It didn't actually put dgmultisource in the .avs (which may be a seperate bug).

The avs wont open in vdub either - same error - "Could not find a video track"

I was planning on doing a writeup on BluRip, but had a few questions/issues:

1 - I was trying to create an mkv from a BluRay disc (District 9). I have kept the Video and Audio settings at untouched. When I click start I see in the status bar the demuxing starts but then the whole process just stops. This is what the log shows

1) I have a problem to read the eac3to error output (guess it's a problem with colors on standard error)
Try to execute the eac3to command on a shell. Maybe there is a problem with the haali splitter.

2) If you use untouched video autocrop isn't used at all.
Theoretically all input methods should give the same result.
On win 7 you will need some manual tweaking to use vc-1 with directshow (Windows 7 filter tweaker). If you have a DGDecNV license this should be the prefered input method.

3) aq-mode

Adaptive Quantization Mode

Default: 1

Without AQ, x264 tends to underallocate bits to less-detailed sections. AQ is used to better distribute the available bits between all macroblocks in the video. This setting changes what scope AQ re-arranges bits in:

* 0: Do not use AQ at all.
* 1: Allow AQ to redistribute bits across the whole video and within frames.
* 2: Auto-variance AQ (experimental) which attempts to adapt strength per-frame.

Should be set to 0 for animation movies

autocrop.dll is an own (C++) dll. If it can't open a video with directshow (e.g. vc-1 on win7 without tweaking) it will also fail for the encode. The autocrop dll just uses an avisynth wrapper to display the video picture.

OK, I solved the problem. When I was trying to create the mkv in the Advanced Settings for the DTS(MA) audio track I had ticked off "Add additional AC3 track" but had not filled in any of the information. Can you explain exactly what needs to be entered here. For example, there is the field to enter the extension (i.e. .ac3) but then the drop down box right next to the field has the same option. So what I want to accomplish is to create a secondary 5.1 640kbps AC3 audio track in addition to the primary DTS(MA) audio track.

Source m2ts manually indexes fine with DGIndexNV.

BluRip puts the video into mkv from m2ts with eac3to. Then, it indexes mkv with DGIndexNV. When it tries to open the avs it gets:

"Could not find a video track in the matroska file"

What parameters do you use with DGIndexNV when you index the mkv?

Could you add the details (path to exe, parameters used, etc) of all the external utilities to the log file (like you do with eac3to.exe)? That will help with troubleshooting.

hope fully i havent missed anything....


I now got the streams reading ok in BluRip + app paths all set ok, I`m using the eac3to.exe NOT the eac3to more GUI as Blurip doesnt like that.

At the moment it will let me pick up a stream EG: 480i/60/4:3 and It`ll convert it nicely to .mkv with a AVC video stream+ac3 audio. X720x576.

If i set the `Auto-Resize` to OFF and manally specify a lower Resolution (for tests i wanted lower res output as it processes faster) it just ignore my setting and just outputs 720x480, same as above.


main prob for me ATM is:
If set an input source of 1080/24 it Demuxes fine then fails encoding.

Hi,
You should add that only forced strings from the normal subs track are correctly/automatically handled, if forced subs are in a separate stream then you'll need to handle them manually since the tool used to convert subs doesn't detect forced stream but only forced text inside a stream.

Suggestion for _hawk_:

If forced subtitles are not found in the main subtitles then look for subtitles that are at least smaller than 1/20th the size of the main subtitles and mux them instead.

I usually only need one subtitle (which is German). This means all german subtitles are demuxed according to my settings in blurip. Now let´s suggest 2 german subtitles are found and demuxed.
The first subtitle is a large one (14MB) and does not contain forced subtitles. Its the one that is present during the whole movie. The second one is small (2MB) also does not contain forced subtitles but i can see from the files size that this is the right one for lets say signs or talking aliens. so i choose this one and mux it into the mkv with "forced" flag.

Can you program a "compare subtitle filesize" routine that works like this:

If no forced subtitles are found, use smallest demuxed subtitle available for the chosen language that is at least smaller than 1/20th the size of the main subtitles.

A forced subtitle selection based on size would be possible. But it may also fail if you have some "directors comment" subtitle tracks which also may be small.
I think there will be no perfect solution.
If it's possible (for me) I'll add some preview function for the subtitle tracks..

Well there is one program that does it like that.

Ok, 1080P Source, coundnt upload a sampl as it doesnt finnish the job..

The AutoCrop should not generate negative values..
Do you get a normal image when autocrop runs? Might it be possible to generate a sample of the source? (*.m2ts)

Ok cool, so would this same bug be the cause of failing to encode 1080P source when auto-crop is turned OFF, demuxes, then stops....
SD 480i encodes fine....

There was a bug in the crop calculation which may result in negative values.
There still may be a problem when autocrop is turned off. What settings did you use? (input res etc)

It Demuxes, then leaves me with seperate audio/Video (SOURCE) doesnt encode.

Source m2ts manually indexes fine with DGIndexNV.

BluRip puts the video into mkv from m2ts with eac3to. Then, it indexes mkv with DGIndexNV. When it tries to open the avs it gets:

"Could not find a video track in the matroska file"

What parameters do you use with DGIndexNV when you index the mkv?

Could you add the details (path to exe, parameters used, etc) of all the external utilities to the log file (like you do with eac3to.exe)? That will help with troubleshooting.

Just a reminder to look at this when you have a chance. Specifically the parameters you call dgindexNV with & adding that information for debugging to the logs.

Right ok, I tried to do 3 different test earlier then post logs on each different one, wich just made it confusing...
I Just did 1 test with
1080P Source
Auto crop OFF + set crop values manualy (0000) + set resize manually.
i get 2 logs this way, not just 1 log file.

@levi: Just tried with latest DGDecNV and it worked as expected. Did you set both autocrop & encode input methode to dgmultisource? Does autocrop work?

Errr, I`ve tried several different resolutions as output, BluRip finnishes after a few seconds ....I did mention before that SD INPUT was ok, encoding too... i just tried todo an SD encode to compare the Log but its not playing ball. I`m gonna wipe the settings and start over fresh.

I also notice near the bottom of the log It has this error Script error: there is no function named "Undot".... ?

Ok, I set it all back up again, SD 480i INPUT now demuxes/anylizes/encodes fine with the output fully `Auto`..... (after setting up I see that "empty" was top of the selction box not "undot", i dont remeber changing it.)

Also, looking back at the SD 480i SOURCE....like i say, works fine on Auto, but dosent do anything when Auto crop is ON + Manual crop ON (0000) + manual resize (tried severall resolutions, even `same as source`.)
so i dont know why it doesnt `demux or index` instance.

however, if I `borrow` the old (successfull) .avs files + FFINDEX file from the `Auto` project, it encodes fine (set Auto-crop OFF etc....manually resize ON) but as it is using scripts/ffindex temp files from a different project Media info shows that it hasnt `resized` at all, just encoded.

I use the Advanced Audio settings to create the original HD audio track as well as a secondary AC3 track

I'm having the same problem, when i try to do a 1080p source it demuxes the video ,audio and subs but then stops... it doesn't create a single MKV with them.
