Hi again:
I renamed the subdirectories "DOS" style. FPOR\VIDEO_TS contains the original movie. When selecting output location, I called it FPNE. The 3rd subdirectory asked for, I called it FPTE. I renamed the sup file PSESP.sup (originally this file had a long name with spaces in-between). This time, I didn't mark "Position the original ...".
I hit start and the same problem re-occurred. On the top of the window it says 66% of authoring done... On the bottom it says:
VobBlanker is updating the original DVD.
Free space in the hardrive is 139Gb.
When I take a look into the Remuxed subdirectory I see a VIDEO_TS.IFO of 0KB, and VTS_01_1->4. No VTS_01_0. No other file. The original project has 7 title_sets.
MuxManlog says at the very beginning:
MuxMan version 0.15R
Opened script file J:\FPTE\SC_TEMP\MuxManProject.mxp
Accepted video J:\FPTE\SC_TEMP\VideoFile.m2v size = 3765030293
Accepted audio J:\FPTE\SC_TEMP\AudioFile_80.ac3
Accepted audio J:\FPTE\SC_TEMP\AudioFile_81.ac3
Opened sub 1 file J:\FPTE\SC_TEMP\Subpictures_20.sup.
Opened sub 2 file J:\FPOR\PSESP.sup.
After all the processing it says:
Fields: 258074, VOBU: 8602, Sectors: 1976100.
Video decoder buffer underflowed 3 times.
Check c:\muxman.log for details.
Resulting DVD will probably not play smoothly.
The moment I accept the error message, the Remuxed subdirectory disappears.
Another side effect I noticed. When I start VobBlanker after running SC, it's window is gone. Luckily, there is a "Remove_VobBlanker_WindowCoordinates.reg" that when run, brings the window back. VobBlanker version is 2.1.3.0
That's it.

The moment I accept the error message, the Remuxed subdirectory disappears.
That's normal because the remuxed directory is considered a temporary directory thus deleted by SC after the process has been completed to save HDD space.
After that does VobBlanker run or not?
I didn't really understand if you could complete your new DVD or not.
The final resulting files will be located in a VIDEO_TS directory.

No ... I don't get the dvd done. It seems that VobBlanker starts and crash almost immediately ... and doesn't do much. The folder that is supposed to contain the final movie, only contains 2 files... vts_01_0.vob (65Kb) and vts_01_1.vob (0Kb). Nothing else.
Excuse me if I confused you. I use VobBlanker often as a standalone application. What I meant to say is this.
1. MuxMan seems to finish. At least you can see some files in that Remux folder.
2. VobBlanker seems to start, and you can read the message that states that VobBlanker is updating the original DVD and almost immediately the error message appears.
3. When I accept the error message, the remux folder disappears and there are only those two files that I mentioned above on the folder that is supposed to contain the final project.
4. Then ... if I start on my own VobBlanker to do something else, is that I see that the main window is gone. After running the "Remove_VobBlanker_WindowCoordinates.reg" file, VobBlanker works again normally.
SC starts VobBlanker, but I never see any evidence of VobBlanker running, other than the message on the bottom of the SC window and the error message in its own window.
Just reading the error message, it seems that VobBlanker can't find a file in Remux. If that is the case, it would seem that the file has not been created or is somewhere else. I don't know which application creates the Remux folder, but this application is not placing there all the files that VobBlanker is expecting to find.

I seem to have found a timing bug with the latest version. After editing the timing of a subtitle it does not take affect until you resave the srt and reload it. This is quite the pain because than I have to scroll back down to the line I was working on. This is the only method to get the timing modification that I make to appear in the preview feature.
Also can you please make the window remember it's size and position? Also the size of the panel is not saved either so I can read all the subtitle position adjustments I have to always resize the video panel.
Feature Request: I would like to see the full time shown. Not just hh:mm but hh:mm:ss,z this way it would make it alot easier for modifying timing. Currently it's a real pain.. guestimate adjustment from just the hh:mm > modify time > save > reload > test new timing.

Do you mean only with the latest version (and which one?). Also what do you mean by it does not take effect?

Could you please post a screen copy because I don't know which screen of SC you are writing about.

Version 2.2. When I edit the timing of the subtitle in the SRT file and than do a preview the timing still uses the old timing not the new timing adjustment. I have to save the srt than reload the srt than I can test for timing.
Screenshot shows the upper panel. When I drag the panel size down it does not remember the panel size. Everytime I load the software I have to resize the panel. Not how the default size has the font positioning controls truncated.

BTW a question for you.. after I convert my srt to sup I notice that the muxed timing is off by about a half to one second off. Is their an easy method to fix this or is this a minor bug with srt to sup conversion? If I can figure out how far off the timing is maybe I can compensate for it in srt making it slightly off to hopefully improve on the timing of the sup conversion. I convert the srt to sup than use dvd authoring and since the video originally has no subtitles I can not use the other method to try to synchronize the sup.
And last question I have is how do I get the subtitle colors to save? After muxing the colors are not the colors I chose at all.

Hi,
I had a look at your sup file. There is a sup + an idx file. Normally it's a sub plus an idx. I checked and in your case you don't need the idx file. Just delete it (or rename it) and only open the sup file. Did you try to open the idx file?
Otherwise, I don't really understand your problem.
I have tried previous version too. Problem occurs everytime I launch program. I could bypass it
How did you bypass it? Try to deselect the following : Settings -> Automatically load last used subtitle file. And Save Settings. Then close and open again. Tell me what happens.

Just wanted to drop by the thread and say I'm still using this product and thanks for the time you have spent on it. Even with the NTSC timing bug it's really useful for what I've been using it for (srt to vobsub conversion). I haven't explored all of the features, but the fact that you have been dropping in this forum and responsive is very impressive.

Thanks FitzGerald,
I try to do my best. This message just to tell you that we are still working to prepare a new version with bug fixes (my part) and new features (Paddington's part). For example it should be possible to use bitmaps to generate SUP or VobSub files.... Also Overlapping subs with again be enabled. For the NTSC bug, it's still on my TODO list but as you proposed a fix I didn't put it on the very top. Anyway depending on the release date it may be fixed by then.
Just be patient.

Are there any plans to implement support for BD SUP files the way there is for HD DVD SUP's?
manusse
6th March 2008, 21:32
Yes, there are but for now, I am busy fixing annoying bugs and enhancing a bit working features and Paddington is busy adding cool new features. Unfortunately BD-SUP won over HD-SUP although HD-SUP were not very much different from SD-SUP and implementation was quite easy. For BD-SUP you'll have to wait a bit. I hope we will implement it in 2008.

Hi Kurtnoise,
Paddington is actively enhancing SC so it may occur that you are compiling a non stabilized version. I've just tried to compile the last updated files and there was no problem. I could succesfuly compile it. It may also depend on what version of SharpDevelop you are using (I am using v2.2.0 build 2595).
EDIT: Also I remember now that I had the exact same error because Internet Explorer 7 was installed on my PC. I removed it and installed IE6.0 and it worked. However I can't explain why.

You don't need the OCR to convert your sup files to sub/idx. Just open your sup file (Tools->Manipulate...) and save it as sub/idx (vobsub).
That's it.

Works great!
Considering what time it always took to create .srt files for my former standalone player, it's a blessing that this player handles vobsub files. :D
Okay fine. Last thing I have to to is read me into handling forced subs the best way there is. I've noticed within the .idx file a forced sub option. That's what I was always missing when using .srt files on my old standalone.

Hi,
This is my 1st post.
I'm having a little problem with SC displaying a DVD video properly.
In Format I select PAL; in Settings, DVD decoder/Selected by System (otherwise I get a black screen). I can display the video, but the image is cropped heavily at the bottom, like a 1/4 of the screen. Sometimes I cannot see the writing in the DVD menu, therefore I cannot even select anything and I am stuck. Even if I enlarge the screen, the bottom part is cropped. If I play the movie, I can see overlayed subs on DVD - just the image is cropped.
I'm not sure, but it is probably something to do with the video decoder and SC. I don't know what decoder my system uses. I have a little utility - GSpot - that can help in that, but I don't know how to "force" using a specific decoder.
BTW, when I see a DVD with WMP or JRiver Media Center I have no problem of "screen cutting".
Any help would be apprreciated. Thanks.

Hi Manusse,
Where is "Tools->Manipulate" at current version now ?
Removed ? I hope not. It is useful.
manusse
8th April 2008, 21:46
Hi tomywong,
Did you compile a beta? The Tools->Manipulate has been removed because it has now been integrated with the srt file opening. You can now just open a SUP or VobSub file like a srt file (File->Open).
By the way there are a bunch of bug fixes (mostly by me) and of cool new features (mostly by Paddington who is back), that will come with next version of SC. But the current code has some bugs so you'll have to wait before an official release.
Currently I'm on the VobSub NTSC bug and hope to fix it soon.
I want also to fix the last line bug but I need the help of some users that can help me reproduce it. Currently i'm not able to reproduce it with SC 2.2 so if one of the users interested and able to easily reproduce the bug reads this, please contact me (Anime? Ercofra? others?).
I'm sure you'll like the new version.

It might be helpful if you would install the preferred DVD decoder (PowerDVD), e.g. regsvr32 CLVSD.ax and try it again (I assume that you moved the horizontal slider down). The decoder itself is often part of several codec suites that you can download too (k-lite, if I recall, is one of them). Or you can try to Google for it too.

To know what decoder you are using, just play a DVD with SC and right click on the video, select About and see what's written after DVD decoder. If your decoder is not the preferred one, try to install it (PowerDVD 4 or PowerDVD 6, see Paddington's message).

Paddington and manusse,
Thanks for your replies.
Unfortunately, I haven't yet solved my problem.
I am using SC v2.2.
Following your instructions, I noticed that I was using Elecard DVD Decoder, so I swapped to Cyberlink's PowerDVD. I installed CLVSD.AX v8.1 from KLite Pack (just the portion I needed). However, in SC I get audio but no video (black screen). In the DVD menu, I could still click on a portion of the screen to have the DVD starting, although with no image. By right clicking on the screen I can see that I am now employing Cyberlink Video/SP DVD decoder.
I have tried using CLVSD.AX v6.2, after unregistering the other vervion, but the result was the same.
I can still playback fine a DVD in other applications though.
It seems to me that in SC the DirectX chain for DVD playback is somehow broken...I could be wrong. Maybe it is something very simple to have the DVD image back. Any help?
Thanks
