RipIt4Me - Update 22 March to v1.7.1.0

I can't install 1.6.9 zip file. When I go to extract the exe file it says it is password protected and askes for the password.

Anyone have this problem or know the password? I downloaded right from ripit4me.org.

I'm also getting the "password protected" message. There must be multiple versions of the downloaded file or the other responses wouldn't make sense.

I've tried both Winzip and the Windows XP built-in extractor. I'm getting the file from Ripit4me.org. I am the only user of my PC and have admin rights. For whatever reason, the zip file always asks for a password. At least I'm not the only one who has this problem :p

Luckily, I don't need the Win 98 features included in this update.

Why not use the installer? By the way, there's a recent post (http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?postid=508290#post508290) on the RipIt4Me forum that suggests a software conflict with Zone Alarm. Dunno if this is related.

Version 1.7.0.0 (28 February 2007)

* First version that integrates our adaptation of FixVTS. There is no need to have FixVTS installed anymore. Several options concerning FixVTS have been renamed/removed, including the FixVTS log, which is now included (and much simplified) into the RipIt4Me log.
* When a cell is removed, the next cell's STC discontinuity flag is now set. This might help with playability problems with certain players when tiny cells are removed.
* In Step 1, if your preferences are not to empty the target directory at the start, you're no longer asked to confirm whether you want to delete all the files.
* If the DVD is episodic with episodes in different VTSs and the user selects "movie only" or "movie+menus", Step 1 offers to switch back to "Full DVD" when the user presses OK.
* Attempted to make the copying of the original IFOs faster. In case of failure, we re-try 10 times.
* Fixed a potential crash during the cell cleanup when the IFOs are a bit messed up (cell command declared, but non-existent).
* Fixed a small problem in the analysis code that could cause errors in the Stargate DVD.
* If for some reason the PSL file was not imported, the user is only notified if dummy sectors are found, since if none are found it really does not matter.
* The first time 1.7.0.0 is run, the user is prompted to increase maxvobdur to 300 (if it is not already so). This is a one-time offer. Please accept it.
* The lock on the RipIt4Me.log and DebugLog.txt files are now released at the end of the Wizard and 1-click modes so you can open/move them if you wish.
* The part of the debug log that concerned Step1 (ripping the IFOs) was no longer present in the final debug log. This is now fixed.
* Fixed (once more) a problem with moving the original IFOs in linux.
* Other minor IO confirmation messages added.

As always, the most recent update looks wonderful!

However, I have always presumed that the main reason the RipIt4Me "package" was "untouchable" (by those who wish to prevent us from making backup copies of our purchased DVDs) was because the main program primarily provided links to the three programs that actually did the modifying of the DVD files.

Hopefully, the authors have determined that this merging of FixVTS into the body of the main RipIt4Me program will do nothing to negate that (perceived) reasoning...

What do you mean by that Boulder? From what I understand they've taken the source code of FixVTS and used it in RipIt4Me. Are you saying that if they implemented it but changed or didn't add all of it they wouldn't have to give the source?

Well, the change log says nothing about incorporating the code itself... Of course, they could easily do that without asking anyone, as some have done in the past!
We'll see if ripit4me starts crashing where fixvts does! :D

Hi everyone.
Upgraded to 1.7.0.0 .. don't believe it's a release problem .. maybe a system problem?. upgraded to this version now get the error "Not a DVD" .. went back to previous version still same message .. anyone know what causes this, it's the first time I have used the program since doing a fresh install of XP sp2 so possibly a system thing .. decryptor can see the dvd and will attempt to rip it but it has arccos.. anybody know ?

Just encountered an odd error with RI4M 1.7.1.0 while ripping the original version of "The Haunting" (not the remake w/ Liam Neeson), "The rip seems to have been aborted, RipIt4Me cannot continue."

However, all files appear to have been ripped successfully to the HD. I ran FixVTS manually afterwards due to RI4M abort.

The DVD does not have a VIDEO_TS.VOB file, but that is probably not significant. I tried the ripped output on MPC w/o problems.

Thanks for the prompt response. I've used DVDFabDecrypter in the past and prefer RI4M. I saw that RI4M recently added a feature to "jump to" DVDDecrypter directly if the DVD does not have ArCCos or other protections. I was wondering if a bug may have been introduced.

I appreciate the info. Nice to know how to continue when DVDDecrypter is somehow thought to have aborted (don't know the handshaking protocol between DVDDecrypter & RI4M). I was able to successfully run VobBlanker on the resultant files and played on MPC.

That's what I think too. I think once they involved DVDD in their program, they were kind of in no mans land. A lot of this copy protection BS is in no mans land, never know which way it's going to be interpreted or which direction it's going to go.

You can always go to CDFreaks (http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=214535) if you want. I think it is good to let it out.

My only question is how long this version will last against whatever Sony puts out next. RipIt4Me has a pretty good track record when it comes to not being needed to be updated for a new copy-protection.
