Using the 2 pass ps3/xbox360 profile in an mp4 container, I get a completely unplayable output file.

I've done it and the file is playable with MPC but it do not see the subs. But VLC does so... I'll keep VLC :p (but I do not understand why MPC do not see the subs)

Anyway It works and I'll try to test it on a Xbox as soon as I'll find one :)

h.264 file and mp4 audio file in temp directory play fine, and when I mux them with older version of mp4box(0.4.5-DEV - Sep 14 2007), output file plays back no problem.


this error happen on all x264 profiles ? or only for xbox360/ps3 ?

AutoMKV can have a direct usage, like put your input and click start, or can be used for a full contron over encoding.

I can only suggest to try and retry, and ask when you don't understand a fuction

qmf,hgavs and qmtrim are avs optimizer, like old ARCalculator, those routines will analyze all move and will output an optimized (on scene basis) avs script

I don't use avi.net, so i cannot compare with automkv, but i suppose that, as usually, is only a matter of codec configuration and some thin line in avs script

btw seems you miss the m4a (mp4 audio) decoder
i can suggest to reinstall with default option latest ffdshow tryout

Hey!
How the AlphaDeblock and BetaDeblock (or any other adcanced profiles editing -filter) can be added to the command line, is it just:

*-alphadeblock>1<* and *-betadeblock>1<* without the asterisks on the the "add to line" space for deblocking strenght=1 and threshold=1?

It's a little confusing since wiki says: "to configure: --deblock <integer:integer>":)

OMFG how armless(whatevah) I was, is that the profile which is followed by the encoder, so for example if I change MaxQuantizer down to 40 the x264's will be encoded using quantizers from 10(default) to 40?
At least it doesn't update the command line's --qpmax -value when the "use this profile" is checked as it does for instance when AQ is enabled from the upper right corner

And does switching between those main profiles (2_pass_balanced, 2_pass_better_quality...) change this advanced profiles editing -list, or are more advanced profiles just for x264.exe to improve encoding quality at the cost of time ?

yes, and even a LOT!

for Normal/good encoding the balanced profile is enough, only for fine tuning (or having less bitrate) can be useful using more slow profiles

I have (again) a problem with the suspend mode. After the countdown a cli-window appears and is gone too fast to see any commands or error messages (beta9, beta11). This is so confusing, because I tried it a few days ago with your rebuild of beta8 and this worked :confused:. Unfortunately I deleted that build so I cannot do further tests. This fault is the same on two different machines with xp pro. For testing: What command will be started at the end of the countdown?

this is strange. I typed in "rundll32.exe %windir%\system32\PowrProf.dll,SetSuspendState" and the machine goes to standby. The command seems to be working, maybe it could be a problem with the path of windows directory?
Perhaps the short type "rundll32 powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState" will work a bit more reliable?

I try to encode 1 dvd movie in x264,divx,xvid when i use queue(batch enc) and in the morning only first movie is ready and palyable. The other didint exist, in temp folder no mp3 file and avi.I use diferent folder for every codec.
The problem with queue i have with this version and the older 0.95

BUG: Turning off audio-normalizing only works for the first entry in a queue list. Even if one manually re-checks and un-checks the box before hitting Add to Queue.

I try again queue with vob file Madona-Jumb in x264,divx,xvid.
I use diferent folder.
1-st x264 -done perfect with queue0,
2- divx - only audio extract and test for deint done, and 1pass, 2pass broke-> no avi file, no muxing
3-xvid - done 1 and 2 pass, when muxing no audio

minor annoyance: The new estimated time scheme still doesn't account for 30>24fps NTSC DVD film decimation when factoring remaining time (in such cases, correct remaining time would be 80% of whatever it's reporting now).

Hello,

first of all let me thank you for this helpful program.
With DVDs it work very good for me, but i just tried a DVB-S Mpeg file and it didn't work in the audio part.

The input is a Mpeg2 file which i want to convert to x264/AAC in the mkv container. Everything works fine except for the audio. The conversion with Nero AAC works and results in a valid audio.mp4 file. But the file doesn't get renamed, which leads to a filesize error (-1 bytes) and a fallback to FFmpeg. I encountered this behaviour with 0.95c as well as 0.96b12.

Should enabling deblock(and different modes) make a difference in resulting file sizes compared to one without deblock when unlimited filesize is used?

And if it should show on command line that deblock is enabled, what exactly would the line be there?

Toss-up: Is there a way to make a filter do two or more passes per frame? (I'd like to run the LEM filter twice over some films which are so grainy that there are literally more swimming dots than actual movie. Or two or more different filters.)

(Audience: Is there a better filter for extreme grain than LEM, particularly in combinations? I haven't tried everything on that huge list yet!)

Hello, thanks for the welcome and the advice.

Actually at the moment i'm quite confused.
I had only focused on the audio error with 0.96 b12 since with 0.95d (it was 0.95d, not 0.95c as i said in the first post) the video encoding had always been correct and only the audio had this fallback to FFmpeg ("audio.aac") since the mp4 file produced by Nero had not been renamed (the reason why i tried the 0.96 b12).
Now i tried the 0.95d again. The audio.mp4 produced by Nero AAC was properly renamed to "tc0 l2 2ch 48 192 delay 0ms.mp4" and later muxed, at least with the small input file.

Still with 0.96b12 both the audio and video don't work properly, as documented in the previous log. In the temp folder there is usually an "audio.mp4" file produced from the "audio.aac" file from FAAC (Nero AAC doesn't show up at all). The video part is either done by x264 or a fallback to ffmpeg happens, at least now i didn't have a total output of -1 bytes.

Avisynth 2.56 and Xvid are installed.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I seem to get this error for all versions of automkv 0.93 and up. I do not get this error when I use version 0.91, which is first version I downloaded.

Input video is fraps footage.

I have attempted to choose Lame and AAC. Same error every time.

Also, it should be noted that when I use version 0.91 to encode an mkv h264 video, it plays fine in all video players. However, version 0.95b produces an MKV file that I cannot play. I get an error when I attempt to play it in MPC HomeCinema. BUG: If the input file is AVC/x264 in MKV, AutoMKV will attempt to encode and incorporate audio even if NONE is selected.

Suggestion (pursuant to above): If audio fails to encode, make the default choice in the warning box which appears afterward (the one with a yes/no choice to proceed without audio, or to close AutoMKV if no is selected) default to yes rather than no.

BUG: PLay-back gibberish when encoding 768x432 from a 1280x720 source.

(System: XPproSP2; x264 BLUrip source, xvid output; error manifests whether or not the original rip is used, or a 16000kbps mpeg2 1280x720 copy created by mediacoder is used as a source.)

Manifestation: When playing 768x432 in either VLC or MPC, there will be a vertical column of garbage about 3/4ths inch wide along the right edge. This only appears with 768x432; not with, say, 768x416 or similar very close MOD16 setting; and only when the source was 1280x720.

Why 768x432 is highly desirable: It's a MOD16 and 16x9, and so scales down from 1280x720 with the same level of compression (60%) along both vertical and horizontal axis, and is 96% of the bit-rate of NTSC-standard 720x480 DVD -- which makes it ideal for non-anamorphic sources which you wish to encode at the best quality possible without exceeding the capacity of any viewing device for which DVD playback is the upper end of its abilities.
