You can disable the preview in SETTINGS tab. I guess you're not using a network copy of your BD or reading it directly from the bd-rom drive... Such problem as yours is usually related to a really slow computer or a bad chain of filters/splitter for the video graph via directshow.

ripped to hd with anydvd. using 2.4 core2 quad. the segments play fine in multiavchd but take a long time for the next clip appear, pc becomes very unstable at this time.

Tested my first title, both with blank and Trim End: 1, but neither method would remove/eliminate the playback of the warning and another advert. Tried several times, and though the interface is straight forward, I could not seem to achieve success.
With blanking and Trim End 1, the .m2ts file size was reduced, but the original picture/warning is still present in the .m2ts, not a black/blank picture .m2ts. Thus, when playing back the movie, the warning and advert was still visible, though for what appeared to be a shorter period of time than the original.
I will try another movie and see if I can have better results.

This is intentional and the original m2ts is not replaced with black-video, but such blanked playlists are cut to 0.062 (0.033 in latest exe) seconds and this is really short. For how long these warnings/adverts played?

I'm more interested if the re-mux part works and if the disc plays after the changes. I'll change the blanking method once I'm sure other things work.

Make sure to download the exe (http://92.247.11.202/sub/multiAVCHD_724RC.rar)before each test.

In the latest (http://92.247.11.202/sub/multiAVCHD_724RC.rar)update you have 2 more features added:

* Reorder PGS streams (subtitle) - use it when you replace internal subtitles with external to keep menu functionality

For example if you have playlist with 4 subtitle tracks:

1 ENG
2 FRA
3 DEU
4 BUL

and you want to replace FRA subtitles with external, add external .srt/.sup file and go to "PGS order" tab, then move the external file UP in 2nd place to have 3 DEU and 4 BUL...

* Blank internal audio tracks - it will save a lot of space and will keep menu functioning. At the moment audio is replaced with short 'welcome' sound (~5 seconds AC3).

Ok, so I've completed a number of tests using version 724 (both the older and newer versions all along).

Source = BDRebuilder output at 23G - Movie - Harry Potter 6.

The good news, all versions of multiAVCHD work fine when using BluRay output and then burning to a BD-RE. Playback works fine trailers and warning are all skipped as they should be and the main menu comes up. I've looked at the structure with BDEdit and the time_in and time_out values are applied.

The bad news (at least for me) is that every version when processing an AVCHD folder for PS3 comes up with "This video cannot be played" once it reaches title 05. I have tried, blanking, remuxing and even a straight through without any blanking or remuxing. Each try aborts on title 05. It is one of the warning titles, not the trailer as I suspected.

There is nothing special about this title, it looks exactly the same as the other warnings. 23.022 time, 1920x1080p and 23.976fps.

Without remuxing and it fails?

In PS3 mode m2ts files from 4GB+ playlists are numbered differently (not as in the original)... I tried 2 titles and they both play in my PS3 without any error. "Video cannot be played" - broken file... Can you play it in your computer?

Since PS3 functionality is important for me - I'll try to investigate more. Please try another disc and let me know. I just don't have much to test with. I don't have blu-ray burner and the only way to watch blu-rays is by using multiAVCHD re-author to transfer them to USB HDD.

Also - can you try to import this BDMV folder and process it in normal mode (answer with NO at the prompt for re-authoring mode).

cwh060
8th January 2010, 14:29
Sure, I will try and process it normally. Takes a bit to process and then transfer to my 32G USB.

Unfortuneately, I don't have any playback software on my computer. I simply use Media Player Classic x64 if I need to watch anything and select the MTS/M2TS file.

After my last post I went back and tried a couple more things. The current AVCHD folder on my USB stick has the unedited output. I replaced the MTS file with a 1sec blank video file (same characteristics) and then HEX edited the MPL adding AFC8 to 019BFCC0. The result was the same, so I'm thinking this has something to do with a BDJ object than an HDMV?

When playing the BluRay disc, the screen comes up with a picture of a disc playing before it hits the main menu. This is probably where it's failing. The 05 title might be after this. I'm not great with BDEdit reading the command structure, but this BDJ object appears to be called after some of the inital playback titles (warnings, trailer etc.)

In PS3 mode you'll get output suitable for USB HDD - it means that multiAVCHD will remux all playlists which contain playitems (m2ts) files larger than 4GB.

...

Introducing such feature to multiAVCHD aims mainly to make Blu-ray discs playable in Playstation3 using USB HDD (Blu-ray disc to USB HDD) without loosing any features (except the pop-up menu, which is not supported while playing from USB).

If the disc is BD-J authored, Playstation 3 will not play the USB output. If you use Blu-ray mode and burn to BD-R/RE it will work.

******

Java (BD-J) is not supported in AVCHD playback mode in Playstation3 (be it DVD or USB).

I guess I'll add a warning and/or will disable PLAYSTATION 3 button if multiAVCHD detects that the disc has BD-J titles.

The .exe link is always the same - just redownload, extract and replace multiAVCHD_724RC.exe (http://92.247.11.202/sub/multiAVCHD_724RC.rar).

The prompt for PS3 will appear only if the disc contains BD-J titles and we're talking only for the Re-author mode, not the normal authoring mode.

I did not burn to BD-RE, but only tried playing back with PowerDVD and TMT3, and it all worked well. It was fast too! Original disc was 19.5GB. Reauthored was 17.6GB. Time to finish was less than 10 minutes. :)
I'll try a few more titles.
If the goal is for BD-R/RE burn/playback on my Sony S360 standalone, do I need to be concerned with Java (BD-J) type movies?

EDIT:
Sorry, just tried the latest build, message warning came up regarding PS3, clicked NO, and it is running now.

Ok, I had Loaded the project rather than using the AVCHD/BDMV/DVD button, so it did not go through the scan again.

This time I used the AVCHD/BDMV/DVD button and the warning came up and indeed it will not let me blank anything. I answered YES to everything and it's now letting me Create a Playstation AVCHD output, but it did not resize down to 4mb? I hit stop, but it's still pushing through copying the m2ts files...might be a while.

@Capsbackup: No, BD-J is a concern only for people like me :) who want to backup to USB HDD for PS3.

Redownload and try the same compilation (or another). Blanking is changed and playitems are shortened more than in the previous version.

@cwh060: I'm not sure what your question is... If it is related to the normal authoring mode - please use multiAVCHD's thread. Your compilation will work in PS3 and files will be split properly at the size set in AUTHOR tab.

Ok, I was just testing the import of a movie with BD-J titles, which worked fine, the warnings came up.

I then went through the process of letting multiAVCHD process a Playstation 3 AVCHD folder. The author size is set at 4000, but the output m2ts eventually came out at 22G, the spitting to 4G did not take place.

The log clearly shows output at [10:22:46] Selected output mode: Playstation 3 (USB/SDHC/MS) but the split isn't applied. Maybe I have another setting wrong somewhere.

Tried same title again, with new version, and everything works/plays back fine on TMT3. The warning is displayed, for approx 1 sec or less.
Perhaps playback would be different on a standalone? I could try it if you think there is a benefit.

You need to reload the folder and not use the saved project. Upon loading large playlists will be marked for full-processing with split applied. The log you posted doesn't show such thing. You can't use re-author project for normal authoring.

In normal mode titles are marked with [f] [p] [m]... in reauthor [s] [r].

One second is too much... All my tests (both in TMT and PS3) skip through blanked playlists really fast.

If you have BD-RE you can try and see what will happen. It is not possible to have 1 second video in these 240kb blanked m2ts files. Even mediaplayer won't play a second of them.

It may not be a full second, I have no way to time it, but it is definately visible on the screen for this short burst. Not really a big deal, I have been living with them on my backups now anyway, but I guess I was expecting to see nothing that is blanked. I will burn to BD-RE later, see if there is a difference on the standalone.

I'll do something else and will try to blank these with real blank m2ts file... It is that I'm worried that the more files are changed - the greater the chance something will break - that's why I wanted to keep the original mpls/clpi/m2ts files from the blanked features, but simply cutting the video to 1 frame + adjusting mpls and clpi files. There is a blank m2ts inside multiAVCHD's package and I'll enable it.

Let me do some testing and will get back to you.

Even with that, I think the re-authoring mode works okay and I can publish it as an official 725 build.

***

Blank m2ts will not work for complex discs, so I will not enable this method.

@Capsbackup: Give it another try after you redownload (http://92.247.11.202/sub/multiAVCHD_724RC.rar)it and let me know if there is any difference. Original m2ts files are cut to ~40ms and I doubt that you would see much of the blanked stuff. At least here it is okay.

Update your regular multiAVCHD application to build 725 - RE-AUTHOR mode is now available in the official build.

Thanks to crl2007 for the guide posted here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=151925) and for the suggestions and tests during the last week. Please post your comments and problems in the guide thread, but limit only to re-author capabilities of multiAVCHD, not standard ones.

I did not try that version, but the previous one did shorten the warnings displayed to a quick flash with TMT3. The backup worked properly while playing back on the computer, but the burned BD-RE, while playing back on the Sony S360 standalone, would not. Well, it played thru the menu and let me select the movie, and then played the movie fine, but would not return to the main menu after completion of the movie. It just appeared to not continue, but did not stop either. It sort of "hung" in that position
I did not think I blanked anything menu related, but I may have.:o I will try that one again with the newest version.

@deank;
I tried this same title again, this time with 726, and made certain to only blank the 3 visible warning .m2ts files. Play back was on TMT3, and there was still a noticeable warning on the screen, but it only displayed approx. 1/3 of the screen within TMT3, and only for a fairly quick moment, perhaps 1/2 second.
I tried it on another title, but I am finding it rather difficult to find all the warnings to try and blank. Apparently, some are not displayed in your preview screen, or at least some titles do not show a preview at all in the preview screen. It can be quite tedious trying to open each small .m2ts file with MPC, and then try to find the associated .mpls.
Honestly, the warnings are not that big of a deal to me, just a bit annoying. It would appear, with my limited experience, to be necessary to have a simpilar procedure to identify for certain which titles are safe to blank, and which titles are the warnings ( visible in the preview ), so as to not corrupt the original structure. ( by me :p )

crl2007

If a title has java, it is safe to blank all features under one minute, even if they don't have a preview. Extras will all have previews, so it is not a risk. And if those features you try to blank are important for other playlists, multiAVCHD will warn you.

That is good to know, but when I tried that, the BD-RE, when played back on a standalone, would not return to the main menu. TMT3 would play it back fine though. But since I dont watch movies on the computer, this is a problem.
I plan to experiment with a few other movies that I have. The problem for me is that play back from TMT3 or PowerDVD is not my ultimate goal. I burn to BDR/RE, and my burner is only 2x speed, so testing can take quite some time( approx. 45min for 25GB). And just because TMT3 or PowerDVD seems to work does not mean the same success on my standalone.;)

Capsbackup
14th January 2010, 03:08
Tried a completely different title, and I went thru each .m2ts/.mpls to make sure I found every warning on this disc. Blanked 7 warnings and 1 short Deluxe Digital Studios advert, and tried playing back on both TMT3 via BD folders and PowerDVD 7.3 via .ISO. Both played back with no problems, everything working perfectly. However, the warnings are still displayed on just a portion of the screen, and are visible and present for several seconds.
This is the third different movie with these results.
My thoughts are that the program/feature does seem to work and not break the disc playback, but that replacing the warning .m2ts files with a black blank one may be the only way to remove the warnings from being visible on playback.

EDIT:
Burned to BD-RE and the disc would not even start playing on my Sony S360. Only after waiting several minutes and pressing Top Menu on my remote could I get the disc to display the main menu.
After selecting play movie, the warning was displayed, though very garbeled and hardly legible, but visible for approx. 7 seconds. ( this is comparable to the original time wise. ) The movie did seem to play thru fine, and when finished, it did return to the main menu.
Again, though TMT3 and PowerDVD seem to work properly, playback on the standalone was corrupted.

Try using the guide on the first page and then multiAVCHD. And put here the original, edited through this guide and edited through multiAVCHD mpls files. But be sure to blank only one feature ( the same feature ) on both discs.

This (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1358535#post1358535) is the way for manual blanking.

Maybe this way deank can see what goes wrong. Although the same blanking method is in multiAVCHD too.

I tested two of the previous titles that were not working on my standalone, but did work fine with TMT3 and PowerDVD, with your latest release 726+ and I am pleased to report both work perfectly. Play back with TMT3 and PowerDVD was fine, and more important, ( at least to me  ) the BD-RE playback on my Sony S360 for both was flawless! :)
No more warnings, no player hangs, beautiful.
Congrats on this accomplishment. An excellent addition to an already very good program.
I have also been testing your program with some of my TV recordings, and just recently backed up the three Lord of the Rings, HD broadcasts 1080i pulled from my Comcast HD DVR box via firewire. I did use MeGui to reencode to BD9, due to my being familiar with it, but used MultiAVCHD to compile a custom XMB menu and burned to BD media. Again, I was very pleased with the outcome.( It's just too bad TNT has to advertise and flash logos all over the screen :( )
I like the XMB style menu, and have learned how to change the location of the thumbnails, but it would be nice to be able to have them placed horizontally along the bottom or the top of the screen, to avoid overlapping with a custom menu picture.
Again great work, and it's a pleasure to test and learn some of the many features of your program. :thanks:

Good news indeed :) Thank you for testing it!

About XMB - it is possible to add such option - I'll look into it. You can use Slide or Carousel menu styles. They have chapters at the bottom.

(I added the option.. check multiAVCHD thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1363998#post1363998))

After prolonged tests and many and annoying failures, I finally devised a method for re-authoring series disc keeping the original menu. Check the first post. You can also replace audio streams, etc, all the things you want. If you want to blank trailers, warnings, insert the edited disc in multiAVCHD and check this tutorial (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=151925).

l.e. I've added a small hex edit tutorial at the end of the guide, so everyone can modify their mpls files. It is not something advanced, it's something I picked up after a day of googling and trying my ass off to understand the mechanism.

Hi,
Tried to change subs according to guide but...
tsmuxer does not make m2ts main file like oryginal (00003.m2ts fro example) but always 00000.m2ts so it's not possible to simply replace oryginal one! The same thing is with mpls file: always 00000.mpls and not 00003.mpls as in example on the first site.
Please advice.

It's a bug in AnyDVD HD as far as i know that corrupts some AC3 audio files. Use this tool (http://www.videohelp.com/tools?toolsearch=besplit&Submit=Search&s=&orderby=Name&hits=50&convert=&dvdauthorfeatures=) to check audio for bad streams. I recommed you to use IsoBuster to backup your discs.
