think this is the cause why remuxed ts files don't run on Sigma EM chips.

I tried using tsremux latest version to make bluray structure with mpeg ts source and used Nero latest version UDF 2.6 but the ps3 keeps reading this as Data DVD. rename this file with *.m2ts...then burn it with nero 7 physical partition udf 2.60. the ps3 keeps reading this as data dvd but the ps3 will accept the format and u can play that file

isn't it the same as playing the video from a usb drive? The ps3 should even be able to play the original ts file if it was an mpeg-2 ts, right?

Ac3 and H264 works in vob file

I have done some tests of getting the ac3 (Dolby digital) and h.264 (AVC) to play in ps3 without re-encode ac3 to aac. I found a solution.
Step by step.

1.mvkextact audio and video.
2.change the level of h.264 to 4.1 if needed with h264info
3. mux audio and video together with the latest ffmpeg.
ffmpeg -r 23.976 -f h264 -i input.h264 -f ac3 -i input.ac3 -vcodec copy -acodec copy -f vob output.vob

Put this in to the folder for streaming (I use Tversity), it is shown as mpeg-2 in xmb.
Play it and it works great. Press info and you see that it is dolby digital and avc :)

Fast forward do not seems to work but the files can now be bigger than 4GB.

Maybe there can be a profile in redkawa for this :)

I could easily do that, however it is against the BD specs, in BD you're forced into certain PIDs including separate PCR and Video PIDs. If there is enough interested I can add that feature for TS/M2TS (but not BD) output.

I totally offer myself to test anything lol. I have a ps3 to test too.. and a lot of free time in the afternoons, at least until late this month.

I tried the ffmpeg method and I got a vob file. I didn't try to stream it to the ps3, I tried to play it directly instead (using a usb drive). I even took the vob and remuxed it (with tsremux) to m2ts

The m2ts took ages until it started playing... but the same exact thing happened in the ps3! Before determining that the file was "not supported", it took quite a while to show up. I even clicked on the file, and the screen went black., and after a while the "the data is not supported" message came up.

Weird.

I think I'll wait until mkv support because right now there's no tool that will properly mux h264+ac3 into something TsRemux will like. Or at least that's what it seems, lol

Has anyone been successful in burning the BD structure from TSRemux (mpeg source) to DVD or DVD9 with the ps3 recognizing it as BD or AVCHD? ( I tried with Nero UDF 2.6 shows as Data DVD)
I tried NeroVision for AVCHD it works and the ps3 recognize it as AVCHD and plays flawlessly with chapters and DD 5.1 but it does a full encode on my fast machine for best quality takes a full day.

I have done a couple of tests, always with mpeg2-ts sources and it worked well in PS3. Nothing fancy:

1- create BD structure with TSRemux
2- burn BD structure with Nero (latest version) using UDF 2.6. I used DVD+RW, I read somewhere else (redkawa forum) that (-) media was not properly recognised by PS3 (that person also mentioned that "Bitsetting a disc to DVD-ROM " was helping)

My firmware version is 1.5 if it helps.

@dmz01, two suggestions:

(1) Could you please open source files with read-only mode *and* with "read share" flag set (FILE_SHARE_READ flag when using win32 APIs)? Right now TsRemux totally blocks any access to the source file, which is not really necessary.

(2) To make the user interface a bit simpler, you could remove the "use async I/O" checkbox. TsRemux could then first try with async I/O and if that fails it could automatically retry without aync I/O. That would work for me at least, because for me when async fails it always fails directly at the start of the remuxing action. However, if for other people it sometimes fails in the middle of a remux action, my idea would be bad. Well, it was just a thought... (Btw, I always get problems with async when remuxing EVOs, but never when remuxing TS/M2TS).

Thanks!

x264 is an encoder which encoders in the h264 format. "h264" is the format. "x264" is the name of one specific h264 encoder suite.

then u will get a playable *data dvd*(the "xmb media player" is playing the file so u will only have stereo sound!)

MKV file-> mkvextract -> video.h264 + audio.h264
video.h264 -> h264info -> video.h264
video.h264 + audio.h264 -> ffmpeg -> output.vob

The video didn't play in the PS3.

Anyway, I'm gonna do these too:
output.vob -> rename -> output.m2ts
output.vob -> TsRemux -> output.m2ts (*)
output.vob -> TsRemux -> BluRay (m2ts)

(*) I've done this already and haali media splitter demuxes the file correctly in windows media player, but for some reason WMP doesn't know the video is around 40 minutes long? The same with VLC. Is it normal that the info on the video length is gone?

I think it was the

And one of them works and plays perfectly (without ANY re-encoding at all).

Update: It wasn't the M2TS file I got from TsRemux.
It was the .VOB file. I put it twice in the disc, with .MPG extension and .TS extension. One of the extensions (I suspect the TS) is not even shown. So the VOB file played as .MPG !

What do I do to convert that DTS HD Master Audio to Dolby Digital?
