If you want to mux you will need a video file. This can be the reencoded one or the untouched. In every case you will need to 'Demux' as first step.

@hawk yes figured that out yesterday. it muxed truehd, however i have stereo speakers and once muxed on mpc-hc while playing i dont hear any audio. is it because i dont have 7.1 speakers?
also on some blurays mkv files created by blurip when i move slider fast in mpc-hc i get garbage screen and my computer restart by itself. wondering if you guys had the same issue. or it happens because of CPU speed?
thanks alot for beautiful program

You will need the right decoder to play TrueHD sound. Maybe VLC can do this. But if you only have Stereo Speakers AC3 audio is more then enough.
Even a damaged mkv should not cause a reboot. Try to use another media player (vlc).
Garbage on sliding may occur depending on used video decoder.

If you hear NO sound (rather than just an odd channel mix), you need a TrueHD decoder. Download and install the latest build of ffdshow-tryouts. Open the audio config and make sure to enable TrueHD and AC3 decoding under "Codecs". You can also set up downmixing in the "Mixer" section.

FYI - I know it is for Blu, but it also works for Red (with some issues). I've alot of HD-DVD that I'm still on the fence on how to convert and I thought I'd try BluRip on these and as you can see from the pic, it will read the EVO but not all the tracks are recognised for some reason.

Can you send me the complete eac3to log? I'll update the string then.
BluRip also works for DVDs - only subtitle handling will need some improvements.

Yep, thanks. Which tracks are not recognized? Only the subtitle tracks?

As per the pic a couple above, the ones marked as not recognised was the:
001: Joined EVO File (odd as it seemed to pick what to use anyway)
005: True HD Track (I could not use this one at all)
006: All the Subs
Thanks

Does anyone have a tutorial for BluRip???
I wrote this guide:
http://www.mediasmartserver.net/2010/08/24/mkvmania-ripping-to-mkv-with-blurip/
It is in no way and end all be all tutorial, but should at least get you started. I am sure _hawk_ can then fill in any additional questions you may have

Ok. The Bluerip link didn't work but code.google.com did. It works now.

I'm not sure if this is a BluRip bug, or that you just have to use BDSup2Sub manually sometimes. I did a remux with SUP to IDX/SUB conversion. Something went wrong, or?
version: blurip_svn144
PGS vs IDX/SUB:
http://www.imagebam.com/image/23c640110328466
http://www.imagebam.com/image/c86b08110328469
Tweaking with the settings in BDSup2Sub it looks a bit better.
http://www.imagebam.com/image/5c786d110330584
I did a remux with subtitle conversion some weeks ago and then it looked fine. Might have been because it was another BD.
Though I don't really need IDX/SUB as I just do remuxes with PGS.

I'm using the latest SVN (142), and I've had problems with muxing.
It's sporadic. Some titles don't mux. There's no indication in the log. It's almost like I didn't click the "mux" checkbox.
This is all happening from the process queue -- since I almost never process only one BDROM at a time, I don't have any idea if this happens during single processing or not.
What's also interesting is that I've got BR set to delete the temp files when done muxing, and it doesn't do that part either. So, I'm able to manually mux the pieces with MKVMerge, but it's getting rather annoying.
When I was using the last release version 0.5.1, I did not have this problem.

Oops. I'm on SVN 148, not 142.

The temp files are deleted in the mux function. So if this is not called for some reason, the temp files are not deleted. I'll try to find out why this happens.

Hi,
I’ve been reading about blurip and it seems like a promising tool, especially for the integrated encoding. I’ve tried to get blurip to work a few times, but I never seem to get an output file.
First, here are my goals:
I want to copy to mkv container with the video converted to 720p
I want several audio tracks, the original HD, AC3, and maybe stereo. I want to be able to have a source file that can be played on a variety of players; media centers, tablet, phones, etc…
I don’t really care about subtitles, but I guess I should keep them if I can.
I’ve ripped a movie with ClownBD (Braveheart), and the file size was around 40GB. My understanding is that by switching to 720p, I could get it under 10GB. This process will mostly be used for kid’s shows so I’m not really concerned about the quality difference between 1080p and 720p. Besides, if I want 1080p, I’ll just put in the disk.
I’ve tried several different options in blurip, but I haven’t had any success yet. I think part of the problem is that it takes so long to error so it’s hard to test. I tried to use DVDfab to rip just 2 chapters but when I loaded the m2ts file into Blurip, the HD audio track wasn’t recognized. It said [003 UNKNOWN ] – (3: TrueHD, etc…, and it doesn’t select the track automatically. Is there a way I could get a smaller file to test with?
I think another potential issue is that I’m using Windows 7 64-bit. I don’t know if I should be using the 64-bit of x264 or the 32-bit version. Can I use either?
Here’s the software I’m using
Anydvd – 6.7.5
Blurip – 0.5.1
Haali – 110109
Java – 1.6.0_23
BDSup2Sub
X264 32-bit 8bit
FFMpegScr – r376
I’ve attached the log file and my settings.xml. I’ve read this entire thread and dbone1026’s guide (http://www.mediasmartserver.net/2010/08/24/mkvmania-ripping-to-mkv-with-blurip/), but I’m still having trouble. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The logs aren't approved yet. You can sent me them per pm.
Which eac3to version did you use? The track type detection is string based. If it's only changed a bit it won't work. Normally TrueHD tracks should work.
You have several option to convert the video.
Untouched will not change the video (needs most space)
Then you can reencode to 1080p with or without cropping.
Or 720p with or without cropping.
With win7-64 you can use both 32 or 64bit x264 (both with 32bit avisynth). The 64bit x264 is used with avs2yuv - but it is still faster this way then the 32bit version.

I sent you a PM with the text from both files
Which eac3to version did you use?
I'm using eac3to version 3.24

Untouched will not change the video (needs most space)
Then you can reencode to 1080p with or without cropping.
Or 720p with or without cropping.
Ah, I was under the impression that "untouched" video meant 1080p. I'm going to have to research cropping. I haven't read much about that yet.
With win7-64 you can use both 32 or 64bit x264 (both with 32bit avisynth). The 64bit x264 is used with avs2yuv - but it is still faster this way then the 32bit version.
So you're saying that on a 64bit system, ideally, I should use 64bit x264 and avs2yuv? And not use the 32bit x264 and avisynth at all?
The track type detection is string based. If it's only changed a bit it won't work. Normally TrueHD tracks should work.
What could I post to show you the issue reading the file I ripped using DVDfab? Just the eac3to portion of the log?
Thanks again for all the help.

Maybe the disc is broken (even if you see no scratches) or the copy protection isn't fully supported.
Can you try another disc?

Yes I have enough space. I tried another disk, District 9. It looks like it's failing in the same place. This is the log from blurip. Should I post the log from the command prompt too?

Yes, this might be helpfull.
Don't know why this fails with two different discs.

Ok, I reinstalled Haali, that helped. Then I realized I didn't have avisynth installed. Got that installed now I'm getting:
Exception: LoadPlugin: unable to load "C:\Users\Jason\Desktop\Ripping\Tools\ffms2-mt-r376-x64\ffms2.dll"
The file is in that location. Don't know why it couldn't be loaded. I just extracted it. Do I need to do some sort of install (register the dll)?
_hawk_

No, you don't need any special installation.
But for a 32-bit avisynth you will need a 32-bit ffmpegsrc.

No, you need to use the 32bit version ...
Just because your OS is x64, does not mean every program that runs on it is a x64 version ...
Blurip is 32bit and written in a manner that can call x264 64 bit (but that is it, it can't magically force the 32 bit version of Avisynth to use 64 bit filters, etc) ...

I gave a shot to this app. After installing the necessary programs, I tried ripping a BD losslessly to a MKV.
So far so good, but I get NO subtitle streams at all. They do not show up in the stream selection. I tried searching this thread but found nothing obvious.. So is it a known problem?
2nd problem is that audio was very very choppy. Approximately 0.5 seconds of sound, 5 seconds of silence.
Using latest MPC-HC for playback..
Ed: Ok, looks like makemkv can't find the subs either. So there's something funky about the disk (Splice, scandinavian release). TMT3 shows the subtitles no problem, thought.

I was on v3.10, let's try again with 4.4
I'm trying to make mkv with core DTS audio, not HD audio.. Ie ticks on "untouched audio" and "use dts core".

I've done quite a few remuxes (~20). Both with DTS core and HD Audio. Though I've only tried with software players but I've never had any problems (I test all remuxes). I've used mkvmerge 4.4.
Subtitles have always showed up properly.
Barleyman
27th December 2010, 19:42
Upgrading to mkvtoolnix 4.4 didn't change anything. Audio is still mostly kaput, you get maybe 0,5 seconds of audio every 10 seconds or so.
I'm using ac3filter for audio. Would a slice of the media file help? Logfiles get wiped out at program exit?
Btw should I exclude ffdshow from the process? Is there some specific way media filters should be arranged for W7 x32?
_hawk_
28th December 2010, 11:07
Maybe some of your filters are broken. Can you test on a system without any codec packs or something?
Will make some tests with vlc when I find time.

I don't use codec packs.
I have basically Haali, AC3filter & ffdshow. There are also the W7 internal codecs which kick in if I disable ac3filter + ffdshow.
ffdshow is set up to run only with whitelisted apps, I quess I could go over the list of external apps and make sure they're included. (Or excluded!)
In any case since we're doing straight remux-to-MKV, filters shouldn't change that much.
I'll take a look at the demuxed files too..

eac3to command line is wrong during demuxing:
[12/30/2010 2:09:05 PM] Command: D:\Program Files\eac3to\eac3to.exe "J:\" 1) 1: "D:\Temp\_001_chapter.txt" 2: "D:\Temp\_002_video.mkv" 3: "D:\Temp\_003_audio_dtsHD_51_English.dtshd"
What is "1)" doing there? Shouldn't it be "-core"?
Combined with the mkvmerge command
[12/30/2010 2:40:05 PM] Command: C:\Program Files\MKVtoolnix\mkvmerge.exe --title "Splice" -o "E:\Movies\Splice\Splice.mkv" --chapter-language en --chapters "D:\Temp\_001_chapter.txt" --compression -1:none "D:\Temp\_002_video.mkv" --language 0:en --compression -1:none --default-track 0:yes "D:\Temp\_003_audio_dtsHD_51_English.dtshd"
We get HD-audio stream which my codecs apparently have trouble with. In any case, I don't want any PCM audio to start with..

"J:" is the drive and "1)" the playlist to work with.
If there would be a -core option, you wont have the hd track but a normal DTS track. If this is what you want, don't use "untouched audio" option.

If I un-tick "use untouched audio", dts track will get re-encoded? I just want the DTS track remuxed as-is.

Care to elaborate on that a bit? All my right-eye streams are of the UNKNOWN type, and that somehow does not seem right. That is of course assuming that a useable 3D remux is the intention.

Only the left eye stream is used to create a "normal" mkv. This didn't work before.
I didn't test 3d mkvs yet. Maybe I'll add support for this in next version.

I "reinstalled" the 0.52 and now it works OK. Looks like something went wrong when I unzipped it last time. Kind of interesting it'd fail that way, thought. I had working SVN 139 in the same directory so eac3to getting called with no arguments was a bit unexpected.
