* Fixed calculation of width and height for High Profile H.264 video in TS files

Wow that was fast :)
@LoRd_MuldeR
Was there any specific reason to change from libmpeg2 to libavcodec as the default decoder for the Mpeg-2 Part ?

PS: Hmm but it seems still not to work i use 2.4.3 (4276) 24 Jul 2008 from Gruntster his Page and the .m2ts is still not loaded (it seems not to index it @ all) and still i get the "Kann Seitenverhältnis nich bestimmen" Messagebox and it stops :(

Wow even the plans to drop it completely, i see tough i guessed libmpeg2 was pretty mature on the other side i didn't followed the libavcodec Mpeg-2 Developments so yeah might be the right time to abondon it.
Tough recently it even commited a new official bugfixed version after quiete a while http://libmpeg2.sourceforge.net/

PS: On the AVC Indexing (Parsing it correctly) issue in .m2ts of Blu-Ray/AVCHD Streams maybe Donald could help the Devs of Avidemux with that :)

LoRd_MuldeR

Well, why include another mpeg2 decoder library when "libavcodec" can do it? As long as it works okay...

It appears the M2TS parser currently doesn't detect the video stream type. It is hardcoded to MPEG video and therefore the H.264 video stream cannot be interpreted correctly. I'll try to look into this further.

Standard MPEG-TS detects the type of video stream correctly.

Well, does only MediaInfo give that info or do you actually encounter playback problems?
For example: What framerate does MPlayer detect ???

And what container did you save to from Avidemux? MP4? MKV? AVI? ...

because some video i encode recently seem not "smooth"
so i check the new encode with mediainfo and compare to some older ones
i don't think i change any setting because i am using custom profile
it is save in mp4 container

Please try again with AVI and report back. You can remux from AVI to MP4/MKV at later time (using YAMB/MP4Box or MKVToolnix).
There were some changes to MP4 support in Avidemux recently in order to support "large" 64-Bit MP4s ...

4218 15 Jul 2008 gruntster [MP4] support MP2 audio (FS#308)
4217 15 Jul 2008 gruntster [MP4] enable building of VBR time map
4216 15 Jul 2008 gruntster [MP4] improve fps accuracy

Seems to work okay with AVI. No idea what is causing your MP4 error, but it might be related to "improve fps accuracy" in r4216.
Maybe you should file a bugreport at https://bugs.avidemux.org/ ...

already try doesn't matter which version of libx264.dll, r4281 produce Variable Frame rate mode
i also convert the above test avi to mp4 using yamb
here is the mediainfo seem ok no more variable framerate
so i think something is wrong the mp4 output after r4219

Using B-frames as reference and increasing max consecutive B-frames may show the problem.

That was one of the reasons for r4269.

Wouldn't it be better to have the three B-frame adaptivity options (off, fast, optimal) instead of just two?

Of course! But this would require the x264 config dialog to be changed. In fact both GUI's (GTK+ and Qt) would need to be changed.
I don't think this will happen before the new method officially hits git. Also there will be a completely new x264 dialog (http://www.mediafire.com/?vum2njdjzz9) in upcoming Avidemux 2.5.

Therefore I added a simple hack to libx264, so b_adapt=2 can be used with current (unchanged) Avidemux builds...

I tried to open Elephant's Dream (raw .264 extracted from MOV via MP4Box) and Avidemux simply crashed with "Fatal Error" after indexing :o

Re-opening the file will crash immediately ...

How to disable Scenecut in the X264 gui part, i only see a option to change it's strength but no way to disable it 0 is in X264 cli not disable but lowest setting disabling would be -1 and that's not possible in the X264 gui, also floating CRF seems no way to make use of it ?
uff there still seems to be alot of bugs that make it still unusable SAR for .MKV output isnt accepted stays @ 1.25 and SAR for .Mp4 is wrong instead of 1.78 PAL 16/9 (64:45) its outputing 2.22 (tough it detects the source absolutely correctly as 1.78 PAL 16/9 (64:45).

It seems those options are not available yet...

see my better description :) --scenecut=-1
gruntster it would be cool if i could talk about bugs and problems here and not allways file a bug report i like this direct contact with developers more then going over these lists :) i guess these problems are also not really big issues but minor ones, tough i think they are important for an application wich targets Average users and such usability problems seem also faster fixable then more hardcore stuff but they also have a big impact on user expirience :)

libx264 SVN-r928 + Psy-Trellis (Prototype) + B-Frame Trellis (Fixed Version) + Gruntster's Alignment-Fix:
http://www.mediafire.com/?x2lyny2xgyr

Compiled with MinGW GCC 4.3.1-tdm-1 (fprofiled). Modified to be used with current Avidemux builds. Tested with Avidemux 2.4.3 r4297.
Now checking "B-Frames -> Adaptive" will enable the new/slow (Trellis-based) B-Frame decision method, unchecking will use the old/fast method.
Commented out an assert in order to prevent the 2-Pass crash with b_adapt=2. It's an ugly workaround, but works for me...

For testing only! Don't use this for your regular encodes yet...

Hi LoRd_MuldeR (or anyone else), I can't seem to get the custom x264 settings to appear in the "custom" menu.

I've followed the instructions in the faqs (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=126164), used notepad++, tried it with/without a video loaded, tried with/without audio section in the script.

Any ideas?

Place the script file (.js) in your C:\Documents and Settings\John Doe\Application Data\avidemux\custom folder and it will show up in the "custom" menu...

When I try to make a "Direct Stream Copy" of an mpeg file using the MPEG-PS (A+V) container it won't let me because it says: "Incompatible Audio: For VCD, audio must be 44.1 kHz MP2". The audio is 48 kHz MP2.
The problem is I'm not trying to make a VCD, just to cut out commercials from the recording, so why doesn't it let me do it?

@LoRd_MuldeR : yes it's working, thanks!

I think the faq's need to be updated with the correct directory path

Preferences -> Output -> "Accept none-standard audio frequency for DVD"

Thanks for your reply, but that option is checked and the same message shows up.
