Hmm, I tested Firefox, SeaMonkey, Opera and Safari - all work okay here
Please make sure you left-click the DL link on the site and then choose "Save to disk..." (Copy & Paste won't work !!!)
BTW: Did you install some extension (or change some setting) in order to disable Referrers in your browser?

Some Firewalls do that too.
I can download the file just fine from your site with no referrer, though.
(I always have referrer disabled and use RefControl (http://www.stardrifter.org/refcontrol/) for sites that must have referrers.

Without a valid Referrer, the download will be blocked for sure. That was necessary, because various third-party sites linked directly to those files, which leads to unacceptable traffic. Nevertheless I have checked all browsers (except IE) to download properly, as long as the download is started from one of the "allowed" sites. So IceManZ obviously is using some kind of Referrer-Blocker (maybe inside of his firewall) or he tried to Copy&Paste the download URL...

Hah! You must have recently just changed that :) I just tried again and it doesn't work now.

The current behavior on my computer (with different browsers) is:
1. If I left-click the DL link on my homepage, then the download will be started normally.
2. If I Copy&Paste the DL link to the Address-Bar and press enter, then it displays the "Forbidden" page.
If more users report problems, I will have to remove the Referrer checker...

No no.. what I was saying that the referrer checker wasn't working the last time I used it to download Avidemux I didn't have to bother turning my referrer on for the site.
And now the referrer checker is working and is preventing it from being downloaded without having your referrer activated.

Why you don't simply download the Installer from my site?
If you don't want to run the installer for some reason (although I can hardly think of one) you can extract it with 7-Zip ;)

I don't know, but you should try again with latest build (r3465):
http://www.razorbyte.com.au/avidemux/
AFAIK that ".drv-ms" is nothing but MPEG-2 video and MP2 audio inside of M$'s own ASF container.
So in theory Avidemux should be able to decode those formats, but the none-standard container could introduce problems!
In case it still has problem, you should report that at the Avidemux board...

mencoder is able to decode/encode dvr-ms using the options -demuxer 35
i added support to dvr-ms in automen... so i know that handling this files is a little tricky

I made a quick test with this sample:
http://www1.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/samples/dvr_ms/Channel%204%20News_Channel%204_20_10_2006_19_00_01.dvr-ms
I loads finde in Avidemux after demuxing with MEncoder:
mencoder -of rawvideo -ovc copy -oac copy -o c:\test.m2v c:\Temp\Channel.dvr-ms
mencoder -of rawaudio -ovc copy -oac copy -o c:\test.mp2 c:\Temp\Channel.dvr-ms
Just open the .m2v file into Avidemux and let it index. Then load the external audio. That's it :)

Looking at this (http://www.avidemux.org/admForum/viewtopic.php?id=2347) thread, it seems support for dvr-ms was added a while ago.
I have posted a reply with a sample that causes Avidemux to crash. Waiting for reply...

Libavcodec's SSE extensions were disabled in R3412 for Win32. SSE instructions require 16 byte alignment, which the Windows GCC doesn't enforce. Most libraries manually work around this and libavcodec used to work but with the recent update a gremlin has crept into their code somewhere. I still need to look into this further. How does this affect x264? When x264 is initialised it automatically detects the CPU's capabilities. However, the results of the detection are overridden by Avidemux which uses libavcodec's detection routine (now restricted to MMX for Win32 but Avidemux only recognises up to SSE2). This may have been for legacy reasons but I think it’s now safe for x264 to take care of its own CPU detection. We'll also get SSE3 and SSSE3 extensions to boot. I'll have a look at enabling all CPU extensions for x264 in the next build.
For me this change speeds up encoding from 3-4 fps to ~16 fps. Thanks Gruntster, you definitely saved my day :)

I have put together a simple guide for DVD Authoring with Avidemux:

Nice guide! I noticed in your Flash animation that you changed the matrices to TMPGEnc, but didn't include that in your guide text. Did you mean to?
Does Avidemux's Auto DVD script choose your DVD encoding output? i.e. does it somehow check your region and choose whether to resize the video to NTSC or PAL?
Your flash animation/guide was very helpful in teaching me how to use the Calculator. That's awesome for calculating the bitrate! Very very nice, thanks a ton.

I noticed in your Flash animation that you changed the matrices to TMPGEnc, but didn't include that in your guide text. Did you mean to?
That was more an example than a real advice. In fact I'm not sure if the "TMPGEnc" matrix performs any better then the default one. So I kept that out of the guide. The Flash was created a while ago...
Does Avidemux's Auto DVD script choose your DVD encoding output? i.e. does it somehow check your region and choose whether to resize the video to NTSC or PAL?
It simply looks at the framerate: 25 fps -> 720x576 (PAL), 29.97 fps -> 720x480 (NTSC). In case you video uses a none-standard framerate, you will have to add the "Resample FPS" filter by hand before calling Auto -> DVD. Otherwise it does nothing. Guide has been updated...

There is no such option yet.
Nevertheless support for Snow should be available via libavcodec, which used by Avidemux for most formats. But I don't know how much extra work it would require to enable Snow support. Also I don't know how stable the Snow code is at the moment. Last but not least: Which container is Snow supposed to be stored in? One that is already implemented in Avidemux?
Maybe you should put a request on the Avidemux Forums (http://www.avidemux.org/admForum/index.php)...

I don't have any samples to try out but the source code suggests Avidemux can decode Snow.
There is also code to support the Snow encoder but it has been "disabled". Enabling the code and performing an encode causes Avidemux to crash...
As LoRd_MuldeR suggested, Mean will certainly be able to clarify things on the Avidemux forum.

I think I found a sample:
http://tuxrip.free.fr/transperl/MPlayer/The_Godfather-1972_snow.avi
This causes Avidemux to crash with internal CODEC_ID_SNOW not found error.
[EDIT]
Also I cannot get it to play anywhere: MPC+ffdshow, MPlayer and VLC all crash...

Snow decoder has been disabled too. If I enable it, Avidemux crashes with the same "get_buffer() failed" message your MPlayer is reporting.
ffplay doesn't like it either.
Perhaps it's the sample?
So to answer jeffy, no, Avidemux does not currently support Snow :)
// EDIT: It is the sample. I'll enable the decoder for next build. I may know what's wrong with the encoder too.

By the way: When Avidemux finds an un-supported Codec in an AVI file, shouldn't it simply show a message like "Unsupported Video Format (FourCC: XXXX)" instead of crashing with internal CODE_ID_XXXX not found error?
gruntster
16th August 2007, 14:19
I think the problem crept in with the latest libavcodec update. Avidemux is expecting the Snow decoder to be there but it's not enabled in libavcodec.
I'll enable it for the next release.

Is this only available in an x264 encoded file with the .avi container in Avidemux? Because none of my encoded .MP4s have any such info.
That seems to be the case, though I don't know why. When I store to MP4, I cannot find those information - neither with AVInaptic nor with my HexViewer. Also extracting the Video stream from the MP4 and muxing it into AVI again doesn't bring the information back. So I guess for some reason it is written to the AVI file, but is missing in the MP4 file. That made me guess the information is stored in some AVI specific header. But looking at the RIFF tree, it seems the x264 encoder information are located somewhere in the "AVI Data Block", not in any of the "Header" blocks...
[EDIT]
You can get the x264 encoder information into MP4 this way:
Create AVI file in Avidemux, extract the streams form the AVI and mux them into MP4 conatiner with MP4Box.
No idea why this doesn't work directly...
