RipIt4Me - Update 22 March to v1.7.1.0

I was just thumbing around the Digital Digest site (http://www.digital-digest.com/) and saw this new ripping prog which was posted yesterday.

Tiny little app called RipIt4Me, it seems a gem. Makes PSLs and calls DVD Decrypter and then FixVTS.

Get it here (http://www.digital-digest.com/software/RipIt4Me.html) and give it a try.

It seems to be a bit of an automation of the plugin without the need for PgcEdit (http://www.videohelp.com/~r0lZ/pgcedit/index.html). Decrypt with DVD Decrypter, make a PSL, run FixVTS (www.videohelp.com/~FixVTS).

Should be good for newbies who find PgcEdit (http://www.videohelp.com/~r0lZ/pgcedit/index.html) a bit daunting.

Wow that's really cool. I want to have a try at it now! The thing is, I don't think I have any Arccoss protected DVDs.

EDIT: My only gripe with it at the moment is you can't move the scroll bar up or down when in wizard mode.

This is a really nice little app. It has a "one click" mode and from that point on it's all auto. All the up to and including analyzing in shrink. Real nice, you can go do dishes or something while it does it's thing. My hats off to the unknown author, whoever you are!

I just did Ultraviolet and I must say that the ifo's are beautiful. Even PgcEdit had no complaints. It's fun playing with new toys!
Once you have a beautiful backup, all that's left is a beautiful burn(which is another topic).

What's most impressive to me is that, after all this time, DVD Decrypter v.3.5.4 (released 15 months ago) continues to be the linchpin of freeware DVD ripping solutions, despite the many iterations of "ARccOS" and the introduction of "RipGuard" introduced after DVD Decrypter updating ceased...

I'm glad to see that things seem to be getting closer to what I suggested (at another forum) back on July 18,2005: 1) DVD Decrypter v.3.54 has the ability to identify all bad sectors

2) DVD Decrypter v.3.54 has the ability to generate a log - that includes all bad sector identification

Surely there's a qualified programmer (perhaps "Chetwood" or other) who's a member of these forums, who can create a small tool to automate the creation and importing back into DVD Decrypter of the PSL file - to make this activity transparent to the user and eliminate the need for independent creation of PSL files and/or seeking out already-existing PSL files.

Doing so would maintain DVD Decrypter as a current program regarding its ability to deal with new versions of "ARccOS" copy protection schemes.

The significant point is that, despite this, DVD Decrypter continues to be relevant in freeware solutions...

Version 1.1.0.0 is out. The auto updater should find it and download it. Then just overwrite the old version.

There was supposed to be a random bug which made the program not remember the location of DVD Decrypeter.exe when it loaded. I never experienced it and only know of one person who has.

That bug was reported by a poster at Digital Digest in the thread about this prog.

@setarip_old - I'm speculating as much as you, but if you are implying that LUK! has anything to do with this program, then he would have lost his very considerable brains.

You can discount LUK! from this. The autoupdater component of RipIt4Me is connecting to an Israeli ISP, Bezeqint.net.

if you are implying that LUK! has anything to do with this program...No need to jump to conclusions. I believe that Great Britain is the home to several programmers in addition to "LIGHTNING UK!".

In any event, I agree with setarip_old - the whole prog looks terrific and more importantly, seems to work brilliantly, "right out of the box", which is a real credit to its author. Seems he/she is quick on the updates, too.

Time will tell regarding the continuing effectiveness of this new program. the telling factor will be how promptly the next iteration of "ARccOS" is dealt with - or if a new iteration of "RipGuard" should ever be made...

Although I can possibly understand the author's desire for anonymity, I can't think of any reason for not posting information about version changes at the program website, can you?

I could care less if the Pope wrote this program as long as he keeps updating it to work on any new copy protections.
I just don't understand what difference it makes who wrote it or where info comes from as long as we get it in a timely manner. I just hope this author doesn't decide to stop updating, crap we need all the free rippers (that work) we can get. :D

Well I will agree with you on that 100%. Hopefully this author will add a version link in the program that will keep us abreast of what has taken place in the newest version releases, but as we all know Sony and MV will soon have there hands on it to work there counter attacks. Maybe it's a good idea not to post what you have done in each release and make things harder for the big boys (just a thought). :D

Well setarip_old, I also have seen it in the guide, which I have just viewed.Excellent! That guide has been updated in the past 1/2 hour or so - and that's exactly what one would hope to see. Perhaps the author or documentarian read my post ;>}

You are correct. I was reading that thread on DD. I was curious where the changelog for the new version came from as the download site still has 1.0.0.0 details unrecently. I thought I has missed it on a page somewhere.

Still a great program. I have had no problems with it. It doesn't matter who the person is. It looks like it is being kept up to date which is the only thing people wants.

I'd suggets an addition, if the author were anywhere to be found..

call MenuShrink before DvdShrink, that way you can remove 200 - 2000 Mb of crapola from the animated menus.

Just use the auto updater. If you download from the webpage, clear your browser cache/cookies first.

thanks for quick response fellas, still no joy.....have cleared cookies and temp internet files in disc cleanup....still downloads version 1.0.....I have had exactly same problem before with updates of DVDFabdecryp from Fengtao...give it a couple of days and it then works....something to do with servers ?..........I will try again in a couple of days.

Please read rule 12 and do not bump your posts - 17 minutes is hardly time for you to give reminders that we need to service your needs.

v1.1 is a tiny bugfix made for DVD Decrypter users that installed into the wrong directory. If you don't get DVD Decrypter not found messages, don't sweat it.

But, I DL'ed 1.1 easily about 16 hours ago.
