Right now, all my grainy old-movie projects, and some animation projects, are on hold due to lack of adequate correctional filters. Compression efficiency (x264 vs. XviD, etc) is the LEAST of my needs right now.

I need industrial-strength degraining *without* introducing rubbishy artifacts in dark-lit color gradient areas, in a GUI format which doesn't require an advanced course in script-writing. See my really small test clip (http://tinyurl.com/5646r2); a good combination of filters should remove ALL of the grain in the second scene WITHOUT introducing shimmery garbage over the guy's left shoulder in the first scene. (Right now, MVdegrain1 + MVdegrain2 + EnableHGVAS(Aggressive_Slow) + FFTD3 is the only combo that eliminates ALL the grain, but it takes a hideously long time and introduces garbage -- even with an XviD CQ2 setting.)

MVdegrain3 and gradfun2db support would be a great first step.

(I have a lot more ideas here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=139185) (page-down), but let's get the filters squared away first. If you do jump into that list, the first item I'd like is the ability to organize multiple filters in sequence, and govern at what stage they're implemented.)

1) filters can be chained, and afaik the most importants are already present. ALSO filters can be dinamically added by simply putting dlls in \exe\filters and write in filters list

2) automkv support drag&drop and can encode audio file to audio file

3) automkv support templates, customizing and save

about pause and queue , sorry, automkv was bor as single encoding program, the queue part is a rape to the code

moreover, today i added psy-rdo and MVDegrain3

i will like to hear some more request/bug fix or i will publish beta13 as is now

1) filters can be chained,By click-select GUI? No. You need experience in script-writing to string them all together in such a way they don't barf -- relegating the user to spending enormous amounts of time duplicating learning-curves when the point of a GUI is to eliminate duplication of effort. (Ideally I'd shift-click on several filters in sequence, and a script would be auto-generated, and be editable on an advanced page.) and afaik the most importants are already present.Buzz, the "most important" filters are not present if the ones included cannot properly degrain that clip I provided (http://tinyurl.com/5646r2) without introducing garbage in dark color-gradients, even with a file-size unlimited CQ setting. MVdegrain3 is not present, nor is gradfun2db or MC_Spuds. (IMO, these should be present, and some workable combination default-selected for "Insane" projects.)ALSO filters can be dinamically added by simply putting dlls in \exe\filters and write in filters listThis isn't "simple" for most people. It isn't even "simple" for smart people who have dozens of different interests but limited time.

glad to see you back, i hope the little one isn't stealing all your sleep :).

I've found more an annoyance than a bug, where you can get MVDenoise and MVDegrain2 both checked on at the same time without being able to unselect either one.

how to reproduce.

Open up Automkv goto Advanced tab, check MVdenoise and click save settings and close Automkv. reopen Automkv goto advanced tab, you now see that mvdegrain2 is now selectable, check mvdegrain2. now you'll see that both mvdenoise and mvdegrain2 are now both selected and ghosted so you can't unselect them.

Maybe mvdenoise, mvdegrain1 and mvdegrain2 check boxes could be changed to a drop down box, with the valid combinations?

also i am not building a software for specifing file, neither for add specific filters. AutoGK (the paragon stone for automkv) was build around only removegrain
anyway it's probably that i will add Udegrain in next days

But AutoGK was really only good with stuff that didn't need much if any degraining anyway.anyway it's probably that i will add Udegrain in next daysHmm...not familiar with that one. (I can get thorough degraining now, albeit slowly, but the major problem is artifacts either introduced or revealed in dark color-gradient areas.)

When using a m2ts file with MPEG-2 / AC3 as a source, automkv try to use a dga file that just don't exist

Oh that trimming from the beginning of the file would be a gem

-When saving configuration it saves the output file name also
-When loadin conf. it does not check advanced avisynth(at least not mvdenoise) as how it was saved. Also "Specify Quality" does not show any value though checked

on m2ts input automkv try to make the dga at time of selecting input..., you could try to feed automkv with a dga/d2v made yourself

Not sure where else to turn, I've been trying to get some help with this issues for weeks and it really is the only thing stopping me from using your wonderful program to convert my dvd collection. The issue is subtitles - I can't seem to get them to burn in. I've included my post from a while back and the log.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.


I haven't been able to burn in subtitles in either the mp4 or m2ts container. I select the subtitle track and select "burn subtitle" under advanced settings, but I've had no luck.

Is this a known issue? Thanks in advance!

I just tried converting Star Wars. Because the subtitles don't come out at the correct times I had to use a separate program to rip them. When using external subtitles while telling it to burn them it won't. It adds them to the MKV file like normal subtitles but will not render them into the video as it's been instructed. The previous version did this just fine.

Hello.
Let me start to thank you for a nice program.
Now on to the problems :)

I wanted to rip some of my tv series to xvid so I could put them on a usb stick for easy viewing. And I chose 2_pass_Insane_Quality because I had the time. Only to find out when I tried to play them on my DVD with USB interface, that they didn't work :(
After some reading I found out that DVD players does not support GMC and QPEL in Xvid.
So I edited the "insane"-xml file and sat GMC and QPEL to false.
Is this the right way to do it? Or should I stick to the best profile that has GMC and QPEL false as default?
I would like to suggest some check boxes for these two options if that's what's keeping xvid files to work on DVD Players.

And is there a way to remove QPEL and GMC on the xvid files I already have made with AutoMKV? Without too much quality loss, preferably :)

When ripping those DVD's, I made a queue for each episode on the disk (7), with ripping of subtitles. But I noticed that the subtitles never got copied out of the temp catalog to the target catalog, so only the last of the seven subtitles where actually kept.
So what I did was to copy the subtitles manually each time a new episode was ripped to keep them all.
This clearly must be a bug?

One other question: Is there a way to keep track of the programs that are used (x264, xvid_encraw, etc)?
Is it possible to make some sort of update program, or at least a list of version numbers in use so we can compare and upgrade ourselves?

I wanted to convert dvd to a x264 mkv to play on PS3.

I want mkv so i can keep the ac3(also ps3 has trouble with some mp4 files ) so i ran it through mkv2vob and it says that it has to transcode the video

i selected the ps3 profile in automkv so mkv2vob should not need to transcode

am i missing something

I am having trouble converting a couple of blu-rays to mkv.

I started creating .ts files (TSMuxer) but I was getting audio drift, so I tried m2ts.

I've joined the m2ts files into one m2ts file which plays fine and includes the whole movie.

Something weird is happening in the creation of "movie.dga" as I've tried to convert the same m2ts file a couple of times now, and each time it's ended up a different size, way smaller than it should be. The first time movie.dga reported the movie length as around 1300 secs, the second time on the same m2ts file it reported it as 137 secs.

Any ideas what's going wrong?

If you're still looking for feature requests, I have one. How about the option to only display forced subtitles? I have a few projects that contain forced subs in the main English sub file, but since I hardcode my subtitles into the video stream (that way they show up on my HTPC), I don't wish to encode all of the subtitles in that folder. I hate to keep mentioning Handbrake, since I find Automkv a far more flexible and useful product, but Handbrake does this and is open-sourced, if it makes it easier to look at how they do it.

The old freeware program DVD2VCD had an excellent method of being able to detect forced subtitles, as well as finding other subtitles that might be present in a default folder (which is the case in the Star Wars films, if I'm not mistaken).

Any chance of being able to incorporate something like this into Automkv? Other than being able to wash my dishes and change my daughter's diapers ;) it's my number one desire in a program like Automkv.

I have 1080p content which is unplayable on my HTPC due to CPU overload, how can I convert it to 1080i or 720p with AutoMKV while leaving the rest of content the same (subtitles and audio)

What settings do I need to choose to make 720p out of 1280p?

Thanks. So if original movie is 1920x816 and is labeled as 1080p and not playable on my hardware I'm trying to make 720p out of it, would not I have to change first number to make it like 1280x720 or what is first and second numbers are? Is first one width or second one?

the first value is width the second is height
so write 720 for a 720x576 (example)
or 1280 for 1280*xxx

I thought 720p is 1280x720. It's not a case?
