It's a bug in AnyDVD HD as far as i know that corrupts some AC3 audio files. Use this tool (http://www.videohelp.com/tools?toolsearch=besplit&Submit=Search&s=&orderby=Name&hits=50&convert=&dvdauthorfeatures=) to check audio for bad streams. I recommed you to use IsoBuster to backup your discs.

Thanks for Your tip. I will download IsoBuster and try.
I replace subtitle in fifth element and tomorrow will try in defiance. So, earlier You say that You can edit blu-ray menu. Can You post some guide, because I want to try this also. It is much better with edited menu.
Sorry for my English.
Thanks in advance

The same principle as on series discs applies. The same steps for every m2ts file.

OK But those need a subtitle file for every episode. for a seamless branching movie i will need to cut the subtitle file to match every m2ts file?? or there is another method?
Thanks.

Yes, you will have to cut the subtitle to match the m2ts files.

That is an original disc. It is sold in China.

But if you want to modify a menu, you should look in the JAR folder and edit the png files. Some of them are having png files, some a *.txt file, some of them are having all the files inside a *.jar file. You can open a *.jar file with winrar and add the modified picture with winrar too. Some of them are having *.xml files to modify. Bottom line is that only java menus can be edited. IGS ones can't be edited and there is a certain type of java that can'd be edited either, the ones that some java scripts are calling strips of fonts instead of whole words.

hi ,
I have a few Blu-Rays that i want to add subtitles to , however the problem is that they dont have any subtitles on them so i cant replace them :(
Is there a way to add Subtitles to a Blu-Ray that doesnt have subtitles on them ?

crl2007
6th February 2010, 20:45
Yes, the same. You add your *.srt file or *.sup file and mux them.

Great thanks, got it to work.
I encountered a problem though.
The Blu-Rays im trying to sub are episodes , but they only have 1 big playlist , one has both episodes as 1 m2ts , i guess there wont be any problems if i sync the merged subs to that m2ts , however the other has the episodes as seperate m2ts (and only 1 big playlist).I tried using the mpls which worked but tsmuxer merged both m2ts as 1 m2ts and the subs were desynched from episode 2 onwards.Since there arent any single mpls for the episodes im not sure how to mux em. :(

@Borgqy I've explained in the guide how to re-author series discs too. Discs that contain episodes.

@doffot Those are having IGS menu and for the time being they can't be edited.

Borgqy
7th February 2010, 11:03
yeah i read that , but there are no mpls for the individual episodes , theres only 1 big mpls with both episodes and the mpls for the extras.

crl2007
7th February 2010, 11:11
It doesn't matter, you remux the m2ts files with tsremux, you replace them + clpi files and edit the big playlist with hex edit and bdedit.

crl2007 thx

crl2007
7th February 2010, 14:28
Forgot to tell you, you take the values to put in bdedit for your big playlist file from the playlists resulted from tsmuxer.

Borgqy
7th February 2010, 19:03
I tried it now and the disc works.
But the Subtitles are greyed out. I added subtitles to a disc that didnt have any to replace. How can i add the subtitles in bdedit for the mpls?

crl2007
7th February 2010, 19:08
What do you mean they are greyed out ? They should have worked fine, the streams are controlled mainly by the clpi file ( there are no menu subtitle links for some script to use the mpls ). Have you replaced the clpi files with the ones created by tsmuxer for every m2ts that you edited?

Borgqy
7th February 2010, 19:13
oh sorry , i meant its greyed out in TMT as if there wouldnt be any subtitles on it. (mpls doesnt show a subtitle stream as well in bdedit since its the original mpls)

ok thanx will give it a try

crl2007
7th February 2010, 19:23
If you replaced the clpi files from the original folder with the ones created by tsmuxer it is impossible not to work. The clpi files have the same name as the m2ts files.

The other guide will not help you very much because you don't have individual playlists.

Borgqy
7th February 2010, 19:46
I did , and in bdedit the clpi shows the pgs stream. On the mpls tab in "STN Table" it shows 0 PG streams though.

edit:
Using the other guide with editing the big mpls it worked. It did output the 2 m2ts as 1 m2ts , however everything seems functional , even the popup menu. Sync etc seems fine as well.

crl2007
7th February 2010, 20:03
Yes, but it shouldn't have been greyed out.

And all the chapters and episodes links are functional ? It is important that those too to be functional. If so, this could be a workaround for this kind of discs.

I have never encountered such a disc.

Borgqy
7th February 2010, 20:36
Yeah all chapters and episode links seem to work.
Thanks for your help and thanks for the great guide :)

Great, good to know. This guides rely on persons like you who share their results with various discs formats.

i tried this on resident evil degeneration but the video streams get remuxed in the wrong order so instead of playing the main movie it plays a secondary stream :( opening the main movie mpls in tsmuxer reveals the main movie as track 4 but after remux its track 1 :( the gui must be messing this up as it also changes the 1080 subs to 720 to match the secondary video :(

crl2007
10th February 2010, 00:05
I covered this in the guide. You just simply put the 1080 track first in tsmuxer.

wont that result in the extras link pointing to the wrong stream though? ill report back.

it must be possible to leave it as it is though as bdrebuilder remuxes it into the same place as the original. TSmMuxer commandline input must be more versitile than the GUI

crl2007
10th February 2010, 20:41
No, it won't affect anything. tsMuxer is the one that reads some mpls files wrong, and thus for the 2 video streams are reversed in the GUI.

Hello crl2007,

First of all thanks for posting such great tutorial! I have succeeded adding subs and changing some bluray movie menu. But now I'm having trouble with a series bluray.

So I'm trying to add a subtitle to the TV show "The Universe" - It has 3 disks, 5 episodes in each.

Here is the mpls folder of each bluray: http://i40.tinypic.com/4j2b1c.png All 3 folders look like that one. Where 0000, 0001, 0002, 0003 and 0004 mpls files correspond to episode 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. So I add the first mpls file into TSMuxer and this is what I see: http://i42.tinypic.com/i5su9z.png

So I add a subtitle (The original bluray has no subs, this new ones should still work right?), configure those tabs there and create the new files, placing em in the original directories (clipinf and stream respectively) - I do this for all the episodes in the first disk, so 5 episodes.

Then I change the INtime of every mpls file (7 files) and place em in the original directory (playlist, replacing the others). With this done until now I try to play the bluray disk, all works except the subs that are not showing up - are they supposed to show up even though I didn't do the hex edit? If yes, they didn't.

Now the hex thingy I failed to do it cause I have no "biggest mpls file" all my mpls files have the same size, so what am I supposed to do? Edit all the 5 mpls's that contain the 5 episodes?

Thanks and nice work!

You can try to re-author your disc with multiAVCHD. It will do all the hex-thingies for you. :)

Yes, here's (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=151925) the guide for multiAVCHD. It will save you the trouble for hex editing. You'll find there a section for series discs too.

Is it possible to extract subtitles from dvd and add it to bluray

You can use mencoder included in tools folder of multiAVCHD with:

mencoder dvd://1 -dvd-device "D:\VIDEO_TS\" -vobsubout "subtitles" -sid 0 -nosound -o "tempfile.tmp" -ovc frameno

You'll need to change the dvd://N to the title you need to extract subtitles from and -sid N with the subtitle stream you need (0-for the 1st one, 1 for the 2nd, etc...).

Once you get the extracted idx+sub pair you can load the idx in BDsup2sub and create Blu-ray SUP file.

multiAVCHD does that when converting DVD to Blu-ray.

Updated the guide. Now there is no need for hex editing.

In your tutorial you say that you replace an existing subtitle track.

So is it possible to add a subtitle track to a blu-ray that has no subtitles ?

crl2007
4th June 2010, 15:30
Yes, it is. But you'll have to modify the mpls with bdedit too.

Everything worked here :)

Except.. my native language is Portuguese and some letters like Ã, ç, õ does not show up, it shows like other symbols (some very strange ones).

Is there any solution for this ?

crl2007
5th June 2010, 07:37
You have to choose the right character encoding. For romanian special characters is Central European. Maybe for portuguese it is the same.

veggav
5th June 2010, 12:14
Where do I choose that ?

I've tried in tsmuxer, in the subtitles section -> font -> writing system: is selected "any". I've tried "latin" but it does not work, it goes back to "any".

So where do I choose the character encoding ?

crl2007
5th June 2010, 12:18
From the font settings window.

veggav
5th June 2010, 12:38
This font window:

http://www.imagebam.com/image/9bac3759983614

?

If this is the one you are talking about there is no option to Central European, and any other option does not work :(

Is the font window you are talking about on bdedit ?

crl2007

Then you'll have to set it from control panel - regional and settings.

Edit the IN time as in the picture below for all of them ( individual episodes playlists and the big mpls containing all episodes )

This tool (http://clownbd.com/Clown_BD%20MPLS%20Builder.exe) will take care of this step for you automatically.

See here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=154574) or here (http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=40349&page=8) for more details.

OCR softwares does not support my desired language so i cant convert sub/idx to srt.
Is there any way to import sub/idx subtitles instead of srt in tsmuxer in order to add subtitles to bluray?

crl2007
28th June 2010, 11:26
You can use easySUP to convert your subtitles to *.sup. Or you can use my other guide with multiAVCHD.

Hello

I don't think anyone posted here with a kind of problem I'm facing ... I'm using this great guide for months and never had any problems until I ran on two Universal titles (Flash Gordon & A Serious Man). Whatever combination I try with a .clpi and playlist files from the original and remuxed version (TSMuxer) with added subtitles, I can't play extras from the pop-up menu which is opened during the playback of the movie. The extras work only if I play them from the top menu and if I was not playing the movie before that. If I play the movie first, the extras won't work even if I stop the movie and try to play them from the top menu. To make them play again I have to restart Total Media Theater 3 on my PC or eject the DVD-R and put it back into my standalone. Also, I have noticed that both Total Media Theater and my standalone have a slightly longer pause then usual before playing extras.

Maybe is worthy mentioning that everything is fine when I use the original playlist fixed with ''fixmpls'' and .clpi from the remuxed version, but as soon as I run the playlist through the BDEdit (to update it with the info on added subtitle) the problem is there again.
