Are you getting this while using Haali's video renderer or any of the VMR modes ? Try the Overlay Mixer.

over lay mixer no change other than the FPS is not shown in mpc statistics area anymore. As for using haali video render I only hear sound and the screen video area is black. Also it seems to cut the rez in half. Pin info shows coreavc for both above and correct rez and FPS.

Now the interesting part :)

VMR7 (windowed) no change
VMR7 (renderless) no change
VMR9 (renderless) no change

VMR9 (windowed) WOOT IT WORKS!!!

My default has always been "system" so I'm sorta surprised that VMR9 (windowed) was not being used and VMR7 is when I check the system button in mpc options. I'm also surprised that using the haali renderer is totally borked. (it used to work awhile back)

oh and mpc uses 56% CPU now VS vlc at 58% and both playing perfectly. (nice steady 29.97 in each)

Look into changing your video drivers and maybe motherboard drivers. That sounds like a driver issue rather than something else.

well I have the latest drivers for both. (of course that does not mean the best haha )

my guess is XP cruft over the last year or more. So many updates and codecs and drivers changes etc... new video card and new HDTV cap card and on and on I bet the registry is a complete mess.

Over lay mixer used to work also so something is definitely borked. grrr...

same problem as above for me :
I select MPEG PS when I install and the splitter don't want to be used with ps file.

Latest version of Haali Matroska Splitter still cannot handle 25 fps Quicktime .mov files correctly.

They get passed off to ffdshow as 29.97 fps instead of 25fps. This problem does not happen with the internal Media Player Classic MP4/MOV splitter.

When playing the EVO files from Aeon Flux HD DVD haali forwards a framerate of 23.975 instead of 23.976. This in turn screws up the sound sync making spdif output impossible (the only workaround is using timestretched pcm to compensate for the errorenous frame rate). This happens on a lot of HDDVD Vc-1 evos, but not on all of them (sometimes it also reports 29.970 on a progressive 23.976 stream) ! something seems wrong with optaining/computing the framerate when parsing evob files.

The fps value in mediatype has no meaning in DShow. Are you sure you checked the actual timestamps during playback?

haali, any chance that there will be options in gdsmux implemented like dts, flac etc. support (can only add ac3 tracks manually) and fps changing of the video stream (at least via a timecode option field, if not possible any other way) ?
Thanks !

mkvmerge already does all those things. I'm sure Haali doesn't have infinite resources. So wouldn't it be better to use the available resources for something which isn't already available? Just my 2 cents...

Additional filetypes are implemented by DShow source/parser filters. I think dts and flac should be available already.

Timestamp overrides are fairly easy to add, but I'd rather fix wrong timestamps generation in the first place. So far all samples that I have result in correct timestamps, and I have no way to reproduce your problems.

Im just asking because I have some trouble with demuxing & remuxing the video stream from some skyHD caps h264 .ts to .mkv, either Ill get glitches in the .mkv or it wont be really playable at all (closes at once when opened). with gdsmux I could at least have 1 proper muxing, when muxing from .ts to .mkv, then everything should play smoothly so far. my problem is though, that I have to add additional audiotracks sometimes and change fps rate of the video to 23,976, which wont be possible though, because I cant remux the already muxed .mkv any more, it wont playback then (closing directly after opening), no matter how I try to remux it, either with mkvmerge or gdsmux, and what changes I do, even when its nothing but changing the name.
thats why implenting this in gdsmux could help me, since it might work just with just 1 muxing for me then.

madshi
3rd May 2007, 17:09
@Haali, I've just had a chat with another guy who complained about how bad the professional TS muxing tools are. Then I thought: "Haali is the TS guru". Would it be a lot of work to add a "Haali TS muxer" to your set of DirectShow filters? Please disregard my suggestion, if it would cost a lot of time to implement and/or if you don't have fun/interest in doing it. It would be quite awesome, though.

Thunderbolt8

I put the skyHD h264 .ts cap once again in gdsmux, entered 1920x1988 as AR, muxed and everything was fine. used this .mkv file the with mkv2vfr, apparently it changed the fps to 23,976 via timestamp option and it gave me an avi file with ~same size, but it couldnt be opened with any player and mkvmerge said avi file has no video data

Hi Haali,

Is parsing VC-1 from MP4 and muxing it into MP4 supported in the filter yet? The MP4 registration authority has already approved VC-1 in MP4 (http://www.mp4ra.org/codecs.html) and SMPTE recently published Recommended Practice 2025-2007 ("VC-1 Bitstream Storage in the ISO Base Media File Format") document.

Haali

No. I'll add it some day if I get the documentation.

Interesting release! I appreciate better AVC support and support LPCM and subtitles in TS streams.

However, this version is no longer compatible with mkvmerge: mkv files created with the matroska filter that contain VC1 tracks can no longer be appended using mkvmerge. It means it is no longer possible to remux HDDVD which have two parts.

In addition the two samples EVO file I have mentioned a few posts ago still give garbage when played.

Anyway thanks for the continued support.

It means it is no longer possible to remux HDDVD which have two parts.
I'm usually using EvoDemux to remux the two EVO parts into one. Afterwards I'm using the Haali filters to convert the combined EVO to MKV. Works fine on most HDDVDs.

No. I'll add it some day if I get the documentation.

The SMPTE421M-2006 document ( http://store.smpte.org/product-p/smpte%20421m-2006.htm ) costs $300 just by itself.

RP-227 ( http://store.smpte.org/product-p/rp%20227-2006.htm ) costs $44.

RP-228 ( http://store.smpte.org/product-p/rp%20227-2006.htm ) costs $40.

I'm not sure if these were the docs you were looking for. The first one is pretty expensive.

I didn't see RP 2025:2007 anywhere there. Apparently it hasn't been released publically unless I'm looking in the wrong place.

No. I'll add it some day if I get the documentation.
Do you think VC-1 parsing be much different than parsing AVC? I haven't seen the SMPTE docs yet, but I'm guessing there's minimal overhead added to the VC-1 bitstream as it's already pretty self contained.

Haali
6th May 2007, 15:56
No, I refer to a particular method of storing sequence headers in stsd and the stsd codec ID. VC1 bitstream itself is rather easy to parse.

(1) Bug or by design: Softsub-Embedded Fonts-Default (Load=ask me) doesn't ask me anything if the embedded font is in non-default track (e.g. mkv + eng(def) & rus subs, where there are embedded fonts for rus). The embedded font doesn't work as a result. If Load=yes, it works.

Edit: Probably (1) is not a real bug. Haali Splitter doesn't ask me anything about embedded fonts now for some reason, even if that setting is "ask me", so I guess Windows is again messed up, not Haali Splitter's fault. Embedded fonts work if it is "Yes" so it's practically okay too.

(2) Wish: accept .TTC just like .TTFs as a src file of embedded fonts.

Edit:
(2)' .OTF, similarly.

Is it possible to make Haali Simple Media Splitter autoloading? I can manually insert it into a graph in Graphedit, I've changed its' merit but it is never autoloaded even if I unlink Haali Media Splitter using DSFM. I just do not want built-in audio stream and subtitles switching feature.

Through the registry is the only way I know how to do it. Maybe someone has an easier method but here is mine:

1. Open the Registry
2. Go To HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Media Type\{e436eb83-524f-11ce-9f53-0020af0ba770}\{49952F4C-3EDC-4A9B-8906-1DE02A3D4BC2}
3. Change the CLSID value in "Source Filter" to the one associated with Haali's Simple Media Splitter.
4. Remember to do it all over again when you install a new version of the splitter since it will change it back to the complex splitter.

Hope this helps.

Edit: I also change the "Source Filter" value in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Media Type\{e436eb83-524f-11ce-9f53-0020af0ba770}\{1AC0BEBD-4D2B-45AD-BCEB-F2C41C5E3788}. But I think this key only shows up if you have Gabest's Matroska Splitter installed.

o Fixed some minor bugs in GDSMux chapter editor.
o Fixed next/prev segment IDs generation and reading in GDSMux.
o Other improvements and bugfixes.
As always, thanks for Haali for the new version!

For me, there's one specific improvement: It seems that I can now successfully mux all Apple HD trailers to MKV. Muxing h264 EVO files (e.g. The Departed trailer or the Equilibrium movie) to MKV still doesn't seem to work, though.

@Haali, one question: Which new audio/video formats did you add to your muxer?

any support yet?
its h264+he-aac packed in a transport steam
its stream type 0x11 (HE-AAC) that i cant find anything to split :(

ArcSoft TotalMedia 3 supports both H.264 and HE-AAC v1.

Here are the download links :
ftp://ftp.upmost.com.tw/pub/UPMOST/driver/video/avtv/ad250/TotalMedia3_070228.zip
http://www.arcsoft.com/support/downloads/downloadview.asp?downloadid=306
only need a splitter that can splitt the transport file!

Sample > http://nwgat.net/ts/NTV%20722000%2003-28%2022-06-42.ts

time is soon running out its only 4 months left until the digital tv in norway starts airing and there is zero directshow splitter to split the sound and video!, so no Media Center PC with Digital TV for me :(

Why would you do that? (I'm just curious.)
Because of these reasons:

(1) I like to have everything in MKV.
(2) The h264 MOV Apple trailers do not play correctly on my MPC setup. I have to rename them to MP4, then they play. That doesn't "feel good". Muxing them to MKV feels safer to me.
(3) Having everything in MKV helps automating some stuff.
(4) I know the MKV tools very well.

But there's no real killer need to remux the trailers. Renamed to MP4 they play fine as they are. But it's sure "nice" that remuxing them works now.

I don't have to rename them (it's working that way too), but I rename them to distinguish between the new and the old ones.

But it's sure "nice" that remuxing them works now.
No question about it ... :)

In the latest version (v1.7.189.11) it still has the problem splitting Quicktime .mov files that are 25fps SVQ3 for ffdshow. When using the Haali splitter it sends the file to the ffdshow SVQ3 filter at 29.976 fps instead of 25 fps.

The Haali filter has become the best demuxer around. It is a shame it still has a few issues. I report them here hoping Haali will find some time to fix them.

- EVO file with VC1
There are a couple of HDDVD that have some VC1 tracks that cause some trouble to the Haali filter t. I posted two samples a few months ago. Here is a copy of the second one in case it is no longer available:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/65vev9

When played this sample used to show complete garbage. The latest version of Haali plays it fine but one only if the VC1 decoder is ffdshow. If the decoder is Wmvideo or if the file is remuxed to a matroska file using Haali matroska muxer then the garbage is back.

- EVO with VC1 incompatible with Haali filter + ffdshow in the chain
The issue is still there, when played the video is accelerated to 29.97 fps as if the repeat flag is ignored. It is sad no issue has been found to this problem so far since it would save lot of time by avoiding to remux to matroska file to play a VC1 file at a proper speed.

- Bluray AVC muxed to matroska
A Bluray movie that contains an AVC video track which is muxed to a matroska file becomes unseekable (or very slow to seek) while seeking is fast in the original file.

- EVO with DTS HD muxed to matroska
If an EVO file contains some DTS HD and is remuxed to a matroska file, the remuxing won't finish, usually 1/3 to 1/2 is muxed then it waits undefinetely. Note the DTS core is kept and the HD is lost which is fine since there aren't any DTS HD decoder around. Playback of the DTS HD is also troublesome as it creates some stutter.

- EVO with file remuxed to matroska
An EVO that contains a VC1 video and remuxed to a matroska file confuses Reclock as the latter reports a 25 fps frame rate instead of 23.97. It seems it has to do with the way the timestamps are written or maybe the mkv lacks any hint about the fps since the fps is properly reported by Reclock if the matroska file is created using mkvtoonix with the "time code option"

- gsdemux crash
if after a remux to a matroska file the source is removed in the left pane, this causes a crash of gsdemux. By the way is it normal that the non graphical version of gsdemux doesn't allow to ignore some tracks in the muxing?

I can provide other samples if needed. I do hope some of these issues can be fixed. That would make the Haali filters the ultimate set needed for a HTPC. Thanks in advance.

some problems found while playing HD DVD and Blu-ray files with Haali splitter

Blu-ray:
- type 0x85 DTS:
Haali doesn't recognize this type of DTS. Seems to be DTS HD Lossy Matrix (DTS HD High Resolution Audio?)

- broken picture with some VC-1 video

HD DVD:
- very fast and inaudible playback of some DTS tracks

I can provide samples as requested.

I've just started playing with this & I can play all the video types without any problems
As a total noob this is probably a very silly problem that only I have.
I start in graphedit and open the .EVO or .m2ts by inserting the Haali Media splitter filter.

HD-DVD Haali Media Splitter,

Blu-Ray Haali Media Splitter,
(video) Nvidia PureVideo Decoder, VMR Video Renderer
(audio) DScaler audio decoder (or FFDShow audio decoder), Default Directsound device
http://img238.imageshack.us/img238/3091/bighitat9.th.jpg (http://img238.imageshack.us/my.php?image=bighitat9.jpg)

But I want to get the HD-DVD sound without using the Sonic audio filter, can anyone suggest an alternative that works?
I would really like to get this working without having to install Scenarist or the Cineplayer codec pack.

I'll add a few things regarding DTS, Haali's mkv splitter and Cyberlink's audio decoder installed by PowerDVD.

It doesn't matter the source of the DTS stream inside a mkv file (rips of simple DVD discs that had DTS tracks, no need for the new HD format discs)

mkv file with DTS audio track inside -> Haali's splitter -> Cyberlink's audio decoder = high speed video playback while the audio is played back normally; the timeline in MPC or Zoomplayer is not normal

mkv file with DTS audio track inside -> Haali's splitter -> ffdshow's audio decoder = normal playback

mkv file with DTS audio track inside -> Gabest's old mkv splitter (either the internal MPC one or the external one) -> Cyberlink's audio decoder = normal playback

mkv file with DTS audio track inside -> Gabest's old mkv splitter (either the internal MPC one or the external one) -> ffdshow's audio decoder = normal playback

yonta, in your case, do you use Cyberlink's audio decoder to decode the DTS audio track ?

ffdshow plays fine dts audio tracks from nero splitter or sonic demuxer.

@sarah99

No, theres no ther Decoder avaibele for DD+ decoding in directshowpalyers.

Other Option is NeroDecoders activaed from HDDVD/BR Plugin
Simply rename the player .exe to recode.exe and you can use NeroDecoder

The Problme with both is, that they apply full DynamciRangeC and DialogNor....then you have by far less Dynamcis.
Because its not possible to dectivate it in Directshow Apps

By the Way , im still not able to play (properly)remuxed VC1 in mkv smooth on my Machine.
Its a A64 X2 4800 ,2gb Rma,ati x800xt pe ,i can play all 1080p Codecs smooth.
Cyberlinks VC1 Decoder use ~80% on 1080p VC1...dont know whats the Problem with Haali-WMVideoDecoder (or SonicVC1Decoder)

Works fine for me here with Haali -> MS VC1. I do run my freshly muxed HD DVD MKVs through mkvmerge, though, to rewrite the timecodes. Maybe that makes the difference?

@ACrowley

I have a similar machine, no problems playing VC-1 at 1080p. I use ffdshow and set WVC1 decoding to "wmv9". Make sure that you installed the wvc1dmo.exe codec package.

And I use the same procedure as madshi for post-processing the remuxed mkv.

yeah sure...i know it all :)

Ofcourse i remxued it properly with 23.976 Timecode in mkvmerge

Also i tried it with ffdshow and with WM11 Codec

It will not work! Video starts playing ok and after a few seconds its in slowmotion.
I know a lot of people with same Problems. Only remuxed VC1 in mkv will not work.
Reencoded WVC1 in 1080p CBR or VBR run perfect

But its no big Problem for me..i encode all my HDDVD/Bluray to 1080p x264 and use it for playback
And PowerDVD plays HDDVD VC1 100% smooth .

wvc1dmo.exe is outdated. Install WM11SDk or WMP11.
Both includes latest (W)VC1 Codec

Is there an official installer for the latest VC1 Codec other than the SDK or WMP 11? I don't need or want anything but the codecs themselves.

Well, that's perhaps not entirely true - WM Format runtime contains other WM components - ASF readers/writers, DMO wrappers for DShow, WM DRM, etc.

It'd be more accurate to say that WM Format runtime is WMP install without the player. :)

Would it be possible to just install the files that handle VC1? I've already extracted the installer files. What files do I need from the archive and is there anything I need to do to install them other than just copying them somewhere?

The DMO codecs are COM components just like DirectShow filter, so simply regsvr32-ing them should be sufficient, but I don't think I've ever tried that.

I'll give you a hint: wmvdmod.dll is the old (pre-v11) decoder, wmvdecod.dll is the new (v11) decoder. If you've got wvc1dmod.dll present, you'd probably want to unregister that one too, as wmvdecod.dll handles both WMV3 and WVC1 decoding.

here is a bug report:
Haali Matroska Splitter crashes Vista Media Center, here is how
1. you install haali with mkv enabled
2. you add some folders with mkv files
3. go to a folder with mkv files
4. Vista Media Center will create tumbnails and it crashes

so the problem lays where haali makes tumbnails, as i can watch mkv files in vista media center but everytime haali makes tumbnails it crashes vista media center
