Version 1.6.2 is out - apparently solely to correct the bug in full disk ripping.
Hope it works, Seagal fans :)

And now Version 1.6.3.0 to correct another bug
Regards
- Fixed a problem introduced in 1.6.2.0 which could cause a bad structure on some DVDs (such as Cars).
- Added UseOldCheckCode option in .ini file: if RipIt4Me can't detect the DVD or the Drive, you can set this option to 1 to use the "old" code, until we pinpoint and fix the problem.

RipIt4Me gives me an error message when reaching the IFO cleanup stage on my "Robot Chicken Season 1" DVDs. If I skip it and just use FixVTS everything seems to go ok though. I use the "Full DVD" ripping mode and on the DVDDecrypter stage swithc to IFO mode and select a single episode, so the lack of HDD space (only 4GB left) shouldn't be an issue. What do you think could be causing this?
blutach
18th December 2006, 21:39
Switching to IFO mode is your issue. You need a full structure. If you wanna use IFO mode, you actually need not use RipIt4Me. Just select the cells you wanna rip and go ahead.

Hi Blutach
I think for episodic DVDs you should allow to pick from the drop down. I was trying rip the original version of Apocalypse Now but it kept selecting Redux (thinking it's the main movie because it's longer).

maybe blutach is deeply involved into development (pure guessing though...) but I wouldn't go as far as calling him (indirectly) the author ;)

I am not involved in the development :)
Jarrett, maybe rip the whole DVD and blank out the eps/titles you don't want with VobBlanker (http://jsoto.posunplugged.com/vobblanker.htm). Very quick.

The problem is that I want to rip one episode at a time because I have precious little HDD space left. I would like to have both RipIt4Me and FixVTS clean the VOBs.

Free DVDFab Decrypter will allow you to rip one episode at a time, then run FixVTS

Many thanks for this essential tool folks!
Any chance of being able to look at a 'source folder' where our VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS already reside? DVDShrink allows this and wasn't sure how to make that work in RipIt4Me :-)
blutach
20th December 2006, 22:07
Not sure what you mean, but RipIt4Me has a preference when creating the target folder to have it in a VIDEO_TS folder.

@MacAddict
Hi!
If you mean will "RipIt4Me" initially rip files from a hard drive, unfortunately, the answer is "No".
The first steps in its usage (using the "RipIt4me" program and then "DVD Decrypter") will only work with a DVD in either a DVD-ROM or DVD burner (or, perhaps, it might be cajoled into working with a "mounted" ISO image file)...

Sorry for not making myself clear this AM, I was late for work :-\
@setarip_old
Yes, thats what I was meaning actually. It would be nice to rip from a folder on a hard drive. For the moment, I'm ripping from an image via DaemonTools or just ripping from DVD-ROM.
setarip_old

But typically, if you already have it on your hard drive, your DVD has already been ripped. So why would you need to use "RipIt4Me"?

Come to think about it, I can still use DVDDecrypter to rip and then run FixVTS afterwards. Thing is, doing this I would miss RipIt4Me's own cleanup phase. Would it be possible to add a new ripping mode that would allow to select IFO mode on the DVDDecrypter stage?

Come to think about it, I can still use DVDDecrypter to rip and then run FixVTS afterwards. That is incorrect. DVDDecrypter will grind to a halt if you directly use it with an "ARccOS" copy-protected DVD...

I didn't know that. It would still mean missing RipIt4Me's own cleanup phase, though.

There has been an update:
25 January: Version 1.6.5 is released. Another big changelog including improved BOV scanning, better and faster ripping of highly corrupted DVDs, better handling of game DVDs and the ability to run RipIt4Me in your own langauge (translaters wanted!). Note this version is also VISTA compatible.

v1.6.6.0 is out.
* Quick bug fix for the Win9x mess. Sorry about that.
1.6.5.0 wasn't working under win 9x. It should work now.
* If there's not enough room in the target directory for the ripped files, the user can now decide to abort or continue;
* Added strings for update dialogs.

v1.6.7.0 has been released.

v1.6.7.0 didn't work for me. When I fire up the 1-click rip and DVD Decrypter opens, it doesn't load the psl file and the RipIt4Me window freezes. Even if I load the psl file manually and the rip from the DVD is successful, RipIt4Me doesn't wake up. v1.6.6.0 works fine.

Perhaps the updates are being rushed out a bit now...

1.6.7.0 works perfectly for me. Previous versions would sometimes not automatically load the psl files, so far no issues here with the latest.

Version 1.6.8.0 (7 February 2007)
* Returned to a simpler way to check whether the disc is a DVD: look for the VIDEO_TS folder!
* Once more attempted to solve the VISTA PSL import problem. There is now a 1s delay to allow the open dialog to open.
* Fixed the problem that sometimes caused the label of the DVD to not be read and be reported as "NO_LABEL".
* In the Jump To Menu function, if the target menu was in the title domain, but not a title itself, things could go bad. This is now fixed.
* Fixed a problem that could allow the parsing to occur even though the disc wasn't ready!
* Fixed problem that could occur when updating (the RipIt4Me app was sometimes locked so you couldn't overwrite it).
* The dialog title in Step 1 now reflects whether we're in wizard or 1-click mode. No more confusion!
* In the jump to menu function, if sprm(2) (subpictures) is set to a value that can't be obtained with a SetSTN command, sprm(2) is set to 62 ("not set").
* There are a couple more strings to translate.

Was still unable to ununstall v1.6.7:
Apparantly what I did was download v1.6.9 and saved it seperatly, rather than using the open gui to do the download and update.
Had to use killbox to delete the older versions as pgcedit was still linked to them.
In a way it worked out as I went in and deleted all the programs associated w/ RI4M; RI4M, FixVTS, PgcEdit, Voblanker and reinstalled all with the latest versions of all.
Both pgcedit and voblanker have alot newer versions, something you tend not to think about.
While I'm here does anybody have any feedback on "Copy to DVD" which is supposed to be able to do the HDDVD?
