If I un-tick "use untouched audio", dts track will get re-encoded? I just want the DTS track remuxed as-is.

There are several kinds of DTS tracks: DTS, DTS High Res, DTS Master Audio & DTS Express. Maybe even more.
Some of them have a normal DTS (like on DVD) core. This one is used if "use dts core" is checked. There is no conversion - just the normal DTS core is used. If "use untouched audio" is checked all other audio settings are ignored.

Just a small suggestion (brought about by something I ran into today)!

I was processing my Xmas gift "The Dark Knight" and realised (because I've watched it!) that scenes change from AR 2.35 to 16:9 and back ....

This played havoc with "AutoCrop" that kept randomly getting 2.35 frames and wanted to crop ... Sure, at the time I fixed it by going Setting > Advanced Options > AutoCrop Settings > "Enabled" Edit AutoCrop values by hand and then waited for AutoCrop to be run to manually set cropping to 0,0,0,0 ...

Anyway, my suggestion was perhaps having a setting within the "Advanced Options" > "AutoCrop Settings" to "DISABLE" autocrop, or (if wanting to prevent clutter) when a zero (0) is entered in "Number of frames to analyze" it is automatically disabled (I thought I would be smart and try zero, but it throws an error when Autocrop is invoked and it causes the entire conversion to hault!) ...

Keep up the good work _hawk_, this is definately one of the best GUIs for BD conversion!!

I have used and *loved* BluRip on my Vista 32 bit system for just under a year. What a fantastic tool! And it's wonderful how quickly you add suggested features, fix bugs, and answer user questions. Thanks so much!

I finally upgraded my media system to Win7 64 to take advantage of all of its RAM. While reinstalling BluRip and all of its external tools, I've been getting the latest 64 bit versions wherever possible.

Demuxing goes fine, and completes successfully. I've installed and set the paths to all of my external tools. When I get to AutoCrop, I get this error:

Atm you will need 32bit avisynth and 32bit avisynth plugins (e.g. ffmpegsrc).
You can use the 64bit x264 with avs2yuv (its a bit faster then the 32bit this way).
I will try if a complete 64bit support will be faster. I would need to rewrite the avisynth wrapper dll then.

Because development has pretty much stalled with Haali I've moved to MPC-HC, aka Gabest, splitter on my system. It's more actively developed and works perfectly for BluRay playback. However, I realized today that BluRip won't demux with anything but Haali. Is this a bug with my system or a limitation of BluRip?

I think eac3to needs haali. You can disable demuxing to mkv under advanced video options of the video track. There might be problems indexing the video file then.

A couple suggestions.
-Remove the sound when muxing starts or make it toggable and disabled by default. I don't see why it would important to know by sound when muxing starts.
-Show the "|" character when clicking in the path. I use the path to faster set the target filename, thought without "|" it's hard to select the text with the keyboard.

I don't think it's new. Though some people thought only video/audio header compression needed to be disabled. I doesn't seems so. I don't have a hardware player myself (using a HTPC). I just read about this so I'd though I'd suggest it.

Unfortunately, you can only disable header compression for the audio and video streams on default in the newest MKVMerge. For subtitles, you have to manually disable it every time in the advanced options.

I'm not sure if this has been reported yet but I noticed a bug with the interface. If you leave the About window open (Help > About) while the program is demuxing, it doesn't start muxing after demuxing finishes until you close the About window. I was wondering why it was still demuxing when I woke up this morning but it continued as soon as I closed the About window. I'm not too sure if other windows/menus will do the same thing but this is just a minor snag.

In any case, keep up the great work.!

On some Blu-Ray are 2 subtitles streams for every language and if we have some information about the size of stream (or bitrate like in BD Info) we can know which is the forced stream and finally select only the desired track:

Hi,

I just start using blurip 0.5.2, looks a very nice tool, but I have a problem with subtitles.
I want to rip the Inception bluray
If I choose "mux all subtitles (sub/idx)", then, when I activate subtitle on my PCH A110, it says "unsupported format".
If I choose "mux untouched subtitles (PGS), then strictly nothing happens when I activate subtitles on my A110, however, vlc displays the subtitles correctly.

Note that in both cases, mediainfo actually reports the correct subtitles in the final mkv file, so it looks more a problem with the PCH, but if someone can help, I would appreciate.

Afaik only the 200 series supports pgs subs.
Both series do not support highres sub/idx. In blurip there is an option to mux lowres sub/idx. They should work with the a110.

Is there a known issue about ripping interlaced video.
I tried to rip 2 blu-ray which have video format 1080i50 and 1080i60, but Blurip simply crashes on both of them while "indexing / Cropping", I cannot even get a log since blu-rip hangs...

It seems BluRip doesn't write any meaningful message (except "Return code: 1") in the log if there's not enough space to demux. I tried demuxing a BD a couple times and couldn't figure out what was wrong. All I got was an error sound. I finally saw that I didn't have enough space.

This is all that's written at the end before it stops demuxing.

All my recent remuxes with Swedish subtitles are labeled as Northern Sami (Finnish). I thought it was maybe because of the mkvtoolnix upgrade, but it didn't help downgrading to 4.4.0.

edit: It seems the reason this happens is because "preferred subtitle" (stream selection) is bugged. When I removed Swedish from the settings and chose the Swedish subtitle manually it was correctly labeled as Swedish instead of Finnish when muxed.

Hi Hawk you may remember a few posts last year on HD-DVD conversion http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1460296#post1460296 ... Just restested in 0.5.2 and still have the "Unknown" stream issue for TrueHD, and Subtitles.

I'm just trying to remux the streams as is into MKV (the only thing that may be slightly different is that the HD-DVD use an extended version of DVD subtitles so I don't know if they need to be converted or not at this stage).

This is open source right? As it seems it's not developed anymore couldn't someone pick it up? :) At least fix the current bugs.

This is a great project _hawk_ , I actually don't run into any "bugs" as such!!

However, there is some functionality improvements that would make the whole process a little more streamline! Like:

Autocrop:
- There should be an option to disable it outright (maybe in the "Advanced Settings" > "AutoCrop settings" recognise "Zero" in "Number of frames to analyse" as "disabled")
- For a title like Alice in Wonderland (1951) remastered on BD autocrop only does vertical croping, not horizontal autocropping (final res used was 1424 x 1080, but is this even possible with Autocrop!)

Subtitles:
- Selecting "Mux only first normal/forced subtitle" with forced subtitles presently results in two subtitle tracks (my impression is this option should generate 1 subtitle track being the first one if no forced subtitles are found, or just the forced subtitle if present, but not both)

Advanced Setting > "Audio"
- Maybe some way of "remembering" the "advanced" alterations made with right clicking streams (I often select the lossless audio track, but use that to convert to 640kbps AC3 with the eac3to parameter of "normalize", would be great of somehow remembering these advanced settings so I can use them on all projects!) ...

But either way, it's a great project and I haven't had any real "bugs" to report at all!!

Iam glad to hear that development is continued.
So far i dont have any bugs to post.
Blurip is the best tool to extract the movie, different audio streams, subtitles and mux into one *.mkv.

But i have a question concering Haali splitter blurip uses.

On my HTPC i'am using LAV filters instead of Haali. But if i unregister Haali filters, BluRip fails to generate the *.mkv file.

So are there any options to get BluRip to use LAV filters instead of Haali ?

Would it be possible to have the option to mux the output in an m2ts container? I use blurip-rips with my wdtv live, and it seems to be a problem when using mkv`s with TrueHd audio. I have not tried yet, but read somewhere that TrueHd is not good in mkv with the wdtv, but that it should work in an m2ts container. I`m not sue if it the problem is the wdtv or the mkv container, either way I read it should work with m2ts... Could it also be possible to implement so that the file-prefix, target filename and movie title are automatically filled in with something sensible after reading the disc? And by the way, great program! Does everything I looked for, I especially like that one can convert the pgs subtitles.

When I extract the movie I often run into the Haali limitation that it should be using the -seektoiframes option. I don't see a way to add this argument into the GUI but this would be really useful otherwise I have to do all the command prompts.

Besides, does the seektoiframes option make any difference for 1:1 video extraction? I don't see anything when I watch it later.
